My coworker and I stopped in to grab breakfast this past Saturday. It was not busy, and the place has a nice "old school" diner feel to it. We ordered two Greek omelettes, and the food was just terrible. Both omelettes were brown and burned, and these were not even really omelettes. They were burned scrambled eggs with tomatoes and feta mixed in along with greasy home fries. Overpriced at $15/each along with one $3 cup of coffee. We paid $43 with tip for an inedible meal. To top it off, the staff was both sweeping and vacuuming right near our table while we're eating! First and last time here, will never go back. Very disappointing. read more

Nestled alongside the Irondequoit/Penfield border (i.e., part of Irondequoit Creek). Down in a gully between the twin steep hills of Empire Boulevard. There's a swamp round the back, and a kayak rental place o'er the creek. This is a diner where a grizzled American detective and a fish-out-of-water Soviet secret ops agent meet while trying to track down a crime lord. Make sure to wear your old-school leather shoulder holster. We walked in, and the Gordon Lightfoot music immediately informed us what kind of dining experience we were about to have (sexy sax played later). The music, and the linoleum rocks on the wall. Patrons who sit at the counter: don't be momentarily confused! You have not been magically transported into a subterranean cave diner in Fraggle Rock; it's only linoleum! There's a breakfast special, according to a poster on the wall, that starts at 6:30 a.m. But the menu says they open at 5:30 a.m. Apparently people who arrive between 5:30 and 6:30 don't get the breakfast special. Also, the restaurant opens at 7 according to Google, so, no one gets nothin'. Also, it actually opened at like 7:09, so everyone gets everything. The pancakes were quite above average! They had a crispy foundation that made them cohesive. Still fluffy atop, though. Eggs and sausage were pretty standard, standardly good! Don't Miss: The breakfast special - ol' reliable. Clean establishment, the waitress was kind but push and rushed me . They were playing Christmas music on November 9th. A little too early and annoying. The coffee was a little watered down so I give it a 3.5. The food, eggs Benedict with home fries. The home fries were house made and tasted okay, not much flavor. And the hollandaise sauce was also house made but lacking flavor. It earned a 6.8 mostly because it wasn't all pre made. The experience rated a 2.7 due to being rushed and the Christmas music. My husband had been asking me to go here with him for months, so I finally said yes. It's a bit further from our usual 2 mile radius of diners we go to Saturday mornings when we have a lot to do, but I'm glad we finally stopped in! It looks small from the outside but there is ample seating inside which surprised me! There is also a lot of parking in their lot, which is also a plus for me. The breakfast menu is small but covers off the usual dishes you would expect in a diner. The staff there makes you feel like you came home to mom's or grandma's house for a cozy breakfast date, which I LOVE. I ordered the French toast with scrambled eggs and a side of bacon. Everything was delicious but I swear, that French toast is now on my top 5 of French roasts in Rochester. Just perfect, tasty, hint of cinnamon and vanilla ohhhh soooo good! My husband had the pancake special of the day (walnut and chocolate chip I believe?) and a side of bacon, and his was delicious as well. This place is a dump. No reinvestment into the business for sure. The first thing I noticed was how sticky the floor was. Not like someone didn't clean up a spilled soda or something , I mean like the floor hasn't been mopped correctly in awhile. I should have left right then. After sitting down and looking around you could get a sense that the people eating here look like regulars. An older crowd for sure. It was a Saturday around noonish. All the waitresses look like they've worked there 30 years or better. And the waitress we had was ok. The only reason for 2 stars. She was witty but you could tell she was tired. The booths are smaller than normal which made eating kind of hard with two people sitting next to each other. Our order was taken and drinks arrived fast enough. The coffee was just like any diner coffee , which I happen to like. Our order was a breakfast sandwich, witch was ho hum. Not much you can do with a breakfast sandwich to make it stand out. I ordered 2 eggs with corned beef hash and rye toast. The hash was canned and not very warm , everything else was ok, My wife ordered an omelet and it was horrible. The egg was burnt and all the ingredients inside it was the lowest of quality you could buy. I couldn't even eat one of the mushrooms it was so rubbery. I can't believe a restaurant can't even get an omelet right. It's the easiest thing to make. She took about 2 bites and left the rest. The waitress even noticed she didn't eat it and we just got it to go. As in go right in the trash when we got home. Plus our food came out in waves so my wife is watching me and my daughter eat while she has nothing. My toast came out when the omelet came out. It was just a disaster. Plus after the food arrived we didn't see the waitress until the bill came. She was catching up on the newspaper instead of refilling coffee mugs. I don not know how the heck the cooks can read the order ticket. It was literally unreadable to me. And the bill with a $5 tip was just under $50 for 3 people. Eggs with hash , a breakfast sandwich and an omelet . When paying the bill I asked the lady if someone spilled a coke on the floor. You could hear the noise as I picked up and lowered my foot. She looked at me like I was crazy. So unless you like , subpar service , over priced food and a filthy establishment , I would spend my money elsewhere. We went here for breakfast, and it was definitely one of the best places I've been for breakfast. No waits with quick and friendly service, once you come in it's not very decorative but you can sit where you want and a waiter will come immediately to your table. I got the 2 eggs with home fries and chocolate chip pancakes. The food came really fast and was very good. My eggs were scrambled, and some of the best, it was like a delicious home cooked meal. This is one of my go to spots for breakfast when I'm on the motorcycle.... Good old comfort diner food....Fast service, friendly staff each and every time I go there....A great view of the Irondequoit Bay just across the street and lot's of parking anywhere....The prices are average and the coffee never stops flowing....They also serve big groups in the back so you can have family gatherings as big as you want....This is just an all around pleasant place to eat for breakfast or lunch, I haven't had dinner there but I'm sure it's like moms. read more

A greasy piece of heaven...but then, are you really trying to be healthy eating a fish fry? I had the fish, the fries, and onion rings...all fried of course. Ask for extra napkins and soak up a bit, it'll be perfect. The fish is amazing and huge. The fries are those beautiful kind that are tossed in flour a bit so that they stick together crispily (is that a word?) when served. Their onion rings are out of this world. Even the ROLL was noteworthy, a beautiful yellow, moist roll. Coleslaw had just the right amount of sweetness. Service is old fashioned and good. It's an old diner so the decor isnt great. We went there for dinner yesterday on whim while we were in Webster. Generous portions, excellent prices, attentive service and tasty food. We could not finish our meals and are the left overs for lunch the following day. If you like good quality, fresh food with no frills this is the place to go. My wife and I stopped here for Friday night fish fries. The place is very clean and the wait staff was very nice and personable. We started off with salads. The lettuce was starting to brown and was bitter. The rolls we had were dry knot rolls...not very good. When the beer battered fish came it was dripping in grease. Met friends on their recommendation for a casual Friday night supper. They told us to expect a decent, casual, diner-like experience . Right on. We were called honey and dear by classic diner-type career waitresses. Food was plentiful and what we expected. Three greasy but delicious fish fry dinners and one chicken parm meal left us too full for dessert. Water glasses were refilled without our asking. Rolls were fresh. 3 stars because they started cleaning the restaurant 30 minutes before closing. We along with other guests were still eating. We will, however, be back. My family has dined at Bayfront many times. Over the past year or so we have noticed that the prices have increased greatly and the quality has gone down. Today I went to lunch with my grandmother, my two children (3 and 8 months) and my cousins daughter (2.5). We ordered our lunch...I ordered a BLT Club with fries, my grandma a fish sandwich with fries and the kids each got Mac and cheese. About 5 minutes later the waitress brought my sandwich and fries. 10 minutes later my grandmas sandwich came sans fries. The waitress claims she never ordered them. We then say there, waiting for the kids' Mac and cheese. We waited 15 minutes at which time I got up and asked where the meals for the children were and was told they were coming out. 8 minutes later they arrived at the table, cold. The waitress never apologized or offered an explanation. I expected to at least be offered a discount or even not be charged for the meals, but we were given the bill with full cost. We will not be dining there again and not recommending Bayfront to anyone. read more
