I have been here twice. When they used to have dinners, I loved the place, now they are only open for breakfast and lunch and only do hand-helds like sandwiches and wraps. I ordered their beef souvlaki wrap with fries and was expecting chunks of beef but instead it was shaved beef. read more

Sunday morning breakfast was at Pixley's which generally is pretty good. However, not so much today. I ordered the French toast which was good but definitely could've been warmer, I asked for well done hash browns which were not well done kind of greasy and cold. My fiancée asked for 3 eggs over easy and got 2 eggs, and home fries and he got the other half of my hash browns as I ordered a half order. When we've been there in the past it was never an issue to order 1/2 of the hash browns or home fries today it was. The waitress was nice but I was not happy with my cold food. I did not complain about it as my fiancée ate my hash browns. So today they were not on their game. read more

I really don't like to leave a negative review, I never do even if the food is just OK. I don't expect perfection at every food establishment that I visit or even just standard or normal service/food. This last (and first) visit to Pixley's however warranted a review.. The reason I'm leaving this to hopefully have some future patrons reconsider their choice and not have to waste $40 on inedible food. We had 45 minutes for a diner lunch, more then adequate for late afternoon soup salad and a burger. I had the soup (ham and bean) and also the All American burger. I eat out a far amount and I know what to expect from a diner for a burger lunch. After waiting 35 minutes for the lunch to arrive (and my lunch partner had just soup and salad) it went down hill fast. It was a very small burger for the price, pretty sad actually. The burger had the worst aftertaste I have even experienced. I don't know if it was bad meat or what the problem was but it was absolutely awful. I could only stomach two bites and knew I had better not eat any more. The waitress was slow and instead of warning us the food was taking longer when we were seated (she knew they were down a cook and food was taking a long time) she just let it go and blamed the restaurant making sure we knew it wasn't her. I'm sorry but this needed to be said, there are a LOT of other choices in this area,nhopefully you won't make the same mistake I did. $40 for 40 minutes of what tasted like Campbells soup in a can (I can do that at home and come to think if it, it would have been better). Don't advertise ham when there is a minuscule amount of meat. Sadly our waitress knew, noticed that we ate about 10% of the food yet still offered no discount or any consideration. When we told her the food was bad she just shrugged and blamed it on the cook and walked away. She was ONLY concerned about making sure we knew it wasn't her that was slow. Met my friends for breakfast Saturday morning 9:30 greeted by hostess who seated our party of 5 right away. Waitress was kind, attentive and polite. Coffee was fresh, and refilled regularly. Food arrived fresh and hot, was good, typical Diner food. I had the early bird special, 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon slices for $12.00 so reasonable. Place seemed clean, dated, but cared for. Service was extremely slow and the place was empty on a Sunday afternoon. I had to call a waiter over to take my order. Perhaps it was a change of shifts. The mural seems to be from a long bygone era. I was seated at the front where booths are located on either side with some tables in the center of the room. Chicken Salad Club was very good. This was my first time here and I thought that this was a decent breakfast spot. We came for Fathers Day and the place was slammed. Our server was super friendly and for how packed it was, the food came out fairly quickly too. My western omelette was pretty tastey, it had some burnt spots (which I typically I hate) but I was able to overlook it since the flavors were good. Hash browns were good but the home-fries were not. They weren't crispy and had no flavor at all. Bacon also was very mediocre. Either way we enjoyed ourselves and left satisfied. I would come back again. read more

Real Americana Food and Ambiance. This is one of the last remaining Family Restaurants in my area. Compared to similar places in the reagion, Pixleys has it all. Came here for a quick breakfast between gigs. Traveling to the city. We walk in and then hostess was on the phone. Handed us menus and pointed to a table. This lady was on the phone the entire time we were there. Our waitress was nice but not overly friendly. Food was pretty good decent prices. We typically go to Pixley's for breakfast. We always ask for our favorite waitress, Sherry. She's amazing! Always friendly, asks about family and has a great attitude. The breakfast specials are always good. I have to ask for my hashbrowns crispy or they come out just "warm." But the eggs, pancakes, waffles are tasty! I've had lunch and dinner here as well. I grew up in the Gates area and have been going to Pixley's for years. It is that typical family owned diner. Great food, great environment. My favorite is going for breakfast. I enjoy this nice family restaurant. The food is good and the service is fast. My order today was the French delight(?) I think. French toast with scrambled eggs, bacon and a side of home fries. Very good. My only issue was the home fries were half cold. Almost like they weren't turned so half warmish and half cold. Also my first choice was a waffle with peach topping which they didn't have. I still recommend this place. The server I had was fantastic and if I had returned the potatoes they would have been reheated I'm sure. I just ate them cold. read more

I'm not sure how this place is even still open. Went to Pixley's for breakfast this morning and was very disappointed. The building and interior are rundown and the food is unremarkable. One of the more expensive breakfast locations in the area. For the price I expected something worth the money. Not the case. Frozen potatoes are used for the bland and old tasting home fries and $9.99 for an omelette?! Restaurant was virtually empty and yet our server was super slow. Friendly, but on several occasions it felt like she forgot we were there. Hostess was surly and seemed annoyed by our presence. With so many amazing local restaurants going under because of COVID, I have to wonder how this place stayed afloat. I don't recommend trying Pixley's. read more

Ordered breakfast with a friend, We both enjoyed it, EXCEPT we asked for our hash browns a little crispier, and apparently the cook took offense to that. They were crispier, however they were so salty they were inedible. You ever catch a mouth full of ocean water before? Yeah, that's not even close to how salty these were. Nauseatingly salty. The two women working the floor were attentive, and not just to us, but every table! Well done on their part. Prices for breakfast were still very reasonable, steak and eggs are available for just $9.99. Bathrooms could use an overhaul, but I'm not eating in the bathroom, so that's no biggie. read more

Absolutely amazing service and delicious food!! I've been going here since I was a young kid, and they have never let me down. They have many options and good deals. The servers are super experienced and treat you so so well and put a big smile on your face. The food is so good and hits the spot every time. Whether it's sandwiches, soup, salad, or breakfast meals, they make it fabulous!! I have been here so many times and not once have I been disappointed. It's casual and clean inside and has no gross stench like some places. The restrooms are clean too and the tables are as well. I will continue to go here and continue to love it. We stopped into Pocket's today for breakfast. We ordered the eggs Florentine with crab meat and the French delight. The Florentine used imitation crab meat, which I enjoyed because with certain meals I like imitation crab because it is sweeter. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The only down side was that I asked for my homefries to be burnt and crisp and they were not. My husband's French delight was good, but not out of this world. We tried this place for lunch because the nearby Quaker Steak & Lube was closed down. Big mistake on our part! It a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was packed. We were seated and it took about 10 minutes for someone to come over to take our drink order, coincidentally it was the hostess. We waited another 20 minutes for a waitress to take our food order. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. We debated leaving. I think the sloth at the zoo moves faster than these waitresses! None of them really seemed to have any urgency over the fact that 80% of the tables still had not been served. After 30 minutes, we finally got our first drink refill and a reassurance that our food would be right out. We told our waitress we were about to walk out. Two of our entrees "magically" came out, and we waited about 5 minutes for the third for my stepson. His burger was raw. We had to flag our waitress down and upon coming over to our table, we advised her of our issue. The waitress (middle aged and probably some relation to the owner due to how personally she took things) actually copped a huge attitude and said the kitchen rushed to get our food out because we were going to leave. She made a big scene, waving her hands and raising her voice that it was OUR FAULT that our child's burger was raw! We got up and walked out. Keep in mind that we had been there over 1 hour and hadn't even eaten yet! What a dump! I'll stay in my own back yard from now on. I hope word gets around about how rude your staff is and how your sub par your service is! The food, I can't comment on, since we never got to try it! read more

During my recent cross-country trip, I spent a little bit of time in Gates, a tiny suburb of Rochester, New York. My traveling companion's brother and sister-in-law live here, so we went out to dinner with them to Pixley's. It's a cute enough little place. From the outside, it looks like your typical American diner that could have been built at any time from the early '60s to the mid-'70s. But they've spiffed it up a little; there's a mural on one of the walls, and they've covered all the hanging lights with a cloth kind of outside that doesn't hide the CFLs very well. But I was glad they did use CFLs in the first place. With the sprucing up they were trying to accomplish with these little details, I feared that the menu would be some sort of homage to American diner food without actually being American diner food. Thankfully, I was wrong. This place is diner through and through. Sure, they have fare that no diner would ever have--sorry, I don't eat meat so I wasn't really paying attention to what it was--but they also have your classics, and they serve them in a classic kind of way. Actually, this place reminded me very much of the girl who grew up in a small town but who gets some sophistication when she moves to the city. There's always something about her that remains small town, and if she lost that completely, she'd lose her character. Pixley's hasn't lost its character, or at least it hasn't lost the character of the restaurant that was at this location before the makeover. The food was OK, nothing memorable. read more

This place has gone on a downward spiral for years and it makes me sad to watch it just occur naturally without reason. Whenever I visited family up here, we went here for breakfast (this was circa 2000 to 2004) and we enjoyed it! The staff was always friendly and curteous and the food was worth the drive! I never payed to much attention to the decor as I found it kind of neat but I can see why people would see it as dated. My problem now with this place is that the staff aren't very responsive. Be prepared to be slightly ignored on occasion when you ask for someone and the food isn't as good as I remembered it to be. Sorry to say, but I think I will be moving on. Pixley's is a great greek style diner on Buffalo Rd. I often lunch here with my mom because it is close to work. They have a lot of good wraps and paninis. Last ti me I came I got the chicken gyro and wasn't disappointed. The french fries come out hot, and are a thick cut. My mom is a big fan of the cole slaw and all of their paninis, she tries a different one everytime. Waitresses are prompt with drink refills, and are happy to give you extra sides of sauces, dressing, etc, even if you are taking half of your sandwich home. All in all, I think this place has great service, and very generous portions, especially if you order their specials. read more

I am here for a proper diner. I miss booths. I love drinking hot, caffeinated beverages In a booth like it's 1992 and Pixley's does this. It's a time capsule to princess and duchess diners of yore. A Retro throw back with The food is typical Greek diner faire but the breakfast is So Killer! The crêpes c'est magnifique! They rock ham, bacon, eggs, all that. The waffles are super but they've only been available to me once because "they're not available after 11:am". So, that one time I got there at 10:20am, they said "waffles are not available after 10:am" I was very sad. Because they're delicious and very very rare apparently. Pixley, get more counter space or electrical outlets and make your waffles available at all times because there are entire restaurants centered around just chicken and waffles. Make it happen. Please. Their corned beef hash n eggs is killer! oh how I Love that salty grease! Their Chicken fried steak is good too. lol just Never get their prime rib for obvious reasons. read more

Went to the Pixley Restaurant for a quick lunch today, 6/3/19. Always have had fast great service in the past. First off, the hostess was speaking to who I think may have been the owner as he went out through the kitchen, an instead of acknowledging our presence, continue talking. She then sat us. We waited more than 5 minutes with no waitress acknowledging us. No drinks nothing, as she cleared tables, attended to others previously seated, then went into kitchen and was in there talking. We decided to leave and as we did she and hostess came out from kitchen and did NOT seem affected that we were leaving. Will not return! read more

Pixley's is a diner with pretty much the standard offerings you would expect from such a place. It isn't very big, but I've never had to wait for a seat, and it's never really been all that full when I've stopped by either. The staff is pretty attentive to the customers and the food is decent. I have tried a few different offerings and the paninis are probably my favorite. I think they offer a fish fry every day, which seems odd, but maybe it isn't. I just always thought of fish fries as a Friday only thing for some reason (never tried it). The reason it gets three stars is because of a huge pet peeve of mine - the first time I ever went here I got a chicken ceasar wrap. It was great. I've gotten it twice since and both times it was wrapped so poorly it fell apart upon opening. I don't know what's so hard about wrapping these things - I do it at home all the time. Don't offer wraps if securing so they don't fall apart is beyond your staff's skill level. lol. Anyway, don't get a wrap, it's not worth the hassle. The prices are reasonable as well so if you're looking for a relaxing place to stop by for a quick sit down dining experience this place will do the trick. read more
