3 eggs over easy, 3 strips of bacon and toast. Delicious and simple!

Sam's is a classic greasy spoon, hole in the wall type diner. And I mean that in a good way. Located in the former Chinese restaurant I used to frequent with my family in my youth in irondequoit, Sam's offers classic breakfast fare at a great price. Sam (who I assume was the owner and namesake) took my order and cooked the food. 3 eggs over easy, side of bacon and toast. Simple. For about $5.75. Can't get much better than that on price. The food was not over or undercooked. Just right. Tasty and quick! Side note: a regular sat at the counter and suggested I stop by on Friday nights when they serve dinner. He raved about the dinners. Will have to check it out some time. Sam's is solid!

Open area to enjoy the restaurant.

Well this is my 4th time dining at Sam's and I find it to b cosy. Home cooking and just a simple menu. They do require masks and have covid seating in place. They offer take out call ahead ordering. Staff is very helpful and Friendly. Check them out if your in the area. Tell them Scott sent you.

The 2x2 breakfast (with a side of toast). Yum!

This is the best breakfast in Rochester! The food is delicious and the prices are more than reasonable. My favorite is their pancakes, they are always light, fluffy and flavorful. My husband and I have been going to Sam's for breakfast just about every week since they opened a couple of years ago and we have never been disappointed. The food is always fabulous and the service comes with a familiar smile as the owners strive to get to know the clientele and make them feel at home. It's really a great place to eat.

I'm not a big fan of breakfast food. I've tried most of the diners in Irondequoit. Food is cheap and decent. I wasn't blown away but it good. I want to come back and try their panini.

OMG best home fries on this side of town or perhaps anywhere!!! I do love onions though so I am biased :)

The Owner is Extremely Rude!!!…read more We stopped in to get fish dinners recently. After looking at their menu, my husband had a question. He asked the owner his question, and the owner replied, "Can't you read?". My husband said, "Excuse me!". The owner tried to change his tune, but it was too late, and we just walked out. There are so many places to go to for a great fish dinner (The Winfield Grill, Chick'n Out, Bill Gray's, Palmers,...), where you'll not only get great food, but far superior services and get treated with respect. In addition to this owner's terrible attitude, this place has a "Very Fishy Odor", and that's never a good sign when purchasing fish from a "Fish Market". We will never go back to Captain Jim's, and strongly suggest that others do the same.

Rather than chunks of soft white and red meat and visible claw meat, it was cut up big squarish chunks of white, brown, and rubbery meat. I'm sure it was lobster, but the preparation/composition was very different from other places. The lobster was overcooked and rubbery. There was not enough butter. It was in a plain hotdog bun rather than a toasted brioche bun. I had to add more butter. I think you should try a warm buttered lobster roll from Nolan's on Canandaigua ($25), the restaurant or the snack shack, to know what it should look and taste like. For this price the quality has to improve... I won't be back unless I see pictures that it's better. I was really really really looking forward to having a go-to lobster roll spot.

My martini was perfectly mixed and ice cold! The food was phenomenal as well. I enjoyed the lobster risotto appetizer, chicken thigh with polenta and a delicious and complex mole sauce, and butterscotch pot de crème for dessert. The bar was bustling when I arrived, but quieted towards the end of the evening. The restaurant has high ceilings and an upscale but comfortable feel. I'd absolutely return to Redd if I'm ever in Rochester again!

I finally had the opportunity to eat out at REDD for a friend's birthday a couple of weeks ago…read moreafter years of trying to come. I really have to say - for the most part, the wait was worth it. First and foremost, I have to call out their drink menu - while ultimately we came to enjoy a nice dinner, their cocktails were by far the biggest star of the show, with our entrees trailing very closely behind. If you like to partake in alcoholic beverages, I can say without a doubt these are the best cocktails I've had in Rochester, let alone all of Western NY, and this is even put up against drinks from the likes of Cure, Bitter Honey, and Avvino. I don't know if the bartender is just using higher quality spirits as a result of REDD being an upscale restaurant, but the "Burn after Reading", "Wise Guy", and Manhattan are some of the smoothest, most delicious, multi-noted drinks I've had in my entire life. If I don't come back for the food, I will absolutely be back for the drinks, because my goodness, abso-freaking-lutely phenomenal. My friends and I still talk about them now even weeks later. For our entrees we had the NY strip steak, grilled chicken, and a poached salmon, and every single piece of protein was cooked just perfectly. The steak was a beautiful warm medium rare, the chicken was glistening with succulent juiciness, and the poached salmon which I had for my main is one of the softest pieces of fish I've had in my life. It beautifully flaked away on a bed of potato puree and extremely well herbed and seasoned home fry-like potatoes that were ever-so-slightly just-undercooked intentionally to act as a perfect foil to the gorgeously soft puree and salmon itself. If I were to knock anything at all, the winter squash, turnip, and green vegetable medley that came with the chicken and steak was unfortunately far too undercooked for my liking, almost to the point of being completely raw, and while I appreciate letting vegetables sing and respect the beauty of raw, fresh vegetables, I was hoping for a little bit more of chef-y flair, seasoning, or even cooking of them. Besides that, the wait staff was simply top tier and were extremely inviting throughout the entire evening. We felt taken care of and checked up on often and they were the utmost professional. The only thing that was a true negative was the desserts -- if there's one thing I would NEVER order at REDD again, unfortunately our dessert missed the mark entirely. My best guess is due to lack of a pastry chef, but our chocolate tart was muddy and flavorless, not even tasting of chocolate, and the two homemade ice creams we tried - chocolate, and oatmeal followed in suit. We ultimately wrapped up at REDD but then ran down to Char Steak & Grill at the Strathallan for what ended up being a phenomenal dessert experience there. But overall, I have to say - I will definitely be back! The entrees were awesome, the cocktails were life-changing, and the ambience and wait staff were without fault. Thank you for a wonderful experience, REDD, and see you again soon!

My guess is that the owners have sent the more seasoned, better cooks or chef to the latest location in Greece. While this may seem like a wonderful strategy, it comes with a hefty price. Lastly there was a hair in my food. Yuck! seriously what happened? What they had was working, . I'll try the new location in Greece. Hopefully, the original cooks and chef are there.
