Knocking off several stars because food quality is declining. I ordered my usual and there are some obvious noticeable changes. My guess is that the owners have sent the more seasoned, better cooks or chef to the latest location in Greece. While this may seem like a wonderful strategy, it comes with a hefty price. The food I received today was not great. First issue, I noticed is that the shrimp are now medium instead of large. Second the smell of cinnamon was overpowering the rice. They added way too much. Lastly there was a hair in my food. Yuck! seriously what happened? What they had was working, . I'll try the new location in Greece. Hopefully, the original cooks and chef are there. I've been ordering from Halal-N-Out since they opened, and it has become my go-to choice! The food is always hot and fresh. The Chicken and Lamb Combo Platter is my usual, with extra white sauce and a drizzle of hot sauce on the side. Don't be fooled...the hot sauce is HOT! The meat is on a bed of well-seasoned rice, and served with a small salad to the side. Always plenty of food, and I usually end up with leftovers! The corn fritters...sweet corn kernels, fried in a crispy shell...I've never had anything else like them, and they are a part of every order! Halal-N-Out is such a Rochester gem! I have both ordered food to my University and eaten inside their location, and the food has been great every time! My go-to order is always their lamb and chicken mix platter combo with fries and drink. I always think I am going to try something new, but the lamb and chicken is the perfect combo, and I always end up ordering it. The meat is beyond delicious and flavorful. Their white sauce is also an amazing addition to the platter. Their cheese fries are also a delicious option! I kid you not this was the best gyro I've ever had. The gyro was pretty fast had to wait for the fires a few minutes but honestly I was full from the gyro. I'm really glad we have a halal place in Rochester! I ordered the chicken salad and cheesy fries for pick up and it was ready in a half an hour. The salad is huge and was enough for two meals. I added on chickpeas, onion, cucumber, and black beans (no extra charge) and the white sauce (50 cents extra). Highly recommend adding on the white sauce to whatever you order, it's worth it. There was a generous portion of chicken in the salad and it all tasted great. The cheesy fries were seasoned fries with cheese sauce -- not melted shredded (which I don't like). Finally a Halal place in Rochester! I've been here twice now. Both times on a Saturday during the dinner rush. I got the chicken platter both times. I like the basmati rice with the chicken and the sauce they put all over it. It comes with a side salad which I don't care for because it's iceberg lettuce. I also got the fries which I really like since it's breaded. There are a handful of tables for dine in. There's a cool mural against the wall right when you enter m. This was my first and last time going there. I had the lamb & chicken combo and my son had the shaved steak sub. They assembled my meal, put it in a paper bag and then it sat on top of the ice cream cooler while they made my son's sub. My food was cold when we left and the Lamb was just scraps. I recently moved back to Rochester from Brooklyn and I've been craving food from a halal cart. There's nothing like a quick, delicious, reliable, relatively cheap (prices in NYC recently are ~$7-9) chicken over rice with white sauce and red sauce, you know? So, I was ecstatic when I heard yesterday that Halal-N-Out opened up basically in my backyard (Irondequoit). I have to admit that I was worried about quality and authenticity when I learned that the restaurant was part of a chain. They convinced me that I had nothing to worry about. I got a chicken/lamb combo over rice with the small side salad, and a side of onion rings just to be a glutton. Onion rings were tasty and cooked, but could've spent some more time in the fryer. The real star of the show--that combo over rice--was great! Portion size was generous; meat was flavorful, well-seasoned; rice was on point, and that white/hot sauce combo was perfection. It tasted like home :) They're still very new, so it took awhile (~15 mins) to get my food after I ordered in person. Friendly people though with good service, so I will definitely be back.
