The restaurant is situated in a little square, yet its plain facade hides the delicious food that awaits you inside. There is plenty of seating around the room, with a sizable section in the center that is ideal for gatherings of friends and family. Honestly, the casual, unassuming ambiance and modest decor may make you pause at first. I implore you, nevertheless, to not judge a book by its cover. Take a seat, put your order, and get ready to enjoy a filling dinner. Halal meat is a key element of the menu, which is a big plus for people who value this dietary choice. My family selected the Chicken Kabsa, but I went with the Chicken Mandi. The fact that both dishes were served hot and fresh was evidence of their quality. It takes a little while to prepare the cuisine, but the wait is definitely worth it. Be patient. While the Chicken Kabsa had the ideal balance of spices and soft chicken, the Chicken Mandi was juicy and flavorful. I added the given sauce and hot sauce to take the dish to the next level, adding an amazing depth of spice and flavor. We couldn't help but sample the Basbosa dessert after our main course. This dessert was the ideal way to cap off our meals, giving it a traditional Yemeni sweetness that left us feeling utterly content From beginning to end, the meal experience is made pleasurable by the attentive and helpful staff.

It looked like a good place to share food at in terms of atmosphere. I got the Mantarli (Mushroom) Pide and Sutlac (Rice Pudding). The pide was good, but it wasn't as hot as I would've liked to have been :( I think this was because of the delivery service, so it's not any fault of the restaurant. The crust was really nice and crunchy. The pudding was excellent - it was light and rich at the same time and hit the spot perfectly. I think that this place would be best eaten at in-person, so for a truly fair review I'd need to come back for that. Very good food and solid pricing!

I arrived hungry and excited to try the food, especially after hearing good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to my expectations. The black beans tasted like they came straight from a can and had virtually no flavor. The chicken was tender enough, but the only flavor I could taste was salt. In fact, it was so salty that I found myself reaching for the green sauce with almost every bite just to make it enjoyable. Without the sauces, I don't think I would have finished the meal. Be prepared to drink plenty of water afterward. On the positive side, the customer service was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The prices are definitely reasonable, and you get a good amount of food for your money. Overall, it's an affordable lunch option with great service and a clean environment, but the food itself could use more seasoning and flavor beyond salt. For that reason, I'm giving it 3 stars.

Putting in a couple appetizers, we opted in for the kibbeh, baba ghanouj, and manakeesh (za'atar w. cheese). The kibbeh was seasoned and fried perfectly. The baba ghanouj was creamy and accompanied with a very nice and airy pita bread, and the manakeesh was wonderful. It reminded me of a sauceless cheese pizza with the middle eastern spices. For mains, we opted in for the Mashawi which included a trio of meats. Kofta, beef kabob and chicken. All three meats were nicely seasoned, but the star meat for us was the kofta. The side of hummus was nice, and the salad was nicely seasoned even before pouring the dressing over it. Also opting in for the lamb chops, I found these to be perfectly grilled and incredibly tender. These were grilled closer to a medium-well, but still remained juicy and packed full of flavor. We found our server and the kitchen employee (perhaps the owner) to be pleasant and full of hospitality. This small-from-the-outside restaurant blew us away and we enjoyed everything we had. We look forward to returning in the near future to try other items on their menu.

It was a fortunate mistake though, because this place was much more than we expected. Walking in, you first see the clean, modern cafe. Since we quickly determined they didn't have the wrappers we came for, we instead got lunch. A helpful and patient guy at the cafe explained what everything was. My wife got a potato-filled pastry and a chicken-filled pastry. I got a chicken kabob bowl, a sweet cheese-filled pastry, and some fruity soda. The chicken bowl was the standout for me -- the chicken was crispy and well seasoned, the rice was well cooked, and there was some seasoned onions and cucumber on top. Generous portion for, I believe, $12. I'll definitely be back because I always enjoy a baklava and they had, by my count, 10 different types of baklava. We also saw a lot of interesting grocery items we'd like to explore when we have more time.
