I wasn't expecting authentic Indian flavors from a place that is touted as fast casual, but the consistency of the tikka masala was more curry / soup like and tasted too sweet. I ate it and it was fine but didn't taste like tikka masala. The gyro salad was okay, but again, sweet. Customer service has been pretty poor the two times we went, food was great the first time and decent the second. Naan is a bit on the chewy side and the paneer does not seem house-made. Tikka Masala is solid, but not incredible. Tika masala fries are flavorful but quite soggy and could maybe benefit from crispier battered fries. We were driving across New York and found Naan-Tastic when searching for vegetarian restaurants. It's an Indian-fusion, fast food place set up similar to a Qdoba. At the counter, you choose a bowl, burrito, or naan-taco. Then, you choose from quinoa, spring mix, turmeric rice, or French fries for the base. Next, you select a protein...3 of the 6 options are meat free. Your creation is topped with makhani, Masala, or vindaloo sauce. Toppings such as corn, grilled veggies, cranberries, cilantro, etc. are next. Finishing sauces and a variety of sides also are available. You pay for your finished creation at the register at the end of the line and you're ready to eat! I selected a bowl with the quinoa base, paneer, grilled veggies, corn, masala sauce, and raita finishing sauce. I also ordered a mango lassi. The serving size was ample. One of my fellow travelers ordered quinoa with Gardein chicken, vindaloo, cilantro and other toppings. The other ordered a bowl with turmeric rice, paneer, vindaloo, and toppings. Our creations were tasty and, as is best for traveling, quick! The lassi was the classic version and quite refreshing. The ambiance is casual. The space is brightly colored with a motorcycle decorating the area just inside the door. We will stop in again when traveling this way. read more

My mom has been raving about Naan-tastic since she moved up to Rochester. During my visit to see her for Christmas, I knew I wanted to check it out. The expected joke is that naan-tastic is fantastic. The joke applies. Naan-tastic is what my mom describes as "Indian Chipotle" with a fully customizable menu and a friendly staff to help when you get overwhelmed by the insane number of options. Start with your base: yellow rice, quinoa or a thick naan for a naan Taco. Then add your protein. I was torn between chicken or paneer, but options included lamb, 2 types of chicken, paneer, and one other I can't recall. I ended up going paneer. There are a bunch of sauces ranging from sweet to spicy. I choose "dad's sweet makhani sauce" to bathe my paneer in. I've never had a sweeter sauce before, and while I prefer the stronger taste of the more "savory" makhani sauce, the sweet sauce was a new way for me to enjoy paneer. Next up: toppings. There were chili's and cucumbers and onions and chickpeas and grated paneer and several more. I added chickpeas to my paneer and got a side of the cucumber raita for my naan. The rice bowl is huge at a very-fair 12 dollar price tag. I was unable to conquer my bowl, and the leftovers will be eaten later today for sure. I didn't get dessert, but options included Nutella-covered gulab jamun and some ras malai. I'll be back in Rochester again in January, and I think some naantastic would be fantastic on my next trip. read more

4.5 stars. I've come here a good 3 years after I was last here and I am glad to say they've only gotten better with their flavors! We ordered the naan taco with chicken Tikka and vindaloo and the bowl with lamb kheema and vindaloo. We also got a side of samosa makhani. I put everything except the sev and cranberries on my naan taco and it was delicious. Spicy, flavorful, simply yummy! My brother got everything except the sev and loved his bowl too. The samosa makhani was a little too restuarant-y makhani masala (lots of butter and tomato) and bland samosa taste as is the custom here in the US. But I liked it overall. Introducing this place to my brother, who loved it, was awesome! Keep up the good work guys. Hope you continue opening new stores everywhere! read more

For someone who is not normally an Indian food lover, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. They're are plenty of well-explained options for the uncultured like me. The atmosphere was modern and welcoming, the selection and checkout process were smooth and I didn't experience any craziness even though it was a weekday lunch hour. I am surprisingly impressed with this place. Think of the concept of chipotle, but fast casual south asian flavors. I have had this place twice (once take out, once in store) and am always impressed by all of the flavors (I can't help but think that I am liking it more than I should). I have had naan on the side each time with my bowls and flavors are fresh and delicious. My only qualm is that I feel prices are a bit high for what is a pretty small portion (restaurant prices for fast/casual style food). But I do have times where I crave Naan-tastic and it is always a good choice. read more

After trying Naan-Tastic at a Yep event when they first opened, I've been back a few times, most recently being for lunch this past Saturday. This place is simply the best. Fast casual Indian fusion in its most delicious form, with the option to do a burrito, bowl, or salad. Every chutney is delicious, all of the sauces are the same used at Thali, and the proteins are cooked to tender perfection. I always always order the makhani chicken with sweet chutney in bowl form, and the sauces make this bowl POP. The bowl will leave you feeling full for most of the day. I order with both french fries and rice (ILYSM carbs!) and the result is epic. These bowls honestly just don't look amazing in photos, but I am TELLING YOU they are so beyond delicious. My partner went with the lamb and marsala sauce, and I will say I def preferred the chicken to the lamb and the makhani to marsala. They are doing an amazing job of keeping the public safe during Covid-19. I pre-ordered takeout directly from my Yelp app, called upon arrival, and a staff member brought my order out immediately. The interior of the space is gorgeous and do NOT sleep on the mango lassi or desserts when ordering takeout! I don't know a lot about Indian food, which makes choosing things to put together from a board difficult. I like to go in and point to a dish and they just make it. I"m pretty open to trying different things, though, so I basically had the woman behind the counter walk me through my options. Of course, that means I can't recreate this... what is the sauce!? No idea. I also got Samosas, which were tasty, but too much food along side the bowl. Obviously, I ate it anyway. Anyway, it was really good. The place was clean. My friends introduced my husband and myself to Naan-Tastic. We fell in love and went 3 days in a row after. It is similar to Subway and Chipotle but with Indian food. The interior is pretty red inside with motorcycle at the entrance. The are some high table tops and regular tables. Naan-tastic also has beer on tap and this cool method of getting their beer. You put a special cup on the burner looking thing and it fills the beer up from the bottom. Cool concept. I was a bit overwhelmed not knowing what to order. My husband got one of the bowl suggestion on the wall. He always gets the College bowl with the french fry base. I usually customize my own bowl: rice base, chicken tikka, dad's sweet makhani sauce, tomatoes, cucumber, and sweet corn. I ALWAYS get the garlic naan, do it. I love this bowl, all the flavors work great together. The bowl is a bit on the pricey side, $9 and another $1 for the naan. I can only eat half my bowl and I'll finish the other half later. I would recommend Naan-Tastic to anyone new to Indian food or needing a quick bite. There is something for everyone here. I need to try the mango lassi. read more

I love Indian food. So I thought I would try Naan-Tastic mostly because I had my dog with me. I knew this was more fast food than sit down dining. Yes they had a patio area that if it was a little warmer I could have eaten outside. Think Indian food served Chipotle style. And it works. You choose bowl/roll/taco. your base, rice, Quinoa, spring mix, or French fries. Protein- I choose panner tikka (cheese). But there is spiced garbanzo beans, vegan chicken, chicken tikka, lamb Kerman, Swazi fish fry. Sauce is a choice of 4 from sweet tomato cream to spice Vindaloo or a vegan/non vegan Marsala. Top with variety of vegetables fresh and grilled and dried cranberries and parm cheese. And finishing sauces tamarind, Raita, vegan mint cilantro. I also got a veggie samosa. All very good and tasty. This is my favorite "fast food" place in the Rochester food scene right now. First of all the employees are fantastic & always smiling & helpful. My husband has gone 2x with me & always asks for a suggestion & they are more then willing to always suggest something to him. The dining room is always clean & bright with an awesome soundtrack always pumping. Ok, now we can talk about the food. Delicious from the first to last bite. I always do a taco because I love the garlic naan! It is always soft & yummy but I never taste the garlic on it so that is one downfall. Veggies are always fresh & yummy. Meat is always tasty & never fatty or grisly. I love their sauces with such variety. I have never tried their sides or cookies but I plan on it in the future. If chipotle were to have a perfectly awesome Indian style sibling ... Naantastic would be it. I really enjoy this place. It might not be the most authentic Indian food, but it sure is tasty. I usually get the bowl with tumeric rice. For the meat base, I've only tried the chicken tikka because it's awesome. What I really love about this place is that you have different base sauces (spicy, mild, sweet/savory) that you can use; you can also mix sauces. There's also an endless amount of toppings you can put that really enhance the Indian flavor (Channa, paneer, tomato etc). To top it off you can put raita yogurt or imli (sweet type chatni), as well as green chatni. All these flavors make each bite to be super flavorful. You can add sides such as Punjabi Mac n cheese, pakora, samosas. I tried the Nutella Gulaab Jaman and it was out of this world. Pricing is pretty fair, a little bit more expensive than chipotle but you get a lot more food. Naantastic is essentially a trendy, hip, modern Indian chipotle without an awesome vibe: I wouldn't be surprised if this place expands throughout all of the USA, as it should. read more

My husband had a bowl (turmeric rice, chana masala, vegan masala, chili garlic). Felt more like fast food than typical Indian food, but both dishes had a fresh twist on authentic flavors with the perfect level of heat! Would eat again. Give me an order of the turmeric rice with chicken tikka, extra channa masala, lamb, golden raisins, shredded panner, and cucumbers... and omg. *drooling* I tend to get the raita, sweet makhani, and masala sauces on the side because the bowl portions can be so large that I often have enough for two meals... so then I get to enjoy the different sauces at different times too. The staff here is lovely, warm, and welcoming, and the variety of ingredients, sauces, and styles (roll/bowl/or taco) is delightful as well. There's a fun, whimsical nature to the food here... and there seems to be something for everyone on the menu. I'll often use their app to order and then pick up my food on the way home from work, a baseball game, or whatever else. So convenient. As others have said... it's a Chipotle-esque, fast-casual-type location for Indian cuisine. But don't let the Chipotle-comparisons fool you or let you underestimate the deliciousness offered. The two men at the front counter recognized I had never ordered food from Naan-Tastic before and walked me through the process, explaining each item to me and how they tasted. I was thoroughly impressed by them as good customer service is rare, especially during the busy and difficult times of COVID. The food was delicious. I made my own bowl with quinoa and chicken. There are so many options to chose from. If you like spicy food, you're in luck too. The naan bread is also a must try. The only negative to this place is that it is pricey. Indian food is one of my favorites, so when it comes to this review I must be open and honest and start off by saying my expectations were high, maybe too high...leaving me feeling a little disappointed. Was the food bad, not at all, but was it considered tasting like true authentic India food made by my friend from India- far from it. Staff members were pleasant, the atmosphere: small, clean (with the exception of the bathroom...) and quiet. Although nice, this restaurant had more of a commercialized feel to it then a small authentic Indian restaurant. The taste of the Chicken Makhani was bland, with a slight aftertaste of a cinnamon like flavor. Very dry rice. Just wish I could say I had a better experience. read more

After attending a fantastic opening event at Naan-tastic a month or two ago, I am pleased to report that this restaurant is still seriously awesome. It's a fast-casual Chipotle-style version of Indian cuisine, with some surprisingly niche and authentic items, creative fusion ideas (punjabi mac salad), and a little bit of something for everyone. It's not necessarily a place for Indian food purists, but I feel confident that most people with a reasonably open mind will enjoy what they get here for the price point. Basically, you make either a bowl, wrap or naan option with your choice of a starch base (I had turmeric rice), your choice of protein (I had channa masala, aka spiced chickpeas), your choice of sauces (I had the "screamin' vindaloo," aka the spiciest and it wasn't bad at all, in fact maybe not spicy enough for some), and a whole range of veggies, sauces and other add-ons. I recommend the chutney! Naan-tastic has a very interesting interior; at first it seems like the typical modern fast-casual layout, with clean synthetic woodprint eating surfaces, modern chairs, exposed light fixtures, etc. But closer inspection reveals many unique details, such as a beautiful painted mural of rural Indian life over the doors, some cute monkey sculptures hanging from the ceiling, and a variety of details specific to Indian transportation culture. I'm including a few photos of some gems I saw. Naan-tastic also has beers on tap (served via glasses that fill from the bottom up!), a soda fountain, and some nice-looking desserts. On top of all that, they are AWESOME at indicating vegan- and gluten-free for every item on their menu. Overall, this is by far one of my favorite casual restaurants in Rochester; I might even like it more than Tai Chi Bubble Tea (not far away), and that's saying something! Definitely check this out, and if you want to venture deeper into Indian cuisine within the Rochester area, try any of India House's locations, Thali of India, or Amaya! Decided to try this place as I heard that it was like an Indian version of Chipotle, and that is a good way to describe this place. I am all about convenience, so I love that this place is good for take out. The set up is almost exactly like that of Chipotle. The menu is simple but inclusive, which I think is good for Indian food because at traditional restaurants, you might not know what certain menu items look like if you haven't seen them before. I got a bowl with lamb, makhani sauce, lettuce, and rice. As a side, I got the vegetable samosas. I also got the mango lassi. The food was very good and authentic. The lamb was tender and flavorful. The makhani was not as sweet as I usually like, but it was good. The vegetable samosas were excellent, and full of potatoes. The mango lassi was thick and rich. Overall, good food and convenient. However, I have to give only 4 stars due to the potion sizes for the price. The bowl was 7.99 plus 2.99 for the lamb, which I thought would be included with the price of the bowl. So for the bowl in the picture, I paid about $11. The whole meal, with samosas and lassi, was $17. There are a lot of traditional sit-down indian restaurants where you could get more food for this price. But, you can't beat the convenience. read more

I saw an ad for this place and it just sounded so good that I went there the same day. It's similar to Chipotle in how you order. I had no idea what I was doing when I went and the workers were very patient in explaining everything. I ended up with a bowl that had quinoa, spring mix and lamb. I can't tell you the rest of my toppings but it was good! So flavorful! I also added on the vegan Mac salad, which was a little spicy but still good. The decor of this place was neat too, I loved the motorcycle parked in the front. I would definitely go back, I can't wait to try a new combination and those desserts! read more
