Located in a small plaza next to the Taco Bell on Mt. Hope, you might just miss it if you aren't paying attention. Met two of my girlfriends there for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was and the staff were so welcoming and kind. Parking lot has limited spaces and it can be tight getting in and out of- but well worth the effort! We started with the hummus and pita bread- the pitas (2) are huge and come out fluffy and pipping hot!! They are delicious. I love hummus so maybe I'm just picky, but I thought it was pretty flavorous. Drinks are limited and if you are trying to watch your sugar intake your best bet will be with only bottled water (unfortunately). My one friend ordered a hot tea ($3) and was thinking it might be a specialty drink but she was given only hot water and a tea packet. For lunch: One friend bought the falafels and said they were good. My other friend got a small Mediterranean salad with chicken and she ate the whole thing (small salad was a great size). I also bought the small Mediterranean salad but I had them take off both types of peppers and onions- I also had them add extra feta and added chicken and the ground beef kabobs as well. The dressing was lite and just the right amount, the chicken was tender and delicious! I probably would skip on the beef next time (and I'm a fan of beef). Overall, great lunch and would highly recommend giving it a try for a casual lunch while you are out and about. read more

My friends picked up food for us so I didn't get to experience the actual restaurant but the food was very good! We both got a pita combo and comes with a side and drink. Great spot for authentic Syrian food- although they also have a lot of options here geared to the American palate . The owner spent a lot of time talking to us as I had brought a couple of Syrian students to the restaurant. He was super friendly and so welcoming- Explained the menu in Arabic to my students, sent a small order of shrimp to the table on the house as the girls had never had shrimp and were curious. I stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the chicken shawarma pita ($10.00). The sandwich was flavorful, and while I enjoyed it, it seemed a bit overpriced considering the small size of the sandwich. This is primarily a takeout / casual dining set up...order at the counter and take food to go or have a quick bite at the no frills tables. We tried Jasmine the other day for takeout and unfortunately didn't have a good experience. We ordered an appetizer, 2 gyros, and a gyro bowl. The food wasn't ready when we arrived and it looked like they only had one employee working. The appetizer was so salty it was inedible. The traditional gyro was okay, but had about half an onion inside and the tzatziki sauce was chunky. The gyro bowl portion was so small for the amount of the bowl. The eggplant gyro was okay as well but nothing special. We will go elsewhere for dinner in the future while in the area. read more

I was looking for some Friday night takeout, and Jasmine Restaurant had such excellent reviews that I had to try it! It definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered hummus, spanikopita, a Greek salad, and lentil soup. Everything was flavorful and fresh. The soup was made with golden lentils and blended - so good. Spanikopita was a steal at $7.00 for five good sized triangles. The Greek salad is more exciting than your typical restaurant salad. In addition to the normal cucumber and tomato, it also had seasoned cauliflower, banana peppers, artichokes, grilled zucchini, and Greek olives. You can choose spinach, spring mix, or both, and your choice of dressing (Greek, tahini, spicy tahini, garlic, or tzatziki). You can add protein for an extra charge too. Hummus was delicious and came with a nice big pita pocket. Everything was generously portioned and there was plenty to save for another meal. There is not table service, so you simply order and pay at the counter - the staff did deliver food to us at the table. The staff was very helpful in explaining the wonderful items ion the menu. Stopped by here on the way to Costco because we missed Mediterranean food and we were not disappointed. Both grape leaves and the shrimp appetizer were well-worth the price. I also got an orange and pomegranate juice and it tasted freshly squeezed and not like it was bottled at all! The pita was the best pita I have ever had. It was freshly baked after we ordered and was so soft and doughy. We had the chicken kabob bowl and the gyro bowl. Both were big portions and delicious. I stopped into Jasmines Mediterranean Cafe on Mt. Hope Ave. in Rochester NY today, and was greeted immediately. I ordered the Rice Bowl with rice, beef kafta kabobs, green peppers, extra feta cheese, extra Kalamata olives, cucumbers with Tahiti sauce. It was delicious! The beef kaftan kabobs was definitely the star as it was so tender and seasoned wonderfully. I also ordered the Kibbeh appetizer. You get 4 bulgur croquettes deep fried stuffed with ground beef and chopped onions. It comes with a side of tzatzi sauce. They were quite tasty, well seasoned and deep fried to a golden brown with a nice light crunch. I ordered my husband the Salmon Plate. This was baked salmon served with hummus, rice, and a Greek salad. My husband enjoyed this plate very much. There is parking in front. The restaurant is open floor plan with plenty of seating. We came in as a party of nine with two small kids and the two guys working were very nice and accommodating. One of the guys moved some tables together and also helped us with the ordering to make it a smooth process. The prices seemed very reasonable for the quality and portions. Try the Turkish coffee! This new restaurant offers a variety of toppings (cheese, meat, veggies & sauces) to top your choice of classic potato or sweet potato, baked, mashed or fried. This restaurant was brought to our attention recently when a friend suggested it for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised. The place itself is quite plain with no real ambiance, but the food and the staff make up for it. One of the owners is a young man who takes orders. He is very friendly and openly shares info about the restaurant, the recipes (many of them family), and is generally welcoming. The food is eastern mediterranean and very good. We at in at one of the tables. Orders are taken at the counter, the food is brought to the table, and at the end you bus your own table. We have been back a second time and found it much the same. The pita came out hot and delicious and the orange juice was fresh. I am super snobby about pizza... especially crust. The mushroom pizza was delicious and the crust was thin and crispy. It was so good heated up the next day. My step son had the lamb chops and it came with a delicious garlic sauce that I dipped the pita in.
