I will start this as I always do by saying I only give out five stars if I'm really blown away This place is a little gem that I just found. Food is excellent service was very good as it's just cafeteria build your own bowl, kind of thing. But the staff was friendly. Very casual atmosphere. They had the World Cup playing on one of the TVs in there. That was a lot of fun to watch. The spanakopita it was delicious the build your own bowl was very good too. I really liked the falafel. Whatever they do with the sweet peppers that I had in my bowl was awesome. The tabouli was pretty good. It had pomegranate in it which I wasn't expecting, but I liked the little sweetness that it brought. I really wanted to love it here. It is a much bigger location than the times I was here previously. They bought the old Starbucks location next door. I ordered online to pick up, and it was ready when I got there. The spanokopita is very good. That is what I had when I was here before, and it is still great. We also had the baba ghanoush, which was also good. But the pita it comes with is hallow and hard. Nothing like having great baba ghanoush and nothing good to eat it on. We had also gotten the pita chips, and they were seasoned well and ok, but so, so hard! Like hard to bite them hard! I would absolutely get the spanokopita again. If they had a great pita, I'd do the baba ghanoush again, or try the hummus, etc. Tasteless, stale pita just isn't doing it for me. read more

I've been to Basha quite a few times, and I didn't realize I hadn't reviewed them before. Basha is a great place to meet up with friends for lunch. The location makes for a centralized location when trying to coordinate with friends from different parts of the city. My go to, is usually a vegetarian combo plate because I get to sample all my favorite Mediterranean vegetarian options like dolmas, hummus, baba, falafel and spanakopita. Mmm. It's perfect. And the pitas that come with it are fantastic. I highly recommend ordering some extra pita when you get hummus or baba ganoush. More recently I had a grain bowl which was really nice. I had quinoa with the lentils - they're spicy but SO good! I was able to choose dolmas as my "protein" which ultimately makes me happy that I could choose a veg option instead a traditional meat or tofu or falafel option. And then you get five toppings to add to it. If you're in a mediterranean restaurant it only makes sense then to go with artichokes, kalamatas, chickpeas, cukes and the like! On my last visit I ate WAY too much as the portion size was enormous! Basha is a great option for lunches. You can get in and order quickly. There's plenty of seating. If it wasn't for Yelp I would have never known about this hidden gem! Located in the small plaza on the corner of Clover and Monroe Ave. Basha brings delicious Mediterranean food to upstate NY. Parking can be tight and limited, but it's worth taking the time to park and get inside. I stopped in on a Tuesday at noon for some lunch and the place was hoppin'! Being it was my first time here, I followed the entrance signs to the inside and found myself standing at the Cafe bar. A little confused, I was greeted by the Barista (who was so kind and friendly) who led me back to the area in the restaurant where you find the lunch/dinner menu and order your food in a cafe style manner. Staff greeted me with a smile and were more than willing to guide me in my lunch choice. Lunch ended up being the Prima Pasta with Chicken. A large dish of beautifully made pasta (if I were to guess, I think it was homemade) and a light red sauce. I was worried at first glance that the chicken would be spicy (just by the bright red seasoning on it) but it was surprisingly not spicy at all and only added flavor and texture to the dish. All the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The hostess brought over a basket with two pita breads in it and they looked phenomenal- unfortunately, the look of them was just a look. They were rock hard and if it weren't for the sauce from my pasta that I tried my best to soak it in to soften it up they would have been inedible. For the pasta with chicken and a Snapple it was over $30. While it was enough for two meals the prices seemed a little steep to me. Came here for lunch with my work wife. Sometimes my home wife doesn't like to try new things. This place is very confusing at first. Cafe coffee shop when you first walk in. The coffee shop lady pointed us in the right direction for lunch. Almost like she has to do that very often. As for lunch. I ordered the lamb shawarma. It was very good. Appreciate a few unique pescatarian and vegetarian options in addition to the traditional standard vegetarian menu options you see on all menus. Have been to many Mediterranean restaurants and Basha's spanakopita was a wonderful pie that stacked up. Was easy to customize the order. Salmon was a bit overcooked but not terribly. They are easy to work with, deliver exactly what and when expected-- and take extra care with allergen sensitivities and notifications. This place consistently does not disappoint. Inside you'll find an unassuming counter line similar to a Chipotle, but this punches way above its weight. The decor is unique and the patio is lovely. Served on tableware with friendly staff. The food is absolutely outstanding. Easily one of the best restaurants of its kind anywhere we've travelled. Everything is super fresh and flavorful. We're not sure what they do differently about their baba, but it is to die for. Their Veggie Sampler is a go-to favorite. Today we also tried the portobello pitza which had nice chunks of olive, onion, tomato, a vinegar reduction, and cheese with a lovely pull to it. We've yet to have a single item at this restaurant that wasn't described as "outstanding" or "among the best we've had" for whatever the dish. Ahh... Basha is so good. Yes, that good! I've always been a fan of Sam's ventures, so I'm extremely pleased to see that Sam (and his lovely wife Samaar) are doing such a fantastic job while operating under current COVID restrictions. I love how Basha focuses on quality and freshness in their food preparation. Everything I've ordered from them has been consistently stellar and their take-out game is on fleek (am I using that right?). Yes, fly AND sleek. As a dedicated Dad Dash man (yes DAD dash), I really appreciate a well-run operation. Here are a few of our favorites (so far). The Duchess and I both love the Chickbasha (their chicken shwarma); esp. the pickled beets and garlicky sauce. Another fave is their "pitza"; so far we've loved the Grecca (which can be ordered with or without chicken) and the Lahm. There's even a pizza-styled pitza for picky eaters. Very tasty! Another must have is the Baba, AKA baba ghanoush. Basha's Baba is the stuff of legend. To top it off, it's not a meal for us if we don't order a side of hummus and spanakopita. Upon entering it's a little confusing as to where and what to do, but we figured it out, order at one end and pick up and pay at the other end. Had lunch here for the first time. We tried the Grain bowls. You order at the Counter and carry back to the table. I had a combination Rice and Quinoa bowl with a lentil sauce. ( you have several options to choose) You then choose your vegetables , which are delicious, and your meat (or cheese) I had the Gyro meat but the chicken also looked good. They also have Salad bowls, along with Pita sandwiches. Two caveats, it is pretty noisy inside and the food quantity is very large so we may split an order next time. How could I sleep on this Lebanese cuisine TREASURE?! I took my first trip to Basha for lunch yesterday and WOW - they did not disappoint on any front. I had finished up my Trader Joe's shopping trip and decided I needed to make the maiden voyage to Basha after reading all of the great reviews. I ordered a gyro pita (or so I thought?) was told it would be 20 minutes and went on my way. Now - I had no idea they weren't open for another 40 minutes when I called. LOL...they are open 12-8 during Coronatimes and I called around 11:20. They totally accommodated me anyways, not sharing that they weren't open when I called, and still not sharing when I walked in around 11:45 to find them still getting things ready to go. I saw the sign on their window as I was leaving and felt SO silly/bad, but they just acted as though all was normal. Top quality service and I love them for that. As you'll see in my photos, I did not get a gyro pita but a gyro pitza, and honestly I am a better person as a result of this "mistake." I was feeling bad I didn't get any food for my partner, but luckily this gyro pitza is more than enough for two for lunch. We split it and were both ooohing and aaaahing over how amazing it was. Loaded up with gyro meat, olives, tomatoes, spicy tomato sauce, cheeses, and more veggies - I died and went to pitza heaven. The inside is sparking and gorgeous (even tho I was only in for .5 seconds) and they are also currently offering curbside service. I can't thank them enough for humoring my "mid-morning" hunger pangs and for my lack of diction while talking on the phone. These were both pleasant gifts to my day and I can't wait until my next trip to Basha! read more

I finally stopped in to Basha (ordered online for pick up during COVID) and got the ChickBasha pita. It was SO good! The order was ready on time and there were no other people waiting when I got there. They are allowing three people in the restaurant at a time to pick up and also are offering delivery. The pita is a large portion that was toasted and stuffed with chicken, garlic sauce, pickled turnips, onion, and and pickles. It can also come with tomatoes and mushrooms but I opted to leave those out. The garlic sauce was my favorite part. A good sauce makes a dish for me, and this one had a ton of garlic flavor. The sauce was creamy and balanced out the tartness of the pickles and pickled turnips. The crispy bread was toasted just right, too. I was impressed by the food and will be back to try more soon! read more

Basha is literally my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Rochester! It's almost like a Chipotle style, but way higher quality and more options.
