    Fish fry
    Brenda O.

Went here for the first time since I was a teenager. It has since changed ownership. It's a cool place. It was a little dirty. The tables were sticky and the carpeting was probably the original. So it definitely could use some remodeling but I guess the old vibe goes with the place because It's suppose to be haunted. It's Halloween season so we were hoping to experience something but no luck. I was shocked that they had fish fry's on a Saturday so I tried it and I was not disappointed. The fish was so crispy it was very good. The coleslaw was good and the fries seemed homemade, they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the bonus was they were seasoned really good. I will definitely go back

SO enjoyed my happy hour drink at Union Tavern! Situated on Culver and directly across from Seabreeze, I took my laptop and sat outside - feeling super jealous of all the folks riding the Jack Rabbit. Union Tavern has a homey/divey feel to it and all of the staff I encountered was attentive, thoughtful, and super kind. The drink list is not overwhelming while still being robust, and caters to that lakeside kind of vibe. You'll find frozen drinks, a small sampling of wine, and ~6 beers on tap with a much larger bottle and can list. I enjoyed a blue moon for $5, with PBRs and Genny being your most economical option. I haven't tried any food items yet, but the menu looks wonderful. With seafood and classic American options, this would be a great spot for family dinner or casual date night. They have fast and free wifi for all my fellow remote workers out there! In the winter time I can totally see myself sitting in their comfy couch area during the day and knocking some work out over some soup. The building will be a work in progress, and there are still some elements of disrepair that are visible. I am SO so glad there is something special in this spot and I can't wait for folks to discover and love it!

Mussel Chowder Soup and Fried Calamari

Mussel Chowder Soup and Fried Calamari is so good at the Union Tavern. We stopped in for Sunday afternoon lunch. Good place to chill out, relax, have friendly good service and real good tasting food with a twist on the normal American fair. Good vibes with the lake decor and pub feel. Tables covered in the classic brown paper like you'd find up the New England coast. Fried calamari is seasoned with some pepper which I never had it seasoned with pepper, served in basket cradled in graphic news print paper. Loved the taste and presentation. Clan chowder move aside, as the Union's Mussel chowder is prepared to perfection loaded with mussels, potatoes and seasoned so tasty. Not sure how we also packed in burgers but nevertheless the burgers are so big I couldn't finish mine. Pub fries are a crispy addictive delight. Yum! We will be back. For a pub, the Union is a 5.

    Crab cakes with wedge fries

Went here twice over the summer since their reopening. The food and drink menu is pretty good, I had the lobster roll the first time I went back but I wanted to split it with someone so they were very gracious and cut it for us. However I realized I shouldn't have split it cause I wanted more. They didn't skimp on the amount and had a good mixture with the Mayo not too much. The fries were also pretty flavorful. The food came out quick but we were also the only ones sitting at the bar at the time on an off time in the afternoon. It was during covid restrictions and they just opened up so I'm sure that is also why. They have been great both visits with keeping people safe. Had to wear the Masks and kept people distant so I felt safe. Next time i went little more people were there so they ran out of the lobster roll thinking I'd get a full one that time. Decided to get the crab cakes and fries. These were also very good but almost wish they were on a bun or something. I had salad underneath so it was healthier and still good so it wouldn't mask the flavorful taste. The margarita was also amazing, nice and strong with the alcohol which made it feel worth it. This second trip was on my birthday so they gave us an alocoholic freeze pop as well which was also super strong and yummy

Had a very nice lunch here. Server was great. Good chicken quesadillas and delicious portobello fries. Big parking lot.

What a fantastic place! The new owners really deep cleaned and changed a lot about this place to make it comfortable and cozy. My friends and I came for "dinner and ghost stories" and were not disappointed! The food and drinks are a steal, and delicious! Two drinks were only 12 bucks which is great compared to the other joints i go to and i got top wine. Check out my photos of the food... everything we got was amazing. The Union tavern host a lot of fun and unique parties. I can't wait to come back for the mediums that they have come here or even just for dinner! I must try the salmon and the bone in tomahawk! Thank you so much for making us feel welcomed and a big thanks to Ralph! He is the gentleman who runs Dinner and Ghost Stories. What a great time!!! Oh, and the bartender, James was so kind and took phenomenal care of us!!

I live about a mile away from here, and never stopped in when it was The Reunion, so my husband and I made it a point to check it out The Union Tavern! We went around 7ish on a Friday, so before the bar crowd showed up. I ordered the Union burger with pub fries - delicious!!! Their pub fries are like crispy potato slices, and I could have filled myself up on just those! I also enjoyed a nice Prosecco & peach drink (I cannot remember the name of it, but it was fabulous!) My husband ordered the fish fry with fries, and he said it was one of the top 3 he has had locally. This means a lot coming from my husband, a self proclaimed Fish Fry-onnaire Do yourself a favor and get down to the Union Tavern, you won't regret it! The minute you walk in you get a cozy, home feeling! We will be back again!

This is the first time My Wife and I have been here. We went tonight for The Ghost Walk. The walk itself was very, very good. Creepy but very cool. The drinks were strong and you could feel a nice buzz after one Long Island Ice Tea "My Drink of choice" We were also recommended to try the paialia which was my first time having that as well and it was absolutely delicious. This was not on the menu tonight, it must have been a special.

Ample space both upstairs and downstairs. + 2 of the 4 sours I had were decent. + Great for kiddos as they have an outdoor space that's family and dog friendly. It was very busy the day we went with a fun atmosphere outside. + Historic venue with a nice restoration for the brewery. The less great: + The setup means long waits. Having to wait in line for beers in a completely packed brewery with two bartenders is not a way to run a business. They need to consider a new strategy for ensuring they can accommodate the volume they are currently doing. + Had a bite of someone's burger and found it more or less inedible. + My parents had attempted to organize a large family gathering on the day we were there and while I wasn't involved in the planning, there seemed to be missteps and miscommunications along the way that weren't met with much empathy or customer service in mind. Too many great breweries in Rochester to waste time on spots that aren't going to ensure guest satisfaction. Great location though! This place is so, so busy it's obvious the east side isn't brewery saturated (somehow) quite yet.

The Detroit style pizza is phenomenal! Perfect crispy crust. I was there on a Friday but came back the next day to try the tomato pie as it was sold out on Friday. It was delicious! Think focaccia with tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese. So tasty! But what is brilliant is that of four pizzas, one rotates each week and changes. I had one of the rotating pizzas: pepperoni, banana peppers, garlic sauce, and honey. It bears repeating, wow! So great! The beers? There's something for everyone! So many hazy/New England IPAs and sours. Great seltzers too! The space is great with room for private parties. Such friendly staff. I hope to come back again before leaving!
