**Disclaimer: I am from NJ. Diners are a religion. I am skeptical of any diner outside of the Garden State** This place is fantastic. Unassuming in Webster NY. Has all the classics and its own flair as well. Very ample menu, but I appreciate the fact that it's not pages and pages of things no one orders. Their selection tells me they sell what they have and, therefore, can expect fresh, high-quality food at a reasonable price. As a nod to the local food scene, we "started" with their version of a garbage plate. One dog and one burger. Was very good. Shared with my son as an appetizer. Was more fun than anything else. But it was tasty, not greasy for what it is. My son then ordered a pastrami Ruben. The portions are excellent. The marble rye and the fries clinically perfect. The pastrami was mid-level deli wog. Kind of a disappointment. I had a turkey club. The best I've had outside of NJ. Clearly house roasted turkey. Perfect toast to meat and veg ratio. Fresh. Delicious. My only knock is YOU DON'T put cheese on a club!!! I'll ask for no cheese next time. The next two points are really how I judge a diner... pickles and coleslaw. Pickles were good. But just good. The Cole slaw was very good. I was happy. Service exceeded my expectations. Really fantastic. Prices very reasonable. Excellent portions. Simply cannot wait to go again and try a burger. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was the strange scent of the diner. We chose to ignore it and stay. The service was mediocre, definitely room for improvement. I ordered an iced coffee and it was so watered down that I barely even tasted it. I got a chicken hoagie, it was alright. The only thing that threw me off was when I was ordering, I was asked if I wanted a side, implying that the hoagie comes with one. Went here for an early breakfast, it was exactly as expected! Staff were very nice, food was standard diner fare.

We come here every few weeks as our dining out. Today we sat at the bar area. Wow- watching the waitress staff work was unbelievable how well they multitask and get everyone squared away. I went here at around 9am on Thursday, June 12, and my fiancée ordered breakfast, and I got a patty melt and fries with a side of beef gravy. The server was an older woman, very sweet, heavy accent. She was very attentive. We placed our order, and the food was brought out pretty quickly, when it came, she asked if we were good n i said could I get the side of beef gravy please? She said oh yeah hold on- a little over 5 mins later, I got the gravy. The burger was advertised as "hand pressed angus".... It was NOT either. This burger was fat as hell. Processed. So I took the top piece of barely toasted bread off to try and slice slice half the burger out bc it was just too big. It didn't look like it was fried, but instead boiled? Idk it was flavorless. So I flip the sand which over to attempt to season this burger to life, and the other side of the sandwich was burnt. So I told my fiancée I wasn't going to eat it, I'd just eat the fries, and that I thought the server would take it off the bill. So she comes to check on us, and asked if I wanted a box. I said no thank you, the patty melt was a bit too well done for me. She never took the burger off the bill. We stopped in for an early dinner, pleased to find this diner open after 2pm. We were the only people so service was fast and friendly. My husband had a turkey club with fries on the side. He enjoyed the sandwich immensely. I had clam chowder which arrived hot and packed with ingredients, just the way I like it. For my entre I had chicken and biscuits, again packed with chicken and gravy with very few carrots (I really liked that). The plate included mashed potatoes. We had an amazing breakfast here on a Saturday morning. I got the salmon benedict with home fries and my boyfriend got poached eggs, sausage and hash browns. It's open again! Maa's had been shut down for covid but new owners have reopened it. There have been some changes to the menu but most items are still there. Food and service are still on point as well! One of the biggest changes (in my kids opinion) are the pancake options. If you are familiar with Steve's diner, they make massive pancakes filled with an array of candy and fruit options. Maa's took a page from their playbook. The pancakes are now enormous. They were so big I had to take one home in a pizza box! The pancakes are so good you don't even need syrup. A bunch of different choices to add into the pancakes too. We had MMs and chocolate chips so far. Not quite as good as Steve but pretty close. Maa's is much more convienient for those in Webster and also quicker service. These are by far the best pancakes in Webster. So if pancakes are your thing, you have to stop in. Maa's is open for dinner. Most diners in Webster arent. Compared to Atlantic, maa's is much better. This should be the go to dinner diner now. The decor is a little lacking but it's a diner, not an expensive restaurant. It's unique and has some charm to it. I'm pretty sure it's family run. Maa! The breakfast! Straight outta the 50s. Ike Eisenhower would approve. It's right on Empire Boulevard. Surrounded by the modernness of modern Webster, Maa's is a landmark removed from time. Like the stone thing at the end of The Lorax, or the Baghdad battery. We entered. There was a specials board that announced our fate. Our density. It was unavoidable. It was our doom. (In like the medieval sense, not like the scary Dr. Doom sense). The noir-style Venetian blind lighting is included! Also of note: free WiFi! How does a 1950s diner accomplish such a thing?? Don't think about it. I ordered the special: cinnamon raisin french toast with raspberry glaze. Friend Dave ordered the breakfast sandwich BUT he wanted Polish sausage added for a slight upcharge. Money was no object; I was paying. My french toast was out of this world! It was an ancient astronaut, coming to greet his progeny millennia after making contact with a primitive. The raspberry glaze was well-proportioned. It was not pie filling (although pie filling is not necessarily a bad thing). The raspberry glaze was also required, as Maa's is not a carrier of Real Maple Syrup. If you're not careful, this sweet-but-not-too-sweet food item will disappear down your gullet faster than you can say "Pad kid poured curd pulled cod"! Or, like, before you can snap more than one picture. Dave's sandwich and hash were totally rad. The shred was shred to perfection. They were also cooked to perfection. A pinch of salt and a dash of pepper, and they were good to go. And the sandwich was the ginchiest. Polish sausage atop melted cheese atop an egg atop the heel of a bun. A lot of atops = a lot of flavor. It may be exponential, actually. The scientists are still working it out. It wasn't the special Polish sausage that made the sandwich bad (bad meaning really good - seriously, catch up on your 1950s slang). The loft in the bread was bitchin'. The cheese melt level was bitchin'. The egg was bitchin'. Friend Dave(who reliably gets breakfast sandwiches as a barometer for food goodness) ranked this one in the top 1%. There were SO. MANY. MORE. types of pancakes and such on the menu. Seriously you could come back here like every week as some sort of ancient-astronaut-worshiping-ritual and have a different pancake each visit. You pay at the counter. But if you're really nice the waitress might just take it up for you. Don't Miss: The variety of all sorts of pancakes. Pro Tip: Early risers beware - the morning sun hits most of the seats in this place. If you don't enjoy sun in your eyes with your flapjacks, sit in the booths not affected by the dawn juice. We had been talking about eating here for a long time, and we finally did this weekend. We got there on a Saturday around 2:00, and we were told we could sit where ever we wanted. The place is very small. Probably like 20 tables. But we didn't have a wait and someone came over to help us right away. If it's really busy, I see how they'd run out of room easily. We took a few minutes to look at the menus, and once we put our order in, the food came out really fast! I couldn't decide, so I got the French toast and an omelet. Both were really good. The omelet came with home fries, which I don't always like, but these were good. The toast with the omelet was also really good and was a texas toast type bread. I had plenty of food leftover to take home. My husband got the Porky platter, which is their garbage plate. I think this is the biggest garbage plate with the most food he's gotten anywhere, and it was also good. The portions and quality of the food was good for prices, so I'm sure we'll be back. However, the reason I'm at 4 stars rather than 5 is that this place is in really rough shape. The booths are so old they actually look dirty. I saw them being cleaned when people left, but they're just so old that they're beyond help. There's other areas that need work here, too. This is a wonderful diner that reminds me of places I used to go to! Not real large but about 12 or so booths and a table or 2. Fabulous atmosphere and food! Dina (I hope I got her name right) was the only waitress working yesterday and she was great! She was busy but kept our orders straight and out fast and our drinks refilled. When it slowed down we talked to her more. We were there BBQ day so I had their chicken kabobs and Greek potatoes and baked beans. These kabobs were grilled so nicely and delicious hot and as a leftover cold! My friend got a huge burger cooked well done with steak fries. Her burger was done perfectly and she said it was delish also! Big servings and decent prices. It has become a new favorite place to eat. This is a nice little diner with great diner food. I stopped in with a friend at noon on a Sunday and it was busy but we were seated within five minutes. There's really nowhere to stand while you're waiting where you aren't in someone's way, so that's a little awkward. I got the bacon and cheddar omelet and it was full of cheese. I would have preferred a bit more bacon, but overall it was tasty. I got hash browns as a side and they were crispy and good. I also had to try one of the candy pancakes and decided on Butterfinger. The pancake is huge! It had lots of crushed up Butterfinger on top. It tasted great and was a lot of fun. We ordered our food and it took well over and hour and when we received our food the chicken was very greasy and our eggs were undercooked which can make you very sick and they charged us for drinks when it's included in the kids meal, So when we should've gotten the food taken off with the drinks the waitress says "there's no manager so I can only take the drink off" and their excuse for the food is there's only 1 cook in right now which we weren't told until after 30 minutes so overall everything was just a waster of time. The coffee was decent and refills were frequent. The potatoes were soft and tasty. The melt was enormous. I could only finish half of it. The toast was soft, the scrambled eggs were fluffy, the cheeses were gooey with cheese pull galore, and the ham was very flavorful without being too salty. Using my trusty Yelp, we came here on a whim as we drove by looking for a place to grab lunch. It appears to be the typical local diner filled with the regulars. I've been to this building during prior ownership and the decor hasn't changed. The blue booths and pink walls are still there and so is the draft next to the windows. Based on the suggestions, I ordered the reuben, which is my go-to at diners. There's a thin line with reubens when it comes to saltiness and their reuben hit it right on. The corned beef, sauerkraut, and cheese were well balanced and tasty. The heaping scoop of mac salad as my side was good too. I find some places use a mayo that has an after taste so I usually skip it, but since my bf was getting fries as a side, I got the mac to try. Their portions are hearty too. Service was great. Our waitress was very friendly, down-to-earth and offered suggestions. She always came by to top off our drinks and check on us. I left here with the energy I need before holiday shopping! read more

It's tough to read all the wonderful reviews about how good Maa's used to be. Sadly, no more! We used to be regulars under the original owners but had only been there a few times under the new ones. It seemed things had slipped a bit but after last night they've reached rock bottom. Since most other places were so busy due to it being Valentine's Day we decided to go to Maa's, even though my daughter, another former regular, had already said no more. One of the first things we noticed was the updates inside which definitely made the place more attractive but it was quite cold. There weren't any drafts but brrrr. My wife ordered a fish fry and I ordered prime rib. We got our salads and right away my wife said the bleu cheese dressing tasted "off", not spoiled but just weird, and the honey mustard on mine was very " different " too, but in a good way. The meals arrived, minus my French fries which came a few minutes later. The fish was greasy and definitely not flaky but very dense. I have no idea what kind of fish it could be but it wasn't good! I started trying to cut a large end piece of my prime rib, only to realize that the entire piece, the size of a small burger, was entirely fat and gristle. The opposite end was tasty but the middle part wasn't tasty or tender. Oh yeah, the fries, mine arriving a little later were made up of all the little bits that fall out of the bag last, overcooked and mostly inedible. Meanwhile, at the booth behind us, there were several meals being sent back to the kitchen because of either improper cooking or just plain cold. Service has noticeably declined since the new ownership. Today we had to keep asking for the same items repetitively (hot sauce, menus, water/coffee, etc...), only to wait and have to remind the server again who forgot. She even admitted it was a slow day. The food was "as expected" and ok but it was just breakfast. I will say, they had great tasting pancakes (tasted like vanilla wedding cake). Yum! Advice for management??? Pour a FULL cup of coffee, not halves, and don't make customers wait a long time for menus after sitting (people are there because they're hungry). Offer refills on coffee/water, to go boxes when you see people are finished eating, and take their money when they want to leave and have been patiently standing for a long time at the checkout counter. We are far from unreasonable, friendly people, and generally not hard to please patrons. In fact, we thought despite bad service, the server was very sweet and more than apologetic which was why we tipped her well. I found today frustrating for this reason. I sincerely wish the new owners luck, and will give 3 stars, along with the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just a bad day, despite being slow. read more

You really can't go wrong with Maa's diner. That is if you like diners, and how can you not? More food than can feed small countries, and made in the most yummy styles. Okay this is a serious place for brunch. We missed brunch today as I'm an eggs Benedict fan, but no worries as they have killer Reubens, burgers and for those that are fans of old school home styled food, hot roast beef sandwiches. You surely won't lose any weight here but the food is sensational. I had a 3 slice bacon cheese burger with added hot sauce on my fries. My date had the hot roast beef. We visited near the end of their day, so maybe that was why it seemed pretty dirty. I had lunch, my wife had breakfast. The pirogies were pretty good, pancakes were mediocre. Again, we came about an hour before they close, pancakes are probably better earlier when the batter is fresher. The service was not that great. The waitress "tossed" the orders onto the table. Half of my soup was on the plate instead of in the bowl. As you can see from the picture, the celery should have been tossed out a week ago. I will say, I left my sunglasses on the table, and the server ran out to the parking lot to catch me before I left, so I'm sure her heart is in the right place... Lots of better diners in town. Now for the suggestions for improvement. First, it needs a good cleaning. The windows are gross with food stick on them and dirty. The floor needs a good cleaning .
