Golden Boys in Webster is an absolute favorite and easily deserves five stars. The breakfast is always amazing and consistently delicious every time we visit. The portions are huge, so you definitely get your money's worth. The service is even better--everyone is always smiling, welcoming, and never rude, which makes the experience so enjoyable. My personal favorite is the Cinnabon pancakes... they are incredible and a must-try. Even the basic breakfast meal is delicious and unbelievably cheap for how much food you get. We had a pleasant lunch on a Friday noon and I was surprised that the diner was only half full. Our selections for 5 were burgers, a salad, and sandwiches with sides and all enjoyed what they had. The prices were reasonable. The server was prompt and friendly. Other reviewers mentioned various incidents of the restaurant's inflexibility. When I asked if soup could be substituted for potatoes with my steak sandwich, the polite answer was "no substitutions, but you can add soup". I declined. Eight-thirty Saturday morning is a good time to arrive, by 9:00 AM the place is really filling up. Yet, there were tables still available. The service is quick. The waitress came by immediately and we asked for coffee and water which she brought over right away. The coffee was delicious. This was our first time at Golden Boys but we will definitely return. One of the draws for the restaurant is that they have real hashbrown potatoes, not the all too common home fries. The waitress suggested the cheesy hashbrowns and they were indeed delicious. We each had omelets, they come with a side of toast and the potatoes of your choice. The cheesy hashbrowns are extra but worth it. The Omelet with Artichoke and Hollandaise sauce was excellent. I added a little salt but the stuffing was excellent. The Golden Boy Omelet has a tomato sauce and Italian sausage, also excellent. There was no rush to turn the table so we talked for a little bit. Worth the wait! Husband and I went on a Sunday around 11AM - which is busy time for breakfast anywhere. We waited about 15 mins before being seated, which is completely reasonable to us! I had a hot cocoa & cannoli French toast. Wow oh wow what a work of art this dish was! Oh yeah, added a side of bacon because obviously needed a protein my husband had a special of the day - asparagus and hollandaise omelet. He said his breakfast (complete with crispy home fries and toast) was delicious. I trust his word as I am not a hollandaise fan. I used to frequent Golden Boys almost weekly when I lived closer to it. I've driven most of the diners in Rochester and Golden Boys was always one of the best. I had some errands running Webster so I decided I would stop by for breakfast today and service was great but the food definitely has lost a step. Now that's being said plenty of other restaurants are charging eight or nine dollars for what these guys charged $650. I was shocked and disappointed to find out I was charged the $1.50 for a slice of cheese on my potatoes that was a new and unwelcome surprise. The bacon I remember was a lot better than what I ate this morning. This morning it was pretty dried out not particularly tasty. And the amount of home fries you get has pretty significantly decreased. today was maybe 65% of what you used to get... So what are we left with? Incredibly expensive cheese, smaller portions, and poor quality. But they got the price 650! This diner is in the heart of the village of Webster. It opens early but closes early most days except Friday. This is my preferred diner in Webster. Note: this place is cash only. They have an ATM inside and citizens Bank is right there too. This keeps the prices low. Typical diner menu but lots of seasonal and daily specials. Prices are great. Cheap kids menu. They even make Mickey mouse pancakes for the kids. Food comes out really fast. I couldn't believe how fast it was. Coffee is refilled constantly. I like coming here for the hometown feel. I've noticed a lot of locals and regulars going for breakfast and lunch so there is a reason why people keep coming back. We usually get breakfast. Everything is always good and the portions are huge for how cheap it is. You get a whole nest of bacon like you can see in my picture. Tons of municipal parking right behind the restaurant. If I had to choose a diner in the Webster area, Golden Boys beats out T's and Ma's. Had never eaten here before but had heard good things. This a a simple tasty diner. The food was served fast and hot. You won't find complicated or anything fancy. My wife had a omelet with artichoke and hollandaise sauce which was delish. My daughter had scrambled eggs and bacon also very good. I had hash and eggs. Not homemade hash but I am not that picky. This is a pretty solid spot for breakfast. I was here for brunch one morning after seeing the huge line at the Waffle factory down the street. This is a big diner. There are 2 separate rooms for dining so my party got a seat pretty quickly. Their menu is big with your typical American breakfast items like pancakes, waffles and eggs. I was starving so I got the steak and eggs. My steak was cooked just how I like it, red in the middle and it was really moist and tender. Very well seasoned too! Caveman bf did me a solid and looked for a new place for Sunday breakfast.. he found this place on his own an it had never ever entered my radar as a big fancy Yelp Elite so he was pretty proud of himself. We parked on the street and went in via the street front door... which turned out to be the "back"..there's a parking lot on the side/back that we missed and a door over there leads to the hostess station. Surprisingly big on the inside with s main room and a large room I didn't at first realize was there! Very busy in that Sunday but we were seated just about immediately. My family and I were looking for a new breakfast spot and thought we'd give this place a shot. On a Saturday afternoon the dining room was full which is always an indication that food is worth it... or so I thought. Waited almost an hour to be seated by an incredibly rude waitstaff. Took over ten minutes for anyone to arrive with menus, silverware or water. To pass time my family and I watched a loud family of 9 by us allow their children to run around screaming and so casually ignoring the glares of everyone around them. When our waitress finally arrived there was no greeting, just a cold "What do you want"... took an additional 10 minutes after our orders were taken to get our coffees. Food was not worth the wait. Eggs were nothing out of the ordinary, homefries were cold and undercooked. Waitress never came back to check on us except to give us our check and we had to hunt her down to pay for our horrible meals. Before leaving I asked to speak to a manager and watched the servers all giggle to one another to decide who was coming out. My server came out only to tell me they were "busy" and that was that. The place is dirty, the food is not even good by diner standards. Nothing is fresh or seasoned beyond oversalting and nobody cares, hourlong wait and the dining room staff just laughs at your remarks. There is no manager, owner or anyone in charge. To top it all off they only give you 0 or 1 free drink refill (depending on your drink) during your nearly 2 hour stay and don't even take credit cards or checks in the 21st century. Nothing comes with any sides, you have to order them separately. Kids spaghetti: Both kids' meatballs were still frozen, sent it back, they came to the table 2 minutes later with the same items but now on piping hot plates (microwaved) the waitress had to use a towel and covered the previously raw meatballs up with lukewarm spaghetti sauce. Mashed potatoes: instant crap, lukewarm and cold throughout and a weird flavor I couldn't place (sour cream or sour milk?). Roast beef with gravy: again bulk packaged frozen beef slices with canned gravy, way oversalted but no other spices to be detected. Southern fried chicken: burnt to a crisp on one end and lightly fried on the other, very fatty chicken, very little seasoning except for salt. read more
