Shiitake Roll
Anisya N.

Nori in the middle of guad feels like a fever dream but it's a classy establishment. Take advantage of happy hour since it's pricey for vegan sushi. All the rolls were top notch but my favorite was the shiitake which had the most complex flavors. Volcano was a second but it being deep fried helps. Dragon roll is so so- lacking some complex flavor. Special shoutout to the cauliflower wings! For the price we paid, I expected better service, felt pretty average. Great spot though!

Food The prices do seem high, but they portions are large for the entrees. The only regret is that we did not try the steak and I hope to come back for that in the future. The Katsu curry is excellent and would highly recommend. Service We had an engagement and birthday and wish I got a little more than a half dead carnation? They were a little late seating us despite the reservation and there was not really a place for us to sit down. Ambiance Such a cute place and nicely decorated. The seats were comfortable and they did seem to be busy even on a Sunday evening.

I had low expectations for this place but omg so good!! I'm a bit of a sushi snob and every roll we had was flavorful and I loved it. Will definitely be returning. This spot is good for vegetarians and non-veg. The interior is cute too and they have an adorable patio

Was running late for my reservation and thankfully they held the spot. Sat at the bar and Val took great care of me. They explained all the details for menu options including the specials, drinks that can be made zero proof, spiked or with THC. I saw they did a Mango Lychee daiquiri and asked if I could have a Lychee martini and they were able to provide. Awesome! Got the volcano roll and the spicy ponzu spring roll. Also they were in Happy Hour from 5-6:30, so a couple bucks off the items ordered. The volcano roll was amazing, you'd never know it didn't have fish in it. The spicy ponzu spring roll was difficult to eat. The roll was not tight enough to hold anything and after the absolute failure on the first one asked for a fork. I'm pretty good with chop sticks so this was disappointing to me. Got the lemon raspberry dessert and another amazing item. Just the right size. The restaurant was modern, loved the light fixtures.

We love coming to this Nori Sushi location for special occasions, and this time we chose it to celebrate my wife's birthday. We made a reservation, and everything went smoothly from the moment we arrived, which always sets a great tone for the evening. They offer a happy hour from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, so definitely try to take advantage of that if you can--it's a nice bonus and makes it even easier to try more items from the menu. We ordered a whole bunch of vegan sushi and rolls, and as always, we were impressed by how creative and beautifully presented everything looked. The plating and decoration of the dishes are still top-notch and very Instagram-worthy. Flavor-wise, we did feel that the food was a bit saltier than we remembered from previous visits. It wasn't enough to ruin the experience, but it's something to be mindful of, especially if you're sensitive to salt. That said, the overall experience was still very enjoyable. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and treated us really well throughout the night, which made the birthday celebration feel even more special. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a date night or celebration. We'll definitely be back again soon and hope the seasoning is a bit more balanced next time.

We always love coming to Nori for any special occasions. Nice vibe, great food, and always super helpful staffs. Always a pleasant experience with Nori. This time we ordered some happy hour menus, which I didn't know they had! We got two different types of baos and some rolls and nigiri sampler! The baos were nice, we preferred the chicken one over the bbq. The miso soup is the one thing we get all the time, it's just so flavorful and nice. This time it was a little bit salty. I would recommend everyone bring some friends and try different rolls together. I quite like Lotus roll myself, and my husband likes Dragon roll'

My friend and I really wanted to eat a healthy meal to balance out our previous not-so-healthy food choices from the week, so we decided to be adventurous and try out Nori. Neither of us is vegan, but we had a pleasant and enjoyable meal. We ordered the Chik'n Karaage, Origami, Tempeh Temple, and Rainbow rolls. I appreciate how creative they made the sushi to spin fish and meat into something plant-based while still keeping it delicious. The only thing that was a bit of a challenge was the service. Our waitress forgot about us frequently, and it took multiple reminders to come back to get our order, for us to get our drinks refilled, and to get the check. I have recommend this place for any vegetarian/vegan friends who want to experience eating sushi.

Rating: 4.3/5 [Doordash Delivery] Our first trying Nori was phenomenal. The second visit was still great, just not quite as impressive as the first. The prices are on the higher side, but the quality is solid overall. Dragon Roll ($16.49): Tempura asparagus, nasu (Japanese eggplant), and cucumber topped with avocado, sweet soy sauce, and sesame seeds. This was my second favorite roll. Spider Roll ($16.49): Soy paper roll with tempura seafood mushroom, spicy toona mix, avocado, radish sprouts, wasabi mayo, and unagi. This was my third favorite roll. Volcano Roll ($15.49): Deep fried roll with spinach, avocado, and sweet potato topped with spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, caviart, and tempura onion. It didn't really taste deep fried, but I'm not mad. The the flavors were on point so it ended up being my favorite roll of the night. Chick'n Karaage ($15.49): Small portion for the price. The chicken was a bit soggy and didn't taste deep fried, though the seasoning was good. Nigiri Sampler ($20.49): Includes six pieces. The tomato "tuna" was interesting. I liked it, but my husband didn't. I couldn't tell what the salmon one was made of. The rest were just okay.

You don't have to be a vegan to appreciate how good this place is. The menu is vegan but creative and interesting for people of all dietary preferences. The service is good and the restaurant itself is very pretty, with decent parking available. They have an even more robust menu for happy hour and weekend brunch and everything we tried was really exceptional.

Delicious food you wouldn't even know was vegan! The hosts are super friendly and the servers have great suggestions! The drinks were also really delicious and cheap ($5 marg Thursdays). The vibe was also really relaxed and fun.

Came here on a date and the ambiance is pretty nice for that. The food was also impressive which made it even better. Chick'n katsu roll: creamy and tomatoey without being wet. The tomato texture is very much like tuna. 3.75/5 Sunflower: The spiciness of the chili and jalapeño is good and gives the roll a deeper umami flavor. I liked the crunchiness from the cucumber and the creaminess from the avocado. 4/5 Nigiri sampler: Salmon wasn't too strong but the green onions were a good touch. Tofu tasted like tofu skin and had a slight sweetness. Tomato was just tomato but the texture was so similar to tuna. 3.5/5 Raspberry Lemon "Cheesecake": More cakey than creamy since it's vegan but it was still good. The fruity sweetness of the raspberry was delicious with the tart sweetness of the lemon. 4.5/5 While the food is good and the craftsmen-ship impressive, it's giving fusion which I'm not very fond of. But still, I would like to come back and taste their other menu items.

Came here with my friend who is vegan, and I was so impressed with the flavors. Ambiance: 5/5: cute small restaurant, with an intimate vibe. Food: 5/5: We had 2 sushi rolls that were packed with great flavors. Also had the edamame and the chick'n karaage and I could not stop eating them. For dessert we had the Belgian chocolate cake which was so yummy too. Drinks: 5/5: my friend appreciated that they had espresso martinis since she cant have them in many places. Service:4.5/5: service was great and the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Only thing to point out is they brought out the dessert when we were still working on our main dishes. Cant wait to come back

We came here on a weekend night and were so glad we did! This had to be some of the best vegan food we've had in a long while. It was our first time having Japanese vegan food, but everything here is made with such care that it tastes like the real thing. We ordered the Zero Proof Pink Flamingo, Brussels sprouts, volcano roll, spicy tan tan ramen, curry with eggplant, edamame gyoza, and the Buddha Roll to-go. Everything here was just amazingly made! It is amazing that everything here is vegan yet has so much flavor. We started off with the Volcano roll, which really did just have a punch and all the right sauces. Our favorite dish was probably the Japanese Curry with eggplant, which was breaded and fried well. The spicy tan tan ramen also had a lot of good flavor with fresh noodles. The food came out very fast and our server came to check in on us every so often. The ambiance was also very nice -- dim and on the smaller side, but it felt like a bar and higher end restaurant, even though it's a basic restaurant with a small parking lot. This place was so good we almost came back during our short stay in Austin. However, there were many other places to try and this place can be difficult to get a reservation, so definitely try to book your reservations early.

Wonderful food. Can't believe it's vegan. Can't wait to go back and the drinks are really good. Great bartenders.

Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. Every roll was enjoyable and I felt like each had a little twist that really made the flavors explosive, like a shaved onion or a crispy puff on the side of the roll. The service was stellar and they were easy to book on OpenTable I also tried the green tea mocktail and found it to be light and refreshing and I was happy that it wasn't super sweet My two favorite items were: 1. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. I always think that is such a sweet gesture.

I particularly went there on a Wednesday to try their A5 Wagyu sandwich, but because I hadn't been there in so long, I wanted to have all the rolls that sounded so amazing on the happy hour menu that I couldn't even get to the sandwich. Every single role we had was absolutely off the charts. They even had a Toro role on happy hour for $10 which was such a steal. The service and ambience was also as usual impeccable. Can't wait to come back here to try the sandwich on another Wednesday

The menu seemed to have changed a bit from last year, but looked substantially the same. We were able to call that day to check for availability and were able to walk in and get a seat for 3 at the hibachi table and didn't have to wait too long to get our orders in and eat. We enjoyed the entertainment the chef provided! We sometimes weren't clear who our server was so it took us a bit to flag the right person down to take a drink order. We ordered chicken, shrimp, steak, and salmon dish options. I had a hot sake too. I liked the onion type soup with mushrooms they offered this year as I'm not generally a fan of traditional miso soup. The place was nicely decorated and we enjoyed the annual experience of eating Japanese hibachi on Christmas Day! I'm sure we will be back again next year!

When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess said that she didn't have the reso on her end; rather than apologizing or making a single effort to fix the issue, she just stared at us. We had to prompt her for clarification and next steps, and had to continue to prompt her through the process of getting us sat. When we finally sat down at a regular table, we waited about 15 minutes without a server coming by. I eventually flagged a server down, and we got our order under way. We requested the manager stop by to tell him about the issue with the reservation and the fact that his hostess needs additional training, and surprise, the manager was also not helpful. He did apologize for our reservation being lost, but blamed it on the system and denied any responsibility for taking care of it - basically just told us that "life is life". He did not offer a discount or any kind of relief for the setbacks or bad service. I wasn't expecting the world or anything, but good hospitality dictates that you do more that basically tell us to just deal with it. For the food: the sushi was pretty gnarly - it looked like somebody was angry at the fish when they were slicing. Most things needed salt. Steak and fried rice was good, but the vegetables were pretty much raw. I can forgive quite a bit when it comes to service, especially on graduation/mother's day weekend. But honestly I'm a little impressed at how little the entire staff cared about their guests.
