The takeout container the restaurant used.
    Henry C.

This comment/review is regarding the takeout containers they're using. The lid and bowl shattered into tiny fragrant upon opening, some of which I wasn't able to find. This review is to encourage them to switch containers because not only is it dangerous to unknowingly ingest plastic micro-fragments but this is also a potential choking hazard. I had to dispose of the noodles but the broth was delicious.

Noodleosophy is local Bay Area chain focusing on hand-pulled noodle dishes, and this location in particular can be found in Millbrae's Social Eatery food hall. As part of Social Eatery, patrons can take a seat within the food hall, place their orders on the provided tablet, and a staff member will bring the food an beverages straight to your table. We decided to get their beef tendon noodle soup and selected the biang biang noodles (you're able to customize the dish to your liking with whatever noodle option you prefer). We also got a side of their pork and shrimp dumplings, because who doesn't love dumplings? The beef tendon noodle soup was rich and flavorful, while the accompanying noodles were perfectly cooked and chewy - providing a great mouth feel to the dish. The dumplings were delicious as well, and were a nice addition to the meal as a whole. If you're ever in the Millbrae area and want a one-stop shop for all your dining and beverage needs, then Social Eatery is definitely the place to go and be sure to enjoy some delicious hand-pulled noodles from Noodleosophy while you're at it!

You just compare the picture. They just add pork that cut into disgusting shapes

Excellent quality, big portion. Fair price.

Good quality . Big portion. Fair pricing. Taste good. Ample parking spaces. This place used to be a Japanese restaurant. But this noodle place is better.

I love noodles, and these ones did not disappoint. We placed our order on a tablet and our food was brought to the table within 15 minutes. I got the garlic biang biang noodles with an egg and tofu.

    Biang Biang Garlic Noodle $12.99

It's BOWL-tiful friendships that last through the times that makes me grateful. Came here with my longtime Dental Hygiene friend to catch up. Located inside Social Eatery .:: FOOD ::. Biang Biang Garlic Noodle $12.99: Comes with a mountain of bean sprout, broccoli, and biang biang noodles topped with garlic, ginger, cilantro and green onion. A little spicy kick to it. Loved the texture of the noodle, but wish we were able to add things to it, as it was plain without any meat. .:: Service / Ambiance / Parking ::. Terrible Service. Pretty much self service on everything. You order on your phone through QR code. Wait was super long and unorganized. Located inside Social Eatery, but there's no waitlist, no way to put your name down. You literally just wait at the door in line (very narrow if I may add), until a table opens up. They need to at least let you write your name down. My friend wanted to ask if we could add something on our order and the waiter was so rudely annoyed. He did a big sigh, rolled his eyes and was like no your order is in you cannot add anything. It was SO hard to flag ANYONE down, we just went up and grabbed things ourselves: napkins, to go box, etc. All the waiters literally did was bring food out and thats it. The place has a cute little exterior outside, when I went it was during Halloween week, it was decked out in Halloween decors. The inside had logs / wooden vibes as table. There were ones in high chairs, ones with benches, ones with low tables/ chairs. Parking was scary. The parking lot is SO narrow and small. I feel like its asking for an accident to happen. I would recommend parking on the street, its much more space and safer.

    Picked veggie beef noodle soup

It was our first time to Millbrae Social Eatery. This food hall is one of those where you can sit and prder by ipad. Ordered the picked veggie and sliced beef noodle soup with rice noodles, spicy, and a boba drink. The portion for the soup was huge and could have been shared. Both lacked flavor and depth, so I was disappointed in my meal since I have had better in SoCal. The service was okay, except that they gave us the wrong order a couple times. All in all, it was an acceptable experience to try once.

My go-to place for noodles and clay pot rice. Great tasting soup noodles with lots of flavor. The texture of the noodles was perfect... not too soft and not too chewy. I decided to try the special beef rib noodles this time. The flavor was good, but I wish there were less fat on the rib. I'll be back to try the other flavors.

Beef rice noodle with fried tofu (extra $1.50)

The food here is excellent, but don't expect the service to be like a normal restaurant. Noodleosophy is one kitchen located inside Social Eatery, and the vibes are more like a self-service place where you order on your phone and wait for someone to bring out the food. We tried the beef tendon stew with biang biang noodles, and the beef stew rice noodle soup. I thought the beef stew rice noodle came with fried tofu based on the picture, but it seems like you have to pay extra $1.50 to add the tofu. Both dishes had the same soup base, but differed in the type of noodle. I preferred the rice noodle because of the roundness and chewy texture. The biang biang noodles were also pretty good, but were on the thinner side and softer side, and I wish they were a bit chewier. However, the broth was what made the dish so good: the broth was slightly spicy but very flavorful and savory. Also, both dishes had a generous serving of flavorful beef which I appreciated. Unfortunately, dine-in charges a default 15% service fee regardless of your party size, and this is a no-tip establishment because of this fee. I think this is a great option to grab a meal because the noodle soups are delicious, but just don't expect a full restaurant service here.

Beef stew, tomato egg beef stew

Cute 3 in one restaurant called Social Eatery with modern Japanese decor. They have Noodleosophy, Rice Monster, and Grapeholic (milk tea) in here. We were here for Noodleosophy. We got the tomato egg beef stew and chose biang biang (wide) noodles and mild spicy. This was delicious and it was very mildly spicy. You can choose your noodles type and spice level: mild or hot. Secondly, we got the beef stew with ramen no spice. This was decent. It had broccoli in it which was unusual. Bok choi would have been better suited. It had daikon too. Also the ramen is regular noodles, not Japanese ramen. Menu and ordering is through a tablet so there's no paper menu. But our orders we $16.99 per bowl. There's a foosball table and some board games there if you have time to play. They closed at 8:30pm but this place would make a great night time Asian dessert spot if they ever add that. The restaurant is slightly hidden off the main street. There's a parking lot in front.

This place is inside a building called 'Social Eatery with a parking lot in front. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating (with electric plugs!). Ambiance is young and trendy. Imagine foosball table - neon lights - boba . Food came quickly ! It felt like they had it premade already. Like others have mentioned, you don't order in person but via a QT code through your phone and staff brings in your food. Options on noodle type, spice levels and add-ins. My one gripe is that if you wanted dry noodles you would have to order garlic noodles. There were no dry noodles with a meat option ! Noodles were a good serving size. But I have a soft spot for Biang biang boodles. I ordered the Beef tendon. It was not too salty or spicy Their spice level is mild and this is coming from someone who doesn't eat much spice. Boba drink was creamy and not overly sweet. Will definitely return! Also a solid spot to order takeout !

We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

Clean modern space, service checked in frequently and water refills were good. They answered any questions I had and provided good suggestions. Everything was prepared well. There was some waiting for different parts as some came from the kitchen and some from the chef. Since it was busy it definitely set things back a bit. Everything from the chef had a simple description for what it was. My faves for the meal were the scallop sashimi, the chiwan mushi, the yakimono, king salmon, and med fatty tuna. The scallops were flavorful, and just melted. Probably the best bite that I had. The cuts of fish were great. I liked how simple the chiwan mushi was. Definitely was great with the cold weather. The yakimono the butter wasn't overpowering and was well balanced with the ingredients. There was also a fried appetizer that was good but the name of it escapes me. Certainly worth the price tho if I had more people with me, I would definitely get reservations.

But right before we left, my husband looked up the hours and said, "Wait... it's called Taste of Four Seasons now?" Uh, what? Did Earl Spicy close? Yelp still showed it alive and well, so we decided to go check it out anyway. My heart was already committed. We got there around 7 PM on a Friday. A few tables were filled -- seemed like a good sign. Plenty of servers, but no sign of the old owner. I started feeling a little nervous. We looked through the menu... no spicy grilled fish. Cue quiet panic. I pulled out my phone and showed the server a picture from our last visit. She said they still have it -- it's just made differently now and it's really good. Also, they now use a fresh fish called 多寶魚 instead of the frozen fish Earl Spicy used. Now, my husband and I thought we had decent Chinese, but we had no idea what 多寶魚 was. We stared at the tank she pointed to, still clueless. And honestly, if Earl Spicy really used frozen fish, they fooled us -- it never tasted frozen. I asked how much it was, since it wasn't on the menu. She said $42 per pound, usually around 1.5 pounds. I figured maybe $65-70. More than Earl Spicy's $48 XL version, but hey -- I am here for it. We ordered a few other dishes too. First came the "New Style Sweet and Sour Pork & Shrimp." The menu said pork and chicken, but the server said it was a typo -- it's actually pork cheek and shrimp. It ended up being the best dish of the night. The shrimp was excellent, 5/5. The pork cheek was good too, just a little fatty -- maybe 4/5 for me. My husband wanted Szechuan pepper chicken. The server said the kitchen could make it, even though only a tea-flavored version was listed. What we got was stir-fried chicken with jalapeños. Not deep-fried, not spicy, just... dry. It didn't really land. My son's friend loves fried rice, so we got the $19.95 special fried rice. It came out shaped like a fish -- super cute. First bite though? "Why is this so hard and dry?" the kids asked. I tried it -- yup, same. Crunchy in a weird way, like it had been sitting on the heat too long. I asked the server, and she apologized and had the kitchen remake it. The second version was slightly better, but still dry. Maybe that's just how they do it. Next came the salted fish eggplant casserole. It was only $9.85, but no one really touched it. Just not great. And finally, the main event: the fish I'd been dreaming about. It arrived in the same tray as before, but no tea light underneath. Not a big deal. They'd added a mountain of flat noodles (河粉) underneath, but the fish itself? Dry. Bland. Not the spicy grilled fish I remembered. The sauce was thin, almost like gravy, and the noodles were just soaked sadly in it. A friendly lady (maybe the new owner?) came by and explained that the restaurant now serves southern Chinese-style food, which is different from Earl Spicy's. I smiled politely, but inside I was crying, Why didn't you say that before we ordered? She brought out complimentary glass jelly for dessert -- nice touch. I liked it, but the kids thought it was too bitter. Then came the bill. The fish? $111.77. I did a double take. How was that 2.6 pounds?! I thought about asking, but my husband gave me the look: "Let's just go." So we paid. With tax and tip, the total came out to nearly $240. Final verdict: RIP Earl Spicy. You were loved. You are missed. As for Taste of Four Seasons? Once was enough.

We reviewed the menu, and very quickly ordered the ankimo to start. As it is a yakitori place, we also ordered some skewers: Akaushi beef (salt/pepper and spicy), the pork belly, the beef tongue, chicken thigh and saba. Kiddo had his usual Tonkatsu ramen. Everything was delicious! I really enjoyed the charcoal taste to everything! And the kiddo gave two thumbs up for his ramen... and as we looked around the other rooms, we noted everyone had a ramen bowl, so that was definitely a big win. Service was attentive. I also marked down on our OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating an achievement and it wasn't mentioned.
