Small restaurant with decent food but slow service. Luckily we booked a table ahead of time, there were many people waiting, not sure if it's to go or waiting for a table. We ordered all the food at once but took a long time to arrive. The tempura paste was too thick. The grilled squid seemed to be missing something. The chipotle mayo is normally accompanied by something fried. The fish quality was good. Parking in the back behind La Quinta .

So much fresh sushi and great food!

Omakase 2026 for the win! Want reasonable Omakese? Here is your place. It has everything you need: presentation, fresh fish, friendly service, and you don't need a reservation! Parking is below the hotel where this restaurant is located. The Omakese has some great finds, such as the back of the fish as well as the body. Amaebi fish head soup with crab, some fresh toro, some hamachi belly, and other sushi treasures. Their Omakese changes all the time, so you never know what you'll get. I absolutely love their ankimo when they have it, and I feel their ankimo is one of the best tasting in the Bay Area. Definitely recommend this place over and over again!

Bashamichi is our go-to spot for holidays when we aren't hosting at home. We've visited on Thanksgiving, and this year, Christmas, and it's not only convenient that they are open, but also delicious! Service is always quick and the restaurant has never been too crowded or noisy (but acknowledging that we do tend to go on holidays). We always get the Bashamichi Roll, a bento box, and fresh sashimi. Sometimes we do agedashi tofu and mixed tempura as well. Their sashimi is always so fresh and they give beautiful cuts - our favorites are the walu and salmon. Both the salmon and beef teriyaki are cooked well and the bento box is a great value. Agedashi tofu and mixed tempura are reliable. The Bashamichi Roll is a must! Sometimes we also order the Bashamichi Set which comes with nigiri, california roll, and sashimi. This set is such a great deal and we've never been disappointed by the nigiri selection. They also seem to have a private room in the back that can fit 8-10 people. Overall, Bashamichi is reliable and affordable. We've been visiting for a couple years now and will definitely continue to do so!

Interesting location at the La Quinta and almost obscure entry way. I've driven on this street a million times and only discovered the restaurant today from searching on yelp. Street parking is available. This is your typical Japanese bento box / sushi rolls place run by Chinese people. For $23 a bento box with three items, it offers a variety of options including salmon, saba, teriyaki / fried meat, sashimi. Most food items tasted fine but not memorable - while others such as the sukiyaki beef and katsu could use better quality meat and more tenderizing. The table and serving ware were cleaner and more organized than most other Japanese bento restaurants I've been to. +1 star for the cleanliness and the trendy wallpaper.

In front of hotel so be aware. Sign said parking in back or something I forgot Service 9/10 friendly, efficient Solid bento 8/10, visiting family so I'm not used to bay area pricing but I imagine 22 for 3 item isn't bad. Food overall is ~4.5 stars and parents enjoyed it a lot, dad doesn't always compliment stuff, we typically like bentos. So no sashimi comments here. Round up for overall everything being reasonable, solid and good. Food quality: Bentos generally I care if the meet is overcooked, tough, dry, and I look at tempura quality cause if it's below a certain point I regret ordering it. Tempura 5.5/5 - actually flaky, crispy, light, they give you a lot, this is something I enjoy and it isn't easy to please me persay but I'm not at snob levels yet, I eat whatever is given for the most part haha Beef teriyaki 5/5 - as good as it gets without being actual high tier meat and that is not the standard for this place. Sauce is good, and meat done well. Not pictured but sampled a piece Salmon Teriyaki 4.5/5 - solid not much to say, soft, not overdone, if anything could be a little more so it could have some grill/crisp factor on the outer side but it's flaky and soft so, I don't think anyone would be disappointed. Chicken 3.6/5 - seemed slightly softer than I'm used to so maybe they blanched it but it was fine. Not undercooked, sauce was necessary imo but I have higher threshold for salt and savory things than most people. Miso was good, dressing on salad was actually something I like a lot, it's the sweet savory white dressing that I speculate might be diluted kewpie and something else but I don't know. Dressing is amongst the top japanese dressings, only the best ginger ones are better imo - subjective since this is a cheap dressing I feel like but I like it.

Came back for lunch and maybe dinner is better? Lunch was a 3.5 star experience. Ordered the beef teriyaki and sashimi. I have to say, the 4 slices of sashimi were nice and thick and tasted oh so fresh! The salmon was good and the white tuna buttery and melted in your mouth! Why the low rating? The beef teriyaki was tough and lukewarm. We were the only diners in the restaurant so I don't think it sat for a bit. Also, the salad was a bit tasteless. Tasted more like thousand island on lettuce. The service was good, the guy was nice about refilling our tea. The ambiance was chill since we were the only ones dining for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. I think I'll try it again because I really liked the sashimi.

High quality fish and good service. Easy to miss because it's on a busy street, but I'd definitely come back and return. I enjoyed the sushi, as well as the #1 hand roll. Nice ambiance.

I'm going to start with the pro and end with the cons. Food is actually pretty good here and their bento box lunch is a hit of a deal. 3 items is about $24ish and there's no +$1 or +$2 for premium items on the list like some other places do. It's located within a hotel block and parking is not too bad on El Camino. Their fish is fresh and there's an abundance of seating for a typical sushi restaurant. Con is that food takes forever to come out. The first time we came here was as a party of 8. Yes that's a pretty big party but mind you, there were only 4 other people in the entire restaurant. Our food took 40 minutes to come out! We literally had to go up to the counter to ask what happened. But all the food was suddenly ready so we sat back down. We were also not the only party that was frustrated. There was a couple that got up and just left after the brutal wait. If you're in for a treat, just prepare for a wait.

Such a GEM!! This place is hidden on the first floor of the La Quinta, and apparently you can guest park in their parking lot. Despite that, it was packed during weekend dinner! The fish quality is insane for the prices. I loved the nigiri a lot, as well as my negihama maki! I'll definitely be coming back.

Fresh fish, delicious rolls, and perfectly fried tempura! This restaurant is sort of hidden. It's attached to a motel, not in a super busy part of town. There's street parking outside but I believe you can also park in the motel's parking lot. The restaurant space is long and narrow, but there is a bar with seating and ample seating for small and big parties. The staff were quite busy the Friday night we were there but the food came out promptly after we ordered. Everything we had was delicious. The mix tempura was a great portion size for the price and nicely fried. We had the Bashamichi Roll, Sunrise Roll, and Lion King Roll (all the recommended special rolls). The rolls were great - not too much rice and each bite was actually unique its own ways. Sometimes I feel like rolls can just taste all the same but this wasn't the case.

The sushi here was okay overall. I tried the Treasure Box and the tempura. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the tempura--it had just the right texture and was cooked perfectly. As for the Treasure Box, I found it a bit disappointing, especially the toro, which didn't quite meet my expectations. That said, one of the white fish pieces stood out--it tasted great and had a spot-on texture. Would I come back? Probably not. I get the sense that a lot of people come here for the rolls, but since I'm not a fan of rolls, it just wasn't the place for me.

    Spicy tuna roll
    Ashley Y.

Let me preface by saying I'm not usually a picky person... Can't speak to their treasure box, but not the place to go for rolls if you're a true raw fish person. Their rolls are largely vegetarian or imitation crab. Wanted something that was salmon or tuna based, ended up getting the 49er roll mistakingly thinking it was going to be more fish based, though its entirely my fault I didn't read more closely. Also ordered a side of the spicy tuna roll. I do think this is a relatively standard roll and it didn't taste right. Couldn't taste the tuna, it was extremely mushy and watery, and just felt like eating the sauce with a scoop of fish. Hopefully it was just me, but not sure I would come back for redemption

Treasure chest $68. Omakase. Chef's choice of nigiri.

We were seated right away, and the restaurant itself is clean, nice, and spacious. I can imagine it getting packed during peak hours--and honestly, it should. I'm going straight to the point: Han Sang has the best Galbi Jjim I've ever had. I've been to other places (which shall remain unnamed) that proudly claim they have the best Galbi Jjim, but I'm happy to say I've finally found the one. At the same time, I'm a little sad because I live in SoCal, which means I can't just come here whenever the craving hits. This dish checked every box imaginable. The beef was incredibly flavorful, fall-apart tender, and they gave a generous amount of meat. And when I say meat, I mean actual meat--not a pile of bones disguised as a serving. (Yes, that's coming from past restaurant trauma.) You definitely get your money's worth here. The rice cakes were cooked perfectly and soaked up all that rich, savory sauce. Then came the surprise waiting at the bottom: glass noodles. Not the usual thin ones either--these were thicker, chewier, and absolutely delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor. The entire dish was so satisfying it genuinely made me happy. We also ordered the Chadol and Yangji Suyuk, a beef brisket soup that was exactly what we needed on a cold evening. The brisket was tender, and as expected, the broth arrived lightly seasoned so you can adjust it to your liking. After adding a little salt, pepper, and some ssamjang, it became the perfect comforting bowl of soup. Warm, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try their Bossam because the portions were huge and we could barely finish what we ordered. That's not a complaint--if anything, it's the perfect excuse to come back. Maybe this is what people mean when they say they left their heart in San Francisco. Mine might actually be sitting in a bowl of Galbi Jjim at Han Sang.

Leek Pancake - This was made so well, it was thin yet crispy and held together well. The leeks gave a subtle flavor and were a little tough to bite through but it tasted so good, especially dipped in the side sauce. Yangji Chadol Sul Long Tang - At first glance, this setup is so nice with the assortment of sides at the top to the different items you can add into the soup. I loved the fish cake side as well as the kimchi which they do give refills of. It was nice being able to add seasoning in the soup to match my taste and so perfect combined all together with the radish side sauce. The meat is pretty generous and soft as well with the thin chewy noodles. Such a healing comforting dish. In addition to the food, the workers were so kind and attentive, always helping us to refill our side dishes when needed. Probably one of the best sul long tangs I have had and I keep coming back time and again for it.

We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

The scallops were flavorful, and just melted. Probably the best bite that I had. The cuts of fish were great. I liked how simple the chiwan mushi was. Definitely was great with the cold weather. The yakimono the butter wasn't overpowering and was well balanced with the ingredients. There was also a fried appetizer that was good but the name of it escapes me. Strangely, although this place seems to share a kitchen with Social Eatery, the rice was cooked much more poorly here, which is obviously a shame for a place specializing in clay pot rice. It seems like the rice had too much water added, so it was a bit overcooked - you couldn't feel the "single grain" mouthfeel texture you should expect from well-cooked, high quality rice. Since the rice was too mushy, it obviously didn't crisp well either. Though it had some small amount of bits stuck to the edges of the metal (not clay!) pot, it was definitely not the super crispy, well browned "faan ziu" I expect, and not at all like the pictures featured in some earlier reviews of this restaurant.

They were super kind to explain the menu and very attentive. I was very surprised with the curry because the initial taste was sweet then it settled down into a delicious taste of Japanese curry. I've never really taste anything like this before in terms of curry and I very much enjoyed it. Also love it how they have 5 different spices that you can sprinkle in the curry - I tried level 1 which is good. Katsu was well made. Also ordered their new "cream cheese udon" - Wow! Indeed it was creamy, chewy, with the choice of bacon and mushroom, it made the dish wonderful.

Stopped by here on a Friday night with some friends who were craving Hainanese Chicken. When we got…read moreto the restaurant, I remembered I had come here about a year ago, and the menu had totally been revamped, either that or it was the lunch menu. Anyways we got seated quickly, and I began with a nice cold beer and we started looking at the menu. We instantly had to get the baked pork chop w. Spaghetti as that was pretty much our childhood choice, going to HK style places. We grabbed some fried fish skin in salted egg yolk and fried chicken in salted egg yolk as we haven't had that before. Both were good. I definitely never had that chicken in salted egg yolk before but it seemed to work well. We got a half order of the Hainanese chicken, and that was delicious with the sauces provided. You can never go wrong with dim sum, so we got the sui mai, har gow, steamed pork ribs, and chicken feet. All were comparable to what you would get at a dim sum restaurant in the morning, but instead we had it at 8pm! Overall, the ambiance of the place is nice and quiet, with a few families eating out, and some college students enjoying a meal. The waiters would frequently stop by and refill our water cups whenever they were near empty, I probably would have got rice but my friends wanted spaghetti with the baked porkchop, overall a great place for a meal with dim sum too!
