    basil eggplant $18

Good O PPQ. It is always a great meal here. Food and service are solid. One of our longtime cycling friends have not been here before so it gave us a chance to bring him. He loved it and is a very picky eater. Meal for four adults and two kids was $420. Service fee is automatically added. We ordered separate dishes as supposed to the set meals. We had crab asparagus soup, two garlic noodles, peppercorn crab, roasted crab, shrimp papaya salad, sea bass, tofu, eggplant and string beans. Everything was fine. They have changed the recipe for the peppercorn and wasn't as good as before. Regardless. Good meal. Thank you everyone at PPQ.

I've been to their SF location numerous times and always ordered the fixed menu, it always seemed like a good deal. BUT boy has those prices climbed up! It was almost not worth it anymore. I made reservations through YELP, no issues there, easy peasy. When we arrived, we go seated right away near the window. We ordered the fixed meal and 1/2 dozen fresh oysters. :) Fresh oysters - fresh and very good! :) Chicken salad w/fish sauce dressing - good but nothing really special, I remembered it to be better in SF location but that was a long time ago. :) Egg rolls - I love their egg rolls, wish they gave us more. Piping hot and stuffed with yumminess inside :( Egg yolk crab - I know Crab season have not opened up yet and it shows in the crab. My first bite was a mushy mealy texture but luckily, it was only on that 1 bite. The egg yolk flavor was not as deeply flavored as I would like it to be... I've had better at the SF location and other establishments. Wish we ordered the butter garlic one instead. I wish I came out feeling I got a good value and deliciousness for the bucks I spent.

Came here at 5pm on a Saturday to celebrate my niece's 17th birthday. At this time, it was easy to find parking and we were seated immediately. There were 10 of us so we ordered the dinner for 10. Everything was delicious! The staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean, comfortable and didn't feel too crowded. We enjoyed a delicious meal with 3 crabs. As you can see, I forgot to take a picture of most of the dishes until we were finished eating. We still had enough to bring leftovers home.

Made reservations on Yelp for 5, on Christmas Day for 3:45PM. Wanted to eat before the rush and crowds came. Good decision. We were the first ones in and then the crowds started to stream in. 2 of my kids don't really eat crab, one said it's too much work, lol. We started with the fried calamari and it was just okay. Definitely from frozen. I've had better. I think maybe we should have had the fried spring rolls instead. We ordered the steak cubes for the non crab eaters and albeit it was very tender the taste was more on the sweet side. Maybe we should have opted for the peppercorn short ribs instead. Garlic noodles are always a must. Goes well with anything and everything. We ordered the two grabs and both were delicious. I definitely sat on the wrong side of the table bc the crabs were sitting in front of the 2 big crab eaters. No claw left unturned. Love the sauce of the roasted crab, it's so good on rice and the salted egg yolk has a delicious flavor as well. I could probably eat one crab to myself.

PPQ never disappoints! We normally go to the location in SF, but we're closer to the airport and decided to come to this location. There is a lot so parking here is super easy! The restaurant is also large, open and airy! Service is always efficient and friendly. In this visit we ordered the $200 family meal and it was amazing! Crab is always perfect, and this comes with garlic noodles, fried spring rolls, green beans, barbecued pork and fish. Everything was so, so good! And everyone got to choose which ice cream cone they wanted for dessert. Will probably only come to this location from now on to avoid the problem I always have finding parking in the city!

Great spot for crab sets for big or small groups! We love coming here with a large group since they have set menu options that are easy. My favorite crab is the peppercorn, but they're all so good! They have a lot of Various crab options from steamed to fried, so there's something for everyone. The chicken, garlic noodle, veggies, and steamed bass are all amazing as well. We added on a salted egg yolk shrimp which was really unique and delicious, like salted egg yolk chips! The interior is clean and casual, a nice atmosphere for chatting. The service was really good, everything came out quickly and we were never wanting for anything! One of the best crab spots!

We ordered the imperial roll, crab and asparagus soup, beef cubes, steamed sea bass, string beans, shrimp fried rice and roasted crab in garlic butter. Everything came out delicious. Service was awesome and the restaurant is nice and spacious. The crab was already cut up in smaller pieces. It was excellent.

Same PPQ family recipes, without the trek to the City. Though the search for parking is as equally exhausting as their Richmond District spot. Attentive albeit slow service each time we've visited, from an intimate table for 3 to our extended family of 21. No frills decor. Large dining room with over a dozens tables, including large service for 12 with oversized lazy Susan's. Heads up for larger groups: PPQ Millbrae imposes an 18% service charge on all dine-in parties, and a 20% charge for groups of 10 or more. According to their written notice, this fee is used by management to offset employee wages and benefits. Automatically charging 18%, no matter the party size, and bumping it up to 20% for larger groups, removes the guest's discretion entirely. Though we willingly tip 18-20% based on service, not a fan of this policy--It's excessive and unconventional. Catch the game and Happy Hour at the bar with specials: Monday - Friday (except holidays), 3:30 - 5:30 pm. PPQ Dungeness Island is excellent. The peppercorn crab is the star, and the peppercorn short ribs are just as impressive. The garlic noodles are flavorful, and the five-spice chicken, charbroiled beef, fish maw soup, and pea sprouts are all delicious. Everything we tried was very tasty and well done.

Great food/service. We came on an empty night, quickly seated and served. I had the house crab and garlic noods. Crab was huge to me, fresh and flavorful. A little pricy though. Garlic noodles were ok.. I added chili oil and hot sauce to add flavor which was better.

Fried rice and roasted Dungeness crab.

Fantastic service and delicious crab. The Dungeness crab is typically about $80 for a large crab. They were able to accommodate gluten restrictions easily. We would definitely go again.

When we got…read moreto the restaurant, I remembered I had come here about a year ago, and the menu had totally been revamped, either that or it was the lunch menu. Anyways we got seated quickly, and I began with a nice cold beer and we started looking at the menu. We instantly had to get the baked pork chop w. Spaghetti as that was pretty much our childhood choice, going to HK style places. We grabbed some fried fish skin in salted egg yolk and fried chicken in salted egg yolk as we haven't had that before. Both were good. I definitely never had that chicken in salted egg yolk before but it seemed to work well. We got a half order of the Hainanese chicken, and that was delicious with the sauces provided. You can never go wrong with dim sum, so we got the sui mai, har gow, steamed pork ribs, and chicken feet. All were comparable to what you would get at a dim sum restaurant in the morning, but instead we had it at 8pm! Overall, the ambiance of the place is nice and quiet, with a few families eating out, and some college students enjoying a meal. The waiters would frequently stop by and refill our water cups whenever they were near empty, I probably would have got rice but my friends wanted spaghetti with the baked porkchop, overall a great place for a meal with dim sum too!

I'd say this café is definitely comparable to Orchid Café! We ordered the pineapple bun, baked cutlet rice, and Typhoon shrimp fried rice. The pineapple bun was excellent -- soft and bouncy inside with a buttery, flaky crust. It paired really well with their Hong Kong milk tea. However, the milk tea was a bit too sweet and slightly watery for my taste. I prefer a stronger tea flavor with a silkier texture. The baked cutlet rice with curry sauce was flavorful and comforting, but the cutlet crust was a little soggy. If it had been crispy, it would have been perfect. The Typhoon shrimp fried rice was really good -- very aromatic, topped with crunchy Typhoon-style garlic, and it had great wok hei. I've heard their Hainanese chicken rice is also really good, so I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Looks like Orchid Café has some serious competition in Millbrae now

Curious, as I've always bemoaned the general lack of Southeast Asian options around, but, for whatever reason, I would always pass by without a second thought. However, after finding out from one of my old coworkers that this was where she'd go to whenever she had cravings for her childhood favorites, I knew I had to check this place out...and come back to try even more! Ironically enough, while Ipoh's location makes them super convenient to get to (there's lots of street parking around and SamTrans, BART, and Caltrain are all a short walk away), their nondescript appearance can make them easy to miss if you aren't looking. However, inside, this place is great! The vibe is super cozy and they have tables for groups large or small. As for the menu, it's extensive and chock full of options, from staples like Hainanese Chicken, Laksa, Mee Goreng, Nasi Lemak, Char Koay Teow, and Roti Canai. With nearly 70 other appetizers, soups, noodle soups, vegetarian, poultry, seafood, beef, lamb, stir-fried noodle, rice plates, and desserts to choose from, though, that's far from all they have to offer! -- (#A01) ROTI CANAI - Malaysian Crispy Pancake with Curry Sauce I've had this a few times now (and still no photo) and it's been really tasty every time. The roti is flakey with a lot of layers to it and I LOVE the curry dipping sauce that comes with it. Definitely worth getting! -- (#NR01) CHAR KOAY TEOW - Stir-fried Flat Rice Noodles with Shrimp, Squid, Bean Sprouts, Chives, Eggs, and Soy Sauce I've had this twice and I'm a bit torn. The first time, it was terrific - the noodles were cooked well, they didn't skimp on the seafood, and the dish was straight up delicious. However, the second time, the noodles were overcooked and the dish felt light on seafood. -- (#NR07) NASI LEMAK - Coconut Rice with Peanuts, Chicken Wings, Hard Boiled Egg, Chicken Curry Acar, Onion, and Chili Paste Ehh...this was just okay. The chicken curry was rich, the chicken wing was crispy and moist, and the rice had a strong coconut flavor. Sadly, though, the rice felt a little grainy/undercooked, the acar was really tart, and I wish the chicken had more curry. -- (#N02) LAKSA MEE - Spicy Red Coconut Curry Soup with Yellow Noodles, Shredded Chicken, and Mixed Vegetables Not the best laksa I've had, but it was one of the better ones and easily one of the heftiest. Not only was there a generous amount of chicken, but there was a ton of veggies in this, too. That said, it did make this feel like it didn't have enough noodles in it. -- (#D1) MALAYSIAN ICED TEA Not quite what I expected, but not bad either. I thought this was going to be more like a regular iced tea, rather than a milk tea, but at least it wasn't overly sweet nor overly milky. -- (#P01) HAINANESE CHICKEN with Chili Ginger Sauce A bit different from Chinese Hainan Chicken, but I liked this a lot. The chicken felt meatier, was far more tender, and it didn't have a bunch of bones. I also liked that they drizzled on some soy, but it did make it a little on the salty side. -- (#V03) STRING BEANS BELACHAN - Sauteed Green Beans with Garlic, Onions, and Malaysian Shrimp Paste Sauce To be honest, this was pretty unremarkable. On the plus side, the sauce on this was good and the string beans weren't overcooked. On the other hand, the string beans could've been blistered more and could've used more of the sauce. -- (#BL03) BEEF IN GREEN CURRY with Potatoes, Eggplant, Okra, and Green Beans Other than the choice of meat (I would've preferred chicken), this was great! While I wish the curry had been richer/creamier, it tasted spot on, there was a fair amount of beef, and it was loaded with veggies. Beyond the food, service here is pretty good as well. The workers are all really nice and happy to offer suggestions/help with the menu, the kitchen gets dishes out relatively fast, and I love that they don't really try to rush people to leave even at the end of the night. Since there just don't seem to be many Malaysian restaurants in the Bay Area, it'd be easy to say that Ipoh ranks among the best. However, the things I've tried have legitimately been pretty good. Nothing in particular may have amazed, but it's more than solid and I'd absolutely come back for their Hainanese Chicken, Laksa, and the first version of the Char Koay Teow I had!

You can there that there's no shortcuts with the dishes, nothing is watered down, everything is just real. The coconut chicken soup is something out of this world. It's not spicy at all. I can't describe it but it was really delicious, as with all the other dishes. The service was amazing and they even amended some of our dishes so that we could feed it to our kid (non-spicy). I really like this restaurant. Only such a shame we live so far now and only just discovered it. I'd visit again if I'm around.

While there are a few highlights, several dishes don't quite justify the premium pricing. The Burmese beef and lamb curries are really good--the meat is consistently tender and the flavors are deep and well-developed. We also really enjoyed the rainbow salad and the paratha with curry sauce, though both felt overpriced for what they are. Other menu items have been disappointing: * Catfish Chowder: This was fairly average and bore a strange resemblance to pea soup. * Walnut Broccoli Chicken: Another mediocre dish that failed to leave an impression.

Quail + Crane is situated on the 3rd floor of the airport connected hotel. If you can get a seat close to the floor to ceiling windows; one can see the airport and even some planes. I've only dined in for breakfast/or brunch, and so I can't speak much about the dinner offerings. But, I can say that the food has been delicious each time I've eaten here. I absolutely love Eggs Benedict, and so it's a no brainer for me if it is on the menu. One can upgrade the dish to include Thai style Dungeness crab cakes, and it is worth every penny. Service here is also warm and inviting. Depending on where one is going, the time of the flight, the time of season, and overall time one has; staying at Grand Hyatt SFO and getting a bite at sit down, in this case Quail + Crane; makes all the difference for a long journey ahead.

Restaurant is very open with great views of airport terminals and airfield. Servers were very friendly and helpful, especially Flora. I ordered a cocktail and we brought a bottle of wine from home to enjoy. The smoked poke was very good and also really cool when they took the lid off at the table. We also noted that it was the first time we've had something like this that had enough wontons on the side. Normally you always run out. Not here. The sushi was good but very small for the price. The last thing we ordered was pasta with foraged mushrooms. This was our least favorite. Was expecting a creamy earthy pasta with the mushrooms but the mushrooms almost seemed pickled. There was a very vinegary taste from the mushrooms that was off putting. The pasta was also very very al dente. Way too undercooked for us. Lastly this place can be a little pricey. Yes you're in the SF Bay Area and you're paying for convenience but to me pricey for what you get. Location and views are great and the staff is super friendly
