2nd Visit - Celebrating Mother's Day with Family The pigeons are the best I've had among Chinese restaurants. The soup is good and not oily at all. The geoduck is fresh and thickly sliced, and the lobster noodles are flavorful and perfectly cooked. The pea tips in broth are okay--slightly less tender and a bit salty. The restaurant is always very crowded, but overall, it's one of the better Chinese restaurants in terms of taste!

28 of us came for dim sum lunch. Reservations were made months ago. Parking is somewhat challenging during lunchtime. I did not request nor was aware they had a private room which we gave us. It was perfect and we couldn't be happier. The dim sum was excellent and very affordable. Kevin and Ivy took care of us and we were very pleased with the service. The stand out dim sums was anything shrimp. The shrimp were big in the ha gaw and in the noodles. The chicken feet were big, plump and juicy! The salted fish chicken fried rice and little bits of crispy eggs in it - it was very tasty. The brisket was plentiful with noodle rolls. Very tasty. Every table had leftovers To take home. I loved the pandan egg custard tart - it was tasty!

Won kok opened a sister branch at Millbrae (original store at monterey blvd in sf) and we went to have LNY dinner. It was a full house and we ordered quickly at 6pm. Roast squab was done perfectly - juicy and flavorful. The salty pork feet, popular dish at the original branch, wad flavorful and did not disappoint. We got crab over pea sprouts, salt & pepper geoduck, "lo hay" with geoduck, their house stir fry and frog leg. Total came out to be $400 for 7, so ~$60/person. Not bad. My sis said dim sum was also delicious there. Will return to give it a try!

I haven't tried this place for dinner yet, and I must say, I am disappointed. The portions are small, and I understand that restaurants are struggling, but this one takes the cake. I also get that you can eat in Millbrae, but I have more options with larger portions than this place. The pork was dry, the chicken dish had more bones than meat, the fish dish had more green onions than fish, and the lamb was hard to eat. Even the food took some time to arrive at the table, which added to my disappointment. The staff only seem attentive to repeat customers; they don't care about new ones. The ambiance is no different from the previous restaurant they just took over. Will I go back? Probably not, unless the service and portions improve.

Roasted squab. So juicy and crispy!

Loved the dim sum service here at Won Kok. The food came out fast and steaming hot. We had a lot of food but my highlights were the baked lava custard bun, rice noodle rolls with spareribs, and the shrimp and pea sprout dumplings. Everything was fresh and great quality. I usually don't order squab at dim sum but theirs was definitely one of the juiciest and tender with a crackly skin. A rare find. Definitely try that!

No wait shortly after opening on a Sunday. The dimsum came out nice and hot. Over all pretty good pricing and taste. I like the brown sugar honeycomb cake which was a bit diluted but still good. This location has changed ownership a couple of times.

Honestly, every dish we ordered was really good. It's busy on the weekends so you'll have to find street parking. We got regular dim sum dishes as well as other non-dim sum dishes like the cucumber salad, strings beans (10/10), fried rice, honey comb cake, jellyfish, meatballs, bean curd with shrimp paste and other dishes. My fav was the salted egg yolk bun!!

The formal name change finally came through for this offshoot of a popular neighborhood restaurant (my hood BTW) that replaces New Asian Pearl Restaurant. I wrote a review of my visit here under that restaurant title with mixed emotions. With visiting friends in town staying in Burlingame, I made an early Sunday night dinner reservation here for our party of 6. Being abnormally cold this year, it turned out our menu was perfect for the climate. Here's what we feasted on, family style: A. West Lake beef soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=jDrigonjWwcS0JsiKvDYOQ) - A standard Cantonese favorite, this was a warming start to our meal. Adding dashes of the provided white pepper, gave this a kick besides the warming temperature B. Steamed surf clams with garlic and vermicelli (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=WaQ-p2qDdyO96wnLLWW06A) - One of my favorites from their original location, I am taken aback with the presentation here. Each bowl represents one surf clam (two sides) which serves two; use the provided jalapeno/soy sauce mix to sprinkle over it or to dip the clam meat. The flavors were on point but I prefer this being served 'in shell'. C. Crispy roast pork (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=zszFALsKIQXT8u4ef-6bEw) - This is eye catching presentation wise and it was delicious taste wise too. I mainly dipped it in the provided hoisin sauce. D. Special soy sauce chicken, half chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=6xt2qmVaL2qdF8ekK88Zug) - A signature dish at their SF original location, this stays consistent here. The chef made this famous in that popular Kearny Street Chinatown eatery. E. Roast squab (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=69fbM6W76Zsx8MJfYn2NCA) - Also popularized from the Monterey flagship, this is a must for many familiar regulars. My only disappointment was a confusion on the amount order as we received double the amount that I requested in calling in our meal menu. F. Crispy glutinous rice chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=kxAPq-ll90K5RO44Q_6dEg) - My favorite of their numerous popular staples, this must be ordered at least a day in advance. Theirs is delicious due to the variety of ingredients used in the rice stuffing. G. Beef brisket in broth (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=h8IRYYD23aX_BAhj9IO6JA) - Heart and stomach warming main, the boneless meat pieces are tender and flavorful with a perfect pairing of daikon radish chunks. The broth can be a dish in itself. H. Smoked sea bass (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=hcDjBd26LEt9IAjm4Nxl8A) - Many liken this to the popular miso cod dish on Oahu as the meat melts in your mouth with a slight sweetness from being smoked. I. Poached choy sum in supreme broth (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=RWdT5cxP9Vu_V2AsJSwsyQ) - Another soup dominated dish, the mix of yau choy vegetables with the emoji mushrooms and goji berries make this a clean (not greasy) vegetable accompaniment. J. Green bean soup, dessert (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=eAziwI5yi6-RRmUh3lsuMg) - Homey and filled with soft green beans and lotus seed bits in a medium thick sweet soup. They presented this with a small plate of almond cookies, one per diner There were three or four tables occupied when were seated but the dining room filled up as we ate. Only two tables were not used when we left and a few smaller tables had been turned during our meal. Service was efficient and friendly as half of the staff previously manned their original spot. Plates were changed when filled with bones, teapots refilled, and empty plates removed when needed. It was nice to see several of the original staff from SF and the few unfamiliar staff were equally helpful and friendly. Definitely a good destination to take visiting friends staying near the airport.

Just found out today that Won Kok from San Francisco opened up a new store in the Peninsula (where you can actually park lol) I'm rating them a 5 star because both places have great food across their variety, but there's some caveats. The squab is one of their most popular dishes here like in SF, but its cooks differently. Crispier skin here and fast-BBQed according to the staff, unlike their SF location that slow-BBQs it. It's quite different and I prefer the SF style, even though this is still good. It's a larger location than SF, but just like many typical Chinese restaurants that seat big parties, it gets VERY loud in here. If that bothers you, I'd recommend against here. It might be because they just opened recently or that it's the holidays, but service was a bit slow - again, not something I'm foreign to at these type of restaurants, but something to be aware of. Otherwise I'd return for family meals, great food still!

Sweet & Sour Pork
Joey W.

Came here for dinner and the place was half full. The inside felt clean and the service was good. Roasted duck - the skin was super crispy and the duck was tender and well seasoned. Sweet and sour pork - I liked how it had a good amount of onions and bell peppers. The pork was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I would've preferred the batter to be a little less thick. Overall, it was a good balance of sweet and sour. Egg white & scallop fried rice - it was decent. It lacked some salt and also the charred flavor from the wok hei.

This restaurant has taken over the old Peninsula Pearl spot (this location seems to change ownership quite often). A friend told me the dim sum is better now under new management, so we decided to give it a try. We came for lunch and made a reservation since dim sum places can get pretty packed. The interior looks exactly the same as before -- no noticeable updates. We ordered a couple of dim sum platters, veggies, and porridge. Overall, the food was actually very good this time. Everything was tasty and well-prepared except for the pork knuckle, which was a bit tough. I couldn't help comparing it to a nearby restaurant that is famous for their fried pork knuckle. Prices are about the same as other dim sum spots around the city -- nothing surprising there. The only downside for me was the suggested minimum 18% gratuity added on top of total + tax. I know this has become common at many Bay Area restaurants, but it's still frustrating to see. Overall: better food than before, fair pricing, but not fancy of suggested minimum gratuity.

Get the pig Knuckles
drew w.

First off, make sure you order the pig knuckles. (I got it to go since I was in a hurry) It takes 40 mins to fry but so worth it. I normally go to the on in SF in Monterey blvd just to eat it. This is a new location that took over New Asian Pearl in Millbrae. We went for dim-sum around 11am and there was a bit of a wait. Once seated, food came hot and quick. Food was good quality and average priced. Definitely will be back for lunch or dinner to try other things

Came here for dim sum and also offered an entree, noodle dish and fried rice. It tasted great and they allowed reservations on a Saturday for a party of 6. Service was good and attentive. Tables are kind of close together, but glad it wasn't too packed. Parking can be kind of tough though. Would definitely come back again and also try their dinner menu.

Green beans next, also piping hot. They were sautéed with pork mince and who knows what sauce, but they were BY FAR the best green beans I've ever had. Couldn't get enough of them!! Beef chow fun was also amazing. The meat was so tender and flavorful, but we had gorged on shrimp and beans, so I didn't really want the chow fun anymore. It's a very large space. Tons of round tables all lined up with a huge tv screen at one end that was looping advertisements while we were there. Entering you pass by some fish tanks which could use a cleaning, but overall a bright and clean space.

They did add the 'New SF' prefix the name to distance themselves. Coming here on a Saturday after making dinner reservations on a late Saturday afternoon, I saw a number of familiar faces immediately. Half of their staff are from the Monterey Blvd. Won Kok Restaurant. This was my 1st time dining here in likely close to thirty years when it was another restaurant. Back to our meal, we were seated at the far end corner of the restaurant, prime location for spacing and restroom access. In crafting our menu, my friend chose several staple dishes from their original location; besides those, my friend was gifted a Bay-caught halibut so I asked the restaurant for suggestions in cooking it. The chef suggested cooking it two-ways. I knew the captain from his two previous restaurants (20+ years) and he guided us. Here's what we ate (family style): 1. Steamed surf clams with garlic and vermicelli noodles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=lPyTuWkX4RoUtP-3fZ2UiA) - These were served in two halves on each plate (four plates for eight shells) for our party of eight. Tasty, flavorful, and fresh as their flagship location in San Francisco. 2. Soy sauce supreme seasoned prawns, 2.5 lbs (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=wYtIFMiiYTuhOa_CmggLrQ) - I actually requested "West Lake" shrimp but was subbed out by this. This was good, just not what we wanted and expected and definitely pricier. 3. Salt and pepper halibut (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=9scLPxW30ktLJK72UIrSBw) - Half of our provided fish was cooked this style. It was done well as you'd expect from the most famous R&G chef to go through their kitchen. 4. Sauteed pea sprouts with garlic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=GDqjVZCqWnGvZ68sbHjqCw) - Pretty standard version and the pea sprouts were cleaned and trimmed well without any inedible or chewy pieces. 5. Pan fried pork spare ribs with soy sauce (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=x3xQew_Es07lW2dPJwB7BA) - This was the captain's recommendation and it was good but didn't stand out in any particular way. The ribs are cut into bite sized pieces and flash fried. 6. Simmered beef stew & turnip with pepper in broth (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=CAg60fXr0CfXtrcPVm2kEQ) - One of the signature dishes from the chef's days on Kearny Street that he continued at his Monterey Blvd. location. The portions are certainly enough for our large party as a family style dish. The broth is definitely the star and, for me, the radish (daikon). 7. Steamed halibut with black bean sauce (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=amzaLddp_H2vdSGzrKyYfQ) - The size of the fish made this tricky as, when the captain tried to remove the bones in serving, we learned that the fish was not fully cooked. He brought it back to the kitchen and they cooked this to a perfect cooking temperature. The flavors were nice and the black bean sauce didn't overpower the fish. 8. Golden fried rice with a touch of egg white (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=CZdyzi720mOckNXxHulS4g) - Another restaurant recommended dish, we were amazed at how tasty this was, given the simplicity of its description. Apologies for not having a full serving photo as the captain offered and agreed to him apportioning it in bowls for each diner. 9. Crispy skin roast chicken with garlic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=TspHX9eknS496I3zXwVwlQ) - This is their innovative twist on the Cantonese favorite jia zhi chicken with a strong garlic flavor. The carving of the decorative chicken head (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=DaywI5br-WQb9hh0a5sgng) was impressive. 10. Green bean tapioca soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=12ljEfFOj8tqwIaBXHvTVw) - Complimentary, a nice ending. 11. Red bean paste pastries (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=MwjmcyVoyHVXnmPRWYuM8w) - Complimentary and okay. The theme here, given the restaurant size, is for banquet style meals and prices reflect it. By the time we left, the dining room and the staff were swamped. Highly recommend making reservations especially weekends. More likely to dine at their flagship but will come for special occasions or with South Bay friends.

Anyways we got seated quickly, and I began with a nice cold beer and we started looking at the menu. We instantly had to get the baked pork chop w. Spaghetti as that was pretty much our childhood choice, going to HK style places. We grabbed some fried fish skin in salted egg yolk and fried chicken in salted egg yolk as we haven't had that before. Both were good. I definitely never had that chicken in salted egg yolk before but it seemed to work well. We got a half order of the Hainanese chicken, and that was delicious with the sauces provided. You can never go wrong with dim sum, so we got the sui mai, har gow, steamed pork ribs, and chicken feet. All were comparable to what you would get at a dim sum restaurant in the morning, but instead we had it at 8pm! Overall, the ambiance of the place is nice and quiet, with a few families eating out, and some college students enjoying a meal. The waiters would frequently stop by and refill our water cups whenever they were near empty, I probably would have got rice but my friends wanted spaghetti with the baked porkchop, overall a great place for a meal with dim sum too!

The food is consistently amazing. The green onion pancakes, salt and pepper tofu, and fried rice are absolutely delicious every single time. You can tell everything is made with care. On top of that, the entire staff is always so friendly and welcoming. They treat us like family, and that's why we keep coming back after all these years. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and even better service!

Surprised on the number of 1 star reviews but after reading it was all service driven as the food…read moredefinitely deserves more than 1 star. Black Pepper beef Ribs- delish! tender pieces with grilled bell peppers and red onion made this dish pair really well with rice. Fried rice with Scallop & egg white- a little light on the seasoning but still a decent fired rice dish which with the beef ribs dish was a match made in heaven. Seafood clay pot- more tofu than seafood but still a tasty and well seasoned clay pot. Also ordered a couple of dim sum plates (Shrimp dumpling & beef Balls). Both were on par with other dim sum locales so nothing negative about their flavors. Overall service was fine; given it was the lunch hour but all the food came out relatively quickly and would definitely have a return visit.

The dim sum here was excellent and reminded me of home. Not only did everything taste good but it was served piping hot and came out quickly. The breakdown of our dishes is below: Walnut Shrimp - Hot and plump shrimp that has a bounce in your mouth covered with tangy mayo. We enjoyed the light fry. Dried Scallop Egg White Fried Rice - Fragrant but oily and plenty of flavor. BBQ Pork & Egg Cheong Fun - Soft sheets of rice noodle roll with a generous amount of ingredients. Hargow - Very good with big shrimp and a sesame oil flavor. Shumai - Soft thin skin withmore seafood than pork taste. Chiu Chow dumpling & Beancurd roll were ok but had fresh ingredients. Chicken Feet - I liked the overall flavor but it didn't seep all the way in. Parking is challenging but the taste is well worth a visit!

I was looking for an Asian restaurant for a light early dinner on Saturday, and found Yuanbao…read moreJiaozi. My fellow Yelpers didn't disappoint. This place met everything I was looking for: plenty of parking (inside Burlingame Plaza), near SFO, efficient service, and high ratings. When my daughter and I arrived a little before 5:30pm, they were already pretty full. By the time we left, a little after 6pm, there're people waiting at the door. We got seated right away. Service was minimal. We helped ourselves to the pitcher of water on the table. After looking at the menu on the table, we placed our order by scanning a QR code. Since we're not too hungry. We ordered one appetizer and one noodle dish to share. The special mix salad came pretty quickly. We ordered "less spicy", and it had the perfect amount of heat. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the dish had a bit of everything we wanted to try. I liked the tofu skin the best, and my daughter loved the crunchy cucumber. It would be even better if they included lotus roots as well. It took a little while for the house special beef noodle soup (less spicy) to arrive, but it was totally worth the wait. It came piping hot. The broth was very flavorful, with the right amount of red pepper. It wasn't oily at all. The beef was super tender. I loved the texture of the noodles, and the beef to noodle ratio was not bad. A really solid dish. Would love to come back again to try their other dishes, especially their xiao long bao.
