Fantastic service, great quality yum cha, and only a 10 minute wait on a Sunday. My husband and I visited to try out some of our favorite dim sum items, and Pearl didn't disappoint. Don't expect 100% cleanliness or the traditional carts, but you do get piping hot dishes and welcoming service. Watching the planes land at SFO added to the experience.

This fish looks like it was in a car accident. How does this get served at the banquet table for a party of 10?

Lovely view overlooking water and SFO. Canto food here there's nothing special. Flavors did not pop. Some dishes at our banquet table were only semi-clean but at least the bus boy switched it out upon request.

Kind of disappointed of the food quality that it dropped since my last visit. Came with a group of friends on a Sunday lunch. We decided to come here because we had good experiences previously, but this time was a super disappointed experience for all of us. First of all, food quality. The colored shrimp dumplings were ugly and not appealing at all. Used way too much artificial coloring. See the photo for more details and it was $10, and not tasty. Not worth the price. We also ordered another veggie dumplings and the wrap (outside part) was super bland and mushy. Very disappointed. The cilantro rice roll was lack of flavor, too thick and bland. We wanted to order roasted pigeon and we were told that they were sold out due to the bbq department was already closed, and it was at 12 pm on a Sunday. That's totally fine if they were sold out. But when we asked the waiter about it, his attitude was just being rude and didn't seem care, or gave us a feeling of "this is none of his business". I used to like this place for its service and food. But not anymore... will not come back again and will no longer recommend to my friends.

Good food, great view, decent service. Came for lunch, table of 6. Massive portions, fancy presentation and pretty good taste. Didn't bring some of the items we marked but maybe bc we already had so much food. Slightly on the higher end and automatic gratuity included. Ample parking lot but fills up quick so come early. First time here but pretty good and would definitely come back!

One of the go-to dim sum spots in the Bay Area with classic Cantonese dishes and great for family meals! Food was plated beautifully and was hot and fresh. My favorite was the oysters - tender flesh, not fishy at all, paired well with the sauce and green onions. I also really liked the dumplings covered with pumpkin puree sauce as it was such a unique combination of sweetness and savory that wasn't too overpowering on either flavor. My family and I went on a Monday afternoon and got seated fairly quickly. They are very efficient with seating. You get a number and must respond when called, otherwise your spot will be given to others. Food came out fast and servers move quickly. The location is also amazing, with stunning coastal views. You can really see airplanes flying in and out of SFO right from the oceanside location. Overall, would definitely come again!

We came with a family of twelve with advanced reservations, with an automatic surcharge for a large party. The dishes were all tasty and we had a good time eating the great dishes, and catching up on family news. The dishes came out fairly quickly via the forget wait staff, they filled out teapot whenever it became empty, and the dishes were all pretty delicious. These are the following dishes that we ordered and all enjoyed: 1) Sautéed beef tenderloin 2) While steamed chicken matsutake 3) Braised bamboo fungus and dried scallops with sugar peas 4) Braised tofu puffs and fish belly in black pepper sauce 5) Salted seasonal greens 6) Sweet and sour chicken with pineapple 7) Beef short ribs in sizzling plate 8) Fish Maw and chicken house soup 9) Sea urchin and dried scallop wild grain fried rice 10). The restaurant ran out of our last order, so we didn't get to try it out: Stuffed eggplant iron flat pan fried in Teriyaki Sauce I read dime other reviews, it's hard for restaurants to stock up on ingredients when they don't know what will be ordered. Over ordering fresh food can break a restaurant's bottom line. I tend to agree with the cook staff that running out of ingredients is better than over buying and not getting enough orders. Since the restaurant is a very large square footage, it probably costs a lot in rent, plus you have to pay the premium for the chefs to keep them on board. I'm from Los Angeles, and restaurants go in and out of business in the 626 area all of the time, so I know how hard it must be to keep up the quality and quantity of food balanced with the total cost of running the restaurant. You need to keep an open perspective on these things. The food quality of our dishes was excellent, we enjoyed the meal thoroughly and didn't have much leftovers to take home. I recommend you do try out this restaurant menu for a nice dining experience with your family, I doubt that you will be disappointed. We went home with happy tummies.

Came for DIMSUM and it wowed me. The delicious flavors and the view is great! The parking is hard but you can drive around and find one. Service is fast and they have a giant menu.

The restaurant has a huge space and it is a banquet as well. We went on a busy Saturday lunch hour that's only until 2:30 pm. Service was rushed and most the servers looked stressed. I believe there was a wedding that Saturday evening so I see why they were rushing us to pay and eat. Food is delicious and came out so fast. Some of the servers looked mad at us when we just asked for water and forks? They only gave us Jasmine tea but it took awhile for them to get our table water. I would not recommend coming on a Saturday lunch hour. Maybe we'll come back on a weekday.

For the ambiance, views, and quality of food, I feel like the value here is top notch. It was a lot of fun to see the planes taking off and landing from SFO right as we enjoyed our meal. Would recommend going on the early side-arrived around 10am on a weekend and we got lucky and got the last table by the windows. Some of the dishes felt a bit small, like the roast pork, but the plating was very well done. I really enjoyed the siu mai here, and also tried the bean curd rolls, green onion pancakes, soy sauce noodles, salt and pepper tofu, shrimp dumplings, sticky rice, and sesame balls. Our server was really helpful and helped us avoid ordering too much food since we didn't realize the sesame balls here were so massive.

Shrimp chive pan fried ... pretty standard. Red cabbage is a nice touch to help with fiber.

My favorite dim sum place in north Bay Area. Yeah it's $1-2 more for each dim sum but portion are large, quality ingredients. And your paying for views

This is my 2nd time I dined at the Pearl restaurant today. I recommended to my former colleagues and also retired now to eat at this restaurant as we want to meet halfway. We live at different places in SF and Peninsula. They have ample parking. We did not have any reservation as we are just a party of 4. We got the table. No tables by the window as it was full already. The dining room was huge with very nice chandeliers. We can see the planes landing & taking off. We did not order any tea to drink just cold water and hot water with sliced of lemon. We ordered Siu Mai, Steamed Dried Scallop & Shrimp W/ Vegetable Dumplings, Sautee Chinese Broccoli In Ginger Sauce, Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls, Chow Fun Noodles & Spring Rolls with vegetables. We asked the server about tofu how it was cooked if fried or steamed. He cannot described it and finally said it was fresh with soy sauce. The dishes arrived one at a time and hot. The food was delicious. I can see myself coming back with another group of friends.

Came here for weekday dinner and enjoyed the good food and good views, but I did find the dish selection limited compared to other Cantonese restaurants. I came here for Tuesday dinner around 6 pm and was able to get seated promptly for my party of 3. I wanted a table by the window, but they were all reserved for large 10 person parties. The standard menu is two pages, and there's also an additional printed menu + receipt with what I assume are the seasonal/daily dishes. It took us forever to decide what to order as some of the dishes we typically order aren't on the menu here. We ordered 4 dishes for the 3 of us as I wanted to try more dishes and have plenty of leftovers for the rest of the week. We tried (* marks my favorites): Dried oyster, roast pork, and seafood clay pot ($28) * House famous abalone, fresh crab meat, and silky tofu ($46) * Sauteed dice beef tenderloin ($24) Custom chicken noodle dish ($24) The abalone and crab meat clay pot felt very luxurious with fish maw, giant scallops, and abalone. I really liked the sauce as well for this clay pot. The other clay pot we ordered with oyster and roast pork felt a bit repetitive with the abalone clay pot as the both flavors were on the lighter side and both seafood based, but it was good. The beef was very flavorful. The leftovers tasted amazing over rice. I only ate a couple bites of the chicken noodle dish, but I thought it was solid as well. We ended dinner with complimentary black sesame paste, which was SO good. I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant served this instead of the standard sweet red bean soup. Portions are pretty big here. I took all the leftovers home and had enough food for 3 meals afterwards. Definitely not complaining though!

Surf Clam: big portion for about $20 per clam, soy sauce based but oily. A4 Wagyu Beef Teriyaki Sauce: this is a must have and the favorite dish of the night. the beef was tender, mushrooms with the sauce was a balance of savory and sweet. Sea cucumber stir fried veggies: lots of veggies on this place and you don't have to order an extra vegetable plate. will order this again next time. Braised Abalone and pork belly: the perfect meat to fat ratio, there were two layers of the pork belly which was more than enough. wasn't a fan of the sour sauce though Sweet and sour spareribs: classic dish with the tangy flavors, some had the perfect crunch Pea sprouts: garlic flavor and it can be skipped for next time Double egg fried rice: peppery flavor with small shrimps, and cod roll. One of my personal favorites Squab: succulent meat with a crispy skin on, sprinkle in a bit of lemon and pepper Dessert: red bean with peanuts, the peanuts provided a crunch to the red beans. usually not a fan of red beans dessert. We had a corner table where we could watch the planes from SFO depart/take off. Staff provided daily specials along with recommendations for other dishes. This place is a bit older but they do have a bright dining area with the projection screen. They do charge an 18% service fee for dinner and 15% service fee for lunch.

Do they serve Dim Sum for dinner as well?

Unfortunately, HL Peninsula Pearl is not yet offering dim sum for dinner. You can come to our other location HL Peninsula of South San Francisco, dim sum is available for both lunch and dinner hour.

Is it good? Is it the same as the one HL in South San Francisco?

I would say the one HL in Burlingame has better food and service, mainly because it is smaller and doesn't feel like a giant warehouse converted into a restaurant. Generally, the food comes out consistently promptly and at a warmer temperature,… Read more

Their customer service is lacking and if they were honest in the beginning when we first called to make reservations they should have told us first come first serve to allow us to plan accordingly by arriving earlier or making plans with a venue that honored reservations. Food: BBQ buns and fried rice are good. Parking: it's the worst and really tight spaces. Cars were bumper to bumper. We were a party of three, with a reservation for 12 noon. It was my first time here, but my niece had been to Palette several times. So she knew the best tables and how to order. We were seated in a booth towards the back near the kitchen. There was a steady flow of staff walking by. Anytime you needed something, you just ask someone. We decided to order a variety of dim sum, the Signature Peking Duck (half), and the Pan Seared Seafood Noodles. Everything was delicious. The presentation of the Peking Duck was beautiful. They used momo pancakes instead of steamed bao. It's not a duck chopped in half. It's an offering of crispy thin duck skin, with chunks of boneless duck meat underneath. Served with cucumber, radlish, scallions and hoisin sauce. I think my favorite dim sum was the Yuzu Walnut Prawn Puff. Crunchy fried prawns w/ yuzu sauce, and candied walnuts. It's considered an elevated modern dish. Don't forget to check out the koi pond with live fish on the community table top. Free parking in mall lot. I parked on the roof and took the escalator directly down to the restaurant.
