I got a seat at the bar and ordered the Sichuan dumplings and the Dan Dan. I loved hot hot and flavorful the Dan Dan was - the pork was cooked perfectly and the noodles so soft. The dumplings however, they were flavorful but I felt they were very fatty compared to the ones I've had many times elsewhere. Flavorful nevertheless. I appreciate how accommodative they were. High ceilings and a beautiful bar area make this place stand out right away, it looks great both inside and out, definitely not your typical dumpling spot. At first, I thought it leaned more toward a fusion American style, but after trying a few dishes, I'd say it's not 100% authentic, yet still pretty close. The pork soup XLB was really tasty, you can tell the meat is high quality with no "porky" taste, and the broth is light with a subtle sweetness. The popcorn chicken was a bit bland, but very meaty with a thin, crispy coating, which I liked. The pan-fried buns were juicy, with a nicely cooked, crispy bottom. The braised beef was a bit too soft for my liking and lacked texture. The braised beef noodle soup was decent, the beef pieces were a good size but slightly dry, while the noodles were chewy and well-cooked, though they felt more like spaghetti than traditional noodles. Came by after a nearby appointment. The beef noodle soup had a solid, flavorful soup and pretty al dente noodles. Wish the beef came with tendons as well. Add in suan cai and I think it would have been a really strong niu rou mian choice. Still good though and would eat this again. The chongqing noodles packed a little too much heat with my health issues lately, but I thought the it was pretty good from what I could taste. The xiao long bao was surprisingly good. Skin wasn't too soggy, good amount of soup, meat wasn't too fatty. I think they're missing ginger with their vinegar, though. Wagyu dumplings were okay. I'll have to try pork, shrimp and chives next time. All in all, nice to have one Asian option in the sea of Italian here. My boss was in town for meetings and suggested we try the dumpling place down the street from Limon. Ok cool. Wow! Was so good. I try to stay mostly veg so I was thrilled at their extraordinary selection of meatless dumplings and noodle dishes - the Mapo Tofu Dumplings in particular were stellar, and I liked the Scallion Oil Noodles too. I also did try some non-veg fare which was also great. The beautiful red, white and blue XLB combination and especially the Sichuan Spicy Wontons were fantastic. My boss also liked his wonton soup but I skipped that one. I was also struck by the attractive signage and branding which is probably what lured us in. I'll admit I was confused by the name - I hear D&B and think Dun & Bradstreet but maybe that'll help me remember this restaurant. There's so much more on the menu I want to try - there's old favorites like Scallion Pancake and Hot & Sour Soup, Sichuan Dandan Noodle, Sui Mai, and the Zephyr Miso Soup sounds good to me - really, everything does. Just average for the 2 dishes I tried. Beef noodle soup - noodle chewiness was pretty good but cannot withstand prolonged time in the soup if you have leftovers. Soup needed more depth of flavor and a hint more salt. I'm not a fan of broccoli or undercooked carrots in the soup. Pork pan fried buns - comes out piping hot and with lots of soup inside (yay!) so be careful not to burn yourself. Outside bun a little too thick. A friend and I decided to try Dumpling Kitchen and Bar since it's a fairly new restaurant in Burlingame. The location is right on corner of busy Burlingame Ave. I think there used to be a Japanese restaurant here before DK&B. On a weeknight around dinner time, the place was about 3/4 full. Immediately upon walking in, I realized this is like no other dumpling place I've been to before. First off, there is a full bar. The lighting fixtures and interior are really trendy and modern. We ordered the steamed soup XLB (8/10), shrimp toast (7/10), pork pan fried buns (9/10) - thanks to the two people next to us who burned their tongues and squirted soup broth on their shirts, we got advanced warning this was going to be a messy and juicy dish!, and Dandan noodles (6/10). Everything was really yummy. Service was wonderful. Our server was really helpful in helping us decide what to order. They also didn't rush us to leave even though we were done with our meal and was just sitting around catching up. For drinks, I stuck with water but tried a sip of my friend's Lime Passion Fruit beverage, which was delicious! For food, I was a bit limited as a non-pork eater. I ended up getting the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings and Secret Chicken Wings. The Crystal Shrimp Dumplings were very tasty, and came as an order of 3 pieces. I liked the sauce and spice level of the Secret Chicken Wings - definitely a more filling item. I think they could've been a bit saucier though, or maybe come with a dipping sauce on the side. We popped in on a Tuesday evening at about 8pm and it was pretty full. The space is bright with indoor and outdoor seating and a long dumpling bar. Listen up, before this spot, I could say I've never met a dumpling I didn't like. Sadly, after dining here, I now can say I actually met a few dumplings I didn't like. While the dumplings were filled and meaty, the flavor profile of all four sets were off. The spicy shumai were intensely flavored: the pork tasted sour with this spiced heat. One dumpling had a very strong cumin flavor (maybe cumin or some other spice I can't put my finger on) and lastly, the xlb were flavorless. Overall, not my favorite. The food is not bad for the most part, the service was very friendly and attentive, and the little patio with outdoor seating is great on a nice day. The food is generally pretty tasty and I liked that nothing felt too heavy nor greasy. Since we were there for a light lunch, we got the lotus root mix, hot and sour soup, hot and spicy dumplings, and the pork pan fried buns. The only item that was a little bit of a let down was the pan fried buns because the top part was still a bit dough-y like they hadn't been cooked enough. Popcorn chicken: a tad salty, the breading and meat quality wasn't anything to write home about. There's a bar, outdoor and indoor seatings and when we went we were able to choose where we wanted to sit since there wasn't much people. A bit on the smaller side, looked almost bite sized. They also came with molten lava heat on the inside. For example, the fried mantou I'd expect at least 4 but it came with 3. Popcorn chicken was well seasoned with a bit of a kick. They tasted fine but had I not ordered them, I wouldn't have known they were tom yum flavored at all. -Pork potstickers: Pretty average, run of the mill potstickers. -Sichuan spicy dumplings: Again, very very mild on the Sichuan spice. -Pan fried pork dumplings: The highlight of the meal. Crispy in the bottom, pillowy at the top, and full of juices inside. Would definitely recommend this dish. PS--Something I never would've noticed before having kids, but there is no baby changing station in the bathroom (at least the women's). I had to lay my baby across a bar stool pushed against a metal locker cabinet in the bathroom (this was the worker's makeshift solution, not mine) which made for a very small surface. If you're new to eating dumplings, then you may be impressed with Dumpling Kitchen. Our waitress was quite surprised that we ordered so much food but honestly, it wasn't that much, though the total bill was $142.58 Checkout my pics for all 10 items. The spicy dishes were definitely good: I've never had spicy siu mai $11 and I'm thinking traditional dim sum restaurants need to add this version to their menu! Spicy XLBs $12 were perfectly flavored with a juicy filling but you must eat them hot otherwise they won't tasty good -- once the wrapper gets cold, the juice leaks out of them. I wasn't impressed with the popular and more expensive Union XLBs $15. Another good one was the pan fried pork buns $12 -- those come out steaming hot so do be careful when biting into them. Sichuan hot & spicy dumplings $11 had that notable numbing tingling flavor that needs to be drenched in everything in my opinion. Lastly the Dan Dan noodles $16 also had a similar vibe with really good fresh chewy noodles -- perfect leftover to take home for breakfast tomorrow! Be sure to end your meal with the salty egg lava bun $10. These have a gooey filling that's absolutely addicting. Overall this was a good meal. I think the price point is really high for the amount of items and maybe this is considering it's the only dumpling place in Burlingame and XLBs are trending hard right now The nonspicy dumplings $12 were pretty basic and bland so I had to add a lot of chili oil to flavor them. We've been eyeing the spot for a while, but only recently decided to dine in after working out nearby. We ordered the lotus root mix ($8) to start. It came with thinly sliced pieces of lotus roots, as well as some wood ear mushrooms and peanuts sprinkled on top. The sauce was vinegar-based and the dish was light and healthy, not nothing astounding. I also got the stir-fried green beans ($15) which were pretty good, but quite pricey for a small portion. For dumplings, I wanted to try the tomato cheese and mapo tofu (both $12). Each portion was 8 pieces and came boiled. You can opt to have them pan-fried as well. We ordered the hot and sour soup (this wasn't bad and probably my favorite dish of the evening), the popcorn chicken (salty AF, i would recommend passing on this), the spicy XLB soup dumplings (not much flavor and really bland), and the beef noodle soup (ok, but nothing to rave about). Prices were really expensive too, but I know that area of Burlingame is on the pricier side in general. This place is a gem of a dumpling house! We had two orders of the chicken wings, my friend got the wagyu beef dumplings, and I had the seafood dumplings and a miso soup. The service was very quick and the waiters and waitresses were super duper friendly throughout the experience. The dough was the perfect thickness and man was the soup inside with the meat an absolute treat - my girlfriend needs to come next time as she would absolutely love this place! The ambiance was nice with sports playing in the background and you could have a conversation during your mean without the noise from others or the tv drowning the conversation out. The decor was nice and the bar setup is absolutely perfect for seating and enjoying a meal (they have tables as well!). Another dumpling place in the peninsula? Count me in! Came to check out dumpling kitchen and bar and upon entering, large screens showing my beloved dubs playing? Nice. With the potential of delicious dumplings too? Heaven. Unfortunately, in comparison to many other dumpling places in the bay, I have to say that Dumpling Kitchen & Bar was just not quite up to snuff. There was just this interesting mix in dishes where part of it was done really well while another part was just underwhelming. For example, XLB were super plump and full of juice but the meat inside was completely under seasoned. Another example was the Chongqing noodles which were severely over spiced with peppercorns but the vegetables on top? Thawed from frozen and unseasoned. Price was also higher than most places. 8 boiled dumplings for $12? Pop over to Millbrae and you'll find 14 for the same price that are also assuredly juicy and more plump. But it wasn't all bad, I actually really enjoyed the lotus root salad with the woodear mushrooms. It was fresh, crunchy, and refreshing. The pan fried buns were also done nicely. It was full of juice, well seasoned, and still had a bit of fluffiness to it. You had me at dumpling but kept me at Lychee Martini. I found this place close to the hotel I was staying at. Recommend restaurant....not so much the hotel. The music was nice and welcoming. I ordered the Thai Tom Yum XLB and the Union XLB. Both were flavorful and filling. I wanted to try alllll the Xiao Long Bai but only had room for two orders (in my belly not on the table) The lychee Martini was sweet and strong in a perfectly balanced drink. Perfect way to end my day. The sauces were in the lovely tea set they set on my table. Although I probably made a mockery of myself spilling sauce on me and slurping my dumplings I felt welcomed by the staff and was a little sad it was my last night in Burlingame. I came by for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. I had the beef noodle soup, and it was excellent--the broth was flavorful, and the braised beef was incredibly tender and well seasoned. I also ordered the popcorn chicken, which was super tasty. It had a great crispy texture and really nice seasoning. read more

We finished our meal before half time but they told us to stay until the end of the game. SOOO KIND. Crab Ragoons: 5/5 SOOOOO GUDDDD, RICH AND CREAMYYYY! Hot Chili Wontons: 5/5 the wonton skin was a little thinker to my liking but that SAUUUCE DOEEE. We had to save the sauce. Use it to dip all our remaining dumplings that we ordered. Thai XLB: 5/5 Hits the spot every time. I love it. Smashed Cucumbers: 4/5 refreshing and light! when you dip it with the hot chili wonton sauce its a 5/5. Pop Corn Chicken: 4/5 Yummy! Came here with my husband on a Friday night around 6PM and was seated pretty quickly. It was pretty busy as the only seating available was at the bar, but we didn't mind! Interior was clean and really liked the vibe. We accidentally ordered a bit too much, but we finished everything! Pan Fried Green Beans: Extra garlic-y, and SO good. If you're craving DTF garlic green beans but don't want to drive down to Valley Fair, this is a great alternative Steamed Soup + Thai Tom Yum XLB: Dumplings were juicy, and flavor was definitely there BUT the skin/dough was so thin that we ended up breaking a lot of them :( Sort of frustrating! Pork Pan Fried Buns: One of my favorite dishes of the night! Be sure to eat them like a XLB since they're so juicy and the inside can be hot. Definitely try it with some of the vinegar and chili oil. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Ordered this on a whim and surprisingly really enjoyed this dish! We typically don't order soups when we primarily go for dumplings, but this hit the spot especially on a chili night. BBQ Pork Bun: A staple! Love the bun itself but felt like there could have been more filling / bigger pieces of protein in the filling. Sichuan Hot and Spicy Dumplings: I'm personally not the biggest fan of Sichuan, but my husband really enjoyed this one. Servers were really nice and came by a few times to clear dishes / check how we liked our food but would've appreciated having our water filled a few more times (also my bad for not asking). Rating it a 4 because I think it's a little pricey for what it is, but those are Burlingame prices for you! Also rating it a 4 especially since I think the XLB dough texture could be improved :( Maybe we came on a bad night? Worth a try if you're in the area! read more

I really wanted to love this place. It has a relaxed, casual vibe, and the service was genuinely excellent. But unfortunately, the food just didn't quite meet expectations. I'm giving three stars mostly for the wonderful service. I ordered takeout and the staff were super friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. But the dim sum just didn't hit the mark for me, it doesn't taste like authentic Chinese dim sum. I went with what I thought were safe picks: the pan-fried buns and popcorn chicken. Sadly, the buns were thick and doughy, not much flavor, and not crispy at all. The popcorn chicken had decent seasoning, but it was soft and kind of soggy, which was a letdown. Super tasty and fun dumpling treat. Grabbed delivery from here during a work trip for something flavorful but not too heavy. The quality was great. The pork xlb and spicy wontons were great and exactly what I would expect. The Thom yum soup dumplings were really unique and flavorful with a fun color. The egg custard buns were soft and tasty as well, would happily eat here again! read more
