Green onion pork chop egg over rice
    May L.

I was in the area and craving a good cup of hot Hong Kong milk tea, so my friend and I decided to come here. We arrived at noon and didn't have to wait for a table. I ordered from their lunch special menu, which includes an entrée and a drink. I got the green onion pork chop over rice with a fried egg, and of course, a hot Hong Kong milk tea to go with my meal. My meal came with two pieces of pork chop and a fried egg. The pork chop was a bit dry, if it comes with a sauce that would be good. The milk tea was good and really hit the spot. Would I order this again? Maybe not--but I would come back to try other dishes because their Hong Kong milk tea is solid, and it's a great place to chat and catch up. The space is clean and spacious. There's a parking lot in the back, and street parking is also available, so parking isn't an issue.

The Ovaltine French toast caught my attention so I made a stop for lunch with my son. After cutting through the French toast, I was instantly intrigued! It was super "jiggly" when it came out, and I definitely was not expecting sweet milk to be flowing out of it. It was delicious and not overly sweet. I also ordered a iced red bean milk, which was delicious! The baked pork chop spaghetti was super saucy which I liked, but the flavor was a bit bland. Over all, I had a positive experience as the restaurant was spacious, clean and the staff were super friendly. I could tell there was a lot of loyal customers.

Was craving Hong Kong style Cafe food and walked into New Broadway Bistro. All the workers were so welcoming! We tried a few different things and none of the dishes disappointed! Yum yum!

New Broadway Bistro is very nice and clean inside with a good variety of different things to eat. There are many American and Asian dishes and desserts. Food came very fast, in around 10-15 minutes.

Food was delicious HK STYLE Cafe food. I liked the lunch items, weekday, the lunch menu includes a hot drink. Cold drink is extra cost. Service was fast and attentive. Ambiance was nice, comfortable to sit at, not loud, and clean. I liked the black peppered pork chop spaghetti a lot.

My wife and I stopped by New Broadway Bistro at 6:00 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon. If you're unfamiliar with the area, parking here is very difficult. Since we came at prime dinner hour, we needed to circle around the block for about 15 minutes before we found a parking spot. New Broadway Bistro was suspiciously empty when we arrived, with only three other seated parties. Between the two of us, we shared two entrees: the baked pork chop over fried rice, and the beef stew over crispy noodles. The beef dish was pretty light on how many pieces of beef were included, but the dish itself was curry heavy, very saucy and quite enjoyable over the extra large serving of crispy noodles. I only was able to eat half of the dish and had to pack the rest to go. The beef pieces had just the right amount of chewiness to them and a good balance of tendon to lean meat. The baked pork chop dish that I tried here was definitely not the best that I've had in the Bay. I've had better fried rice bases elsewhere and generally prefer for there to be more mozzarella cheese melted on top. The pork chop was fine, but nothing amazing -- a tad dry if anything. Our meal with the two entrees and a lemon tea ended up being around $51 after tax and a 18% tip. New Broadway Bistro satisfied my craving for Hong Kong diner food, but there are better spots elsewhere. Rounding my 3.5 rating up to a 4.

We came in for lunch today and noticed it was quite busy. We ordered the pork chop over rice, pork chop noodle and string beans with pork. The food was okay.

Late lunch, got a seat in 5 min. Servers were all very nice. Fast service. Got Hong Kong milk tea, generous mug. Eating mate got coffee, 1 free refill, 2nd refill $2 extra. Won ton with noodles. Since we didn't eat it right away, it got cold. This restaurant is kind of cold temperature wise. Juicy tender Short rib rice plate. As usual no pictures due to hunger. Parked two blocks away. So many eateries. Got to come back to try the pan fried noodles.

Ever since the Broadway Bistro changed ownership, I hadn't had a chance to try it. After seeing a YouTuber recommend it, I decided to give it a shot. We ordered the beef chow fun, deep-fried chicken thigh with egg over rice, salt & pepper fish, lemon tea, and Ovaltine French toast. The beef chow fun was very flavorful, with plenty of tender beef. I especially liked the noodles--they had great wok hei. I was also happy to see deep-fried chicken thigh over rice on the menu, since I usually have to go all the way to Sunset (Tak Kee) to satisfy that craving. The chicken thigh was crispy on the outside and juicy inside--really satisfying. The salt & pepper fish had a nice crispy texture, but it was lacking that signature salt and pepper flavor. The lemon tea was legit and refreshing. I would skip the Ovaltine French toast. The deep-fried toast flavor overpowered the Ovaltine, even though it was sprinkled on top. I'd recommend going with the peanut butter French toast instead. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

Was craving some dishes I am used to eating growing up so decided to try New Broadway Bistro! Plenty of parking outside and interior of restaurant looks very new and clean :) Service was alright - not super attentive despite not being busy As for the food: 1. Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings - Absolutely delicious! Perfectly seasoned and extremely crispy. The breading is very light and the meat inside was hot and juicy! 2. Seafood Pan Fried Noodles - Definitely hit the spot! It brought a lot of nostalgia for me personally. Was well seasoned and exactly what it should taste like. Plenty of seafood comes with the dish. My only note would be that because it comes with the noodles with the gravy already on top, the noodles do get quite soggy and break apart. Definitely still very delicious and didn't feel super heavy! Not sure if it's the Bay Area pricing, but would not rate this a $ restaurant. Would definitely come back though!

Forgot the exact name, beef spaghetti(?), fish fillet with spicy salt, lemon ice tea.

Food was delicious and the lemon ice tea is refreshing. Also ordered the spicy salt fish fillet for appetizer and that was very flavorful. Interior is open and lively. Wall feature included nice living moss art which I haven't seen since my trip to Sweden. Staff are very friendly and helpful. 4 stars instead of 5 because sauces such as soy sauce and chili aren't already at the table and has to be asked for. Though I can also appreciate it not already being at table as well, keeps it cleaner.

Came here after a hike for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Everything was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. The beef was incredibly tender and flavorful. The pork chop was good too ; though it could be a bit more tender. The fried tofu was excellent: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, though I personally prefer a soy-garlic dipping sauce. The staff were super friendly and greeted us with big smiles. Overall, a great spot. I'll definitely be back!

5 stars - Genuine Northern Chinese Gem in Milbrae…read more I've been searching for years for a spot that does real Northern Chinese food without watering it down for the American palate, and New China absolutely delivers. The owners clearly know their stuff--Shandong style cooking shines through. We started with the pan-fried pork & chive dumplings (煎饺) -- thick, chewy wrappers with perfectly seasoned filling and that ideal crispy bottom. Not the thin-skinned Cantonese style; these are hearty and satisfying, just like what you'd get in the north. Their zha jiang mian (炸酱面) is outstanding--the fermented soybean sauce is rich and deeply flavored, loaded with ground pork, cucumber matchsticks, and bean sprouts. The noodles have that perfect al dente bite. It's the real deal, not the sweet Americanized version. We also got the cumin lamb skewers (孜然羊肉串) -- tender, intensely spiced with cumin, chili flakes, and sesame, grilled over real flame so they have that smoky char. And the sour cabbage stir-fried with glass noodles (酸菜粉丝) was spot-on: tangy, comforting, and full of that signature Northern balance of sour and savory. Excellent appetizers Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the place has that no-frills, family-run feel that makes you feel like you're eating at someone's home kitchen. Service was friendly and quick, even when busy. If you're tired of the same old General Tso's and orange chicken everywhere, do yourself a favor and come here for authentic Northern Chinese flavors. This is now our go-to spot in Milbrae Highly recommend--will be back often!

Unlike your typical Chinese Restaurant, this place specializes in Northern China style cuisine, so some of the dining experience may feel reversed. For example, they have a mince noodle that is served cold, but a Tofu Skin that is served hot. The English description are a bit off and they have a variety of frozen buns and other food you can buy to-go (they don't serve the buns at the restaurant). For the less adventurous, their spicy tofu, Crispy Sweet and Sour Chicken (breaded and fried crispy) and a dry noodle are good starting point, and for vegetables, their stir fry green beans is good (but best served with some rice). Overall, this place is not bad, but wish their menu was more accurate in the description/content to meet customer's expectations.

Black Pepper beef Ribs- delish! tender pieces with grilled bell peppers and red onion made this dish pair really well with rice. Fried rice with Scallop & egg white- a little light on the seasoning but still a decent fired rice dish which with the beef ribs dish was a match made in heaven. Seafood clay pot- more tofu than seafood but still a tasty and well seasoned clay pot. Also ordered a couple of dim sum plates (Shrimp dumpling & beef Balls). Both were on par with other dim sum locales so nothing negative about their flavors. The dim sum here was excellent and reminded me of home. Not only did everything taste good but it was served piping hot and came out quickly. The breakdown of our dishes is below: Walnut Shrimp - Hot and plump shrimp that has a bounce in your mouth covered with tangy mayo. We enjoyed the light fry. Dried Scallop Egg White Fried Rice - Fragrant but oily and plenty of flavor. BBQ Pork & Egg Cheong Fun - Soft sheets of rice noodle roll with a generous amount of ingredients. Hargow - Very good with big shrimp and a sesame oil flavor. Shumai - Soft thin skin withmore seafood than pork taste. Chiu Chow dumpling & Beancurd roll were ok but had fresh ingredients. Chicken Feet - I liked the overall flavor but it didn't seep all the way in. Parking is challenging but the taste is well worth a visit!

The dishes were spicy but not so much so that you couldn't enjoy the actual flavors of the dish. For those that like the Szechuan tingling feeling, the chicken in explosive chilis was also quite good. We had also given the string beans, green onion pancake, and pork and shrimp dumplings a shot and all of them hit the spot. I'm usually a huge fan of braised beef noodle soup so decided to get that here too. It wasn't the same as if I had gotten this dish at a Taiwanese restaurant; compared to the strong flavors of the other dishes, this one was pretty mild.
