The restaurant has a big, roomy space. Unfortunately, the food didn't feel very authentic to Hong Kong café-style cuisine. Service was extremely slow, it took about 35-50 minutes for all of our dishes to arrive. There were only two waitresses handling both dine-in and takeout orders, so the staff seemed overwhelmed throughout the meal. We ordered the iced Hong Kong milk tea and iced lemon tea. The milk tea lacked the smooth, silky texture and rich evaporated milk flavor you'd expect from a proper HK-style milk tea. The lemon tea had a strong tea flavor, but the lemon itself wasn't sour or fragrant enough to balance it out. It also seemed like regular white sugar was used instead of traditional yellow rock sugar, so the drinks missed that classic Hong Kong café aroma and depth. For appetizers, we tried the salt and pepper chicken wings and salt and pepper fish. Both were crispy, flavorful, and well-seasoned, but you could also tell the frying oil wasn't very fresh. We also ordered the baked seafood spaghetti and baked beef tongue spaghetti. Both dishes were disappointing, not enough cheese, overly thick sauce, and an artificial-tasting flavor. The standout dish of the night was definitely the seafood pan-fried noodles. The noodles were nicely crispy, the seafood to vegetable ratio was generous, and the gravy sauce tied everything together well. Overall, the food didn't really deliver the authentic Hong Kong-style flavors we were hoping for. My wife and I stopped by New Broadway Bistro at 6:00 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon. If you're unfamiliar with the area, parking here is very difficult. Since we came at prime dinner hour, we needed to circle around the block for about 15 minutes before we found a parking spot. New Broadway Bistro was suspiciously empty when we arrived, with only three other seated parties. Between the two of us, we shared two entrees: the baked pork chop over fried rice, and the beef stew over crispy noodles. The beef dish was pretty light on how many pieces of beef were included, but the dish itself was curry heavy, very saucy and quite enjoyable over the extra large serving of crispy noodles. I only was able to eat half of the dish and had to pack the rest to go. The beef pieces had just the right amount of chewiness to them and a good balance of tendon to lean meat. The baked pork chop dish that I tried here was definitely not the best that I've had in the Bay. I've had better fried rice bases elsewhere and generally prefer for there to be more mozzarella cheese melted on top. The pork chop was fine, but nothing amazing -- a tad dry if anything. Our meal with the two entrees and a lemon tea ended up being around $51 after tax and a 18% tip. Ever since the Broadway Bistro changed ownership, I hadn't had a chance to try it. After seeing a YouTuber recommend it, I decided to give it a shot. We ordered the beef chow fun, deep-fried chicken thigh with egg over rice, salt & pepper fish, lemon tea, and Ovaltine French toast. The beef chow fun was very flavorful, with plenty of tender beef. I especially liked the noodles--they had great wok hei. I was also happy to see deep-fried chicken thigh over rice on the menu, since I usually have to go all the way to Sunset (Tak Kee) to satisfy that craving. The chicken thigh was crispy on the outside and juicy inside--really satisfying. The salt & pepper fish had a nice crispy texture, but it was lacking that signature salt and pepper flavor. The lemon tea was legit and refreshing. I would skip the Ovaltine French toast. The deep-fried toast flavor overpowered the Ovaltine, even though it was sprinkled on top. Plenty of parking outside and interior of restaurant looks very new and clean :) Service was alright - not super attentive despite not being busy As for the food: 1. Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings - Absolutely delicious! Perfectly seasoned and extremely crispy. The breading is very light and the meat inside was hot and juicy! 2. Seafood Pan Fried Noodles - Definitely hit the spot! It brought a lot of nostalgia for me personally. Was well seasoned and exactly what it should taste like. Plenty of seafood comes with the dish. My only note would be that because it comes with the noodles with the gravy already on top, the noodles do get quite soggy and break apart. Wow, can't believe I just found this place in millbrae! It gave me such a nostalgic feeling and memory from when I was a child. All their dishes are simple and delicious and their drinks are the right amount of sweet. They have a parking garage in the back and front but beware there's a lot of traffic due to how busy it gets. I came in right when it opened and I was able to get seated quickly but 1 hour later it was fully pack! The place is really big and even has a private room if you want to host a special party. I came here after dinner since I wanted some dessert. Their ovaltine French toast looked interesting. I saw that it was a lunch special but when I stopped by the restaurant, they said I could still order it. They even handed me the lunch special menu even though it was evening hours. The ovaltine French toast was good. It wasn't that sweet and the inside tasted like light chocolate milk. The ovaltine flowing out was like the syrup for the French toast. I felt like there was a balancing act as to when to eat it. If you eat it too early, the liquidy ovaltine inside was still burning hot and if you eat it too late, the toast started to get cold and hard. Service was awesome. The girl working the front who was also my server was very l friendly and nice. She made sure I had water and came back to refill my cup when it was low. I asked if I could watch the giants game if they had that channel and she was quick to switch over to the game. The inside of the restaurant was very clean. The beef was very tender. The hong kong milk tea was okay-wish there was stronger tea flavor. I would not order the baked porkchop rice again. The porkchop was dry and not very flavorful. I don't think they fried it enough before baking it with the rice. I would have also wanted more sauce and cheese on the dish. The service was really great though! They were super nice and very friendly. We asked if we could get more tea so that we could make the tea flavor in the milk tea stronger and they were very accommodating. The black pepper sauce for the pork chop was really bad. (i think it was supposed to be a tonkatsu like dish) The pork was fried really well, juicy inside and crispy exterior and tender! Really good. Rice was kind of hard though, 3/5 overall dish but the pork was 4/5! Beef chow mein (lunch special one) was really good! It had a nice Wok Hei flavor to it, and it was seasoned really well. Good assortment of toppings with it. Very delectable 5/5 The scallion oil pork chop rice was not bad. The egg was overcooked so there was no runny yolk.
