    Princess Fish Fillet 干烹鱼片

This is still my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay. For my most recent visit, we got the following items: 1. Beef pancake 5/5 They put a good amount of filling into the pancake and the pancake itself is very crispy. 2. House fried rice 5/5 It didn't look super appetizing when it came out but the flavor was actually very good. 3. Chongqing spicy chicken 4.5/5 I have to remind myself to ask for less spicy next time because this order came out really spicy (more numbing flavor...) 4. Princess fish filet 4/5 This basically tasted like candied fried fish. I felt the fish filet was very small and was covered in too thick of a batter. 5. Smashed green pepper with eggplant 5/5 My favorite dish, hands-down, from this restaurant. It is so incredibly fragrant and has the softest eggplant. 6. Norther China sauteed cabbage 4.5/5 This dish had pretty good flavor. I think the cabbage is Taiwanese because it has a little bit of a sweet flavor.

First off, what a big Menu. If you haven't been hear before this menu can be overwhelming. Alot, i mean alot to choose from and luckily we came with our family members who had already been and chose the food we were having this evening. We had Dan dan noodles, scallion pancakes, a lamb dish, sauteed green beans, rice, and a beef dish. All were tasty with so many different, wonderful flavors. Also, we enjoyed a pot of hot tea that we enjoyed and graciously refilled during our dinner. What a nice treat this evening dinner turned out to be and enough left over to take home.

This was such an unexpected find! We actually ended up here by accident -- the restaurant we originally planned to visit (four doors down) was closed, and thankfully so, because this place turned out to be a hidden gem. I later learned they were a Michelin-recognized restaurant in 2018 and 2019, and it absolutely shows in their food. We ordered the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Bean Curd with Leeks, Beef Stew with Tofu Clay Pot, and Watercress Pea Sprouts. Every dish was cooked to perfection -- flavorful, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. Each bite was so satisfying that we couldn't even pick a favorite! The restaurant is quite small, but when we arrived around 7 PM, it was completely packed -- always a good sign. Seeing it filled with mostly Asian diners made me even more confident we'd stumbled into a truly authentic spot. Despite being busy, the service was warm and attentive. The staff never forgot about us, and our dishes came out perfectly timed. It's rare to find a place that's both bustling and genuinely caring toward every table. If you're in the area, this little spot is definitely worth discovering -- sometimes the best meals really do happen by accident

Vegetarian - bean curd with leeks. Recommend! Great texture from the long cut tofu and leeks were much milder than green onions.

*** Vegetarian Review *** Eggplant with garlic sauce ($15.95, Grade A) - this ain't your Panda Express eggplant. Thinly sliced pieces of eggplant in a rich and mild-medium spiced garlic sauce. I would order this again. Bean Curd with Leeks ($16.95, Grade A+) - Keeping the theme of thinly sliced items, they cut their tofu in long strips. I truly think they are onto something. The tofu is extra firm, but not like the stuff you buy at the grocery store. If you've ever had smoked tofu, this has a similar texture, but not smoked. Preparing it with leeks versus green onion is something I'll be craving now. Green onions are much stronger and can take over a dish. The leeks still offer that freshness and wonderful color to the dish, but are mild and let the tofu still stand out. Highly recommended! You can't go wrong with this unique dish. Sautéed Pea Shoots ($23.95, Grade A+) - Wow! This was the co-star of the table. This is one of the dishes I order at every Chinese restaurant I visit. I'm never disappointed, but normally blown away. Savory and so darn fresh tasting! The pea shoots aren't overcooked and still have a great bite to them. If you can use chopsticks, much easier to eat this with. Great portion size to share with the table. Bottom line - great service. They were very busy, but still attentive. If you can't decide what to order, just do order the above dishes. They worked perfectly together. Fresh greens to combat the spice levels of the eggplant. Textural components from the long-sliced tofu. Parking can be difficult - we went at 8pm on a Saturday. Ended up parking in the neighborhood across the street about 3 blocks away. Seating is limited - smaller place. I'd guess it holds about 40-50 people. There is a waiting list you can write you name on.

Great food. We order from here for lunch and their lunch special comes with hot and sour soup. Ordered the dry bean curd with pork rice. My coworker got general Tso's chicken rice lunch special. I liked her plate better than mine.

Been eating Yummy Szechuan for years. This was one of our delivery go tos during the pandemic. Glad they came out strong! Can't go wrong with any dish. They're all delicious! Even my three year old daughter says "everything is so yummy!" Their dan dan noodles are exceptional!! The chewiness of the noodles and their savory peanut sauce is just right. Their spicy cold noodles are one of my favorites. The brown sugar rice cake is another standout. Their stir fry and soups are also great. Even though this is a Szechuan restaurant, their northern dishes are all authentic and fantastic. Service is friendly.

I've loved this place ever since I discovered it back in 2018. My roommates and I used to visit a few times a year until COVID hit. It's definitely a great spot for family-style dining, but when I went with just my fiancé, it was way too much food for two people. The portions are quite big so we had leftovers for the next two days. Since it had been a while since my last visit, I was a bit worried the food wouldn't be as good as I remembered. Luckily it was still good. The flavors and spice are just as bold, though the dishes seemed a bit saltier than I recall. One thing that sets this place apart is the numbing spice you don't find at many Szechuan spots. Mapo Tofu: I'd definitely order this again! It wasn't overly spicy but had a nice kick. My fiancé, who has a low spice tolerance, enjoyed it too. My only complaint is that I wish it had a bit more meat. Dan Dan Noodles: A classic dish! The peanut flavor was great, but you really have to be in the mood for it. I do wish it had a bit more spice, though. Griddle Cooked Tender Beef: This was the spiciest dish we tried. The beef was tender and came with enoki mushrooms and bean sprouts in a spicy broth with chilies. I wasn't expecting it to be so soupy; I think I meant to order the Griddle Cooked Beef instead. Still, it was delicious! However my fiancé could barely handle the heat, so keep that in mind if you're spice-sensitive. Downsides: Rice: They charge for individual bowls of white rice. If you're dining with a group, it might be more cost-effective to order fried rice for the table instead. Parking: The parking situation was terrible for us. There's no lot, so it's all street parking. We came around prime dinner time though. We spent a lot of time circling the area looking for a spot, so be prepared for that if you visit. Overall, this place remains one of my favorites for Szechuan food.

A definitely must try place in Millbrae. The food here is delicious. The beef pancake rolls was delicious. Not too oily. The beef was tender and flavorful. Not soaked in sauce. The chongqing spicy chili chicken was delicious and their specialty. The chicken definitely has a kick of spicy. But it's worth it. The burn kicks in and last about 30 seconds. But it's a good but. And flavor. The chicken is deep friend to perfection. You can see how much pepper they used to cooked your order. Since we did take out you can use all that pepper for other cooking too. The service is here is friendly. Parking can be a hit and miss since you have to find parking along el Camino.

Thousand year eggs with tofu - cold was our favorite!
    Sharon L.

The restaurant was calm and clean upon arrival on a Saturday night ~7PM. We ordered the thousand year old egg and cold tofu, steamed fish, griddle cooked beef, sour vermicelli noodles, and mapo tofu. Every dish was solid but not as spicy as we thought it would be. The noodle dish was probably the most spicy/mala! Servers were attentive and kind. I would come back :) please enjoy my photos!

Ordered delivery for lunch at work as me and my office team loves spicy.. actually she is the one who introduced me to spicy foodAnyway, we had the chef special soup with blood, intestines, spam, beef and fish me and my team agreed that soup was not spicy enough I can taste the peppercorns and chili. Also we had the spicy pork roll cold dish-this is okay as I'm not fun of cold dishes. The house special chowmein is just okay nothing special as I prefer the thin noodle. Overall food was good...

Cumin Beef. Extra spicy of course

Keep in mind that this is a Sichuan restaurant so the dishes can come really spicy, so they also let you make adjustments to the spice levels if you talk to the waiter. Food came out in roughly 10-20 minutes which was very fast and service is very attentive. Definitely would help to have a Chinese speaking person with you! I'd been craving that spicy grilled fish from Earl Spicy for months. I'd talked about it so much…read morethat this time, instead of just dragging my husband, I brought the kids and my son's friend too. I was basically forming a fan club. But right before we left, my husband looked up the hours and said, "Wait... it's called Taste of Four Seasons now?" Uh, what? Did Earl Spicy close? Yelp still showed it alive and well, so we decided to go check it out anyway. My heart was already committed. We got there around 7 PM on a Friday. A few tables were filled -- seemed like a good sign. Plenty of servers, but no sign of the old owner. I started feeling a little nervous. We looked through the menu... no spicy grilled fish. Cue quiet panic. I pulled out my phone and showed the server a picture from our last visit. She said they still have it -- it's just made differently now and it's really good. Also, they now use a fresh fish called 多寶魚 instead of the frozen fish Earl Spicy used. Now, my husband and I thought we had decent Chinese, but we had no idea what 多寶魚 was. We stared at the tank she pointed to, still clueless. And honestly, if Earl Spicy really used frozen fish, they fooled us -- it never tasted frozen. I asked how much it was, since it wasn't on the menu. She said $42 per pound, usually around 1.5 pounds. I figured maybe $65-70. More than Earl Spicy's $48 XL version, but hey -- I am here for it. We ordered a few other dishes too. First came the "New Style Sweet and Sour Pork & Shrimp." The menu said pork and chicken, but the server said it was a typo -- it's actually pork cheek and shrimp. It ended up being the best dish of the night. The shrimp was excellent, 5/5. The pork cheek was good too, just a little fatty -- maybe 4/5 for me. My husband wanted Szechuan pepper chicken. The server said the kitchen could make it, even though only a tea-flavored version was listed. What we got was stir-fried chicken with jalapeños. Not deep-fried, not spicy, just... dry. It didn't really land. My son's friend loves fried rice, so we got the $19.95 special fried rice. It came out shaped like a fish -- super cute. First bite though? "Why is this so hard and dry?" the kids asked. I tried it -- yup, same. Crunchy in a weird way, like it had been sitting on the heat too long. I asked the server, and she apologized and had the kitchen remake it. The second version was slightly better, but still dry. Maybe that's just how they do it. Next came the salted fish eggplant casserole. It was only $9.85, but no one really touched it. Just not great. And finally, the main event: the fish I'd been dreaming about. It arrived in the same tray as before, but no tea light underneath. Not a big deal. They'd added a mountain of flat noodles (河粉) underneath, but the fish itself? Dry. Bland. Not the spicy grilled fish I remembered. The sauce was thin, almost like gravy, and the noodles were just soaked sadly in it. A friendly lady (maybe the new owner?) came by and explained that the restaurant now serves southern Chinese-style food, which is different from Earl Spicy's. I smiled politely, but inside I was crying, Why didn't you say that before we ordered? She brought out complimentary glass jelly for dessert -- nice touch. I liked it, but the kids thought it was too bitter. Then came the bill. The fish? $111.77. I did a double take. How was that 2.6 pounds?! I thought about asking, but my husband gave me the look: "Let's just go." So we paid. With tax and tip, the total came out to nearly $240. Final verdict: RIP Earl Spicy. You were loved. You are missed. As for Taste of Four Seasons? Once was enough.

Here's how everything ranked: $22.95 Salted egg prawns $21.95 Spicy fried fish $21.95 Garlic pea sprouts $13.95 Beef scallion pancake rolls I think these are pretty standard Chongqing province dishes. Our The salted prawns were definitely flavorful with umami goodness -- you can really taste a good amount of quality salted egg, the prawns were huge without too much batter and the dish was a good size. I also enjoyed the little corn crunchies. Second best was the fried fish. Their standard level is not very spicy even though it comes with a ton of red peppers so if you like it hot, then don't hesitate to let them know. I appreciate that they don't heavily batter their fish. Our dishes arrived surprisingly quickly, almost too quickly and I felt the dishes could've been hotter so I'm not sure if they were already premade and just kept on a warmer or what. All in all the meal was satisfying and Earl Spicy would probably hit the mark for a lot of people.

We had also given the string beans, green onion pancake, and pork and shrimp dumplings a shot and all of them hit the spot. I'm usually a huge fan of braised beef noodle soup so decided to get that here too. It wasn't the same as if I had gotten this dish at a Taiwanese restaurant; compared to the strong flavors of the other dishes, this one was pretty mild. Our waitress was also great at taking care of us, bring out our food quickly and helping us to clear the other plates. Would likely come back again for the Peking Duck but might try to compare to a few other places known for theirs, too. Also, was curious about a hanging pancake dish that several other tables ordered!!

The orange chicken was also delicious, the breading was yummy and crisp. The white rice here is perfectly fluffy and comes in a decent portion for one. The hot and sour soup was enjoyable! I wouldn't say that this was a standout dish, but it did come loaded up with delicious toppings. The bamboo shoots and tofu were plentiful! The service here is also very quick, I wish the owners continued success.

The food is consistently amazing. The green onion pancakes, salt and pepper tofu, and fried rice are absolutely delicious every single time. You can tell everything is made with care. On top of that, the entire staff is always so friendly and welcoming. They treat us like family, and that's why we keep coming back after all these years. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and even better service!
