Authentic Sichuan-style cuisine packed with locals in the heart of Millbrae. Lot and street parking nearby.

I liked the is place enough. The menu is limited for us as we wanted some classic Chinese restaurant staples which weren't available. But we really did enjoy the fried corn pancake thing they have and their spicy popcorn chicken was delicious. Truly spicy and plenty of numbing spice. I enjoyed the food. I believe one of the folks in our party just wanted chow mien and orange chicken. Oh well, can't please everyone. Service was average but attentive. The restaurant can get loud so I wouldn't say it a first date type of place at all.

Flew into SFO early on Sunday morning and was hangry! So decided to checkout Little Chengdu at the next exit. Parking was tricky but we got lucky. Otherwise you'll have to go around the block to keep looking for someone pulling out if you go at rush hours especially on weekends. Very unique dishes you won't find at other Chinese places. The best are their signature fish in hot tray items! We got one and it was amazing. Added an egg yoke friend shrimp, and a sautéed vege dish. Both also very good. Took home the many leftovers and finished those off the next day. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the peninsula!

A good spot for Chinese food with a wide variety of dishes. There is a QR code on the table and you order off of the link that it takes you to. There's an option to view the menu in either Chinese or English. The English menu doesn't have all of the English names for the dishes listed and some still have just the Chinese names. Not all menu items have pictures, so it may be a little bit difficult to order if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. The food comes out very quickly and has a very nice presentation. The flavors were good and my favorite dish that we ordered was the sweet and sour whole fish. It had a good crisp on the skin and was very fresh. There was a picture on the window of a sweet potato crispy shrimp dish but when we asked about it, they said it was too difficult to make so they took it off the menu.

Friend highly recommended this place so I gave it a try. Tastes super authentic and definitely worth the visit. Sichuan sour and spice noodle - massive portion size. Noodles were chewy and a delight to eat Spicy and sour beef - lived up to the name, it's indeed spicy and sour

Intestine Soup - huge portions of pork blood, tripe, and fish. Intestine were good but wish there were more pieces. Broth was perhaps on the the more milder side, wish there was a stronger kick and fragrance Dong po Pork - not your classic dong po pork. It did not just came with the pork belly, for $21, it comes with the classic pork belly for the gooey texture + and entire shank for the lean meat! gigantic portion size. The garlic sauce drenched all over the dish is the most flavorful thing of the meal.

Good bye, Yummy Szechuan. Hello Little ChengDu. We found out that the chef/owner used to run The Little Sichuan on San Mateo. Happy dance!!!!! This is our place for spicy food now. Must order: Crispy Spicy Beef. The beef was jerky like. Then tons of crispy peppers and peanuts. Cannot describe that first bite with a scoop of steam "white lie". I dare you, order it extra spicy! We had Boiled Fish, Sichuan Eggplants, Spicy Chicken Wings. All of them were really good and addicting!

I ordered through the QR code, so there was minimal interaction with the staff. I recommend using the paper menu to browse the items first, then order through the QR code, as there are many tabs and some items aren't translated, even if you select the "English menu." The tea smoked duck was delicious with a great smoky flavor, though it was quite salty. The spicy Sichuan noodles had a tasty sauce, but I wasn't a fan of their Beijing bean noodle sauce. The dishes are on the pricier side especially the noodle dishes.

first stop off my flight. overall not bad, all dishes were missing an aspect in seasoning but easily fixed with some salt or acid. nice texture on the cold noodles, hit the spot after 2 weeks in europe. brisk asian service, you're not here for the ambiance.

Went back to "Little Chengdu," which used to be "Little Sichuan" in San Mateo. Happy they're open again after the pandemic. The new place is smaller but feels cozy. Had a nice surprise when my partner debated a third dish; I remembered their big portions, so I said no. The Cold Noodle was still big enough for both of us! My favorite, the Sichuan Spicy Cold Noodle, was as good as always. Big portion, tasty sauce--satisfying. Tried Tea Smoked Duck for the first time, and it was better than expected. Tastes like smoked turkey with a hint of tea. Smelled a bit smoky, but the flavor was excellent, not too bitter. Just a heads up, parking around the area might be a bit difficult.

Walked in as a group of 4 on a Monday night around 6:30pm, restaurant was full and had a waitlist going. It took about 15 minutes for a table to become availible. Menu is availible through a QR code but you still order with the servers. Food: Spicy Sichuan Cold Noodles - pretty good, large helping of noodles topped with a cucumbers, ground pork and a spicy soy based dressing, this was pretty spicy but a nice way to start the meal Sichuan Spicy Crispy Beef - delicious, beef slices were fried with a lot of chili peppers and peanuts, this was spicy but not over bearing, texture of the meat was similar to a juicy beef jerky which made for a really interesting eating experience, definitely worth ordering Tea Smoked Duck - pretty good, this dish did take a while to come out compared to the other dishes but when it arrive it was super hot and skin was crispy, nice smoky salty flavor, duck was juicy and tender, very tasty Dry-Cooked String beans - well seasoned and flavorful, green beans were a tad bit soft and overcooked from our perspective but still a nice vegetable dish to round out the meal Service fine, restaurant was slammed so it took a few minutes to place our order. Restaurant seemed a little bit short staffed but majority of the food once ordered placed came out quick with the exception of the duck which took a bit longer. Overall good Sichuan style chinese restaurant, dishes were a generous portion and flavors were great. Definitely get the crispy beef and the tea smoked duck these were unique and delicious. Also there might be a bit of a wait but tables turn quickly.

as always, their cold noodles hit so good. I love the flavor of all of their dishes. It is superior and it hits my craving every time. The sauce and the chili complements the noodles so well and the couples delight with beef is delicious. These two are the two dishes i always get.

Bullfrog with two types of chili peppers (I translated it myself)

I'd been craving that spicy grilled fish from Earl Spicy for months. I'd talked about it so much…read morethat this time, instead of just dragging my husband, I brought the kids and my son's friend too. I was basically forming a fan club. But right before we left, my husband looked up the hours and said, "Wait... it's called Taste of Four Seasons now?" Uh, what? Did Earl Spicy close? Yelp still showed it alive and well, so we decided to go check it out anyway. My heart was already committed. We got there around 7 PM on a Friday. A few tables were filled -- seemed like a good sign. Plenty of servers, but no sign of the old owner. I started feeling a little nervous. We looked through the menu... no spicy grilled fish. Cue quiet panic. I pulled out my phone and showed the server a picture from our last visit. She said they still have it -- it's just made differently now and it's really good. Also, they now use a fresh fish called 多寶魚 instead of the frozen fish Earl Spicy used. Now, my husband and I thought we had decent Chinese, but we had no idea what 多寶魚 was. We stared at the tank she pointed to, still clueless. And honestly, if Earl Spicy really used frozen fish, they fooled us -- it never tasted frozen. I asked how much it was, since it wasn't on the menu. She said $42 per pound, usually around 1.5 pounds. I figured maybe $65-70. More than Earl Spicy's $48 XL version, but hey -- I am here for it. We ordered a few other dishes too. First came the "New Style Sweet and Sour Pork & Shrimp." The menu said pork and chicken, but the server said it was a typo -- it's actually pork cheek and shrimp. It ended up being the best dish of the night. The shrimp was excellent, 5/5. The pork cheek was good too, just a little fatty -- maybe 4/5 for me. My husband wanted Szechuan pepper chicken. The server said the kitchen could make it, even though only a tea-flavored version was listed. What we got was stir-fried chicken with jalapeños. Not deep-fried, not spicy, just... dry. It didn't really land. My son's friend loves fried rice, so we got the $19.95 special fried rice. It came out shaped like a fish -- super cute. First bite though? "Why is this so hard and dry?" the kids asked. I tried it -- yup, same. Crunchy in a weird way, like it had been sitting on the heat too long. I asked the server, and she apologized and had the kitchen remake it. The second version was slightly better, but still dry. Maybe that's just how they do it. Next came the salted fish eggplant casserole. It was only $9.85, but no one really touched it. Just not great. And finally, the main event: the fish I'd been dreaming about. It arrived in the same tray as before, but no tea light underneath. Not a big deal. They'd added a mountain of flat noodles (河粉) underneath, but the fish itself? Dry. Bland. Not the spicy grilled fish I remembered. The sauce was thin, almost like gravy, and the noodles were just soaked sadly in it. A friendly lady (maybe the new owner?) came by and explained that the restaurant now serves southern Chinese-style food, which is different from Earl Spicy's. I smiled politely, but inside I was crying, Why didn't you say that before we ordered? She brought out complimentary glass jelly for dessert -- nice touch. I liked it, but the kids thought it was too bitter. Then came the bill. The fish? $111.77. I did a double take. How was that 2.6 pounds?! I thought about asking, but my husband gave me the look: "Let's just go." So we paid. With tax and tip, the total came out to nearly $240. Final verdict: RIP Earl Spicy. You were loved. You are missed. As for Taste of Four Seasons? Once was enough.

The price point is a little high and I wondered if it's because they're not getting too many customers and they're just trying to stay in business. The restaurant is quite roomy and decorated with an authentic flare. We were greeted by friendly faces who very warm in all of their interactions. Here's how everything ranked: $22.95 Salted egg prawns $21.95 Spicy fried fish $21.95 Garlic pea sprouts $13.95 Beef scallion pancake rolls I think these are pretty standard Chongqing province dishes. Our The salted prawns were definitely flavorful with umami goodness -- you can really taste a good amount of quality salted egg, the prawns were huge without too much batter and the dish was a good size. I also enjoyed the little corn crunchies. Second best was the fried fish. Their standard level is not very spicy even though it comes with a ton of red peppers so if you like it hot, then don't hesitate to let them know. I appreciate that they don't heavily batter their fish. Our dishes arrived surprisingly quickly, almost too quickly and I felt the dishes could've been hotter so I'm not sure if they were already premade and just kept on a warmer or what. All in all the meal was satisfying and Earl Spicy would probably hit the mark for a lot of people.

For those that like the Szechuan tingling feeling, the chicken in explosive chilis was also quite good. We had also given the string beans, green onion pancake, and pork and shrimp dumplings a shot and all of them hit the spot. I'm usually a huge fan of braised beef noodle soup so decided to get that here too. It wasn't the same as if I had gotten this dish at a Taiwanese restaurant; compared to the strong flavors of the other dishes, this one was pretty mild. So it's something I would skip next time I come, but every other dish was on point. Our waitress was also great at taking care of us, bring out our food quickly and helping us to clear the other plates. Even after we finished our meal and overstayed our welcome by continuing to chat, the staff didn't make us feel rushed to leave.

All the ingredients tasted fresh and the dish had a bit of everything we wanted to try. I liked the tofu skin the best, and my daughter loved the crunchy cucumber. It would be even better if they included lotus roots as well. It took a little while for the house special beef noodle soup (less spicy) to arrive, but it was totally worth the wait. It came piping hot. The broth was very flavorful, with the right amount of red pepper. It wasn't oily at all. The beef was super tender. I loved the texture of the noodles, and the beef to noodle ratio was not bad. A really solid dish. Would love to come back again to try their other dishes, especially their xiao long bao.

Coincidentally, some of my friends were also thinking of coming here so we made it happen on Sunday evening. We pre-ordered the big duck and shared the rainbow salad, bok choy with morel mushrooms, sweet and sour shrimp and sweet and sour whole fish. The Peking Duck was indeed the best I've had in the Bay Area (it's crispy, rich but somehow not greasy). You get the traditional crepes (as opposed to the Bao in most places) and accompaniments. They also made a great broth with the duck bones that served as an excellent consommé. The rest of the dishes were also good - I would order that shrimp and rainbow salad again for sure. We were promptly seated and we were supposed to be ordering on the tablet. Since it was our first time, we chose to ask the waiter. We found out that Beijing style is either spicy or sweet!! Yes, the Peking duck was served very ornately, some slices arranged as a blooming flower, most of the meat and the crispy skin served in a duck shaped tureen with candles in the base to keep the meat warm, steaming pancakes in a basket. Now the difference is on the plate that came with sliced cucumbers and slivered onions there is a substantial amount of ...SUGAR! Yup, apparently Beijing people sprinkle sugar on top of their duck! And nope, we skipped this ingredient. We also had green beans ( asked for non spicy ), peppered angus beef cubes and garlic ( different kind of heat, we can do this !) fried tofu plain, and combination fried rice, and crispy fried shrimp. This was a surprise, the shrimp was in the shell and nicely fried, crunchy.... BUT they were totally SWEET!! Sugar sweet, dessert sweet! Nowhere was it mentioned they would be this sweet! There were some interesting dishes we saw on neighboring tables, like the spicy chicken, but since we don't eat that spicy, we didn't order that. They offered hot pot too, but the whole party had to order the hot pot, not just one or two persons. The tables did have wells for the hot pot, so I saw people have to get up to dip and cook their meats in the hotpot broths. Not a good set up. Parking is easily found on the streets, but be warned you need to feed the meters till 8 pm even on Sunday.
