    Alaskan king crab legs
    Selina T.

As a Millbrae native I have seen and ate at many different Chinese restaurants that cycled through this location. With the change to Won Kok me and my family have eaten here a few times with all great experiences. For my sister's birthday my mom was able to reserve ahead of time an Alaskan king crab which was amazing! We got an 8lb king crab that they made into 3 different dishes: one with just the legs, another one deep fried where you can choose a flavor (we chose Salt and pepper, though many people I think choose the salty egg) and the last as a fried rice. They give you options for customizing the 3 dishes which was nice. And wow was it an experience. Great presentation, great service, and we left full and super happy. Place is pretty casual, similar to typical old school Chinese restaurants. I still have to check out the dim sum. Worth a visit!

No walk in wait on a Thursday at noon. Honestly this place has great dimsum, great service, and it wasn't too busy when we went so it wasn't too loud like some other busier dimsum spots. Some dishes in order of how "Must Try" they are... 1. Squab 2. Pork Shiu Mai 3. Chicken Feet 4. Pork spare ribs 5. Egg custard bun The only dish I didn't care for as much was the tripe since it had a little more of a slimy sauce than I'm used too (that's their style, I'm just not used to it) Would definitely come back.

Call to make reservations!! This place is their second location, always super packed and the hot new restaurant. They offer dim sum here!! Updated elegant interior from previous owners with large screen in the back displaying the food options. There is a parking lot in the back and some spots in front of the restaurant. Service was excellent and we were offered fresh plates twice during dinner service. Two private rooms for bigger parties. Dessert is offered at the end of the meal. Order: Truffle Peking duck: PREORDER. the dish of the night, crispy skin with moist meat pieces. pancakes instead of the buns to keep it light Roast Squab: another dish they are known for at their last location, and chef has brought the flavors here. Skin is crispy, meat is juicy. Must order for any meal House Special Zhen Jiang Spareribs: tangy, tender flavor that is not smothered in vinegar Deep Fried Crispy Chicken with Sticky Rice: preorder is needed for this item, the skin is crispy, sticky rice is filled with Chinese sausage, shrimp, dried shrimp, and scallops. premium ingredients in this time consuming dish Pea shoots with garlic: simple and delicious dish

2nd Visit - Celebrating Mother's Day with Family The pigeons are the best I've had among Chinese restaurants. The soup is good and not oily at all. The geoduck is fresh and thickly sliced, and the lobster noodles are flavorful and perfectly cooked. The pea tips in broth are okay--slightly less tender and a bit salty. The restaurant is always very crowded, but overall, it's one of the better Chinese restaurants in terms of taste!

I loved the food at Won Kok SF so we decided to check out Won Kok Millbrae. Parking: Relatively easy in Millbrae Service: Great for a Chinese restaurant Ambiance: Loud, lively, not for the faint of heart We made reservations for 11 and pre-ordered their infamous roasted squab (uncut). I'm a fan of a juicy squab but have never had it uncut...that takes it to another level of juiciness. This is the dish that keeps me coming back. It's superb. We also ordered the following: *Braised fried tofu, mushrooms and veggie: delicious *Pork char siu: fatty goodness *salted egg yolk shrimp and pumpkin: good *supreme chive dried shrimp stir fry: lots of wok heat *beef short rib: huge hearty portion *fermented tofu ong choy: must order I would definitely recommend Won Kok for a big family or group meal. Food is good and service is even better!

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Parking is available on nearby surface streets. Dining is indoors exclusively with a private room available with karaoke. Won Kok seems to have taken over a couple other Cantonese restaurants in the past. The interior seems to be recently remodelled. Was able to get a table as a walk-in on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was 80% full on a Saturday evening. Started off with the vinegar chicken feet and they were decent. I think the dim sum version is easier to eat as the skin falls off the bone more. The roasted squab was decent although it may have been a touch cooked more than typical. The garlic big snow pea shoots were decent albeith some of the stalks were "old" and may need to be trimmed. The fish collar clay pot was decent with a ton of fish (and bones) along with a ton of green onions. Meal ended off with a green bean dessert along with some almond cookies. It was odd as we saw a couple verbal altercations between the staff at different points during the evening. ...hope all is well...

Came here on a Tuesday night at 6pm. Luckily we made reservations because the restaurant started to get packed! Every dish that we ordered was packed with great flavors and the Crispy Pork blew me away! It had the perfect crunch to it! Everyone at my table kept complimenting the soups. Normally when we go out to eat at Chinese restaurants, we would always have several boxes of leftovers to take home. This time, we only packed one bowl of white rice. Very good food!

Won kok opened a sister branch at Millbrae (original store at monterey blvd in sf) and we went to have LNY dinner. It was a full house and we ordered quickly at 6pm. Roast squab was done perfectly - juicy and flavorful. The salty pork feet, popular dish at the original branch, wad flavorful and did not disappoint. We got crab over pea sprouts, salt & pepper geoduck, "lo hay" with geoduck, their house stir fry and frog leg. Total came out to be $400 for 7, so ~$60/person. Not bad. My sis said dim sum was also delicious there. Will return to give it a try!

No wait shortly after opening on a Sunday. The dimsum came out nice and hot. Over all pretty good pricing and taste. I like the brown sugar honeycomb cake which was a bit diluted but still good. This location has changed ownership a couple of times.

Roasted squab. So juicy and crispy!

Loved the dim sum service here at Won Kok. The food came out fast and steaming hot. We had a lot of food but my highlights were the baked lava custard bun, rice noodle rolls with spareribs, and the shrimp and pea sprout dumplings. Everything was fresh and great quality. I usually don't order squab at dim sum but theirs was definitely one of the juiciest and tender with a crackly skin. A rare find. Definitely try that!

    West Lake beef soup

The formal name change finally came through for this offshoot of a popular neighborhood restaurant (my hood BTW) that replaces New Asian Pearl Restaurant. I wrote a review of my visit here under that restaurant title with mixed emotions. With visiting friends in town staying in Burlingame, I made an early Sunday night dinner reservation here for our party of 6. Being abnormally cold this year, it turned out our menu was perfect for the climate. Here's what we feasted on, family style: A. West Lake beef soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=jDrigonjWwcS0JsiKvDYOQ) - A standard Cantonese favorite, this was a warming start to our meal. Adding dashes of the provided white pepper, gave this a kick besides the warming temperature B. Steamed surf clams with garlic and vermicelli (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=WaQ-p2qDdyO96wnLLWW06A) - One of my favorites from their original location, I am taken aback with the presentation here. Each bowl represents one surf clam (two sides) which serves two; use the provided jalapeno/soy sauce mix to sprinkle over it or to dip the clam meat. The flavors were on point but I prefer this being served 'in shell'. C. Crispy roast pork (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=zszFALsKIQXT8u4ef-6bEw) - This is eye catching presentation wise and it was delicious taste wise too. I mainly dipped it in the provided hoisin sauce. D. Special soy sauce chicken, half chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=6xt2qmVaL2qdF8ekK88Zug) - A signature dish at their SF original location, this stays consistent here. The chef made this famous in that popular Kearny Street Chinatown eatery. E. Roast squab (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=69fbM6W76Zsx8MJfYn2NCA) - Also popularized from the Monterey flagship, this is a must for many familiar regulars. My only disappointment was a confusion on the amount order as we received double the amount that I requested in calling in our meal menu. F. Crispy glutinous rice chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=kxAPq-ll90K5RO44Q_6dEg) - My favorite of their numerous popular staples, this must be ordered at least a day in advance. Theirs is delicious due to the variety of ingredients used in the rice stuffing. G. Beef brisket in broth (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=h8IRYYD23aX_BAhj9IO6JA) - Heart and stomach warming main, the boneless meat pieces are tender and flavorful with a perfect pairing of daikon radish chunks. The broth can be a dish in itself. H. Smoked sea bass (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=hcDjBd26LEt9IAjm4Nxl8A) - Many liken this to the popular miso cod dish on Oahu as the meat melts in your mouth with a slight sweetness from being smoked. I. Poached choy sum in supreme broth (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=RWdT5cxP9Vu_V2AsJSwsyQ) - Another soup dominated dish, the mix of yau choy vegetables with the emoji mushrooms and goji berries make this a clean (not greasy) vegetable accompaniment. J. Green bean soup, dessert (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=eAziwI5yi6-RRmUh3lsuMg) - Homey and filled with soft green beans and lotus seed bits in a medium thick sweet soup. They presented this with a small plate of almond cookies, one per diner There were three or four tables occupied when were seated but the dining room filled up as we ate. Only two tables were not used when we left and a few smaller tables had been turned during our meal. Service was efficient and friendly as half of the staff previously manned their original spot. Plates were changed when filled with bones, teapots refilled, and empty plates removed when needed. It was nice to see several of the original staff from SF and the few unfamiliar staff were equally helpful and friendly. Definitely a good destination to take visiting friends staying near the airport.

    Salted egg yolk buns!!
    Michelle T.

Honestly, every dish we ordered was really good. It's busy on the weekends so you'll have to find street parking. We got regular dim sum dishes as well as other non-dim sum dishes like the cucumber salad, strings beans (10/10), fried rice, honey comb cake, jellyfish, meatballs, bean curd with shrimp paste and other dishes. My fav was the salted egg yolk bun!!

Just found out today that Won Kok from San Francisco opened up a new store in the Peninsula (where you can actually park lol) I'm rating them a 5 star because both places have great food across their variety, but there's some caveats. The squab is one of their most popular dishes here like in SF, but its cooks differently. Crispier skin here and fast-BBQed according to the staff, unlike their SF location that slow-BBQs it. It's quite different and I prefer the SF style, even though this is still good. It's a larger location than SF, but just like many typical Chinese restaurants that seat big parties, it gets VERY loud in here. If that bothers you, I'd recommend against here. It might be because they just opened recently or that it's the holidays, but service was a bit slow - again, not something I'm foreign to at these type of restaurants, but something to be aware of. Otherwise I'd return for family meals, great food still!

The traditional dishes like egg tart, sweet rice cake, dessert were good, also highlighted on the pork belly dish-- crispy skin and juicy meat. The not so great adventurous dish -- fried duo chun fish, bitter ending taste. Other than that, this restaurant still on my top list whenever craving for dim sum or Cantonese dishes. We have ordered a few favorite dishes as mixed mushrooms stir fried chicken filet , Fish mew chicken soup , Fuji seafood fried rice with gravy . And I took two dim sum from the cart ( stewed chicken feet in Abalone sauce and steamed beef rice roll) . All the food was delicious. They did add the 'New SF' prefix the name to distance themselves. Coming here on a Saturday after making dinner reservations on a late Saturday afternoon, I saw a number of familiar faces immediately. Half of their staff are from the Monterey Blvd. Won Kok Restaurant. This was my 1st time dining here in likely close to thirty years when it was another restaurant. Back to our meal, we were seated at the far end corner of the restaurant, prime location for spacing and restroom access. In crafting our menu, my friend chose several staple dishes from their original location; besides those, my friend was gifted a Bay-caught halibut so I asked the restaurant for suggestions in cooking it. The chef suggested cooking it two-ways. I knew the captain from his two previous restaurants (20+ years) and he guided us. Here's what we ate (family style): 1. Steamed surf clams with garlic and vermicelli noodles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=lPyTuWkX4RoUtP-3fZ2UiA) - These were served in two halves on each plate (four plates for eight shells) for our party of eight. Tasty, flavorful, and fresh as their flagship location in San Francisco. 2. Soy sauce supreme seasoned prawns, 2.5 lbs (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=wYtIFMiiYTuhOa_CmggLrQ) - I actually requested "West Lake" shrimp but was subbed out by this. This was good, just not what we wanted and expected and definitely pricier. 3. Salt and pepper halibut (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=9scLPxW30ktLJK72UIrSBw) - Half of our provided fish was cooked this style. It was done well as you'd expect from the most famous R&G chef to go through their kitchen. 4. Sauteed pea sprouts with garlic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=GDqjVZCqWnGvZ68sbHjqCw) - Pretty standard version and the pea sprouts were cleaned and trimmed well without any inedible or chewy pieces. 5. Pan fried pork spare ribs with soy sauce (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=x3xQew_Es07lW2dPJwB7BA) - This was the captain's recommendation and it was good but didn't stand out in any particular way. The ribs are cut into bite sized pieces and flash fried. 6. Simmered beef stew & turnip with pepper in broth (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=CAg60fXr0CfXtrcPVm2kEQ) - One of the signature dishes from the chef's days on Kearny Street that he continued at his Monterey Blvd. location. The portions are certainly enough for our large party as a family style dish. The broth is definitely the star and, for me, the radish (daikon). 7. Steamed halibut with black bean sauce (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=amzaLddp_H2vdSGzrKyYfQ) - The size of the fish made this tricky as, when the captain tried to remove the bones in serving, we learned that the fish was not fully cooked. He brought it back to the kitchen and they cooked this to a perfect cooking temperature. The flavors were nice and the black bean sauce didn't overpower the fish. 8. Golden fried rice with a touch of egg white (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=CZdyzi720mOckNXxHulS4g) - Another restaurant recommended dish, we were amazed at how tasty this was, given the simplicity of its description. Apologies for not having a full serving photo as the captain offered and agreed to him apportioning it in bowls for each diner. 9. Crispy skin roast chicken with garlic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=TspHX9eknS496I3zXwVwlQ) - This is their innovative twist on the Cantonese favorite jia zhi chicken with a strong garlic flavor. The carving of the decorative chicken head (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=DaywI5br-WQb9hh0a5sgng) was impressive. 10. Green bean tapioca soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=12ljEfFOj8tqwIaBXHvTVw) - Complimentary, a nice ending. 11. Red bean paste pastries (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=MwjmcyVoyHVXnmPRWYuM8w) - Complimentary and okay. The theme here, given the restaurant size, is for banquet style meals and prices reflect it. By the time we left, the dining room and the staff were swamped. Highly recommend making reservations especially weekends. More likely to dine at their flagship but will come for special occasions or with South Bay friends.

Walked about a block and a half from the hotel and ended up here. Glad we did. Doesnt look like much from the outside and the inside is pretty simple and small. Not fancy at all. Food has big flavor though and the portions were decent. I got the Godfather hand rolled noodles. Wide noodles with the minced pork on top and green onion. Good chew and a little heat. My wife got the brocolli beef with white rice. Beef was tender and the broccoli wasnt mushy. We both had a soda and they kept the hot tea coming. Server I think was one of the owners. Super helpful and friendly. I told her it was our first time and she explained the menu so we could actually pick something. This is one of those hidden gems. True hole in the wall. Theyve got Michelin recognition on the wall which is pretty impressive for a little spot like this. Good food and great service. What more can you ask for. Just a heads up they dont take cash and they add a service charge instead of tips.

This place has wonderful service, but not so much for the food…read more I love green onion pancakes, a Chinese classic comfort food. Here it was very doughy and flavorless. In fact we found every dish lacked flavor. From the noodles to the tofu to the green beans. Just bland and very raw tasting, like it needs to be cooked more. Lots of chewing since it's undercooked. Broth is salty and not like a rich bone broth. Think watery Ramen type broth. When we were here there was only one other table and some take out orders. I found their famous human smoked pork and tofu just plain lacking. The tofu had no flavor, the pork was equally plain, and the price was more expensive since it's their signature dish. Their hot and sour soup had way too much vinegar, and I couldn't finish it. No one was really impressed by any of their dishes, and no one wants to come back.

Surprised on the number of 1 star reviews but after reading it was all service driven as the food…read moredefinitely deserves more than 1 star. Black Pepper beef Ribs- delish! tender pieces with grilled bell peppers and red onion made this dish pair really well with rice. Fried rice with Scallop & egg white- a little light on the seasoning but still a decent fired rice dish which with the beef ribs dish was a match made in heaven. Seafood clay pot- more tofu than seafood but still a tasty and well seasoned clay pot. Also ordered a couple of dim sum plates (Shrimp dumpling & beef Balls). Both were on par with other dim sum locales so nothing negative about their flavors. Overall service was fine; given it was the lunch hour but all the food came out relatively quickly and would definitely have a return visit.

The dim sum here was excellent and reminded me of home. Not only did everything taste good but it was served piping hot and came out quickly. The breakdown of our dishes is below: Walnut Shrimp - Hot and plump shrimp that has a bounce in your mouth covered with tangy mayo. We enjoyed the light fry. Dried Scallop Egg White Fried Rice - Fragrant but oily and plenty of flavor. BBQ Pork & Egg Cheong Fun - Soft sheets of rice noodle roll with a generous amount of ingredients. Hargow - Very good with big shrimp and a sesame oil flavor. Shumai - Soft thin skin withmore seafood than pork taste. Chiu Chow dumpling & Beancurd roll were ok but had fresh ingredients. Chicken Feet - I liked the overall flavor but it didn't seep all the way in. Parking is challenging but the taste is well worth a visit!

Hella good spot for dumplings and noodles…read more The dumplings were good- the skin was chewy and the filling was flavorful and plentiful. For potstickers the outside was browned well which added a little bit more bite to it. I liked both kinds, different textures on both. Pork shrimp chive egg filling and napa cabbage pork filling are the faves for us. For the dumplings you can have soup as well, which was clear and refreshing with the seaweed. The soup option tradeoff gives you two less dumplings. Still good imo. The pickled cabbage beef noodle soup was good. The noodles were chewy and the broth was very savory. I liked that the beef came in two variations, one sliced style and one in chunks. Both were good, tender. The spicy sauce added another taste to the soup, very flavorful. The tea was good, lots of different options. It does cost though. Good chrysanthemum puer combo.

The noodles were incredibly fresh with the perfect texture, and the broth had so much depth and flavor. You can really tell that time and care went into cooking it. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the broth and noodles. The atmosphere is another highlight. The restaurant has a cozy, authentic feel that genuinely makes you feel like you've stepped into a restaurant somewhere in Asia. It's a cute and comfortable spot that would be great for bringing the family or enjoying a casual meal with friends. Another big plus: parking is super easy! There's a free parking lot right out front, which makes stopping by especially convenient. Overall, I'd definitely come back -- especially for that beef noodle soup! If you're visiting Yuanbao, don't overlook it.
