This is a Cantonese restaurant, not whatever Ichi Ramen leads you to believe. This is also an excellent Chinese Canton Bistro by the name of Hsing Long 興隆小館. I saw several non-Chinese ordering to-goes. The dine-in patrons are all Chinese. Ordering in Canton wins some smiles from the waitresses. We came with an expert in Cantonese foods. She brought us here twice in two weeks. We ordered 11 dishes and all of them great. I will probably come again, even from South Bay. If I would pick 牛腩腸粉煲 Rice Noodle Roll with Braised Beef Briskets in a clay pot and one of the 煎米粉 Fried Vermicelli. If you come after 5pm, try the 煲仔飯 Clay Pot rice. Other are more for those with some Canton familiarity. Go ahead and venture. You are likely to be delighted? Why not 5-star? It's a humble Chinese restaurant that does not focus on deco and bathroom amenities.

Ichi Ramen is really Hing Lung San Bruno edition. I prefer this location over the South San Francisco location due to ample parking and the modern clean setting. Customer service here is also more friendly and attentive. I always order the piping hot pork liver congee and vary between a Chinese donut side or the fermented tofu water spinach. Not sure anyone does pork liver better than them... not that I'm aware of so I make a month only trek here to get my iron fix!

Ichi Ramen is a solid spot. Even though the name says ramen, I think they have really good Chinese food. I have been here a few times and tried different dishes, and everything I had was great. But the one thing I keep coming back for is their wonton soup. The broth is full of flavor, and the wontons are packed with shrimp and pork. The skin is thin and smooth, just how I like it. They do not hold back either. The soup has a generous amount of wontons, which makes it worth it. Dining here is casual. They have plenty of tables, but I would not come with a big group. Service is simple and to the point. They give you a menu, take your order, bring the food, and handle the check. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. If you are craving a good bowl of wonton soup, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I went in to order food to go. While waiting, I was looking at all the food coming out for all the tables. I had ordered bbq pork. I saw a few bbq pork over rice dishes come out and it looked delicious. The bbq pork I got is old and looked nothing like the fresh RED ones that other customers got. Look at my photo. I'm so disappointed and these are my people too. I'll stick with getting it at Hing Lung on Grand Avenue. All the workers in the front were wearing a mask and no one in the kitchen wore one.

Got ramen? Yes...no...but this is actually a front for Hong Kong style cuisine. This spot is not bad, it hits all the cravings for Chinese noodles, Cantonese beef stew, veggies and more. Got the rice noodle with beef stew, the meat was so tender, rich and flavorful, 9/10! The soy sauce chow mein had chewy egg noodles, crisp bean sprouts, but not enough soy sauce, 8/10. Word to the wise: if you can't stomach a dirty dining room, gross bathrooms, and rude severs, go to Panda Express or PF Chang's. I've been eating at Chinese restaurants all my life, and it's totally normal to have rude service and not the cleanest place. But those most of times have the best food.

Stick to the jook. Enough said. The duck is SUPER salty. Like the duck took a shower in saltwater, then injected itself with soy sauce, stood out in the cold, and then plopped onto dry rice. It's absolutely horrible. What's funny is they give you more salt with the extra salty soy sauce on the side. Are you seriously trying to make me die of dehydration? Don't let the noodles fool you. Especially the Chinese doughnut wrapped in noodles, which was as cold as the city and just about as old and stale, too. The shrimp wrapped in noodles was fishy tasting. Skip this. I stopped eating it because I was worried I was going to get sick. The jook was good. It's the only thing worth ordering. It was filled with stuff. It was hot. I'd order this to go if I came back. Don't expect any type of service here either. It's packed, and they won't help you other than to give you the check and tea in the beginning. Other than that, you're on your own.

Very fresh and tasty. You might need to wait up to 25 mins as the cooking time for any pot fried items. Other than that, very fast serving. You can also pay by credit cards.

So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

This is a small and cozy restaurant - ideal for a date or small groups. I came here on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. However, it took a while before my husband and I were seated at our table. If you're hangry, this might not be the ideal spot to go to. There were only two people working the entire restaurant. I think it's the husband making the sushi and the wife taking the orders and bringing them to the tables. There's no parking lot, only street parking, so plan accordingly. The wait didn't bother me too much considering they did have quite a bit of to go orders to fulfill, the phone was ringing and it was just the two of them. So, please be patient if you're going to eat here. I'm sure they are trying their best! They have Japanese food/sushi on their menu, but they also have Korean dishes as well. I ordered a hot California roll, regular California roll with imitation crab (you can ask for real crab- it'll just cost extra). I also ordered Lemon Killer roll and the San Mateo roll. My husband ordered the Penthouse roll and Dragon roll. The Hot California Roll has: Deep fried California roll w/unagi sauce, spicy mayo - I really enjoyed the hot California roll. The tempura batter is really nice. The rice is still soft, but the tempura batter has a nice crunch to it. I really enjoyed that this roll came out warm and not lukewarm or cold. The spicy mayo sauce they put on top really compliments the tempura batter well. It also goes well with the unagi sauce. I love sweet, spicy and savory combinations and this roll definitely had that. It was slightly sweet from the unagi sauce. The California Roll has: imitation crab meat & avocado - The avocado they use is really fresh and creamy. I like how they shredded and minced the imitation crab in the roll. I have been to places that just use a chunk of imitation crab in their California roll. The only areas for improvement that I could think of is that I wish the pieces of the roll weren't cut so thick and I wish they added sesame seeds to the roll. It really helps elevate it. The Lemon Killer Roll has: salmon, & sliced lemon over shrimp tempura, avocado, & cucumber roll w/unagi sauce, lemon mayo - I'm a big fan of rolls that have raw salmon and then a slice of lemon on top. I really enjoyed the shrimp tempura in this roll. The avocado and cucumber were very fresh. I love being able to taste cucumber in a sushi roll. It goes well with the sushi rice and the rice vinegar used in the sushi rice. I wish that the lemon slices were thicker. There wasn't a whole lot of lemon taste. They also don't slice the lemon here with the skin still intact, which isn't a good or bad thing; it's a personal preference. I have never been to a sushi restaurant that use lemon mayo, until now. I thought that was pretty unique and it was quite tasty. - Here's where the Lemon Killer Roll lost some points. I feel like the lemon slices could be thicker. When I received the roll, I could barely see the lemon slices on top of the salmon. It was like looking at an invisible pimple patch on your face. (Weird comparison, I know lol). The salmon itself wasn't that great quality. I have been to many sushi restaurants and when ordering a sushi roll that had salmon on top, it was fattier, and fresher. Another area for improvement is the menu itself. When I was deciding on what to order, the photo on the menu for the Lemon Killer Roll shows it has tobiko on top, but the description of the roll doesn't mention any tobiko. I was pretty bummed that it actually came out with no tobiko. I understand that the menu says food presentation may vary or subject to change, but the photo should still be an accurate representation of what I'm actually ordering and what I'm actually going to get. Otherwise, without the tobiko, the roll should've been a little cheaper. The San Mateo Roll has: Unagi & avocado over soft shell crab, cucumber roll w/unagi sauce -this roll reminds me of Rock n' Roll, but it has soft shell crab. I really enjoyed this roll. All the ingredients really go well together. The unagi wasn't fishy at all. The Penthouse Roll has: Cooked shrimp & tempura bits over shrimp tempura, cucumber roll w/unagi sauce The Dragon Roll has: Unagi & avocado over shrimp tempura, cucumber roll w/unagi sauce What I also appreciate and enjoyed about all of these rolls is that the rice wasn't too hard, and the rolls did not fall apart. They were nicely made in terms of the rolling process. It was only the California roll that the pieces could have been cut smaller. They were very thick. Oh, and they have really good sushi ginger here and free tea! It's like a roasted rice tea. Very comforting for this cold weather! Overall, I had a very pleasant experience and would love to come back again. My husband really enjoyed it too!

I was excited to come back here on a quieter weekday night to avoid slower service, and to try…read moretheir actual sushi versus just getting the bento box. Unfortunately, even though there weren't that many people - the service still feels uncomfortable because it's like the staff kinda ignores you because they're busy but then they also kinda check up on you and you're just left wondering. (this happens when trying to order and also when trying to pay ) And really unfortunately, the food wasn't as good by any standard as it was in the past. I'm not sure if it was a fluke, but the bento box (katsu, chicken katsu, and especially the chicken teriyaki) didn't hit that hard :( The Agedashi dōfu was definitely not great but tried it bc it's one of my favorites. We also got the Bashamichi special roll and the double Hamachi roll - which were alright too. (The wasabi here is on the weak side, but this doesn't affect the rating.) Overall, pretty "just okay" experience and sad that it wasn't as good as it was before :(
