    Pork Katsu Curry Rice
    Stephanie L.

Perfect pork katsu curry - katsu was lightly breaded and the pieces were juicy and tender without fat. The curry sauce was deep and flavorful, full of umami. The call button on the table made service super efficient. Highly recommend!

The weather has been getting a lil cold and wanted something that will warm us. We got seated right away and you'll order to the server. They were super kind to explain the menu and very attentive. I was very surprised with the curry because the initial taste was sweet then it settled down into a delicious taste of Japanese curry. I've never really taste anything like this before in terms of curry and I very much enjoyed it. Also love it how they have 5 different spices that you can sprinkle in the curry - I tried level 1 which is good. Katsu was well made. Also ordered their new "cream cheese udon" - Wow! Indeed it was creamy, chewy, with the choice of bacon and mushroom, it made the dish wonderful.

This location is great! Inside is so cute and service was amazing! All the servers were very friendly and attentive! The food was good (as expected). We tried the double menchi katsu, which was super tender and flavorful (will def get next time)!! And of course I had to add oysters (my favorite)! The shiso mentaiko cream spaghetti was amazing......such a good blend of flavors in a creamy (but light) sauce. So good!!! Will definitely be getting that again too! Overall, we love this chain and will continue to come back!

Food: 3.5-4.0 | Service: 4.95 | Ambiance: 3.75 CURRY HYUGA BURLINGAME was a long time in waiting to try. Japanese Curry, a sweet and mild curry, is very different from Indian and Chinese/Thai curry. Usually served w/crispy Tonkatsu and a cabbage salad, it can be hard to find. Finding good Japanese curry can be just as difficult. CHB satisfies on the Japanese curry savoriness front. While it's nothing fancy (that extends to their decor), it is housemade and delicious. Waitstaff was brisk and courteous. Was advised to not order more than what I had...he was right. Had leftovers to take home! Ordered the signature ORIGINAL KATSU CURRY w/pork. Other option is chicken. Steamed rice in a Japanese eatery is always top notch, always perfect and generous in portion here. The Tonkatsu was crispy but a tad short of tender, but tasty enough to dip in the accompanying Japanese curry sauce. I might ask for the curry sauce on the side next time. Cabbage salad, traditionally a huge portion was a small offering cushioning the Tonkatsu. Accompanied by a small scoop of house made potato salad and pickled veggies. The hot Tonkatsu, steamed rice and Japanese curry sauce was a great combo for me, a very filling and satisfying meal! CH offers a tabletop varied selection of chili peppers: Pequin, Wiri Wiri, Ichimi, Jalapẽno, Orange Habanero. I did a light sprinkling of the traditional Japanese Ichimi pepper to add a touch of heat and that was fine. Signature ORIGINAL KATSU CURRY was a great start to this menu tasting. I'll be back to try their DOUBLE MENCHI CURRY, KARAAGE CURRY, ASSORTED VEGGIE CURRY, KATSU CURRY UDON. CURRY HYUGA BURLINGAME is also one of the few places that has Omurice on its menu. A Japanese omelet w/rice or noodles inside. Their version is HAYASHI OM-RICE. I will definitely be back to try this! See you there!

I've visited both the Burlingame and Cupertino location and I think it's alright. Straight forward service with big portions. I like chicken much more than pork. Pork is harder. I don't think the flavor stands out compared to other katsu curry spots.

    Teppanji - SO GOOD!
    Alendre L.

My boyfriend and I tried this place on a whim after seeing good reviews, and it definitely did not disappoint! We went around 5 PM on a Tuesday, and it was nice and quiet, so we were seated right away. We started with the teppanji and then ordered the katsu curry and karaage curry. The curry was rich, flavorful, and honestly reminded us of our trip to Japan. Portions were generous, and I liked that you can customize with extra meat, veggies, or even add an egg. The real standout, though, was the teppanji chicken--it was so good that we'd come back just for that alone. Overall, great food, good service, and a clean space. Definitely a spot we'll be returning to!

This place has really good curry and tonkatsu! I got their chicken katsu curry but wish I got the pork, because I think that was juicier (my friend got that one). Anyway, the flavors were great and service is fast!

    Oyster katsu curry
    Erika C.

3.5 stars, rounded up, because prices are pretty reasonable. The milk tea was way too sweet (it's more like condensed milk with a splash of assam). The breading on katsu seem more dense than I remember. This was my go to curry place but I think they're more similar to other curry places around the area these days. Friendly service and very responsive to the service button on each table. Comfortable booth seating. I got the oyster katsu curry, a winter special item. It hit the spot. I do feel like I could get similar fried oysters elsewhere though. I'm sure I'll come back but expectations will be tempered.

My go-to curry place in Burlingame. Have also visited the ones in Mission and Cupertino. Consistently good, quick food, friendly staff.

Awesome bang for the buck!!! Very good Japanese curry spot. Delicious tender pork tonkatsu with killer curry sauce. Little spot in a strip mall. Great friendly service.

Katsu with curry with a side of egg
    Jess B.

Really loved this spot! First, the portion sizes alone make it such a great value. You get so much food for the price. I ordered the signature curry with a hard-boiled egg, and everything about it was so good. The rice was cooked perfectly, the curry was rich and flavorful, and the katsu was super crispy. We also ordered the chicken karaage, and it was just as good. The portion size was also huge for an appetizer, and every piece was juicy and well-seasoned. The location is convenient, the service was friendly and efficient, and everything moved quickly. We were seated immediately, someone took our order immediately after sitting and the food arrived just as quickly. Would definitely recommend!

    Do they take reservations?

Hi we do not take reservations. We have waitlist at the store entrance where you can enter your phone number and will text you when your table is almost ready.

Is there any free parking nearby?

Usually and area 1 block from Broadway is 2 hours but after that is free. Metered city parking lots are free after 6pm I believe. However, metered parking was 50 cents an hour (needs coins, old school) last I checked so it’s not that bad! :D

Hello does your curry have any pork or pig products?

Yes. Tonkatsu is a fried, breaded, pork cutlet.

Did you take off the hamburger steak curry from the menu?

Sadly, yes they did. I heard it is not a temporary removal. It is permanent. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you use flour in your sauce, wondering for allergies?

Yes, we use flours when making the curry roux. However, our Hayashi rice is a very popular sauce-rice dish based on beef Demi-glacé sauce and red wine and it does not use flour as it is not made into a roux.
