chicken pad thai, jade green curry, white rice ($2)
    Maddie D.

Pretty good, but a little pricey. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and my friends and I got a chicken pad thai and a jade curry with a side of white rice. The flavors of the pad thai were pretty good but I felt like the noodles were a little soggy but I still very much enjoyed the pad thai. The jade curry was a little more sweet than I expected but it was still pretty good. I never really had basil-y tasting curry so this was new! This restraunt was a little pricey but the servers were really nice and the interior was pretty cute. I think this is a nice place for a casual catch up with friends!

fried rice 4/5; pad Thai 3/5, summer rolls 4/5, satay 3.5/5 The food was averaging 3.6. There's plenty of room for improvement. The summer rolls only had 1 shrimp on top but the sauce did complement the rolls. The pad Thai was a bit too sweet and pungent smell of fish sauce. The skewers were ok. I will come back to try other dishes. The service was ok. The ambiance was very clean although was too hot inside.

The service was super fast and efficient, making a seamless dining experience. The food was both filling and delicious, we ordered Pad Thai with prawns, green beans with garlic and butter (you need to order rice separately for that, and gyozas as appetizers. It all came out quite fast and was delicious. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is quite chilled and cozy. Located in a vibrant area filled with shops and restaurants, finding parking can be a bit limited on the streets nearby. However, there are a few not expensive parking structure close by.

Great location for lunch in the Pasadena area! It's super convenient for me and my co workers and we usually come here when we are hankering for a sit down meal of Thai food. Plus, if you come during lunch during thier happy hour, you get a free egg roll and drink with your entree purchase! Thier Thai tea and green Thai tea are both very sweet, so you might want to ask for less sweetener, but I like it, so no changes for me there! I have been coming here a few years, hands down my favorite curry of thiers is the ruby curry, thier portion decent that I sometimes can't finish it. I like more sweet curries, and this one hits all the right spots! There's plenty of vegetables and bell peppers with the cheaper options of chicken, veggie, tofu and then also beef and shrimp for an uncharge. Service is friendly and pretty quick, as there usually not too much of a wait for everyone in our party to get thier meals! For about 20$usd (including tax and tip and time of this review) I think is a reasonable price for a sit down meal in Pasadena! Will continue to come here as long as I still find myself in the area wanting Thai food during lunch. There is a large parking structure on Green st (one way steet) and Fairoaks, connected to the same block building as Moom Thai, so pretty easy parking, as you go downstairs of the Green St exit and it's just around the corner!

Stopped here on a whim after the Rose Bowl game. We were walking from the stadium and were so hungry. Being celiac I can pretty much count on Thai food being gluten free. We were lucky and were able to be seated quickly. I could tell the server was very informed about the gluten free options. She was very knowledgeable. I ordered the PANANG curry-nutty curry, pea carrot, bell pepper, basil, green bean with chicken and white rice cost is $17.85 It was super nutty sweet and smooth. The restaurant and bathroom were nice and clean. The service was excellent. Would recommend for gluten free and any one else.

March 2024/Pasadena: Moom 48 Thai was a tasty surprise! Discovered the restaurant after seeing a movie nearby & craving a bite to eat! We stumbled upon this Thai restaurant while walking around! Spicy Eggplant w/Crispy Tofu: Absolutely delicious, incredibly flavorful and just a spicy as I love it! Grateful that my tofu was crispy just like I like it and requested it! Love this dish & would order it again!! I also ordered a side of white rice! Large portions; I had plenty of leftovers! Service With A Smile: Thanks, Audi! We received incredible customer service; highly attentive! Loved the decor of the restaurant, very pretty! Overall: I would easily return to this restaurant when in Pasadena and craving Thai food!!

Pad See U, Papaya Salad, Tom Yum Noodle Soup

The food is so good. We ordered papaya salad, pad see u and Tom yum noodle soup. Their Tom yum noodle soup was bomb! Compared to other places it's less sweet, and it has fish cakes in it. I think the flavor is more balanced compared to most of other places I've tried. Pad see u is also super flavorful. And the papaya salad is very fresh. Every dish we ordered came in huge portion size and we were so satisfied

It was a cold night. It was time for some Thai food. No connection to cold nights or even rainy days/nights. Random night really. Haven't stepped into this restaurant which I pass quite frequently. Glad we did. Quenched my thirst with some Thai iced tea which is staple when at a Thai restaurant. Yellow curry was a bit spicy and I wasn't asked about the level of spicy preferred. Honestly didn't think about the spice level until I started to eat it. The flavor was there though with chicken potato and carrot. Enough for 2 meals for me. I had it with brown rice which had rice more grain in it? It was fine. Pad see yu is a favorite and it was yummy with chicken and veg. Leftovers were great the next day. Restaurant is clean. Staff is courteous and quick service. Parking garage around the corner and metered street parking. Will be frequenting this spot.

    Shrimp wonton soup
    Phoebe O.

Everything was fresh and light, not overly salted or sweet, very little spice... also very little flavor. The vegetables and chicken were perfectly cooked. The wine pour was small. We had the shrimp wonton soup, cashew nut stir fry, and pad Thai. The service was solemn and polite. I'm rounding up a star because it was raining tonight... and rain makes some Angelinos sad. You know? I'm not sure we'll be back... but I wouldn't complain if we did. This isn't Thai Town folks.

Please come to this establishment! The staff are so passionate about what they do, the food is amazing, the menu is curated with such care and love for food and seasonal ingredients. This place is an institution. There is no lack of flavor here, and you really get the sense that it's French/Japanese fusion rather than skewing too far one way or another like a lot of places do.

The decor is very classy and elegant, soft lighting with background piano music but you can still have conversations. They have daily fixe menu specials for Thursdays as well as their regular menu. First timer so we had to try a variety of dishes to get a good feel of their cuisine. Wine and cocktail options: had the Shirotini which is a twist similar to a lemon drop. My friend had the pink crane which is bourbon based. Both cocktails were well balanced and tasty. Appetizers: Their famous ravioli: had very creamy sauce over 4 wobton skin ravioli with plump shrimp inside topped with shiitake mushrooms on top. It's a mini meal in itself! Also tried their grilled octopus, cooked perfectly with a nice crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. The main star was the fried catfish sitting in what tasted like a ponzu sauce and please is big enough to feed 4 people! Also had the scallops which were delicious but truly the catfish stole the show. *The main dishes come with a medley side dish of broccoli, carrots and scalloped potatoes. Dessert was the crepes with strawberries and glazed pecans for the filling. The wait staff was attentive but also the owners were there to check in with all the guests to ensure everything was top notch. Learned that the co-owners are best friends. The original owner/chef was Shiro and his niece is one of the co-owners while one of is staff became the other co-owner. What a unique story. Definitely happy to support a legacy business and hoping others will too from this review.

I had never been to Bone Kettle and didn't know what to expect, but wow the service was impeccable! Our waters were kept full, and waiters were swift to clear empty plates or wipe the table before placing the next courses down! The ambiance is lightly dimmed and intimate and very spacious both indoor and outdoors seating. To begin I had the malaria corn riblets and silly me I tried to eat it with a chopsticks and biting right through it. LOL. When I realized the cob is there I ended up using my hands to eat it and I did feel like I'm in a nice restaurant but using my hands felt a bit weird but that's OK, it was absolutely delicious, the corn was easily pulled off the cob and the aoli had a very rich flavor. To drink we were offered the $25 surprise option which was between white or red wine and we chose the red. Our surprise wine was the Abondanza red and paired absolutely perfectly with the meal. For the second course my friend and I both chose the Nasi Udok and boy were we happily smelling the scent of the food and digging right in. Those braised eggs had an amazing taste accented by whatever the sauce was on top I've never had an egg like this. The Cornish hen was lightly crunchy on the outside and nice and hot and juicy on the inside. Absolutely delicious paired with the rice which had this aromatic ginger smell and taste too me that just complemented everything so well. For the last course was dessert and we got the Panna cotta. This is not your average Panna Cotta, no it's amazing. The cheesy base sits in a pool of sauce and little green tid bits that my friend and I can't guess what they are. Instead of being a sweet sweet dessert, the Panna Cotta was a sweet savory dish. I loved the variation and I savored every bite. Definitely a very delicious and amazing experience that I recommend next time you're in the area!

We came across Bone Kettle, and the photos of pancakes, French toast, and other dishes looked great. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated right away. But when the server handed us the menus, I was surprised to find that none of the brunch dishes I saw on Yelp were on it. I even had to double-check the app to make sure we were in the right place! After discussing it, we decided to stay anyway since we both like Thai food. Unfortunately, the food fell short. The papaya salad lacked flavor --it wasn't tangy enough and definitely needed salt. The other main dish was decent, but we've had much better elsewhere. We also ordered an iced latte and a matcha latte, both of which were disappointing. I can tolerate average food, but not paired with a steep price tag. Our bill came out to $80 for just four items. To add insult to injury, a 20% tip was automatically added to the check. I won't be returning. You can find much better flavor and value at President Thai or The Boathouse. Skip this place-you can thank me later.

We had the seafood pasta which was very tasty. The sauce has plenty of flavor and kick, and there is a lot of fresh seafood provided, including mussels and shrimp. Also had the lamb chops, which is one of their most popular dishes, and I can see why. The lamb was cooked perfectly, soft juicy, super easy to eat. I loved that there was chimichurri sauce provided on the side and it went well with everything, including the mashed potatoes and vegetables. This is definitely worth a revisit for any future special occasions!

Seeing the server and an Asian staff coming out from kitchen confirmed that the cooking wasn't fully American taste bud. But that is the reason why it hit me very well. Honestly, whether you have American or fusion or Asian taste bud, the taste quality is better than some average American restaurants. I tried the butter squash soup, lamp chop, and bow tie pasta with chicken. I was enjoying my soup and lamp chop a lot. The pasta was pleasant to me, but it wasn't exceptionally great compared to the lamp chop. My fiancé loved the pasta though, saying that the sauce wasn't overwhelming. It is not a cheap place to come for, but it is because the food and drinks (good white wine) have quality. The wait for the entrees was a little long, even though it wasn't that busy. I believe it was the chef spending time to make sure each dish was done well, unlike the busy restaurant where chefs only follow the restaurant's recipes to make it quick and easy. Lastly, the ambience was okay, but it was more an older fine dining/family owned style. It had some nostalgic vibe if you'd take it that way. Keep it up. I really hope it will be there forever long.

I remember when it was the Diner on Main and, since then, the interior has been remodeled. The interior is comfortable, clean, and the lighting makes the place quite intimate. As for the food, I thought it was very well-seasoned without being too salty. These were the dishes we got: Chicken Salad ($28): A cold chicken salad with fried taro strips, pickled peppers, shredded carrots, cilantro, and sweet pickled onions. I thought this would be very bland, but it turned out to be my favorite dish because of how refreshing it is. The chicken is boiled like hainan chicken and seasoned with a light, tangy sauce. Everything went well together. 4.5/5 stars Orange Chicken ($18): This is a pretty typical orange chicken. I don't think it wow'd me, but I liked that it wasn't overly breaded. 4/5 stars Black Pepper Filet Mignon with Mushrooms ($25): I'm not a huge mushroom person, but I really liked the mushrooms here. It was a combo of oyster mushrooms and button mushrooms with cubed filet mignon. The beef was also really tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth. 4/5 stars Shrimp in XO sauce ($25): This dish was slightly spicier than I expected, but it was also pretty good. The size of the shrimp was huge and the vegetables were on point. It had snap peas, bell peppers, and mountain potato (aka Japanese mountain yam). 4/5 stars The service was very attentive and the owner of the restaurant was very kind. The owner helped us mix the chicken salad at the beginning of our meal and helped my mom cut her birthday cake at the end of the meal. 5/5 stars for service. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes.

This was one of the most unique things I've tried at a Japanese restaurant. For $17, the portions are super generous - lots of fresh salmon and tuna, and not overfilled with lettuce fillers. I normally won't eat kale, but I'll eat this! The kale noodles were very similar to soba noodles, and the kale bits were crispy almost like nori. I enjoyed the sauce they used - a little sweet and nutty. I'd repurchase this without a doubt! I got the salmon lotus roll on my first visit because I love lotus chips, and so this one really intrigued me. The salmon on top was delicious and very tender. It might be one of the best salmon rolls I've had. The unagi in the don was also very tender that there was no need to chew. I haven't had much unagi in the past, but this is one of the better ones I've had. I've mainly had firmer ones, but I liked that this was very soft. Lastly, I tried the black tonkatsu ramen, and what I loved the most about this was generous amounts of the crunchy thin mushroom. This is one of my favorite ingredients in ramen other than the chashu and noodles. The broth isn't very thick or rich, and I think the amount of garlic in it was just right to be enjoyable. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. Overall, I've found this place to be a very enjoyable experience, and I'm excited to try more of their menu!
