The ambiance of this restaurant is worth the visit. The food and drinks were delicious. Fresh seafood, everything came out the right temperature. We had a leisurely meal with premium seating, the view is amazing. The server was not reading our table well. Not bad service but nothing to write about. The Monarch is worth visiting and returning to. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. If I lived in Dallas I would definitely come here more often! This restaurant is located on the top floor of a hotel. Before you even enter the elevator, they have a booth set up giving patrons, regardless of appointment or if they just wanted to check it out, a complimentary alcoholic drink. I headed to the restaurant using the elevator. The entrance area is a bar with a lounge. Unfortunately reservations were full for dining area when I went. However they told me I could sit at the lounge area and get full service. Lounge area consisted of low sofas with low tables. The waitress was great, very knowledge and very friendly. She was pretty efficient. I loved the starter bread- absolutely amazing. Furthermore, pinky ring was a very sweet alcoholic drink that I loved. Black truffle risotto was absolutely delicious! And it seemed like actually a lot after having all my starter bread. If you were lucky enough to be near the window, the view of Dallas is amazing as well. I highly recommend you come here for a celebration or just a more fancy catch up. Definitely miss everything here and if I am in Dallas again, I will definitely come by. read more

Came here for brunch for our 1 year of marriage!! Such a beautiful location. Philippe was our server and he made sure our experience was top notch. He also brought in Sandra, she was the sommelier, to help us get a great pairing for the meals. She was also very helpful. Everything we had to eat was light and fresh. One of my favorite was the oysters. Will definitely be returning for date nigh!! read more

Veal tasted like Tyson chicken, and sauce was mediocre. Ricotta whip had no flavor, but the salt and tomato's were good. The mushrooms were savory but soaking in oil, service was very slow and unaccommodating. Menu knowledge was inadequate as well. Could be a great restaurant. read more

We reserved a window seat ( deposit required) We had the chefs multiple course meal and wine pairing and it was awesome! I usually don't go in with a 4 digit budget in mind for a dinner for two. But my wife deserves the best and this was the best! I think she will keep me for a few more years. The staff made us feel special and we tried wine I would never have ordered. Ask for Alex ***** This was definitely a 5 star experience and most of it was related to his impeccable service. From the warm greeting with free champagne on the elevator ride to the top floor, to the immediate seating at the time of our reservation; to the extreme attentiveness of the staff, this restaurant is ON Point. The alcohol director, Eric, explained the vision for his drinks. Alex explained the restaurant's concept, made recommendations, and was just a really great complement to our overall experience. We are looking forward to going back soon. read more

Not worth it....First timers celebrating an anniversary. We were looking forward to a great dining experience and got organized chaos and average food. Waited 30 minutes past our reservation time. Two different people brought us prosecco as a nice gesture for the inconvenience. Sommelier finally brought us our overpriced bottle of wine as we were about to be seated. The wood fired mushrooms came out cold. Twice. The rest of the meal was average at best. The food felt mass produced and not cooked to order. The tableside tiramisu was the highlight of the night. This was a one and done place for us. There are much better special occasion places in Dallas. read more

March 2023 Wow, just a super luxurious EXPERIENCE here. Complimentary glasses of champagne poured right in front of your face as you enter the spotless and beautiful building. Courteous staff, LGBTQ, friendly, beautiful, gorgeous areas all around . I popped in on a whim after salivating over the lobster spaghetti since arriving in Dallas, and 100% recommend anyone to come try it and dress up, enjoy yourself! Service was attentive, speedy, and the food was delicious! Even the complementary bread was amazing. I sat in the wine room, it was nice to see the bartenders making drinks, and checking out the wine cellar as well. Afterwards, I went upstairs to the lounge and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Service: 5/5 Prices: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Taste/Textures: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Bottom Line : This is a perfect date night spot to impress your date, it's also an amazing place to celebrate special occasions and girls' nights. - Ambiance: 4.5, almost like you're in another city although the demographics ranges from really young to really old, kind of a mixed crowd - food: we ordered a few items and their veal was, by far, the best thing that we ordered. Their asparagus salad was very disappointing and not worth the price point... the other salad we ordered was basically veggies on a plate with hummus smeared all over them. - drinks: eh, the pours were heavy and strong but didn't really taste good. TLDR; I'd come back for ambiance and the veal, and some cute GNO pics. read more

I've been here a couple times and I would say you come here for the service, ambiance and not so much the food. The food isn't bad. It's just, not what you would expect for the prices you pay or it could be that I the apps and the entrees I've had didn't entice me to explore more expensive options. There are many Dallas options for better quality for the same price but if your into ambience and great services they are by far top notch. read more

If you ever want a upscale dining experience, THIS IS IT! I went on a Friday and it was the best experience ever. We tried the shrimp, king crab leg, lasagna, and spicy rigatoni. Spent our 10 year anniversary, our first time visiting the restaurant. From the glass of champagne when you arrive to the farewell Thank You's from the staff when you leave, the service was exceptional. We both had The Royale, which was over the top, Bam to great care of us. It was nice enjoying the view and not knowing what the next course was going to be. We would highly recommend Monarch restaurant. Steve read more

Overall the experience was great. We did have a 45 minute wait on a Tuesday passed our reservation time. We were greeted downstairs with champagne which was nice. The design of the restaurant was very pretty. Their food...most of it was amazing. There were a few dishes I could omit next time but the must haves for me are the: prawns, carpaccio, crudo or apps; the whole main lobster spaghetti was my favorite dish of the night; the bistecca alla fiorentina was the best entree. The lasagna was too salty and a bit burnt on the top, the sea scallops were not worth the price and underwhelming but I did enjoy the peas it came with, the filet mignon wasn't as tender and flavorful as the bistecca. Some of their food does tend to be on the saltier side for my liking. Our server was not the greatest as well. I was very disappointed in her service. She would check up on us maybe 2/3 times the entire meal. It was frustrating when we wanted something but she was no where to be found and it would be another 20/30 minutes before we got her attention or we had to track down a different server to help us. Overall it was a good experience. The lost of the star was for service and over saltiness of their food. read more

Monarch is an amazing dining experience, start to finish! I dined alone, no reservation on a Thursday night, and was seated right away in the lounge. This felt like a VIP experience: the complimentary champagne, the wait for the elevator, exiting the elevator, and the hostess stand. I sat at a corner table with a beautiful view of the city. The vibe in the lounge was energetic. The team at Monarch is amazing! I interacted with so many people, it never felt like I was dining alone. Liz is a star! She had so much energy, spoke passionately about the menu, and made great recommendations. Kaylei is the best: bright personality, knowledgeable about each dish, and attentive. Eric was friendly and engaging. The service went above and beyond my expectations. The food and cocktails were amazing. Some of the best oysters I've ever had. The charred octopus was delicious. The spicy rigatoni had so much flavor and went well with the mushrooms. Yes, I recommend Monarch! I was visiting Dallas, and found the restaurant on a "top restaurants" list. The food was the best part of Monarch was the food. The hostess were also very professional. But, our waitress was awful. Well, she treated the surrounding other people of color subpar. But, the none people of color, were treated very well. She totally ruined the experience. 1. We were greeted by our waitress with a happy anniversary sign. A quick scan of the room, other tables had a stand to place this sign on. Not us, we got to hold it in our hands like, what do I do with this, it was a kind gesture but her delivery left a lot to be desired. 2. Other tables we offered bread, given menu suggestions, she did none of that. I don't know it was a special occasion and I wasn't happy with the level of service received. read more

Chef's 9 course menu was lovely, and more than enough food. Very much worth the price for the quality and quantity. Service was outstanding, and the entire experience was lovely. Only slight con was the music was just a tad too loud, but that is just me nitpicking. read more

The view is incredible, and the staff is attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, the food and mixed drinks are downright terrible. The quality is nowhere near worth the high prices, making the dining experience extremely disappointing. Finally made it out to Monarch for a friend's birthday this past weekend. I've been to Kessaku several times and have been very impressed by their overall service and hospitality and monarch was no different. We were seated in a nice booth for a party of 4 by the window (didn't have to request this btw) and our server James was warm and welcoming as he greeted the birthday girl by name in our group and handed her the custom printed menu which was a very nice and personal touch! The service and attention continued throughout our night as we were consistently checked upon and drinks were always filled up despite a full restaurant on a Saturday night! We were also very impressed with the food, the house focaccia to start with was delicious and buttery. The Tiger prawns appetizer was beautifully cooked and complimented by a fantastic sauce without overpowering the protein. For my dinner, I went with the south Texas antelope which was again beautifully cooked and paired with a nice sauce. The Carajillo coffee cocktail was a very good one and a nice change from the usual espresso martini. Sticky toffee puffing was yummy as well. All in all left with a very satisfying meal and a warm birthday celebration for our friend. Thank you Team Monarch! read more

Laughably expensive venue, overdone decor, snobby staff- I could go on. Good drinks but insanely priced. View & service is amazing! Sadly the food and drinks are a bit hit or miss. I've come here 3 times and have always had that experience. Shrimp Scampi Ravioli - would not recommend, the shrimp is very chunky and doesn't pair well with the ravioli. Usually when you think of shrimp scampi you think of a white creamy lemony sauce and this was just the complete opposite of that lol. Sides - We got the mashed potatoes & zucchini, both were good! Veal Parm - good portion size, decent taste Mexican Secret - I got this for my second drink, it legit tasted like nail polish remover. The ingredients sounded yummy but it did not taste it. Espresso Martini - actually one of the better espresso martinis I've tried, would recommend! read more

From getting a glass of champagne as soon as you arrive to being escorted to the bathroom, to the crumb clean up after every plate, to the glasses never being empty, the little things in service make all the difference here. I've wanted to go to Monarch for months and finally was able to with one of my best friends. To start: they have $10 valet by the entrance, and when you walk into the hotel you're greeted with complimentary champagne and whisked off all the way up to the 49th floor. The restaurant itself is very, very fancy and I saw a lot of people wearing cocktail attire, but my friend and I came in business casual and we didn't feel too out of place. Keep in mind though, that if you want a window seat you have to reserve it ahead of time -- I tried asking for one and they said they were all booked up. In the women's bathroom, the stall on the very right has a view of the city, which was pretty cool. For drinks, we got the pinky ring and the secret garden which were both really good and didn't have an overwhelming alcoholic taste. We ordered the spicy rigatoni vodka and the shrimp scampi ravioli; I thought the shrimp ravioli was very unique and tasty and the spicy rigatoni was pretty good, but it does pale in comparison to the one at Carbone. The wood-grilled chicken entree was probably some of the best chicken I've ever had, and the garlic whipped potatoes were packed with flavor and delicious. To close out our meal, we got the tiramisu, which was really good; however, it doesn't resemble a traditional tiramisu at all so be aware of that. At the end of our meal, our captain was nice enough to take us to see the city view from the speakeasy upstairs, even though it was a Sunday and the speakeasy was closed. He told us that he wanted my friend to see it since she was from out of town, which was a very nice gesture on his behalf. Overall, a great experience and really good food. I could easily see myself coming back. read more

I'm not sure where to begin. This was the most amazing dinner my husband and I had in a very long time, possibly ever. Our server, Bryan, was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. The food was so delicious. We shared the crab leg special that was in a spicy oil/garlic butter sauce (I'm not doing it justice but it was unbelievable), the wagyu filet, truffle risotto and asparagus. It was all presented perfectly well and each bite better than the last. The somalier was extremely helpful and actually steered us toward a bottle of wine that more than $100 less than the one we were looking it, which was a refreshing change from most places who only want to upsell you. The ambience is spectacular. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had a table by the window with gorgeous views. We will definitely go back here again!! read more

My husband and myself decided to celebrate our 9th anniversary at this restaurant, what can I say? We like fancy foods and drinks. We were running late, we had the slowest Uber driver in Texas (I know, unbelievable). We rushed in and were greeted and calmed down by the hostess downstairs, she gave us a glass of champagne and I was able to finally start enjoying the night. We reserved a table by the window, the view was amazing especially at night. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. All the drinks were great, the diamond noire was amazing! The bartender made a cucumber lime tequila drink just for me, it was delicious. For appetizer we ordered the Fritto Misto di Mare, tasted very fresh and good. I ordered a Wood-Grilled Whole Branzino, very fresh but unfortunately it wasn't my favorite fish, I was a little disappointed that the server didn't let me know that the fish had bones, wouldn't had ordered that if I knew. The Brussel sprouts and potatoes were good, but could had been better, the potatoes needed more seasoning. Definitely recommend this place for special occasions or if you have extra money to spend. read more

I booked a reservation for 6 people to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was very easy to communicate with the restaurant since they offer text messaging and online booking. They were very prompt in communicating and working with me & the dietary restrictions in our group. This is a very swanky place - perfect date night, celebration spot, etc. Great views & people watching! The service is impeccable. It was like our waiter had studied our reservation notes and knew them by heart. He was funny and engaging. He knew the menu and where to make suggestions for us. I'm the vegan of the group and, while there aren't many options here, there are enough to make a meal. My starter was a salad with hummus, shaved veg, and crispy chickpeas and it was delicious! (Just no crackers with it since they have Parmesan.) My entree was a pasta dish with mushrooms & asparagus and it was really good. A little on the small side but that turned out to be a good thing because it was really filling. Others at the table had pasta to share as starters and meat or fish entrees and they all really enjoyed it. Where I had to take off a star was the cocktail menu. My friend ordered the Love Triangle but had to send it back because it tasted like cough syrup (I tasted it & would agree). I had the Secret Garden and just wasn't impressed - too herby. 2 others at our table had the Porn Star Martini and it was ok - they liked it though. 2 others ordered a bottle of wine and the sommelier came by to help them choose and they ended up with a bottle they liked. At some point in the night, ladies, make sure to check out the restroom. The last stall has an amazing view of the city! This really is a spectacular place for a special meal. read more

If not, just visit the bathroom. All of their food is solid, the cocktails are strong and well made. I don't generally like brussel sprouts but these were just great. I like the family style sides so you get to try a variety of items. The seafood appetizer portions are generous. The oysters are ice cold. The wine was flowing. 10/10. We enjoyed our experience at Monarch for our 10 year anniversary. I made a reservation and added on the option of a personalized menu. Glass of champagne before you go up the elevator is a wonderful touch. Our waiter, Juan I believe was his name, super friendly and knowledgeable. Start you with bread, delicious butter in honey, olive medley and some meat. We ordered with meatballs and a Caesar salad. I got the scallops and my husband got the filet. He ordered the truffle sauce on the side because he isn't a huge fan of truffles. He said he felt is steak was a little under seasoned but that was likely because the dish is intended to be served with the sauce on it to account of the flavoring. Finished the evening with the chocolate soufflé and salted caramel ice cream. Best soufflé I've had. Better than Rise. Will dine here again! read more

If you are looking for a classy spot for a girls night out or a romantic date, Monarch is THE place! I always dread going downtown and finding parking, but the building Monarch is located in has $10 valet parking. When we entered the lobby we were greeted with champagne glasses that we took with us up the elevator and all the way to our table. The service is always impeccable. We had a reservation for a group of 8 to celebrate a friend's birthday. For an extra $10 you can get a custom birthday message printed on one of their menus which was a nice touch. We ordered the prawn & crab cocktails, a variety of pasta dishes and the tomahawk. At some point our server advised us to stop ordering because we had ordered plenty of food already and he was worried we wouldn't finish everything haha. All their pastas are made from scratch and they are all amazing. My absolute favorite being the shrimp scampi ravioli and the short rib bolognese. The giant sea scallops were a favorite among the whole table. The tomahawk was juicy and all their sides are good as well! The only minor con was we had brought a small cake and they told us the cake fee was $6 PER PERSON, so $48 for 8 of us, but it is what it is. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but between billing issues, slow service, and no enforcement of the dress code, it's a miss. If you take one thing away from this - check your bill for accuracy. tl;dr: Billing - bar and food bills contained items we didn't order Service - slow, but server was attentive Ambiance - great view of Dallas, but loud and have to yell at the person across the table to talk Food - okay/mid Drinks - great Dress code - plenty of people in shorts and t-shirts Had a reservation in advance for a Saturday night at 9:00 PM. We arrived 10 minutes early to ensure we were able to valet and make it up to the restaurant in time. Once checked in, the hostess said our table wasn't ready yet. Sat at the bar as we waited for our table to become ready. From the bar, you have a nice view of the Dallas skyline with large windows on both sides of the bar. First round of drinks came quickly. Trying to order the second round took a while as, what seemed to be, the only bartender was relatively busy. However, the drinks were great. Around 9:30, our table was [finally] ready. Got the bill from the bar and noticed we were charged for a drink we didn't order. The bartender corrected the mistake, but that added another five minutes. Our server was attentive and made a few recommendations and explained the portion sizes on the menu. Our appetizer, charred octopus, came out quickly. The first bite was good, but other pieces were tough and overcooked. Our entrees (crab legs and veal parmesan) were okay, the black truffle risotto was bland, and the oven roasted oyster mushrooms were the best of all of the dishes we had ordered. Our server brought out a couple of scallops knowing my wife was considering them as an option instead of the crab legs. We never ordered these, but were still charged for them. The dress code states t-shirts and shorts are prohibited, but saw plenty of diners in shorts and/or t-shirts. YMMV. Came hungry, left disappointed. EDIT: Lowered to one star after reaching out to the email provided by the manager and never received a response. read more
