First time trying Nepalese cuisine with 3 of my friends. Momo Hut is a humble little known Nepalese restaurant located near the intersection of Fraser Street and East 49th Avenue in Vancouver, BC. Known for their "Momos" - dumplings made from flour and filled with either meat or vegetables which is a staple in Nepali street food. There are 13 variations of Momos that they serve and we chose the Chicken Afgani Malai Momo and Paneer Crispy Kurkure Momo. The two dishes were really good both offering their unique taste. The Chicken Afgani Malai Momo is served deep fried then coated with a tangy and sweet sauce, an interesting combination that works really well. The Paneer Crispy Kurkure Momo is served battered deep fried accompanied by chili flakes and garlic mayo sauce on the side. Staff were friendly and our food was served at our table pretty quickly. Plenty of free street parking is available on the side streets adjacent to Fraser Street and East 49th Avenue.

Momo Hut is a cute little restaurant on Fraser street, right by Fruiticana! We went there on a Friday evening around 6:00pm and the restaurant was pretty empty so we got a place right away. Their menu has a lot of items from indo-chinese to Indian street food and more! Was also super impressed with their portion sizes. We got their: :: Lassi - so they don't have sweet lassi (they do have mango lassi though), so the lassi we got was salty but it was good. Kind of like chaas? was impressed by the presentation. :: Paneer momos - with their momos you can choose what style you would like and they had about 6 different options to choose from. We decided to go for their kurkure momos (basically crispy and deep fried), it was sooo goood! The sauces were ok, we got a mayo base sauce and a chilly sauce. :: Chinese bhel - I haven't found a place in Vancouver yet that has this so I was very excited to see it on their menu. I would always get Chinese bhel on the streets of Mumbai, and honestly... this was pretty close to the real thing. It's basically fried noodles with other things and it's spicy. LOVED IT! And the portion was really big. :: Chowmein and manchurian - it was good, didn't stand out as much as the other dishes though. The service was friendly and fast. Would definitely come back :)

We ordered just 10 minutes before closing, and the team at MOMOs Hut was so kind to still take our order. When we got there, everything was ready hot, fresh, and they even packed us extra sauces and napkins. The service was super friendly and fast, and honestly, these were the best momos I've had in Canada. So good! Definitely recommend.

Service and food were good. I've had momos before but not my friends. We ordered the paneer momos and they were delicious. We believe there were some eggs and vegetables with chopped up paneer in the stuffing. We also ordered the Calcutta chicken curry and Nepalese goat curry. Both the curries were very nicely seasoned and spice level was mild. The Calcutta chicken curry is different from the typical Punjabi style curry that most other Indian restaurants prepare locally so it was nice to try something different. The Nepalese goat curry was flavourful without being over powered by spices. We'll definitely come back and try other dishes

27 varieties of momo preparation. We had breaded and fried and steamed with chicken. Both wete excellent. The sauces were all very good. The house made hot sauce was very tasty but too spicy for the wimpy. The food was an interesting mix of Nepali, indian and Indo Chinese. Food was defenitley more than momos at the Momo Hut. Chinese bhel is an interesting variation on Indian Bhel.

I did a takeout order for dinner one evening, having noticed that they have a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes. They don't seem to have a great grasp of what vegan means, as they assured certain dishes were vegan, but when I asked them if they had ghee, they said yes. Guys, if you're going to label dishes vegan, they can't have dairy in them. Anyway, after confirming the dishes could be made without ghee, we put in our order. They still needed 10-15 mins after I arrived (when they estimated the order would be ready) to finish the dishes. Luckily, the food was fantastic. We got: -Steamed Veggie Momo ($12) -- you get 8 pieces, and they serve 3 different dipping sauces that are all fantastic, especially the red (spicy) one. The dumplings were large, the wrappers were sticky and nicely chewy, and the fillings were generous. These were awesome. Next time we'll have to try some of the other momo dishes. 5/5 -Raioo ($14) -- this doesn't look that interesting, but the flavours are fantastic. This is made with white potatoes and some sort of mustard green that are cooked perfectly so as to still retain some crunch. Very savoury and well-made. 4.5/5 -Yellow Dal Tadka ($13) -- excellent dal, with a nice array of spices, a touch of tomato tang, and adequately salty. Top-notch Nepalese dal. 5/5 -Vegetable Manchurian ($13) -- this is one of my favourites for a special treat. You get a generous number of veggie balls, smothered in a delectable spicy, sweet and salty rich brown sauce cooked with minced red and green peppers and onions. Oh man - so tasty. It was a tad over-salted but when eaten with rice, it works out nicely. 5/5 We got the dishes between medium-hot and hot, which was pretty mild for us. Next time I'd ask for extra hot. Wonderfully delicious food all round, with generous portions and good value. Just be mindful of whether "vegan" dishes are actually vegan.

Don't let the name or the location fool you - Momo Hut not only has some 18 different types of momos, they also serve a variety of high quality Nepalese food! From the outside, you expect the restaurant to be a hole in the wall, but then you are pleasantly surprised upon entering the establishment. Nice, simple decor. Everything we tried from two types of momos to a "Chinese" bhel (originally from Bombay) was excellently prepared. Our server was very pleasant, always smiling and very attentive. Highly recommended!

We were able to find parking across from the restaurant on Gore St at the reasonable rate of $2.00 per hour. There was only 1 other table occupied during the duration of our visit. It was a table for 6. The room was nicely decorated and there is very good spacing between tables. We had a table overlooking Gore St. The service is truly exceptional. There was only the waitress and cook working when we were there. Our waitress was very good at explaining all the options to us and making recommendations. There is a very small wine list and they serve cocktails as well. We ordered a bottle of pinot grigio and our waitress poured the first glass of wine and brought an ice bucket out to chill the bottle. We shared an appetizer of yak momo. They were delicious. They are shaped like a large Chinese har gow (shrimp dumpling). They came with a nice sauce for dipping. It was nice and spicy but not too hot. For entrees I had Druk entrée - dried pork belly. It was wonderful. The pork belly was nice and crisp. It came with vegetables and wonderful bread rolls. The rolls were so good. They tasted homemade. My husband had pork tomahawk glazed with a caramel butter and topped with mango compote. It was so tender and good. The food here is really unique and different. We saw the chef come out of the kitchen and we talked to him. He offered us a complimentary glass of rice wine. When we left my husband left before I did because he was concerned that time might run out on our parking meter. When I came out of the washroom I was walking down the stairs very slowly because I had an injury to my foot. The waitress came to the top of the stairs, noticed how slowly I was navigating the stairs and came down and assisted me. This was a wonderful evening. We had a lovely dining venue, exceptional service and food and reasonable prices. I would like to explore more of the menu.

I would say the flavor profile fell around the spicy, hearty, and rich category. Some of the highlights included the yak momos, a spicy rice roll appetizer with crushed ramen noodles, and toasted sesame brittle. There was also this flaky pastry with powdered sugar that was pretty tasty as well. Service came with hopeful promises of the food taking only 10-15 minutes. Besides our small party, there was also a work party of about 20. Huge group, honestly, and we were pleasantly surprised by the time estimate. However, upon waiting an hour for our food, we decided to take our food to go. The staff were accommodating in that they helped us bag everything in 15 minutes as previously promised, but this was after an hour waiting as people in the work party were served multiple courses. I would definitely recommend coming here when they aren't hosting any functions, so perhaps call ahead to ensure you're not stuck waiting like us.

Nice ambience and spacious seating. Parking isn't the best but you figure it out. In the beginning, they bring you complimentary crispy snacks and it's quite tasty. We ordered butter chicken, fish curry, chicken rice, samosas, chai tea, garlic naan, and my hubby ordered an old fashioned. So we basically loved everything especially the dish with curry & fish. The butter chicken isn't your usual tasting butter chicken, it has much more fenugreek flavor but overall I enjoyed it. The rice was more like Jasmine rice instead of basmati rice which was not ideal. The chai tea lacked flavor and was not sweet at all. The old fashion was good. The samosas were decent. Overall, very good experience and can't wait to be back.

We tried the lamb popsicles with paneer parantha and basmati rice, and Chef Vikram Vij's special flavoured kulfi. For drinks we got the Cambie Whiskey Sour and Modernist Sour. To start, they gave us some complimentary snack and dip to whet our appetite. Then, the food came shortly after. Lamb popsicles were cooked to medium well, but it was very flavorful and the sauce that came with it was super flavorful and well spiced. The paneer parantha was good and the rice is a perfect pairing with the sauce. The kulfi was cardamom based and very smooth. Cocktails were innovative with Indian spices and aesthetic. Modernist Sour was too sour for my liking for the entire drink, and half of the Cambie Whiskey Sour was great with the red wine float but ended up to be too sour as well, so that was a bit of a miss. A sour is sour but not like lemon juice sour - there needs to be a delicate balance of sweetness to make it more easily enjoyable. Service was excellent - the manager of the restaurant invited us to check out the kitchen near the end of the dinner service and the staff were friendly and we got to see what is behind the scenes. It is nowhere near a Michelin star staged kitchen, which is great since it shows the authenticity behind the delicious food being served up. At the end, we concluded with chai on the house which is a nice gesture and finish to the meal. It's great that the chai was not too sweet, my preferred sweetness level. Overall, food was excellent but the drinks were innovative yet a bit too sour. Service is fantastic and in line with Michelin guide rated restaurants, and the overall experience is fairly memorable.
