Inside the vibe is very cozy, with warm lighting and welcoming staff. They offered us chai tea samples while we waited to be seated. The food was incredibly flavorful, and the menu has a large variety of small dishes you can mix and match, so you're able to try a good amount of different foods. Overall a very delicious meal.

We were greeted with a warm embrace and a comforting welcome drink of chai tea paired with delicious finger foods. The Dine-Out menu was impressively extensive. While we initially struggled to choose just one salad, one soup, one cold mezze, and three mains, we were thrilled to learn it functioned like a Mediterranean All You Can Eat--allowing us to order more dishes as we went. We felt like kids in a candy store, eager to explore the vibrant, exotic flavours. The mango-infused dishes were a standout! The service was impeccable. One server even followed us outside just to hand us cardamom cookies for the road. Many restaurants treat Dine Out as a budget-set menu, but East is East used it to truly showcase their best work. We left with new favorites and a plan to return very soon.

We were able to find parking across from the restaurant on Gore St at the reasonable rate of $2.00 per hour. There was only 1 other table occupied during the duration of our visit. It was a table for 6. The room was nicely decorated and there is very good spacing between tables. We had a table overlooking Gore St. The service is truly exceptional. There was only the waitress and cook working when we were there. Our waitress was very good at explaining all the options to us and making recommendations. There is a very small wine list and they serve cocktails as well. We ordered a bottle of pinot grigio and our waitress poured the first glass of wine and brought an ice bucket out to chill the bottle. We shared an appetizer of yak momo. They were delicious. They are shaped like a large Chinese har gow (shrimp dumpling). They came with a nice sauce for dipping. It was nice and spicy but not too hot. For entrees I had Druk entrée - dried pork belly. It was wonderful. The pork belly was nice and crisp. It came with vegetables and wonderful bread rolls. The rolls were so good. They tasted homemade. My husband had pork tomahawk glazed with a caramel butter and topped with mango compote. It was so tender and good. The food here is really unique and different. We saw the chef come out of the kitchen and we talked to him. He offered us a complimentary glass of rice wine. When we left my husband left before I did because he was concerned that time might run out on our parking meter. When I came out of the washroom I was walking down the stairs very slowly because I had an injury to my foot. The waitress came to the top of the stairs, noticed how slowly I was navigating the stairs and came down and assisted me. This was a wonderful evening. We had a lovely dining venue, exceptional service and food and reasonable prices. I would like to explore more of the menu.

I would say the flavor profile fell around the spicy, hearty, and rich category. Some of the highlights included the yak momos, a spicy rice roll appetizer with crushed ramen noodles, and toasted sesame brittle. There was also this flaky pastry with powdered sugar that was pretty tasty as well. Service came with hopeful promises of the food taking only 10-15 minutes. Besides our small party, there was also a work party of about 20. Huge group, honestly, and we were pleasantly surprised by the time estimate. However, upon waiting an hour for our food, we decided to take our food to go. The staff were accommodating in that they helped us bag everything in 15 minutes as previously promised, but this was after an hour waiting as people in the work party were served multiple courses. I would definitely recommend coming here when they aren't hosting any functions, so perhaps call ahead to ensure you're not stuck waiting like us.

Nice ambience and spacious seating. Parking isn't the best but you figure it out. In the beginning, they bring you complimentary crispy snacks and it's quite tasty. We ordered butter chicken, fish curry, chicken rice, samosas, chai tea, garlic naan, and my hubby ordered an old fashioned. So we basically loved everything especially the dish with curry & fish. The butter chicken isn't your usual tasting butter chicken, it has much more fenugreek flavor but overall I enjoyed it. The rice was more like Jasmine rice instead of basmati rice which was not ideal. The chai tea lacked flavor and was not sweet at all. The old fashion was good. The samosas were decent. Overall, very good experience and can't wait to be back.

We tried the lamb popsicles with paneer parantha and basmati rice, and Chef Vikram Vij's special flavoured kulfi. For drinks we got the Cambie Whiskey Sour and Modernist Sour. To start, they gave us some complimentary snack and dip to whet our appetite. Then, the food came shortly after. Lamb popsicles were cooked to medium well, but it was very flavorful and the sauce that came with it was super flavorful and well spiced. The paneer parantha was good and the rice is a perfect pairing with the sauce. The kulfi was cardamom based and very smooth. Cocktails were innovative with Indian spices and aesthetic. Modernist Sour was too sour for my liking for the entire drink, and half of the Cambie Whiskey Sour was great with the red wine float but ended up to be too sour as well, so that was a bit of a miss. A sour is sour but not like lemon juice sour - there needs to be a delicate balance of sweetness to make it more easily enjoyable. Service was excellent - the manager of the restaurant invited us to check out the kitchen near the end of the dinner service and the staff were friendly and we got to see what is behind the scenes. It is nowhere near a Michelin star staged kitchen, which is great since it shows the authenticity behind the delicious food being served up. At the end, we concluded with chai on the house which is a nice gesture and finish to the meal. It's great that the chai was not too sweet, my preferred sweetness level. Overall, food was excellent but the drinks were innovative yet a bit too sour. Service is fantastic and in line with Michelin guide rated restaurants, and the overall experience is fairly memorable.
