Visited Addah for their dine out menu and it was a great tasting menu of the cuisine. The interior is super cozy and some of the areas feel like visiting someone's home rather than a restaurant. The staff were also super nice and friendly. They were very good about explaining each dish and its role in the culture. The actual food was mostly good. I personally didn't appreciate how spicy some of the dishes were but I do understand that it needs to be like that to be authentic. Some of the dishes were also very odd, which made for an interesting experience of trying new things. It wasn't my favourite but fun to try.

Did the Dine Out Vancouver. Addah is food from the region of Himalayan, notably Bhutan. The restaurant is located in Chinatown surrounded by Michelin Stars like Barbara, Kissa Tanto and St Lawrence. Addah's has modern furnishings with a sense of humility and found objects. Photos along the entry stair corridor opens a window to Himalayan culture and its people. We were very curious of the restaurant. Given the neighborhood, we opted for lunch over dinner. For lunch we had the 5 courses Dine Out special. Never had Yak before. Nor Grass fed Yak from Okanagan. Both the appetizer and main had Yak. Super delicious. Very delightful dining experience. Exotic and ethnic taste without having any flair for the dramatic. To me this is a good thing, affording the locals this unusual experience. The main which is hand cut noodles in a yak bone marrow broth with plenty chunks of veggies and yak meat, was extraordinary tasty. Our server was genuinely gracious and inviting. Overall it was surprisingly positive experience without gouging prices. I would come again.

I have always wanted to try this restaurant that offers Himalayan food. Having never experienced Himalayan cuisine before, the Dine Out Vancouver festival provides me with the perfect opportunity. The restaurant's menu has caught my eye, offering a 7-course meal for CAD55.00 - a fantastic deal! First course Lafing: steamed cold noodle stuffed with spicy mix of nuts, house chilli oil and green onion _ The stuffed mixed nuts with chili were spicy, a tad salty, but delicious. The noodles were perfect, striking a balance between not too soft and not too hard. It made for a great dish to start Second course Yak Momo: Sikkimese style yak meat dumpling with feta chilli -This was an excellent dish. It was distinctly not Chinese-style; rather, it embodied the Himalayan style of dumplings. The stuffing had a flavor reminiscent of South East Asian cuisine. I really loved this dish. Third course Phaksa paa: Bhutanese style pork, chilli and vegetable stew served with house bread -The pork was exceptionally tender, the sauce had a spicy kick, and I could detect a hint of curry spice, perhaps? The bread was dense, chewy, and exceptionally good. This, too, was another great dish. Fourth course Choila: Nepali style hay smoked duck mixed with fire roasted tomato, charred chilli, mustard oil and spices served with house pickle and flattened rice -Chopped duck encased in a roasted tomato - a unique and intriguing dish. The puffed rice added a crispy and light texture, reminiscent of rice crispy without additional ingredients. A very different and interesting culinary experience Fifth course Sanga bhaley: classic Tibetan layered pastry -This layered pastry was similar to phyllo, but it was more crispy and lighter. Very good. Sixth course Bho cha: Himalayan churned butter tea - I had never tried butter tea before. It had a very thick, melted butter flavor within the tea. I believe that people living at higher elevations may require such a rich and thick beverage to sustain themselves physically. It was an ancient food , and I truly enjoyed the experience. Seventh course: Till ko laddu: Nepali style sweet sesame balls -Strawberry-flavored granita tastes really good! It says 'Sesame ball,' but actually, it's a sesame thin bar--crunchy, sweet sesame goodness. An excellent dessert to finish. It was an excellent dinner. The prices were very reasonable, and the service was excellent. The server explained all the dish details, and the ambience was pleasant. I can't wait for my next visit. I will definitely go back

Amazing time at Addah for Dine Out Vancouver 2024; $55 dinner for 7 course dinner! First time dining at Addah and the staff bringing out the food shared their knowledge about the history and ingredients that celebrates Himalayan culture. The space is beautiful! First course Lafing: steamed cold noodle stuffed with spicy mix of nuts, house chilli oil and green onion Second course Yak Momo: Sikkimese style yak meat dumpling with feta chilli Third course Phaksa paa: Bhutanese style pork, chilli and vegetable stew served with house bread Fourth course Choila: Nepali style hay smoked duck mixed with fire roasted tomato, charred chilli, mustard oil and spices served with house pickle and flattened rice Fifth course Sanga bhaley: classic Tibetan layered pastry Sixth course Bho cha: Himalayan churned butter tea Seventh course: Till ko laddu: Nepali style sweet sesame balls We were so full by 4-5 course but we couldn't say no to desserts! Come hungry. You won't be disappointed.

Girls Night at Addah in Vancouver. The place was quiet since it was a week day. Staff was attentive and helped with questions with the menu. Ordered the Aloo Chew- Ra, Short ribs and seafood flat bread and the Chicken Tarkari plate. Food was fresh, the Chicken and Dal were so home-ly and the Flatbread was stuffed with sooooo many toppings. They also do Yak recipes and the special for the night was a Yak pie. (Did not order, will try for next time!)

Can't recommend this place enough. Such a unique and warm experience. Food is so delicious. Service is genuine and charming. The waitress explained the authenticity of the dishes to us, as well as how and where they've supplied their ingredients, including local farmers markets and Yak farms in Salmon Arm. The biggest drawback is that the food seems to take awhile to come to the table. So be prepared for the wait. But otherwise I would say worth the wait. As of writing this the restaurant is fairly new, but I'm certain at some point it will be a huge hit in Vancouver. Take your friends and family!

One line review: Nice place for a celebration at a premium price. We went here because friends visiting from out of town had somehow located it and wanted to celebrate a birthday there. I'm not sure how they found it as it is a new spot. The inside was cute but virtually barren at 6pm when I arrived; it was NOT hard to find my party. When we left around 8pm, it was starting to hop. The live music was about to start, and people were streaming in (looked like they had a cover, but it didn't affect us because we were already there for dinner). My party had already ordered: - Lobster flatbread (tasty, though as is often the case with flatbread, a waste of seafood) - Pork chop (This was thick, juicy, and a good portion. Sides were good as well). - Others had the duck and pheasant/sausage entrees. Everything looked beautiful and as if intended for more of a fine dining experience. The prices matched that expectation. It was good, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a good value. Service was excellent, personable. They even brought out a special birthday dessert, which was lovely. I was, however, surprised to find an extra charge on our bill ($12, I think). Whether it was because there was no entree for me (my wife and I split the flatbread, which was an appetizer, and the pork chop dinner) or for the dessert (which, frankly, we had not ordered), I was disappointed. But it wasn't enough to ruin what was otherwise a nice evening. Parking is at meters on street but relatively reasonable ($2/hour). Bottom line: Good enough to try again, but this should be considered a nice night out -- not a casual date or drop in.

Tasting platter - larger than expected

I'm new to Himalayan food, and the staff said they take inspiration from the 6 original kingdoms of the Himalayas, and their traditional cuisines. Had a tasting platter and pork chop for dinner. Portions were larger than I expected and for two people we left very full. The fresh breads and home made sausages were stand outs for us. The restaurant was not busy at all on a Friday night. It's a big room and there was only one other table seated. This seemed unreasonable given how good the food was. This place deserves more credit!

True, authentic Himalayan cuisine. While most "Himalayans/Nepalese" restaurants I had been before were basically Indian restaurants, Addah focuses on original regional delicacies. Tip of the hat to the terrific chef for promoting his native cuisine and resisting the Indian drift. Highly recommended!

We came here for a Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations!…read moreHats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP!

The setting is cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Staff was lovely and we were not rushed. Unfortunately they require full payment at the time of booking including a tip % automatically applied. I find this quite distasteful. It is one thing to pay a deposit to secure our spot ....but asking for the tip for a service yet to be provided is terrible. My friend really wanted to go and therefore I agreed to it this one time but I would never do it again.

We sat indoors with the option to be seated outdoors with heated lamps but we didn't want to smell the smoke from people smoking outside. We ordered the Dark Spell Latte, Albedo Spritz, and Final Word. The Dark Spell Latte is like an espresso martini with chocolate syrup added, which is pretty solid. The Albedo Spritz is a red wine cocktail with hard liquor, and stood out to me as they had 5oz of alcohol so this was fairly strong, but I would imagine most of the ounces came from the wine itself. I liked the gold dusted blackberry. The Final Word is fruity and smoky, which I enjoyed, but not warrant a hefty price tag compared to the other drinks. Service is decent and in line with other restaurant bars. Overall, solid drinks at okay prices that I can see myself recommending this spot. Given the name, it would be great to see more alchemy themed cocktails or decor as what draws me as a frequent bar goer is themed and unique drinks.
