Food is good. We tried vegetarian chow mein - it was great. Staff is humble and made some good recommendations. I would go back again.

If you're not sure what Himalayan food is, just think about Northern India. While there are…read moredefinitely some Tibetan items on the menu, if you're familiar with Indian restaurants you will feel right at home here, with items like papads, naan bread, and raita. We purposely tried to order items we wouldn't find at most Indian restaurants, and we were very impressed. I had the Nepali Bhojan (Traditional Plate) with chicken at spice level 4 of 6, and it was perfect. The chicken was interestingly spiced and sauced, and the plate came with a delicious potato and spinach dish, rice, soup, raita, yogurt, naan, and papad. The star, though was my companion's Creamy Chicken Curry, a rich, tomato-based generous helping at spice level 3. It came with rice and soup. This will be my go-to next time. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere of the intimate space is nice.

But if you claim to be a Nepali restaurant how can you make Thupka so wrong. The broth was pretty dead. The momo were also very average. I am sure a restaurant doesn't have a 4.5+ rating by accident so my best guess is that food quality may have declined in recent years. On the contrary the service is really top notch. Well greeted and well care for. The problem is in the kitchen. Please review the cuisine. If there's a place which upholds high standard of Nepali food in Pacific Northwest - that is Indian-Nepali kitchen in Seattle area.

If you don't have a favorite yet, try the sampler - I liked them all but my dining companions were sold on the sweet chili sauce ones. Honestly, even a tray of plain ones are scrumptious. Nepalese food is a cross between Indian and Chinese with some Eastern European thrown in for good measure. We got a few dishes and some naan, and it was worth every minute of waiting. The service is a little slow, but very friendly. We got Sherpa Chicken and a beef dish whose name fails me, but it's tasty enough that I'd get it again. We also got noodles with paneer and I'm a sucker for noodles, so probably not fair for me to comment, but they were so tasty. It feels a bit cafeteria-like, as it's in a brightly lit place in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. Is it the MOST authentic, probably not. But it's cheap, the portions are huge and it's an overall pleasant experience. I would go back for momo alone.

The chicken momo is delicious and filled with chicken unlike some places that reduce the filling. The pani puri puris weren't that crispy but I think that was because I ordered for delivery and it got a bit cold. The potato filling it comes with was ok. Chicken biryani was a huge portion, enough for 3-4 meals. A little too spicy for me (got mild-medium). The chowmein I got was vegetarian and I wished it had a bit more vegetables. Again, large portion; enough for 2-3 meals. Definitely will go back for momos.

READ ITS INTERESTING REVIEW-:…read more I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for over 4 years, and what happened today was completely unacceptable and extremely disappointing. One of the owners, Mr. Bishnu, knows me very well since I've been coming here regularly for years. A few months ago, when I tried to order a plate of noodles, I was told the wait time would be 40 minutes, so I cancelled the order. After about an hour, I called back thinking the wait might be shorter, but I was told it would now take 50 minutes. I still agreed to wait and picked up the order. At that time, I left a 1-star review because of the excessive wait time, but later I realized it might have been harsh and I deleted the review. However, what happened today completely changed my perception of this place. I went there to refer a friend for a job, because Mr. Bishnu himself had previously asked me to bring her. Instead of a normal conversation, he confronted me about that old review. During the conversation he said that if I "behave like this" I will not be welcomed at the restaurant anymore -- simply because I once left a review about slow service. The attitude was extremely egoistic and disrespectful. Even when I calmly tried to explain that this is not the way you treat a customer who has been supporting your business for years, his response was shocking. His exact words were essentially: "It's fine if you don't come. It won't make any difference to my restaurant. Even Mr Bishnu used a word " I don't care and F*ck about people" Imagine telling that to someone who has been coming here for 4 years, recommending the place to friends, and bringing new customers who also continued coming. This kind of arrogance toward loyal customers is unbelievable. A business should value feedback and long-time customers, not threaten them or dismiss them because of one honest review about service delays. After today's experience, I honestly feel disrespected and unwelcome, and I would strongly suggest other customers think twice before supporting a place where customer loyalty clearly means nothing. Mr Bishnu you lost a loyal customer to SPICE OF NEPAL & KATHMANDU BAR AND GRILLfor sure. If there are lot of other customers for you , there are lot of other restaurants around. YOU KEEP YOUR EGO, I WILL KEEP MY SELF RESPECT

We were staying at the Marriott around the corner and the reviews were solid and since both Canada (and Vancouver) and India were once British colonies, we figured Mount Everest Kitchen & Grill had to provide a good representation of Indian fare by proxy, right? And it sure was. All four of us were so happy with everything we ordered. I ordered the set menu with mutton curry, rice, daal, raita and some veggies. I love full-flavored things and I love mutton (older lamb) and you can't find it at most places. This curry was amazing. The wife and Son of Tiki Dave ordered Chicken Tika Masala and Chicken Tandoori. The girl ordered Chicken Teriyaki. WHAT?? But she loved it. Ambience was lovely; service was excellent. We also ordered two orders of Garlic Naan which was probably too much but delicious. We had LOTS of leftovers and dang it, I made certain to finish them off and did on the way to the airport the next day! However it is not focused and instead provides a little bit of the region for everyone (Nepal, China, India, Pakistani influences). Came in for lunch on a weekday. Quickly seated and tended to by the staff. Interior is more of a diner scene than nice cafe. Bathrooms are gender neutral and clean but not nice. Here's my three things: 1) I got a lunch special featuring fish peckora, and tandoor chicken. Good flavor but missed on the real spice flavors. Veg salad was sour and worked with the rest of the plate. 2) These folks can make some NAAN! The Naan stole the show. Sweet, salty and crisp. 3) Price wise you can fill up and have a drink for $25-30CAN.

They were very good about explaining each dish and its role in the culture. The actual food was mostly good. The dine out menu consisted of seven courses - four of which included chilli . My favourite was the Phaksaa Paa - Bhutanese style pork, chilli and vegetable stew, served with house bread. Oh my goodness the pork was so so so so so tender and flavourful. It just melted in my mouth. I was so happy. The Bho Cha, Himalayan churned butter tea, was a great finish to the meal! It was a hot and savoury tea and I enjoyed sipping on it at the end of the meal. I also highly recommend trying the cocktails as they were super yummy! We ordered a Thenthuk, tumeric infused hand-cut noodle in marrow broth with AAA beef for the toddler. He ate it so fast we had to find ways to entertain him the rest of the meal. Can't wait to come back to try the regular menu items! There's simply so many choices. The service that night was very very slow. The entire dinner took about 3 hours, despite us telling the staff that with our young toddler, we cannot dine for that long. There was also a bit of mix up with the order of the dishes as they tried to serve us a dish we already have, and skipped one that we didn't have yet. Hopefully, that's been improved since then and it was just a one-time thing due to how busy the dine out night was!
