Tandoori Lunch Plate ($13)
Jordan N.

I was in Surrey one Sunday afternoon and had heard that Surrey has some of the best Indian food in the Vancouver area. I found that this place was pretty popular so I decided to come here and try out the lunch menu. I was allowed to choose off either menu, which was nice since the lunch menu was smaller than the supper menu. I asked for what the server recommended for lunch, and they didn't really give a straight answer. I ended up ordering off the lunch menu what item looked the most unique. I decided to get the Tandoori Lunch Plate ($13) which was an absolutely great deal. Maybe because I get most of my food near downtown Vancouver I've grown to expect higher prices. I was super surprised how much food I got for a lunch item: 5 pieces of chicken, a side of sweet potatoes & spices, two large pieces of naan, and a crazy amount of rice. The rice was pretty bland, but the rest of the items were on point, especially the sweet potatoes which were seasoned super well. I couldn't finish all the rice and naan though, so I would've been happier if they gave more chicken or potatoes instead. I read an earlier review saying that they experienced odd service similar to me. The waiters didn't smile, brought out food without saying anything, and the machine didn't even ask for a tip. I propose maybe increase the prices of the meals to pay the servers a bit more haha. Either way, the large portion of food kept me happy for the rest of the day.

Chicken Tikka

This restaurant has very good lunch specials from 11am-3pm (every day). The price is reasonable and the food tastes great. The lunch special comes with your choice of a main dish. You can choose from any of the chicken, lamb, shrimp or veggie dishes as your main dish. This special comes with rice, naan, vegetable of the day and raita (indian yogurt). As an appetizer we tried the chicken tikka which came out sizzling hot. It was delicious and my favourite part of the meal.  Along with the sautéed vegetables and the green chutney - the chicken was done just right and the flavours meshed together perfectly. As our main, we opted to try the butter chicken and also the chili chicken. The butter chicken was delicious and the creamy goodness could be tasted in every bite. The chicken was not overly done and did not taste old. The spices in the sauce were just right not too over powering or overly bland. The vegetable of the day was cauliflower and potatoes. The chili chicken was delicious as well, not too spicy. I preferred the butter chicken over the chili chicken personally.  The naan, rice, and raita complimented the meal nicely as well. The restaurant is really nice inside with a modern decor. The service is okay, the server was courteous and attentive. I would highly recommend this place if you haven't tried it out before.

I couldn't wait to dig in first :)

What a gem! Great place to eat! Beautiful atmosphere and the food was delicious! I was surprised when we walked in because I felt a bit under dressed. Service was wonderful, I was bummed I couldn't take home leftovers (since we were heading across the boarder).

Large, fresh and crispy samosas and channa! $7, excellent value!

We've been craving Indian cuisine lately, and after spending the day around Burnaby and New…read moreWestminster, we decided to finally check out Tasty Planet Indian Cuisine -- a spot we've driven by many times! Here's what we ordered and loved: Chilli Chicken - Deep-fried boneless chicken cooked with ginger and green peppers. It's like Chinese sweet and sour chicken but with a delicious spicy kick! Chana Puri - Two HUGE deep-fried wheat breads served with chickpeas, pickle, and salad. The chickpeas were so flavourful, and the puri was light and crispy. This is a must-order! Chicken Tikka Masala - Grilled chicken in a creamy, tomato-based sauce. Perfectly balanced and so comforting. Lamb Korma - Boneless lamb cooked in a rich white cashew nut sauce. The lamb was tender and full of flavour -- we loved the spice balance! Garlic Naan - Soft, perfectly cooked (not burnt!), and great texture. A must-have pairing with any curry. Every dish was so tasty that it was hard to pick a single winner of the night -- but if we had to choose, the Chana Puri and Lamb Korma were our top picks! The menu offers a great mix of classic favourites and unique regional dishes. Everything tasted authentic, fresh, and made with care. Tasty Planet is a small, casual restaurant located in a plaza at 6th Street & 10th Avenue (Highway 1A) -- right on the Burnaby/New Westminster boundary. It's a cozy spot, perfect for casual dining or takeout. We'll definitely be back -- or maybe we'll check out their other location on Fraser Street next time! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 2/5 A-OK for kids. (There are non-spicy foods available.) Presentation: 2/5 Parking: 1/5 (limited spots in front of the restaurant, but free street parking is available). Tips: * Can adjust the spice level. * Curry dishes come with free basmati rice. * Has over 120+ dishes to choose from. * Great for takeout and has a dine-in option. Would I Return: Yes ‍

The owner Naz was very warm and hospitable. He went around checking on customers and us very often…read moreand thanked us for coming when we were waiting to pay our bill. We were a big group of 12 including infant and toddler and they managed everything beautifully. Another big group of 10+ came in when we were leaving around 9+ pm. The place was not huge but they can do big groups. Reservations recommended. This was my second time trying East African/Indian food. I still didn't know much about it. R and I shared a choma (grilled) platter which had 3 types of meat, choice of carbs and raw vegs. The server recommended Chicken Serena which was grilled chicken with some sauce and herbs. This was my favorite dish. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The other two meats were the beef ribs (pretty good) and Mishkaki (skewer beef - a bit dry and hard). I love the masala potatoes which was the best thing on the platter. The raw vegs looked like coleslaw without any sauce. It was just a dab of sauce on the side. Not enough for the shredded vegs. I also had the masala chai which was very weak and very bland. Skip this tea. R tried the on tap beer - Baadshah Pilsner - a south Asian craft beer produced by Magic Malt Brewing in Langley. Interesting. Good to try for $5. There was also live music. It can get quite loud when they were singing. Nice patio out front and parking on street and in their lot.
