I'm giving this 5 stars why not. I am not Indian but I do love my Indian food. This place is comparable to Indian restaurants both in Surrey and Vancouver. It can even be better! The service is fast and polite. The place is clean. The food is very tasty. I think the combination of spices for each dishes we ordered are on point. There were 2 Tv's hanging on the walls. Other people might find this annoying but not me. I thought it would be nice to watch hockey or other sports in a place other than a sports bar. The TVs didnt bother me at all. I am really glad that the food scene in Burnaby and New Westminster is improving (I live in Burnaby). I don't have to drive far for good Indian food. This place is highly recommended.

We ordered the mango butter chicken, garlic naan and pualo rice for takeout. The food was really good with big portions and affordable prices! We had leftovers for a second meal - the mango butter chicken is very similar to the normal butter chicken. More on my blog: https://sincerelyloewe.com/indian-bombay-bistro/

**TAKEOUT REVIEW** It was NYE and the hubs and I decided to just have a quiet night at home. We ordered take out from this place at 4:41pm and was told 35mins for the order to be ready. We picked up at 5:21pm and it was ready for us. There was no one dining in the restaurant area, but at least 6-8 customers ordering takeout. The decor appears to be modern and inside appears clean. Payment process was fast (Credit cards were accepted) Now, the food: - Chicken Tikka Masala ($15): surprisingly a lot more protein and other ingredients than comparable restaurants. The substance:sauce ratio is almost 2:1. - Fish Pakora ($11): more fish, less batter, more flavourful but less pieces than comparable restaurants. The chutney was flavourful. - Lamb Biryani ($17): again, surprisingly a lot of lamb without bones, meaty. The substance:rice ratio is almost 0.5:1. - Naan ($2): The naan was ok. As expected. Kind of expensive as we only got 2 pieces. Overall, great takeout experience. Would come back to try other menu items again.

An unexpected dinner detour took us to Indian Bombay Bistro. Located in this small and quaint area of Burnaby, the restaurant sits in a relatively quiet neighbourhood. The inside is spacious so there's no real concern of feeling squished at all -- a plus of living in the suburbs. Good selection of food here but I went for my favourite chicken biryani dish, a classic staple whenever I go out. The portion is not as cheap as places in Surrey but the size of the meal was enough for dinner plus a little extra leftovers for the next day. Servers were also very nice and attentive and I appreciated the fact that they let us take our time. Overall, good place to go to if you're in the area. The convenience of good Indian food without having to travel too far can never be underestimated.

I'm a regular at the Indian bombay bistro i went there to get something to eat it was early in the morning they just opened i went in and told the waitress I wanted to wait for a little bit before I had something to eat she said okay and so I went to the washroom and a little later the waitress told me to go clean the toilet because she told me I made it dirty i couldn't believe she would ask me to clean up the toilet but when I went in to clean it up I found a needle in the sink and a condom on the ground it was disgusting so I cleaned it up and I went back and ordered my food but before I could finish eating it they told me that my table was reserved already and my time was up and I had to leave so I got a little upset because they didn't warn me ahead of time so I told them I wanted to speak to the manager and they kept ignoring me so I finally left and I didn't my food it was a very bad experience I would never go back there again.

$4.95 Salty Lassi was delicious 5/5. For Indian Breads: $4.50 Chicken Nann 4.5/5 - Pizza like quality $3.95 Alu Paratha 4.5/5 $4.50 Spinach Naan 4/5 - spanakopita quality Not sure if it's because it was gorgeous and sunny out, but I recommend dressing warm as the air conditioner was cranked to the max.

When we first saw the restaurant, it looked like a new building, but once inside you could tell that the place has been there for a number of years. They must have upgraded the exterior from the looks of it. We were greeted by a pleasant waitress. We recieved our food shortly after we placed our order. We started off with the Vegetarian Pakoras. It was a tasty appetizer with accompanied tamarind sauce. We shared the Indian Bombay Bistro Dinner. This included Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Lamb Kebab, and a choice of Curry Chicken or Dal (yellow lentils) and includes naan. It sufficiently fed us both. It was delicious and ample enough meat. We did order some roti too as my other half prefers that over naan.

Channa masala (left), prawn vindaloo (right), palau rice, naan.

Living in New Westminster you really only have a few choices for Indian and none of them are particularly good for one who grew up across the bridge in Surrey, a veritable Mecca of Indian food. So yesterday, when I was driving down Sixth and spotted Indian Bombay Bistro, I called DH and told him dinner was cancelled, we were going out! The ambiance is what hits you first. It's a brand new building and a stunning restaurant with bright splashes of colour against dark laminate wood fixtures. Modern decor paired with comfortable booths. The only thing that didn't work for me was the TVs, which cheapened the decor - but then I have a thing against TVs in nice restaurants. Leave them for the sports bars, please. Then you get hit with the attentive and friendly service. Our beers were delivered promptly, and with a smile, as were the glasses of water we requested. We were seemingly being cared for by multiple team members - not just one waitress. This was never really messy and came off pretty seemless. Total time in the restaurant was under an hour for two who weren't on a social occasion. Finally, and the most important, is the menu. Indian Bombay Bistro has done a great job of bringing together several of the old favourites with some exciting and equally delicious new ones. For our first venture, we selected the Chicken Malai and the Eggplant Bharta, the Rice Palau, and a few naan (garlic and plain), The Chicken Malai was out of this world good. A new dish for us, it was as if Thai Curry got with Indian Korma at a bar one night and a star was born. The coconut cream was delicious, and the texture was amplified with the finely (grated?) onions that gave the sauce incredible body. I truly loved this dish. The Eggplant Bharta was also very good. It had better body than some of the other ones I've tasted and was well-seasoned. The Naan and Rice Palau were both very good, and I'd say better than the competition in the area. Both dishes had the character of being very well prepared. The spices were cooked properly and as such, blended together into a very flavourful, but not raw flavour. The plating and presentation, also equally good. This has turned into an very long review for this new restaurant (which I suspect will be booming in no time), but I hope it gives you an idea of what to expect. The only criticism is it was slightly more expensive than their Surrey counterparts, but I think they can charge it, given the quality and the competition! Note: I will go a few more times before I give it a solid five, but I suspect it will get there.

We were a big group of 12 including infant and toddler and they managed everything beautifully. Another big group of 10+ came in when we were leaving around 9+ pm. The place was not huge but they can do big groups. Reservations recommended. This was my second time trying East African/Indian food. I still didn't know much about it. R and I shared a choma (grilled) platter which had 3 types of meat, choice of carbs and raw vegs. The server recommended Chicken Serena which was grilled chicken with some sauce and herbs. This was my favorite dish. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The other two meats were the beef ribs (pretty good) and Mishkaki (skewer beef - a bit dry and hard). I love the masala potatoes which was the best thing on the platter. The raw vegs looked like coleslaw without any sauce. It was just a dab of sauce on the side. Not enough for the shredded vegs. I also had the masala chai which was very weak and very bland. Skip this tea. R tried the on tap beer - Baadshah Pilsner - a south Asian craft beer produced by Magic Malt Brewing in Langley. Interesting. Good to try for $5. There was also live music. It can get quite loud when they were singing. Nice patio out front and parking on street and in their lot.

Downloaded it, filled in my info to sign up. It didn't work. Tried again - same results. Ordered via Uber Eats. (2)My go-to is Chicken Tikka - no onions. I clicked on the Allergy tab for onions, however when it arrived my Chicken Tikka was COVERED with them!! it said 3 times on the receipt NO Onions /Allergy. This was completely ignored ! Despite scraping them all off and smothering a piece in Raita, my tongue is still tingling and swollen. (3)The Naan Bread was so dry, thin and over cooked it was the consistency of a burnt cracker. I tried soaking it in some water between paper towels and microwaving it, but it was so thin in many places it snapped. I'm used to Naan being thick and soft with some blackened edges. I like to put my chicken inside with Raita and eat it like a pita wrap. Not with this stuff ! (4)Nowhere on the website or Uber app does it say that the Butter Chicken comes with rice. So I order a side of rice for my husband. 3 containers of rice show up. Had I known it was already included (most places will tell you ) I would have saved the 6$. He didn't need 3 containers. (6)The free dish included when you spend 40$ was Papri Chaat . It was something I never heard of, but sounded good. I'm Sure it would have been if the wafers (Papri) wasn't It was completely soggy. (7) I also told them no Chutney as it would go to waste. They sent 3 containers .... The Good- It was quick from order to delivery. The Raita was delicious. Butter Chicken was enjoyed by my Husband. The flavour of the Chicken Tikka once all the onions were scraped off. Had they substituted cabbage for the onions it would've been really good. Thankfully Uber refunded me the 20$ for the Chicken. This wasn't a dislike - it was a safety issue For nearly 70$ this is unacceptable. *See photos

Here's what we ordered and loved: Chilli Chicken - Deep-fried boneless chicken cooked with ginger and green peppers. It's like Chinese sweet and sour chicken but with a delicious spicy kick! Chana Puri - Two HUGE deep-fried wheat breads served with chickpeas, pickle, and salad. The chickpeas were so flavourful, and the puri was light and crispy. This is a must-order! Chicken Tikka Masala - Grilled chicken in a creamy, tomato-based sauce. Perfectly balanced and so comforting. Lamb Korma - Boneless lamb cooked in a rich white cashew nut sauce. The lamb was tender and full of flavour -- we loved the spice balance! Garlic Naan - Soft, perfectly cooked (not burnt!), and great texture. A must-have pairing with any curry. Every dish was so tasty that it was hard to pick a single winner of the night -- but if we had to choose, the Chana Puri and Lamb Korma were our top picks! The menu offers a great mix of classic favourites and unique regional dishes. Everything tasted authentic, fresh, and made with care. Tasty Planet is a small, casual restaurant located in a plaza at 6th Street & 10th Avenue (Highway 1A) -- right on the Burnaby/New Westminster boundary. It's a cozy spot, perfect for casual dining or takeout. We'll definitely be back -- or maybe we'll check out their other location on Fraser Street next time! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 2/5 A-OK for kids. (There are non-spicy foods available.) Presentation: 2/5 Parking: 1/5 (limited spots in front of the restaurant, but free street parking is available). Tips: * Can adjust the spice level. * Curry dishes come with free basmati rice. * Has over 120+ dishes to choose from. * Great for takeout and has a dine-in option. Would I Return: Yes ‍
