We had reservations, were greeted and seated immediately. We decided to share tapas to allow the opportunity to sample a wider variety of dishes. Happy hour menu provided a great opportunity at a reasonable price. We order hummus and peta bread, olives with almonds and a couple of church music IPAs. The beers and olives arrived in a few minutes and the hummus about ten minutes later. Loved the red pepper flavor of the hummus. Beers were cold and refreshing. Next we decided to try the honey saffron and sumac Socca. It was unique and delicious. The ingredients truly complement each other, with the sumac bring a tart flavor to the honey saffron. We also tried the crispy eggplant with tzatziki sauce which was a standout, one of the best bite of the evening. Our last two dishes we selected were the K4 meatballs with parmigiana in a wine sauce and the grilled octopus. The octopus was okay but not as good as it was last time, too many white beans and octopus texture was off. The meatballs were excellent with bold flavors. The atmosphere was quiet initially but the restaurant filled up and got busy about 15 minutes later. Love the open kitchen and eclectic decor. Our server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for a unique dining experience before a show downtown! Enjoy!

My husband and I came here for lunch on Valentine's Day and it was fantastic! We were seated outside on the patio, it was lovely as the weather was perfect. They had many plants and trees including a lemon and grapefruit tree! We ordered a variety dishes to share like the beef tartare with squid ink milk bread, Japanese sweet potato, Spanish octopus, golden beets and roasted cauliflower. I was impressed with everything. You can taste the quality in each ingredient and I appreciate that. My husband and I agreed that the Spanish octopus was our favorite dish. It was the best octopus I've had in a while, the char flavor and slight crisp was amazing. We enjoyed the creamy sauce, artichokes, and other veggies that came with this dish. The cauliflower and golden beets were incredible too. The chef told us that the Japanese sweet potato was one of the popular dishes, but out of everything we ordered, it was surprisingly my least favorite. It was still good but everything else tasted better to me. Pa'La is a bit pricey but the quality makes up for it. I would recommend this place for people who are visiting or for a date night!

I have never had an artichoke appetizer like this before - the artichoke was lightly fried with chips, chimichurri sauce and buttermilk - the texture was meaty and the flavor was creamy with a refreshing kick. We dined here as a party of four on a Sunday evening (the first guests seated at 5:00 p.m.). Given…read morethe glowing reviews, beautiful Instagram presence, and higher price point, we walked in with high expectations. Three of the four of us cook regularly and host dinners, so we all pay attention to food, service, and the overall dining experience--though we each have very different tastes. Interestingly, we all left with about the same impression. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The décor is warm, inviting, and immediately makes you feel like you're in for something special. Our server was attentive throughout the meal, although there were a few service hiccups that affected the experience. We started with cocktails. All of them were good, but each seemed just slightly out of balance. I ordered the OG Margarita on our server's recommendation, and while I'm admittedly picky about margaritas, this one was noticeably too sweet. The seasonal menu sounded exciting, especially since they emphasize using fresh, in-season ingredients. Our server insisted on us trying the Tomato Board. At $40, which was the most expensive appetizer on the menu, we expected something very memorable. It featured several varieties of tomatoes (including a surprisingly delicious pickled green tomato), a light and airy whipped mozzarella, and a single long piece of focaccia. Everything tasted fresh, and the whipped mozzarella was the standout--we'd never had anything quite like it. Unfortunately, with only one piece of bread, we had to order another just so everyone could enjoy it. Good? Absolutely. Worth $40? None of us thought so. We also ordered the escargot, which was delicious, though it's hard to describe five pieces as "family style." For our entrees, we ordered the burger, the sausage with potato latke, and what we thought was the lamb and mussels special. At first we were going to order the pork belly noodles instead of the sausage, but our server thought it would be too many noodle dishes, so we happily took his recommendation to get the sausage. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication, and the pork belly noodles were brought instead of the special we were most excited to try. When we pointed it out, he acknowledged the mistake but he wasn't quick to offer a resolution, which left us in an awkward spot where we just decided to keep it. Ironically, the pork belly noodles ended up being our least favorite dish. The pork belly was overly chewy and quite salty, while the noodles were bland and seemed just slightly undercooked. The fresh mint was a nice touch, but it wasn't enough to save the dish. The sausage with potato latke, yogurt sauce, and pickled red cabbage was surprisingly excellent. The flavors were balanced, the portion size was generous, and it ended up being one of our favorites. The true star of the evening, though, was the burger. We split it four ways, and every single one of us commented on how good it was. Perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, topped with melty Gorgonzola and a vanilla bean jam that married beautifully together. We used every last bite of the warm bun to soak up what was left. Overall, we'd give the food about a 7/10. Here's what took an otherwise 4/5 star experience down to a 3. The air conditioning wasn't working on a 115-degree day. But I'm not lowering my rating because mechanical issues happen. At first it wasn't noticeable because it was still cooler than outside, but as dinner went on we were all visibly uncomfortable, passing around my hand fan. Only then did our server mention that the A/C had been out. You come here for an experience and if you know upfront a patrons experience will be affected you are under obligation to tell them but no one mentioned it when we arrived or made any effort to acknowledge the inconvenience or tried to make up for our discomfort in any way. Persephen clearly has talent in the kitchen and a beautiful space, but when you position yourself as a premium dining experience, every detail matters. We enjoyed parts of the meal, especially the burger, but overall the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. For us, 3 out of 5 stars feels like a fair rating.

Excellent service, a Christmas tree upstairs, and no reservations required. Glad they were able to seat us considering we showed up without reservations. Downstairs gets quickly reserved so seats upstairs are where they push overflow patrons. Right outside Flint's doors downstairs there is a staircase which opens up to the upstairs dining area. Service was prompt, and we got our drinks by the time we had our mains decided. I got a glass of red to pair with my steak. My partner had a refreshing cocktail, but it was decent. The highlights of the night were the food. SO MUCH FOOD! And it was TERRIFIC! For starters we got the artichoke hummus. It sounded a bit weird, but all it was was regular hummus with 4 artichoke hearts that were crispy. The artichoke hearts were crisp, but moist, and I could have kept eating those all day. It comes with 1 pita bread. The server told us to order another and we did, turns out we needed it as the pita breads were quite small ($3 +). Sure only 3 bucks, but nickel and dime if you are spending $14 on an app... For mains I got the filet medium rare with a side of regular potatoes. My partner got the salmon skewer with a side of asparagus. Both the dishes were cooked perfectly and they were familiar dishes with a slightly exotic touch to it. Must be the middle eastern part of the restaurant. The steak came with a ganache or accompaniments of middle eastern sides. Can't recall what they were but they were great when I dipped my potatoes in them. It was sour, tart, acidic, kind of like middle eastern soy sauce. The server recommended it to us and we got it. The salmon skewer came with 5 decent sized pieces on it. Great for a small eater or someone who doesn't want their own meal. It too was delicious and had light touches of sauce or smoke on it. The asparagus is a favorite. It was cooked as usual, typical steak side and both me and my partner enjoyed it! For dessert, as it was my partners birthday the server comped the pound cake. While it was delicious, it was definitely the letdown of the meal. It was way too sweet including the layer of cream that it was doused with. The sweat cream wasn't necessary as the pound cake was incredibly sweet itself. Also, the pound cake wasn't soft like normal cake. It was quite dry once you peeled away the creme layer up top. I definitely should have gone with the Chocolate Ganache Tart. But their mess up worked in their favor. I'm definitely coming back for another meal at Flint!

They seemed confused when I asked for whiskey listed on the menu on the rocks and had me click the buttons for them on their mobile ordering device to make sure it was right...that was strange, We ordered two apps as well which were bland- tofu and a papaya salad. We then were left alone without anyone returning for about fifteen minutes when we got the drinks and appetizers from the kitchen and bartender, who directly came over versus our server. When we placed our orders the server pushed me toward medium even though I said hot or Thai hot was more my range (I have eaten straight Thai chilis without issue in Thailand). But he insisted so I picked medium. From when we ordered to when we got the food was about 50 minutes. The food was nothing memorable and the spice tasted like chili flakes or powder versus real Thai chilis. At not point outside of the two interactions of ordering did we see our server again, and we had to flag down the hostess to get the check. It was worth asking her to split four people into two bills by order so we did a clean break. She seemed very disinterested in our table from the moment we sat, which she told us it would be tough to move us from an available high top in the sun to a lower table given how many reservations they had...I did not see anyone waiting for a table at any point but that is not relevant to my scoring here. For two drinks, four meal, and two apps this felt overpriced. The portion of meat for the entrees felt paltry and I was hungry within an hour or so. If the service wasn't so bad and the meal overall time there not 2 hours I would give it a 2.5 or 3. Either way I don't plan to come back. Phoenix has a few decent Thai or Thai adjacent spots in Lom Wong and Glai Baan.
