I ordered the spicy noodles and it's good. You do have to pay for extras if you want any meats other than ground pork and fried egg. We orders the braised beef and it's pretty good. The best way to describe this dish is Sichuan Spaghetti. I ordered extra spicy and it was only mild for me but then again I'm a Sichuan fanatic. I first saw Mian at their Santa Clara location with a long line out the door but never had a chance to stop by, so I'm glad there's now another easily accessible location. This one is located in a very busy plaza with the popular Korean restaurants a couple doors down. We came for an early dinner and were seated right away. You scan a QR code for the menu and place your order in that fashion. The food arrived fairly quickly. We shared the beef pancake roll, xlb, spicy beef noodle soup, and spicy wontons. Everything was very tasty! I wish we had more stomach space to try more dishes. They allow you to choose the spice level for certain items, but I'd say the medium spicy wasn't spicy to us at all. Then brought out the beef noodle. So I just started eating the beef noodle first. It's decent but not the type of beef noodle soup I was looking for. The meat was kind of hard and not very tender. Soup was flavorful though. Noodles were just alright too. Veggies was on point though, tasty and fresh. They finally brought my hot soy milk, maybe they made it fresh? I think maybe someone was on break because there were a lot of tables waiting for their food before we sat down but after 30 mins, all the food started rolling out LOL. We really liked the house lamb meat, spicy beef braised soup and the XLB! I thought the chili oil noodles were average, nothing special. We also got the dandan noodles but with the rice noodle, I'd recommend sticking to the regular noodles since the sauce wasn't absorbing much of the sauce. Servers were nice and quick. She asked me whether I preferred a cup or a small soup container for my hot soy milk, and also offered me hot chili sauce without me needing to ask! She was very friendly and had a really kind smile! Came by for a weekend lunch around 11:30am and no wait! Make sure you check their yelp page for waitlist and times. We ordered via the QR code at the table after the waiter explained the specialties since it was our first time. We started off with the pickled cucumber appetizer and I liked their version a lot. Crunchy, fresh, and perfectly marinated. We also had the clear beef noodle soup and spicy beef noodle soup. Good amount of proteins to noodles and broth was very flavorful. We ordered the spicy noodle soup as mild but definitely will try medium heat next time. The spicy and sour chicken dumplings were delicious! 6 dumplings were sitting in a spicy and sour broth. Again the heat level was very tolerable. Our least favorite was the chicken and corn XLB. The wrap was a bit thick and a couple split and lost their juices in the steaming process. I had a craving for spicy wonton so I checked out this newish place. The restaurant is surprisingly very large inside. The decor is Chinese paintings on wall paper, tables and chairs were made to look like bamboo, and the kitchen and eating area had the bamboo thatched look. very cute. There was a small crew working but everything was efficient. I ordered by QR code at the table, within a min or two I got my utensils, napkins, and water. And soon after the food orders. I ordered the spicy wonton, a special spicy and sweet wonton, golden noodle chicken soup, and Napa cabbage steam dumplings. All very good. I preferred the special spicy and sweet wontons over the regular spicy wontons. The special dish had a slightly sweeter taste but not too sweet, and the wrapping was thicker which I liked. The soup was surprisingly light because it looked like a curry when it first came to the table. The Napa cabbage dumplings was a nice end to the meal. The dishes before had more flavor and dense to them so it was refreshing to end of a mild dish. Overall, I think this is a great spot for noodles and dumplings. We went on a Friday evening, we went around 6 pm. The restaurant was pretty busy, the food came out quickly. The restaurant was clean and decor was nice too. The pork xiao long bao had a thin outer layer and the dumpling was juicy and full of flavor. The spicy beef noodle soup hit the spot. The broth was light and flavorful as well. A last minute craving and went to Mian very last minute. Arrived at 9:15p on a Friday night (they close at 9:30p). I was grateful the staff said no problem to place an order, although all out of XiaoLongBao (Pork) and only 1 Pan Fried Dumpling left. which is understandable at the end of the night. I got the last pan fried and it was very good. I als got the beef pancake that was ok and the Beef noodle soup that was delicious. We tried the Mian over in Santa Clara and were happy with the food. We were looking for Asian noodles for dinner and pleasantly surprised to find that there was this new location in Milpitas. We arrived around 7 to find a long line out the door - it was their Grand Opening weekend, and noodles were 50% off. It took about 30 minutes to be seated. The table spacing is not too crowded. The interior is brightly lit and open. The atmosphere is bustling but not distracting. Slightly sad to see that Layang Layang, the Malaysian restaurant that formerly occupied the space had closed - not a lot of choices for Malaysian food in Milpitas. Apparently the owner decided to retire and go home to Malaysia. But the staff stayed on, so you will see a few Malaysian noodle dishes on the menu at this location! Ordering is done by QR code. The food came out in short order. Service is efficient. The good thing about the location is that it has a large kitchen where they can steam baos. So we ordered a tray of xiao long bao. I am glad we did, because they were good. Thin skinned, but still able to hold in the copious amount of soup in the dumplings. We ordered the za jiang noodle (mild), the spicy beef noodle (mild), and the clear beef noodle. Both spicy noodle dishes were delicious, and benefited from a spoonful of their spicy chili oil. The clear beef noodle reminded me of a cloudy pho broth. The thick wheat noodles were pliant and softly chewy. Portion sizes are enough for a single adult. My favorite was the za jiang. We emptied the bowls of that and the spicy beef noodle. Even if the noodles weren't 50% off, the prices are reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more

I have to find time to actually take pictures of the food XD before I consume them. I LOVE this place. Since I discovered it I literally go there daily. I like how they open for breakfast at 8:30 am which is super rare for Chinese restaurants in the San Jose area. As most open at 11:30am. Another thing I like is their soy milk. It may not be the best I've had but it is really convenient to come to this location because it's affordable and has a close enough flavor to the soy milk in Taiwan. I love their Chengdu Zajiang noodles. I was a bit nervous because Szechuan food is normally very very spicy. However their mild is flavor but not like "heat" if that makes sense. I can go up to the second level and it's very mild. So if you're looking for the Szechuan spicy maybe there is something else on the menu for you? The price point for this specific restaurant IS SO AFFORDABLE compared to everything else right now. I think if my memory is correct the noodles were only 15$? I also had their Xiao long bao (I did take a bit to eat it but that's because I was watching YouTube) lots of soup, it was good. Their steamed egg such a simple dish to make, very rare to see restaurants make it. But I'm glad they do because it's yummy. Their Baozi prices are more affordable compared to other places. I love their napa cabbage dumplings :) I just recommend it. I recommend going during their lunch hours for faster service.
