Not sure if quality went down after they reopened but the dishes didn't hit like they did before. The XLB which I was excited to get was meh. Meat was super dry inside the XLB but the skin and the broth inside the XLB were perfect. String beans weren't great either. You could taste each pea pod and it was pretty grainy and pasty. You'll know what I mean if you get it. Spicy wontons were OK. It's a spicy peanut sauce which caught me off guard but not terrible. Spicy beef brisket noodle soup was good though! Noodles weren't soggy; there was enough broth to cover the noodles for multiple bowls, brisket was tender. Probably the only dish I enjoyed. Also, there were multiple flies flying around our table the entire meal. It was hard to eat since I had to keep shooing the flies away :(. Overall, probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back if I'm looking for XLBs. Maybe it was an off day so I'd still give it a try but only if I'm in the area. Would be open to trying their other dishes too because Din Ding was yummy years ago when I ate there. Not a lot of parking, new location though and upgraded interior!

Service is a bit slow but otherwise everything was great! Food was super yummy and the ambience was great. Definitely coming back for more dumplings!
The XLB just unfortunately is a miss. Overly thick dough, way too big, and the pork filling is lacking flavor. Quite a bummer since that's the signature dish supposedly. The rest of the dishes we ordered were alright (beef noodle, shrimp dumpling). It's more affordable than DTF but you can definitely tell the quality difference.
Not my first time at Din Ding, but a first time at the Fremont branch. I distinctly remember the Union City location boasting ludicrously long waits a few years ago, but luckily we were seated immediately here. Maybe less foot traffic? Not sure. After getting seated, you're greeted by a small portion of seasoned cabbage, a gratis and appreciated addition. We shared the twisty cucumber, beef noodle soup, shrimp and loofah dumplings, and pork XLB along with a bean curd salad. Every dish was pretty good and what one would expect from an esteemed Bay Area dumpling house. Would I venture to say that this rivals Din Tai Fung? Yes insofar as price and quality are considered. Price aside, Din Tai Fung still bests Din Ding in taste/quality.

The service is fast and customers friendly . All their dishes were pre printed on a check point order form . You can pen in the order and the waiter would take the order form from you . When the dishes are ready , the waiter would bring them to your table . You could add on to your first order if you still feel hungry . They do have a lot of customers so the second order may take a longer time to come . The pork Xiao lun bao is their signature dish . I also love their stewed beef shank , spicy seafood noodle in soup, and the steamed dumplings with sticky rice inside . We have been to this restaurant many time And keep coming back . It is a challenge to find parking one the street . Sometime we park far away and walk a few blocks . 5/5 for the food and service . Highly recommend!
I've been to the Union City location (which was good), but this was my first time at the Fremont one and the quality feels the same. Food is good and portion size was fair. Food came out quickly and the location is great too. Would recommend.
Tried this place both as takeout and dine in and have to recommend dining in. I like how they have many unique fillings in their dumplings. Their cold appetizers also taste very fresh.
My friends and I came here for lunch and we had a good time. We came with a party of six and had to wait about 20 minutes before getting a table. Inside has lots of seating, and it is pretty tight. We placed our order and the food came out soon after. Every item we got was devoured. My favorite in particular was the tomato egg noodle! Every item with spice had a healthy taste of the chili oil. The XLBs are up to par. I also liked the sweet and sour ribs, but they were a bit boney. My only complaint was service and how they were less attentive. We had to ask for water refills often. Regardless, we had a good time!
We were looking for a place to eat on our way home and this popped up so we thought we would swing by. Got in around 5ish so it wasnt crowded. Parking is plenty and we got seated right away. They have booths and tables and they have really large tables for larger parties of 6 or more. This place makes their dumplings and noodles by scratch and you can taste the difference. We had the combo chow mein, salt and pepper pork chops, string beans, bao buns with pork belly. Everything was scrumptious. Even the string beans were good and I dont even like string beans. Service was amazing, the lady who waited on us even took the time to pack all of our leftovers and chat with us. It was a great experience and I highly recommend. This is our new dumpling-go-to-place! Gastro Maestro Approved!
Came into town to visit some friends and got this recommendation while I was here. Glad we tried it! We ordered a variety of things including walnut shrimp, xlb, xlb with crab, hot and sour soup, stir fried green beans, and some dessert. Food came out fast and everything was hot and fresh. Personally not a fan of thick dumpling wrappers but the quality of the food overall was good. Service was attentive with refilling water but I had to ask multiple times for more napkins which got a little annoying. The restaurant also got really busy as it got closer to peak lunch time so I imagine that played a role. One thing that kind of put me off was my water cup looking dirty or having something in it. Hard to say what it was but it made me hesitant to keep drinking from it. I think my rating would be closer to 3.5 stars if I could do half stars because of their service and cleanliness. When asking for the napkins the second time, I saw their waiters cleaning a table then seeing me ask for napkins again, he immediately grabbed them to give me with his hands that just picked up others' trash

My dad and I are a fan of their union city location and so we figured we would come experience this! Pros: - Quality holds up compared to the other location. Delicious XLB, great noodles. - a more modern look and feel compared to the other location! -XLB skin is well made where the soup doesn't leak easily, really great ratio of skin to meat - Really efficient service - you can have a conversation but not feel like you can hear everyone's convo around you - Clean - Easy to order menu - clean bathroom - Prices are reasonable for what you get Cons: - street parking only, I can imagine it must get busy around dinner time or weekends. I felt like weekday lunch was honestly the easiest and best time to enjoy stress-free Otherwise, 10/10 will come again
We came on a Saturday for dinner. The dumplings here are really good, BUT DANG, the staff were AGGRESSIVE AF with trying to kick us out of the restaurant! They kept checking on us, and brought the check during the middle of our meal. Rude. We had hardly finished when they told us, "Sorry we have other customers," and kicked us out. Dang. We were just trying to enjoy our dinner. There's better dumpling places to go to without aggressive AF waitstaff micromanaging your time when you're just trying to enjoy good company and conversation over good food.

Din Ding Dumpling House Fremont is our happy place. They treat us like fsmily and we love visiting them frequently. We started using their outside tables recently to dine with our fur baby. They are amazing and check up on us constantly even though we choose to sit outdoors sometimes. I love their hot and sour soup. It's the perfect amount of sour and has very nice bamboo shoots and wood ear mushrooms in it. It tastes just like it should. We love their pork xiong long bao and pork and crab xiong long bao. Perfectly juicy every single time! Their fish in black bean sauce has been a hit or miss with the level of umami. The portion has always been generous. The chili oil wontons are amazing as well! The shrimp and pork shui mai is amazing as well. We will keep coming back to this location for the hospitality and food! You cannot go wrong with dining at Din Ding! read more
My friend was craving Chinese and I looked up yelp and found this spot and I'm glad we came here. It totally hit the spot and satisfied her cravings! The space was modern and clean inside and the service was really friendly and on point. Parking may be a little tricky since it's mostly street parking. Here's what we ordered for the 2 of us: Pork XLB (5/5) $13.50 Comes with 8 XLB. They were juicy and plump and had a good amount of soup in each bite. Remember to ask for the ginger container so you can put your condiments in to dunk them in. Pan Fried Chive Dumplings with scallop and shrimp (5/5) $14.50 You get 3 very crispy dumplings. Extra chives in the middle so you must love chives along with diced up scallops and shrimp. Very tasty! Spicy Cumin Zhajian Noodles with Pork (4/5) $15.95 It wasn't too spicy very tolerable and slight sweet cumin flavor sticky pieces of pork. Make sure to toss well with the noodles. It also comes with thinly sliced cucumbers and bean sprouts (which I should have removed from the dish) as we both actually don't eat it. Shrimp and Pork Shao Mai (4/5) $14.50 Comes with 5 pieces. Each piece was a good size and juicy. I would definitely come back to try more dishes. Come with more people to try a variety of them! read more

This is the more high-end looking Din Din Dumpling location in Union city, their menu selections are a subset of the original Din Din Dumpling shop and based on the interior decoration of the restaurant, it is quite obvious that they are trying to make this location looks more like a cheaper version of Din Tai Fung. With that said, the quality of their food are quite good, we ordered the Pork & Crab XLB, Hot oil noodles with Pork, and Northern Style Crispy Pork with Peach Sauce. The fillings of the XLB are very juicy & delicious, and the noodles are also very good, the Crispy Pork is like an upgraded version of sweet and sour pork that did not impress us. but overall we are pretty happy about the dishes and would recommend them. read more
From what I observed on neighboring tables, the portions here are overall quite generous, definitely the kind of place that doesn't believe anyone should leave hungry. The crab dumplings looked promising at first glance, but the skins lacked that satisfying QQ chewiness, which usually hints that the dough wasn't freshly kneaded. The filling itself could also have been a bit more tender and delicate in texture. The seafood noodle soup was comforting enough, though the broth lacked the depth and wok-kissed aroma you'd expect from properly pan-fried seafood ingredients. It needed a little more鲜味 to really bring the bowl to life. The potstickers were decent, especially with their nicely crisped bottoms, but the filling seemed marinated a touch too heavily in soy sauce. The meat came out unusually dark in color, slightly overpowering the natural sweetness and flavor of the pork. Still enjoyable , just leaning a bit too hard into the "grandma's secret soy sauce stash" energy. read more
4.5 stars? better than I expected tbh portion sizes a lot bigger than I expected seaweed w bean curd - 8/10 chicken w corn & egg soup - 7/10 def burnt my tongue on this veggies (idr which) - 4/10 no taste tbh & I slightly undercooked xlb - 7/10 nothing too special but like it was good cold noodles w sesame sauce - 7/10 low-key wish they gave just a bit more sauce bc the noodles were all sticking & tangling together but taste-wise it wasn't bad piggy custard buns - 6/10 standard but cute order dim sum style by marking how many of each thing you want kinda long of a wait even on a weekday lunch which I found interesting but maybe that's bc school is still out for the kids read more

this is my first time in this location it also its been a few years since i visited a din ding location. we got crab and pork XLB as i remb these are actually better than DTF's. Loofah and shrimp XLB reminds me of my moms amazing loofah and shrimp and pork dumplings and tasted pretty good as well. i'm usually not a XM person but the pumpkin pork and shrimp XM was really good too! beef noodles was light with very QQ noodles! perfect balance! and the spicy string beans and pork was very fresh and full of flavor as well! service was also pretty good! 10 out of 10 experience! read more

After my first visit, I was actually really excited to come back and eat here again. This time, I ordered takeout and brought it home for my partner and me. My partner was especially excited to try the fried rice. He put some on his plate and ate about half of it before I asked to try some. As soon as I picked some up, I noticed the rice was extremely sticky, gooey, and even stringy--something I have never experienced with fried rice before. I immediately became concerned and looked it up, then smelled the rice and noticed a very sour, unpleasant smell. Unfortunately, my partner ended up feeling sick afterward, which made the experience even more concerning. The XLB was still good, and I did enjoy that. However, the spicy wontons were disappointing. The wonton wrappers seemed to have absorbed a lot of the oil from the spicy sauce, making them taste very starchy, heavy, and oily rather than flavorful. It's disappointing because I really enjoyed my first visit and was looking forward to becoming a returning customer. Unfortunately, after the experience with the rice and my partner getting sick, I don't feel comfortable returning. The smell and texture of the rice are something I honestly cannot get out of my head. read more

i love me some semi bougie chinese food. overpriced, kinda oily, only slightly above average food, slightly stanky bathrooms. YUM! i personally think the union city one is better because this one is too tryhard (black tables fancy lighting etc). other than that it is the same so 4 stars for consistency. would recommend for the following occasions 1. SECOND date not first. do not spend your first date here. why would you want to be discussing common couple topics with your throat coated in oil?? 2. to introduce non asian folks to chinese food. BUT they are from only CERTAIN parts of the u.s. (excluding vegas, arizona, texas, ny, georgia, minnesota) 3. vent about your situationship (he is a lowkey performative guy but you don't think so because he doesn't listen to keshi or have mommy issues) to your best friend. but i don't order xiaolongbao while doing that read more
Din Ding is a classic Fremont food stop, so naturally we had to take our visiting German colleagues here for their last dinner in the States. This Fremont location is nicely situated in Fremont's downtown shopping district and has a very modern feel to it, while staying grounded with the decor. There are lots of tables accommodating different sized parties, and we were able to call ahead to claim a large round table for our party of 8 on a Thursday night. The restaurant was full by dinner time even on a weekday night, which was nice to see. Wait staff were attentive and food came out extremely fast. The restaurant was even nice enough to give us an additional special dessert on the house without us even asking! How sweet! Pork XLB and pork&crab XLB: Good but wish it was hotter Pork potstickers: Good, flavorful filling Shrimp toast: Never had this before but my coworker stands by it. It was really good! Chinese donut with shrimp and sriracha mayo on top Stir fried green beans: Super flavorful with red chili and bits of pork, some people's fave dish Combo fried rice and combo chow mein: Both good, not too dry Strawberry truffle chocolate XLB: Copycat of DTF except I've never had DTF's. The portion sizes were pretty big for the price, I thought everything exceeded expectations. I liked how much food was in the soup dumplings, they were very thick. Also really liked the crispy dumpling. The rice was so good too, at first with the lack of color I thought it was gonna be flavorless, but it wasn't at all. I really enjoyed the noodles too. I guess the "worst" thing was the cucumbers, only because I felt like the flavor was dripping off the veggies, but it was still super good. Can't wait to come back here. read more

We were craving some soup dumplings and beef noodle soup on a weekday around noon so decided to try this place. Service 4/10, food 7/10. Loved the soup dumplings (xiao long bao)!! They were so big and juicy, but I'd probably pass on the beef noodle soup. What I didn't appreciate was, we were only halfway done with our meal when the server put down our check. We hadn't asked for it and half the restaurant was empty with no customers waiting for a table. I put the check aside (inside the table, not on the outer side of the table) to continue to eat and in the time span of 5 minutes, multiple people asked if it was ready. If it was ready and we were done eating, we would let you know we're ready and you would see that we were done. I don't like the feeling of being rushed to eat, especially if there aren't people waiting for tables! We ended up packing everything up to go and brought the food home to finish. This was our fourth or fifth time here and I don't think we will be coming back. read more

This has a more upscale ambiance than the older one, but the resturant is smaller, so fewer large tables which is what this food is best for. Servers are also newer, seems less coordinated. Same great food though! Go for dumplings and noodles. read more
I've been to the Din ding Dumpling location in Union City before this, and I have to say, maybe because this one's a little bit newer that I had a more pleasant experience. The other one was kind of in a rundown plaza, but that didn't really bother me. It was more so the fact that in the other location the seating was just all very close to one another. I was a bit worried that there would be a wait, but thankfully we only had to wait maybe five minutes prior to getting seated on a Saturday around noon for a party of 2. We ordered 2 orders of the XLB (one set for each of us) and the spicy seafood noodle soup. The XLB's are great and it's what made me come back. The spicy seafood noodles were also enjoyable but we weren't able to finish the whole thing and ended up packing some to go which was a bit unfortunate because I forgot to separate the noodles from the soup so the noodles were pretty soft after that. ~~Parking: The restaurant is located in a nice area in Fremont and there's plenty of parking because there's a lot of street parking, but you can also park in the lot across the street and walk over. ~~Service: Good. This was probably the one time where it was the most attentive I'd ever received at an Asian restaurant because they kept refilling our water and provided us with napkins as we needed them. Throughout our less than one hour stay, they probably refilled our water five times. ~~Best Part: The XLB. Came here for lunch and it was just okay. Combination fried rice as ok. Thought the chicken meat (I think it was chicken) was dry. Got the shrimp and pork dumpling and this was okay too. Nothing special about it. Definitely had to add the ginger to give it some flavor. The spicy pork and shrimp was good but definitely needed more spice. The veggie peanut that they gave was ok. Service was ok. Food came out relatively quick. The place does need to be remodeled. The tables were chipped and some of the plates were as well. read more
Came here with friends and had a very good meal. This restaurant is in a mixed area, sort of mixed with apartments and some other food areas, but decent parking nearby, though it can be difficult to find parking right in front of the place. It's pretty nice inside, though the tables are on the slightly smaller side, however the booths are spaced enough that if you're on the bigger side (like me), you have some space to eat. The food itself is f'n delicious. We got a lot of different things, XLB, shrimp toast (omg this was soooo good), spicy pork and shrimp wontons, some cucumber thing, combo lo mein, and all of it was pretty delicious. It's definitely not as good as din tai fung, but for the price, it's a lot better deal and much better. The service was pretty excellent and SUPER fast. We sat, ordered around 8 things and were out in 40 minutes or so. The only negatives were the lack of drinks (soda, apple juice and thai tea for the most part) and they brought the check out too soon, since we were getting ready to order more food. Food 5/5 - Ordered Pork Xiao Long Bao, salt & pepper pork chops, shrimp & pork pot stickers, and dry-fried string beans with pork. Everything was delicious. Pork XLB skin was thin and had a good amount of soup. Salt & pepper pork chops were fried nicely and well seasoned, not too fatty. Shrimp & pork pot stickers were juicy and pairs well with the dipping sauce. Dry-fried string beans with pork have good "wok-hei" and the chili oil gives it a good kick. Price $$ - Price is fair for the portions that were served. Service 2/5 - Service could be improved. We felt pressured to order quickly, eat and leave. Servers were quick to clean your table but didn't offer to refill waters. The check was placed on our table shortly after our last dish arrived, while we were still eating. Ambiance 4/5 - Interior is good with Chinese themed decor. Overall - Had a mediocre service experience, but for the quality of the food it's worth visiting again. read more
Din Ding is an imperious name for a restaurant: the din were the ceremonial bronze vessels that symbolized imperial power in Ancient China, and ding means the peak, as if they were the cross surmounting the crown. I think they succeed in these lofty aims. The little basket buns are incredibly juicy and flavourful. The allium noodle dish was amazing; I could not eat enough of it. The plate of green beans were huge and very tasty. The beef noodles paired incredibly tender beef with chewy noodles. The peanut and pickled cabbage appetizer was good. The cucumber salad was rather flavourless and the only real disappointment. Every other dish was well-balanced, with no overpowering flavours. Tried this dumpling spot for the first time and overall, I was impressed! The food came out pretty quickly, which was nice considering how busy the restaurant was. The Mongolian beef was definitely the star of the meal. The beef was incredibly tender, and the broth was rich, flavorful, and comforting. I wasn't a huge fan of the combination fried rice since it tasted a little too egg-heavy for my liking. The shrimp and pork chili wontons were just okay. They had a strange peanut butter-like aftertaste that I wasn't expecting, and I'm not sure if it came from the sauce, but they weren't my favorite. Also, despite being labeled as chili wontons, they weren't spicy at all--at least not for me. On the sweeter side, the strawberry and chocolate dumplings were surprisingly good and a fun way to end the meal! The restaurant was packed, especially for a Friday dinner rush, but the waitlist moved quickly. We only waited about 12 minutes to be seated, which was a pleasant surprise. Din Ding never disappoints. It's been years since I've had it, so I'm glad it tasted as good as it does from my memory. I didn't even notice they closed the Fremont location previously, but this new location is pretty nice. Parking is okay - you just might need to walk a bit and do street parking. The wait on a weekend night wasn't too bad. I think we waited for 20 min or less. Service was fast. We marked the menu while we were waiting so we handed it to them right after we were seated. We got our 2nd dish before we were even done taking turn washing our hands. The noodle was satisfying. XLB was fairly big and very soupy. The shao mai was meaty. Braised beef was VERY tender. Their spicy sauce is pretty good too. We ordered a bit much for 3 people, but we just completed the mission peaks hike, so we finished it all. read more
Delicious! Was my first time! Ambiance is okay, waiters are constantly cleaning and moving chairs but the decorations are nice. Service is fast but not the friendliest Food: 5 stars. We even ordered more of the free appetizer, it was so good! We ordered the twisted cucumber, sliced pork with skin, pork and crab XLB, and braised beef noodles, with 2 Thai teas Everything was superb. Standout for me was the soup. read more
Summary: * Takeout * My favorites were the pork lo mein and the sliced pork * Good, would come back Sliced garlic pork with skin FYI this had a fair amount of fat along with the skin (as advertised). I liked it though, especially adding it to the lo mein. The lo mein noodles were tender and decent balance between noodles and cabbage. I just kept eating it. While normally I applaud a meaty dumpling, for some reason I found the beef and onion shao mai so dense, that I preferred the lo mein. The xlb were okay, nothing stood out either way. read more

I like the new Din Ding! The only thing that wasn't great was that it was SO COLD inside. Same great taste as the old and original locations. I tend to stick with the pork XLB. Simple and perfectly soupy. I like the string beans, but honestly the price isn't worth it for me. Braised beef noodle soup is another solid choice. No complaints on service. Seated quickly (about 1:10 on a weekday), the food came out fast and we were checked on frequently. read more

I saw this place on tiktok as being better than din tai fung so I had to come and check it out. We came on a Saturday afternoon at 12pm right before the rush. When you sit down, there's a paper menu where you can mark everything you want to order. Once submitted, everything came out super quickly. Service is fast. We got the shrimp fried rice, sautéed string beans, pork XLB, pork and shrimp spicy wontons and the pork and shrimp dumplings (pan fried). Everything was good! The shrimp fried rice had a good amount of shrimp. The string beans are not as crunchy as dtf though. The spicy wontons here are bit more peanuty than spicy. Overall, the food and portion size was good - but I don't know if the quality beats DTF. Near the end of the meal, I felt a bit rushed by some of the workers so they could make room for more people. We weren't really done eating yet so I felt like that was a bit rude. However, one worker did ask us if we wanted our custard buns reheated which I appreciated! read more

No. The seating and tables are too close together and sanitation of the restaurant wouldn't allow dogs.
What's the phone number to this location? I tried calling the number listed on the website (same as the one where on Yelp) to make a reservation and got some lady answering saying "No English" and hung up.
The phone number is correct. I called once to make reservations, and they told me to just come in. They weren't busy at the time so it's hard to tell if they don't take reservations or if it was just because they weren't busy.
As of this writing (12/30/24) do they serve dim sum on carts? If so, is it for lunch or dinner or both? Thx
