This place is fairly new and my guest and I were curious about it so we decided to try it. Came on a Sunday afternoon so it was packed. Luckily, they had one table available and were immediately sat down. They only have QR code menus. Thank goodness they have English translations, which were very descriptive so there was no guessing on what was what. We're not familiar with this cuisine, so we tried to look for something basic and ordered beef with noodles and deep fried dumplings. Ordering was quick and easy. The server dropped off small bowls of broth, left behind a buzzer, and explained to us that the toppings were self-serve. 10 minutes later, our buzzer went off and we picked up our bowls and put our toppings on. I got garlic, chili crisp, green onion, pickled bamboo/vegetables, and vinegar. We sat down and poured our broth on and mixed the bowls up. I was really impressed with the beef. Very tender and melted in my mouth. The noodles were sooooo soft and easy to chew. The toppings I chose were excellent and definitely added a spicy kick. I was getting nervous because I normally can't handle spice. Hours after eating, I was fine. The deep fried dumplings were great as well. Super juicy and packed with pork and green onion filling. The Good: * Large shared parking lot. * Friendly service. * Order and pay through a QR code (Toast). * The Golden Deep-fried Dumplings were pretty good on their own, but make sure you eat them with a healthy dose of that vinegar sauce, and you will take them to a whole 'nother level. * The Golden Pumpkin Cakes were very good and not too sweet, which I prefer. If you like the texture of mochi, you will love these. * For the uninitiated in this type of cuisine, you essentially order a meat topper for your noodles, and then you go to the unlimited toppings bar to add as much or as little as you want to your meat and noodles. You then mix it all up and enjoy. The noodles and meat are served "dry," but they provide a small bowl of broth if you would like things a little more moist. The chili crisps, fried peanuts, and some of their pickled veggies are a must in my opinion, but you do you, boo. * Whatever combo you order, make sure you get crispy pork as one of your meat options; we both thought it was outstanding. The Meh: * No outdoor dining. The Ugly: * I wasn't a fan of the seasonal greens. They needed some seasoning and were very tough and chewy when served whole. 写作 This was my second visit to this restaurant. I believe I may have been one of the first customers when it originally opened. During my first visit, I found the soup base/sauce had a very strong herbal and medicinal flavor that overwhelmed everything else. I mentioned this to the owner at the time, wondering if there might have been too much star anise, and she was very receptive to the feedback. This time, I came back with my newborn daughter, and I was happy to notice a significant improvement. The strong herbal flavor in the soup base/sauce has become much milder. However, the braised beef tripe still had a very strong star anise flavor, perhaps as part of the preparation to reduce the natural smell of the tripe. My first visit would have been a 1-star experience, but I'm happy to give 3.5 stars this time because of the improvement in the sauce. The small topping bar has also been expanded with quite a few more choices, and for that reason, I'm very happy to give the restaurant 4 stars overall. The only concern I had was with two items at the topping bar: the pickled mustard greens and the pickled radish. I noticed two or three fruit flies crawling around them, so I decided not to take any. I completely understand that flies are naturally attracted to sour and fermented foods, but I hope the restaurant can keep a closer eye on the topping bar and perhaps improve its protection from insects. Overall, I'm genuinely happy to see that the restaurant listened to feedback and improved the sauce/soup base. The one star I'm taking off is mainly due to the fruit flies and the still very strong herbal/star-anise flavor in the braised tripe. Not one to turn down trying a new restaurant, we wandered into Gui Taste with absoluetly no expectations. They feature rice noodle bowls with a variety of meat options and a self serve toppings bar. You order via QR code and they buzz you to pick up your bowls at the counter once your food is ready. Unfortunately, I did not care for the toppings available at the bar, so it was just rice noodles and meat for me. The crispy pork belly was good but a little too rich. It was a little difficult to eat. I liked the bbq pork, and the sauce for the noodles was tasty, but definitely need something to cut the saltiness. They did provide a little bowl of tasteless broth which I wasn't sure you were suppose to sip or pour into the noodles. No instruction were given. My husband found a new noodle restaurant for us to try- what an unexpected treat! Once the noodles are ready- you will need to go to the condiment bar to add your toppings. I added everything except the spicy condiments. Then you will need to mix everything well- there is sauce on the bottom of the bowl. The space is big enough for several tables and food comes pretty quickly. We ordered two orders of the fried dumplings which were crispy and tasty, one order of the pork belly and beef rice noodles, one order of the barbeque pork rice noodles and a dish of the greens. I know Gui Taste is new and sometimes it's hard to judge based on the limited reviews, but after seeing such high ratings, I just had to take my partner here to try this place. He loves noodles so this is right up his alley. What attracted me to this place was the amazing looking unlimited toppings! We arrived during peak dinner time on a Friday and thankfully it was busy, but there were still some tables available and I think turnover here is not too slow. Order is done via QR code on every table. My partner got the Beef & Crispy Pork Guilin Rice Noodles while I got the Beef Tripe & Beef Guilin Rice Noodles. We also ordered Golden Pumpkin Cakes and Seasonal Greens to share. I think depending on how busy the restaurant is, they'll hand out buzzers to you so you'll get notified when your noodles are ready to be picked up at the back counter. The table with all the toppings is conveniently placed near that counter so you can grab your toppings before pouring in the soup. They recommend that you try the dry mix first and then try it with the soup. With all the pickled veggies and crunchy toppings, the first bite was a flavor bomb! I think I may have added a bit too much vinegar to my bowl because the first bite was strong (be careful of how much you add, haha). But every bite after was delicious! The noodles were bouncy, the meat wasn't the most tender, but still good. The tripe was pretty soft and slightly chewy. The flavor mellowed a little bit after adding in the soup, but it made it more comforting as well. The seasonal veggies had great 'wok hey' and while I enjoyed the pickled stuff, I also like my simple stir-fried veggies too. Very fresh and green! Lastly, for the pumpkin bites - these reminded me of sesame balls in dim sum places, but had a very soft outer texture. Kinda sticky and slightly chewy. It was tasty, but also pretty oily, so I would probably skip this next time. Even though my partner disliked driving here with the terrible Friday traffic, he left Gui Taste pretty content! Didn't feel like deciphering the menu bc some translations show up in the preview and some you need to open up the item, so we went with the popular bowls. Did not disappoint and huge portion, obviously noodles are the star here so you will be full from that; if you need to meet a protein quota, you'll need some protein powder when you get home . You pick up your own bowls after the buzzer goes off, then add your toppings, chili, and vinegar. The (bone?) broth comes separately before or after your noodles are ready, idk when you're supposed to or even if you supposed to, add it, but it's a free country. The soup is unseasoned, btw. They refill your waters consistently, and service is super kind and organized. The best part? As a parent who enjoys spicy food once in a while and doesn't want to share with your kids? Brand new Guilin Noodle House and I'm so glad I came to check them out... the beef was tender and well marinated, the pork belly perfectly fatty and crisp, and the noodles were silky and smooth. All the toppings added so much bright flavor, and on a self serve bar was such a bonus, the bamboo shoots were my favorite. The waitresses were also very attentive and polite. I've never had this type of food before but it was very good, very fresh tasting and not so heavy. Small limited menu for now, but the server told me that more will be added soon. I got a combo with beef and pork, I probably would stick with just pork next time. Very fresh and clean tasting, I just wish the meat portion matched the noodles because there was so much noodles left over ! The server is very kind and explains everything to you. They got Chicharron noodles for God's sake. I had a feeling I was gonna like this place. I order the fried pork and noodles, and a few minutes later they hand me a simple looking bowl of perfect looking noodles and a pile of sliced pork that goes from a rosy pink center to perfectly crispy skin all the way around it. I then go down the condiment line and do one of everything: pickled greens, bamboo, peanuts, chili, garlic, cilantro, more chili, hit it with a squirt of vinegar gave it a toss and it ended up goddamn perfect. Came here for the 2nd time. Last time I got togo and is pretty good. But this time is a disappointment. The beef tribe is very hard, taste like rubberband. Is not soft and chewy enough my mom choke on the piece of meat. I told the server and she said she will try it but didn't give us a new bowl or anything.
