Yummmm!!! I just love noodles. Staff was helpful and nice. First time trying cold ramen. And seriously love it. Got the shugetsu tsukemen special. And the fried chicken. The chicken was nice and crispy. And the noodles were perfect. The soup wasn't too salty. It wasn't crowded during Wednesday lunch. Will probably crave this often! Lol

5 stars -- easily one of the most satisfying ramen experiences I've had in a while. The pork belly ramen was incredible. It leans lighter, more shoyu and bonito-forward, which made it feel clean but still deeply flavorful. The broth came out piping hot (the way it should be), topped with fresh green onions, bamboo shoots, and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. The homemade noodles had that ideal chewy bite that really tied everything together. The tsukemen was just as impressive -- rich, smoky, and super flavorful. The pork belly was tender and comforting, and the dipping broth had a depth that kept me going back for more. And the chicken karaage? One of the best I've had. It came out dangerously hot (in a good way), with skin so crispy it almost snapped like a chip. The sauce was packed with flavor -- soy sauce, green onions, and grated radish gave it a punchy, savory finish that elevated the whole dish. Would absolutely come back again.

Great ramen spot right behind Bill's Cafe. No wait on a Friday at 7pm but it was decently crowded. I've tried the tsukumen and shugetsu ramen in the past and I think I prefer the shugetsu ramen, the broth is so clear and tasty but both are good. Noodles are thin and firm. It's a bit hidden but worth seeking out, possibly the best ramen spot in Fremont.

Truly a delightful little ramen shop with amazing noodles. The interior looked clean as far as I could see, and the staff are so very polite and friendly. The broth of the Shugetsu Tsukemen is not like your typical ramen-like broth. Instead, it's met with a savory and tangy flavor that becomes a bold dipping bath for the house-made noodles. If you find the broth too salty just ask for some hot water to water it down. The char on the meat in the broth was delicious and distinct. The marinated egg was perfectly cooked and marinated. And last but not least, the noodles were my absolute favorite component as they were a lovely thick consistency and had a great bounce to them. I got a regular size and it was more than enough for me. If you're a fan of anime and ramen then definitely check out this shop. Loved the figures and overall down-to-earth aesthetic. Will definitely be back to try out more options on the menu! :)

I discovered today that I am not a bold broth person. And the Shugetsu Tsukemen's soup was very, very strong lol. I should have asked more questions on what's in it (there's no description), but I think for my flavor profile I just prefer something lighter so I will try the Miso one next time. Shugetsu Tsukemen Special ($20): It was an extra $2 for another half of a marinated egg and 3 pieces of pork slices, which was a fair price. I opted for cold noodles and the regular size, and I don't know why I chose regular when all the noodle portion sizes were the same price??? Friends. Go for at least large, because you can always take home your leftovers and have Tsukemen again (I don't expect anyone to finish their soup since you're just dipping noodles in it). Non-Spicy Miso Tsukemen Special ($22): My friend ordered it with hot noodles and really liked it! I would get this spicy for the next visit, and I missed it on the menu that they will add extra soup at the end.

There's no wait on Saturday dinner time. The dip noodles (tsukumen). are same price regardless of size, the dipping broth is nice with the right flavor. We opted for tsukumen with marinated egg for $18, the egg was nice but it's cold. The noodles were sticking together like a big dough, I am having some trouble to get them out and dip them into the dipping broth. Shugetsu ramen is the chicken + soya + bonito broth not the normal tonkotsu broth. It's okay, we got the grilled pork belly, it's awesome Love the fried chicken, so far the best I had. It's crispy with tender meat, the minced ginger sauce is a great addition to the chicken.

Came here on a random Thursday for lunch with my mom, who loves ramen. She was craving ramen, and I was craving tsukemen, so we decided to give this place a try. The menu is pretty straightforward and not overwhelming, which I appreciated. I have pretty high standards for tsukemen, so I ordered the Spicy Miso Tsukemen. Shugetsu met more than half of my expectations, I'd give my bowl a 7/10. My mom ordered the Shugetsu Ramen, and I think she really liked it, she almost finished her entire bowl, which says a lot. For appetizers, we ordered the fried chicken and takoyaki. The takoyaki was good, but the fried chicken was a bit cold when it was served. Now for the downsides. While we were eating, there was a cockroach on the floor that crossed from one table to another. That was definitely the biggest letdown and honestly hard to ignore. The second issue was the wait time. We waited almost an hour for the appetizers, and then another 25 minutes for our ramen and tsukemen. It felt longer than expected, especially for lunch. Will I go back? Probably?? If I'm really craving a good bowl of tsukemen. But I do hope they improve cleanliness and timing because that makes a big difference in the overall experience.

The servers were very nice and accommodating but I agree with others that the menu is not very descriptive. I don't eat pork so I loved that they only use chicken broth, then I realized my tsukemen came with bits of pork all throughout. The menu doesn't really mention what it comes with so I had assume it would just be some broth with bamboo shoots. Otherwise the noodles were the perfect size and texture!

Shugetsu is a new tsukumen noodle shop that recently came to Fremont Vibes give off very Japanese anime aesthetics and the servers are nice and helpful Parking is easy Abura soba was solid noodles with great flavor and had great chewy noodles The tsukumen was also solid and the sauce itself was a bit watery but still good enough to cling to the noodles Chicken karaage was unique and had great flavor as well Overall good vibes good food! Also checkout their bathroom vibes its interesting

3.5 stars I ordered the charcoal grilled pork belly ramen and we shared the fried chicken/karaage. what's unique about this tsukemen/ramen place is that you can ask for extra noodles at no extra cost but the regular size was enough for me. I did not like the broth for the charcoal grilled pork , it was dark and oily. Maybe the regular shugetsu ramen would've been a better choice if it had tonkotsu broth, i'll ask next time. The fried chicken sauce was pretty good but the chicken pieces were kind of jagged and big, not as gum friendly for those with sensitive gums like me lol

The place is clean and well lit. Service was good and fast. The ramen is mediocre. Maybe it's just me, soup wasn't anything special.

This is the place to get a signature Tsukemen, a traditional Japanese dish meant to be consumed by dipping ramen in the flavorful broth. Shugetsu, a relatively new addition to the Japanese cuisine scene in Fremont, has made quite an impression with their simple menu of Tsukemen and Ramen dishes that come with your size preference of noodles (from 200g to 500g in weight). With a few options for its soup base, you'll be able to quickly choose the best combination of ingredients to satisfy your cravings. After making your way into the main parking lot, which is typically full and features extremely tight spots, you'll be able to see Shugetsu in all its glory sharing space with aged buildings of former shop tenants. Because of the vacancy, however, you'll be fortunate enough to find a spot relatively close to the restaurant and if not, just around the corner. Upon walking into the brightly lit dining room, you'll catch a glimpse of the corner populated by well-known anime figurines and collectibles. Do make your way to appreciate the display and if you don't recognize any, I highly encourage you to research and watch some of them! Once seated at our table, we perused the menus that were already made available and the staff provided cups for us to drink from the already served pitcher of water. The menu is broken up into appetizers/side dishes, rice, tsukemen and ramen. Toppings are all pretty standard across their dishes which include the marinated egg, bamboo shoots, green onions, and charcoaled grilled pork belly but the soup base is what makes each dish stand out. We got a variety to get a good taste and were quickly won over with the quality, value, and presentation. Fried chicken (karaage) - comes in two sizes, 3 or 5 pieces, and each piece is extremely crispy with skin intact! Charcoal grilled pork belly rice - a hearty bowl of white rice with three succulent pieces of pork belly and a healthy heap of green onions. It was a light meal compared to the tsukemen and ramen bowls. Shugetsu tsukemen special - with a mega dose of noodles, this bowl of umami-rich soup was the perfect pairing. Dipping in the soup and slurping it all up helped me slow down and enjoy each bite. The noodles were chewy and tender, the bowl was loaded with pieces of flavorful meat, and the soup was savory until the very last drop. Miso tsukemen special - more mild in flavor compared to the Shugetsu special but still enough umami to excite the tastebuds. The broth was clearer so perfect for those looking for a lighter pairing with noodles. The staff were quick, efficient and friendly throughout the service. They handled the ever growing waitlist quite well - the place gets packed during peak meal times so come early or put your name down and be prepared to wait. Fortunately, there are a couple monitors broadcasting anime for entertainment. Overall, Shugetsu gets my vote for one of the best newcomers of the year, not only for the quality of food but also for their unique take on dipping noodles. This anime-themed shop makes a fun atmosphere and although the theme isn't tied into the food which could be an area of growth, it does immerse you in the Japanese culture and enhance the dining experience. The food is reasonably priced for the amount of noodles you could potentially order and its freshness out of the kitchen. Don't take my word for it but hopefully this at least "gets you" in the door to try out Shugetsu!

LENT 2026: GOOD FRIDAY LUNCH…read more The first time I ate at Toro Sushi Stone Grill & Bar was the last Saturday of February for my mom's birthday. We had a private room for the party. Out of food that was served I really enjoyed eating the sashimi, which was presented on a platter. I also liked grilled salmon. During Lent I wanted to come back to Toro for lunch. I thought about getting sashimi or grilled salmon when I came back. A couple days before coming to Toro for Good Friday lunch I looked at the menu online. Why pay for the dishes I ate before? One of the dishes that intrigued me was the baked unagi fried rice. However the baked salmon fried rice sounded enticing. Also one of the appetizers sounded interesting was the sashimi pizza. My plan was to order an appetizer and an entree for Good Friday lunch. On Friday when I got a table I looked at the menu. The lunch special listed unagi don. Then I started thinking to myself. Why do I have to eat only fish on Fridays during Lent? Vegetables are permitted during Lent Fridays. I looked at the salad menu and one item intrigued me was the avocado salad. Instead of getting a sashimi pizza for an appetizer I choose avocado salad. Knowing a salad would not be filling I ordered the crispy salmon skin roll. For entree I ordered the unagi don. I'll start with the crispy salmon. A lot of people don't like to eat crispy skin of a fish. I love it. The crispy salmon skin roll is a filling roll due to the sauce, which adds flavor to the rice. Instead of a roll I would like to see crispy skin salmon as an appetizer as it would be similar to a chicharron. Regarding the avocado salad I liked how avocado wasn't skimpy in portion. There's one thing I don't like in salad and that is water. I understand cleaning the lettuce to get rid of the dirt, but the lettuce better be dry instead of water dripping at the bottom on the bowl. I came here for the unagi don. I felt I made a right decision of ordering the unagi don instead of the baked unagi fried rice. With the steamed rice I could taste the eel whereas the fried rice would've overpowered the eel. The unagi don was a filling dish and I believe if I ordered a baked unagi fried rice I would have felt bloated. On this last Friday during Lent I enjoyed my lunch at Toro Sushi Stone Grill and Bar. I liked the sashimi that was served for my mom's birthday party than what I ordered during Good Friday. I can see myself coming here again. Maybe next time I try the stone grill items.
