If you like spicy/ hot/Schezhuan peppercorns type of food then this is the place for you. It cannot get spicier than this. Hahaha If you don't like spicy food or oily dishes, then stay away from this place. You're not going to be able to handle the burning sensation in your mouth.......but I do suggest you request the dishes without spice seasoning if you prefer non spicy.......then you'll be ok. You can also request seasoning on the side so you can control the level of spiciness. Don't get me wrong! This place is good and dishes are reasonably priced. Those peppercorns give it that numbing feeling in your mouth in a good way. It's best to eat here during cooler months, in my opinion. I think it worth trying it.
First you walk in & pick your own table. Then you have to scan the bar code on the table for the menu. We were able to add different items on the same list from different phones. The service and the food came out quick. It was raining, and the perfect meal for this weather. I finished the whole bowl, which means it was hella good. I only wish there were more meat, rather than more noodles. But I don't like that it's minimal human interaction. There was water on the table already, and we served ourselves. At the end we walked up to pay with a person at the counter. I like more personal interaction with human rather then just my phone. But this is a great place, if you're an introvert and like minimal contact with people.
Pretty good Chong Qing style noodle soup, basically noodles in a spicy/numbing/savory broth. I had the beef noodle soup which was just right with the spice and salt levels, the beef chunks were juicy and tender. We liked their vegetarian buns and vegetarian noodle as well. Plenty of parking and pretty good service , the waiters were very attentive with us and the food came out quickly. Only miss was the spicy wontons, I felt like the filling was not flavorful enough and the chili sauce was more heat/spicy without depth of flavor. Definitely a place worth checking out if you are in the area!
Casual eatery featuring Chongqing noodles and more. Came with a group to celebrate birthday and server kindly let me borrow their drink fridge to keep a cake I brought. I ordered the special combo beef and pork knuckle noodle soup, non-spicy. Decent amount meat, more noodles heavy, could have more veggies. No MSG after taste so big plus. Dear husband got the chickpea and ground beef mild spicy, which he said was definitely spicy. Also had side dish with mixed veggies and tripe, tasty but I could only handle a couple pieces. If you enjoy spicy, definitely come try it!
Been here multiple times! My favorite place to get authentic Chongqing noodle in the entire bay even tho I live in South Bay. Noodle is fresh and love the texture with generous amount of topping. Even if you don't eat spicy, you can adjust spiciness level and add some vinegar to make it less spicy. My go to is 重庆小面(Chongqing noodle) with 微辣(slightly spicy) and add vinegar. The customer service is also amazing. Very friendly and kind. I left my gloves here, but had no problem picking them up a week later. Will come back again!
Oh my. I stopped to give blood at the Red Cross right next door. Came here for lunch. Fantastic! I got the Wontons in Chili Sauce. It was the perfect blend of tasty and spicy. Service was great, and the prices weren't too bad. I'll be back.
It replaced the old dumpling house. We had the braised beef noodle and Chong Qing noodles, both were mediocre. Same type of noodles for both dishes, you have to eat them quickly because the noodles will get soggy and mushy. There's more noodles than meat, so you basically get a lot of carbs than protein. The cold dish chili chicken is pretty bland too, the chicken meat is so hard to eat.

Hot Pots originated in this region. Offerings (Chong Qing): appetizers, small plates, won tons, noodle soups, Buns, drinks. Ordered by QR code. Spiciness can be customized. Bites: Chong Qing Pea & Ground Pork Noodle (16.99) medium spicy with peanuts. -ready in 5ish minutes. Single chef can cook egg noodles in a wire basket in boiling water while stir frying meats & veggies. Adding mala sauce for the finish. Mix then poured over al dente noods. -the mix of peanuts, corn, peas, bok choy, green onions, ground pork, noods bland as the mala & chili sauce spiciness overpowdered it. -while mala was felt locally in mouth, the chili sauce wasn't noticeable till the evening when i felt a burning sensation while taking care of business. *appears mala & chili sauce was mixed. -noodle portion double the usual. Makes the price worthy. Couldn't finish. Had leftovers for snack later. 4.5 stars
Tried this place again after their soft opening and the experience was much better - order from a QR code but pay at the counter. Food comes up pretty quick, the noodles are cooked well and tasty (slightly on the saltier side but that's configurable). Consistency of the noodles are perfect - will come back again for sure.
We find ourselves at this fairly sizable strip mall in Newark quite often, so we were surprised that we had not tried out Chong Qing yet despite the rave reviews. Walking in around 1pm on a Saturday, the place was surprisingly less than half full and had plenty of available seating. My wife ordered the ChongQing Noodle Pea Ground Pork Noodles at no spicy. And I opted for the Signature Braised Beef Noodles with a mild spiciness. When the bowls arrived, my "mild" bowl had a deep red broth. Not sure if they got my spice level mixed up, but the "mild" was mind numbingly hot. If that was the mild, I shudder to think what the actually spicy level is like. Despite the overpowering spiciness, both the noodles and beef were really good. And my wife really enjoyed her dish, which consisted of chickpeas and ground pork. The ChongQing Noodle Pea Ground Pork Noodles as it turns out is actually closer to a dry noodle dish, wish some wetness at the bottom. Looking forward to coming back here more often. But will definitely be going for the NO spiciness option next time!
Chong Qing Noodle's customer service is phenomenal. I went there alone for dinner, and the waiter was exceptionally friendly--ensuring everything I needed was taken care of. I ordered the ChongQing Noodle Pea Ground Pork Noodles, and it was absolutely delicious. Words can't fully express how much I loved this dish, but if you're ever unsure of what to order here, go for this one! The thin noodles had the perfect texture, and though I'm not typically a fan of peas, they added a nice layer of texture to every bite. The broth was bursting with umami flavor. The dish itself was perfect as is, but I love adding chili crisp oil to my meals, and it elevated the flavor even further. This restaurant is an easy 5/5 stars--I would highly recommend it for anyone craving authentic noodle dishes!
Came here because a fellow foodie had highly recommended it. I was surprised to see it fairly empty on a Saturday night given the high ratings but went in anyway. Given that it was fairly empty, we were instructed to sit anywhere. The menu and ordering is done via a QR code which was both nice and annoying. It was nice because it showed all the ways each dish can be customized for spice level and type of noodle and toppings if applicable. However, the way the menu was set up was a little challenging to navigate because some dishes would be in multiple sections. After I placed the order, the staff double confirmed that it was ok to put peanuts in my food. We ordered 4 dishes for 2 people and selected medium spicy for everything. Food came out quickly and all the dishes were pretty tasty. Portions were sizeable and we ended up with plenty of leftovers. We had: - Slice beef and ox tongue in chili sauce - there were definitely more parts than just beef and tongue but the sauce was so tasty I couldn't stop eating it and only paused because I knew there was more food coming - Wontons in chili sauce - this dish actually came out last and I saw them making the wontons in the kitchen which was probably why it took a little longer than the other dishes. This is a brothy version of this dish with good numbing spice flavor. - Chongqing dry noodles with ground pork - first, a note on the menu that the word "pork" is cut off so I had to take a gamble on the type of meat. (But knew it was likely pork). Once mixed up, this became a saucy noodle dish that my friend commented is "like a spicy spaghetti". This is another addictive dish. - Signature braised beef noodle soup - I've been craving Taiwanese beef noodle soup and while the flavor and type of noodles in this soup wasn't anything like that, it was still tasty. The meat was extremely tender. One thing I didn't like was that the broth of this soup and of the chili wontons was the same so we had two dishes with very similar flavors. The staff was nice but we did have to request bowls and plates for sharing (maybe other customers don't usually share?)
Came by while I was volunteering near by. Got the pea ground pork noodle and braised beef. Even though I ordered mild, there was plenty of heat packed for both dishes. The braised beef noodle was ok. Hubby didn't care too much for it. For the pea noodle, they gave me the option of having with broth or serving dry with a side of the sauce. I asked what she would recommend and she said the dry one so I went with it and it was delicious with a side of picked veggies. Yummy.
Solid Chinese noodle spot in the heart of Newark offering various different kinds of noodles. You can choose the different kinds of spiciness levels, to your tolerance. But I didn't find the spicy actually spicy. I think it's tamed down a bit, but there is chili oil available for you to add more spiciness to your noodle dish if you're looking for more of a kick. No actual menu anymore, all QR code scan to order. We ordered the classic Signature Braised Beef Noodle Soup-spicy, Spice Braised Beef Noodle Soup-no spicy, and the pig ear appetizer. They were all done well and delicious. The service was okay. Nothing special, nothing bad. Most of the time if you need something, you'll need to flag someone down and make that request, otherwise you're pretty much on your own. Wow the food is so flavorful and spicy. I LOVE IT!!!!! The combo noodle is super filling! You can probably share if there are two of you. It was a good kick of spice and I got medium spice level. The cold spicy chicken was really well flavored.. that sauce was unforgettable. The sneaky favorite was actually the mushroom and veggies buns! Wow. They were so good. Perfect seasoned filling - the mushroom is not a strong taste. We got a frozen bag of a dozen buns so we can steam them at home. The waiter was really nice. The restroom is clean! The tables were sticky and no ac but honestly it did not matter. I will certainly be back if I'm in the area. read more

Yumm noodles! I got the beef noodles extra spicy and they were very SPICY!! We like spice though, haha. If you're not into spice be careful! The staff was very attentive and also helped explain the menu to us. Overall it was a good experience. read more
Perfect spot to come to when you're craving a big bowl of spicy oily noodles packed with flavor. I got the Chongqing pea ground pork noodles, which I was I thought came with soup since they also had another dry option on the menu (which I didn't choose). However, my noodles came completely dry. Regardless, the noodles were quite delicious! The spicy oil clings onto the noodles well, and the minced pork and peas were the perfect toppings for added texture and flavor. I got medium spice, but didn't find it to be that spicy. The noodles were extremely greasy, so the mixed vegetable salad really helped to cleanse my palate and added a much needed refresher to the meal. Also enjoyed the spicy chicken in chili sauce, but they went a little overboard on vinegar in my opinion! Chicken could also be more tender. Excellent excellent excellent service! The owner of the shop is a mom from Chonqing. She made us feel at home throughout our whole dining experience. So incredibly kind and it's nice to know that her recipes are authentic! The place itself is pretty small. A simple and casual noodle spot to hit up. I'm 100% coming back to try other items! read more
Tried this place out for a Friday evening dinner and got their pea ground pork noodles with soup at mild spicy level. The food was decent and a good portion size. I would recommend getting mild spice level as this was a good level, moving up and you might have difficulty eating unless you have a high spice tolerance. Service was attentive and food came out quickly. There is enough seating and no wait time to be seated. Ambiance was ok. Plenty of parking in the plaza. read more
This place is a good spot for spicy noodles. Chewy? Check. Spicy? YEP. Tasty? Yep. Only complaint I have is that their dishes could get a bit on the oilier side, so might be hard on some stomachs. I had ordered their Chong Qing noodles with ground pork, medium spicy. Medium was legit medium, like as if I was in Asia, which could be why my stomach wasn't liking it shortly after the meal. But don't dare changing that scale, because I'm loving this place for it! The portion sizes were on the larger end, great to share, but nobody wants to share the same spice level with me, and leftover noodles don't fare too well. I tried their mixed veggie appetizer, which was just bean curd, peppers, cilantro. Not bad but also doesn't stand out, I just needed some veggies to balance my meal. I came here on a weekend for lunch, they had just opened, so zero wait. The store is in the Newark Lions plaza, but at the end where it's located by non-Chinese food spots. Pretty attentive service, low key surprised when the food is actually good and the prices are normal. Kinda want another bowl now that I have to write about it. My only wish is that it's located closer to me, especially for wintery days. read more

We decided to try this new noodle place during soft opening. The service was friendly and fast. They could accomodate non spicy option for my kid. These noodles are more like dry noodle (only has small soup at the bottom). - A1 Chongqing noodle pea ground pork noodles (non spicy): the thin noodle was cooked perfectly (still a bit firm & had chew). The ground pork was very flavorful & tasted like authentic Chongqing flavor (had lot of earthy spices). When I mixed the pea with the noodle, it gave creamy texture to the whole dish. If I ate this for myself, I would ordered the spicy version but my kid loved the non spicy one. - A6 Chongqing dry noodle with ground pork: simple and delicious authentic spicy dry noodle. The noodle was firm yet chewy. The spicy sauce had good spiciness (didn't me sweat but my tongue definitely tasted the burn). The ground pork was flavorful and they gave generous portion of it. They were authentic Chongqing dry noodle with its signature spicy soup. The portion was generous. We will come back to try different items. read more
The restaurant is tucked away in a busy plaza. We came on a Friday for lunch and the staff there was super friendly. I ordered the Chong qing pea ground pork rice noodle and the broth was light but filled with umami. Highly recommend trying it with vinegar to balance the savory with acidity. Light spice level was perfect for me. Rice noodles were on the chewy side. Others got spicy level and there was too much oil. read more
Very underrated noodle spot. The food is so delicious and everything tastes authentic. Nothing is too overwhelming. Service was great, you can pay by many different options. The server speaks only English but the cook only speaks Chinese which I find that quite quirky, but everything was thoroughly understood and they work well together. Ambiance is very chill, mom and pops vibe. Definitely recommend you to come here and try it for yourself. We got the beans and meat noodles, which is creamy and quite saucy, perfect if you don't like spicy. We also got the intestine noodles, which was so flavorful and they gave lots of intestines. And we got the sour rice noodles as well, extremely flavorful, my mouth was numb during it but the spice wasn't too intense, it's just right! With a side of tripe salad, it truly made the experience way better! I enjoy this spot very much and I can't wait to come back! I also recommend the baos bun, they can sell out so grab what you can. I went here for lunch with a friend since I was craving some noodles and a some numbing spices. We were the first ones there (right at opening) on a Friday. It was pretty cold inside but the food soon warmed us up. I ordered the Chongqing Dry Noodles with Ground Pork and my friend ordered the Signature Braised Noodle soup, which he said was delicious. I liked my dish, I got it mild but could have used a little more spice, probably. The crunch from the peanuts added good texture to the dish! I only ate about half and saved the rest of for later. My friend finished his meal and was pretty happy with the medium spice level. As we were leaving, the place started to fill up! The woman and man working there seemed like a husband wife duo? They were very nice but their English is limited so we did our ordering through the QR code. They do have menus you can ask for too but they still ask you to order through the app. read more

Been meaning to try this place for a while! We came on a Thursday evening and were able to get seated right away. I got one of their signatures noodles, the Pea Ground Pork Noodles. They are very generous with the amount of noodles in each dish (love that for them), and even though I ordered it not spicy, it had a tinge of mala, which I actually quite liked. I wasn't a huge fan of the chickpeas though. Service here was also great! Our waiter was very nice and accommodating and he even asked if we had any feedback at the end of our meal. read more
