Three flavor spicy noodle soup since
    Kimm N.

Came here to try out their three flavor spicy noodle soup since it's hard to find this dish at restaurants in recent years. Especially good quality that I used to get pre-pandemic days.. unfortunately most of the good ones didn't survive the pandemic and no longer existed. :( It was average in flavor and taste. Also the broth is a little on the thick side and could use more. That said my family loves their XLB and thought it was better than Din Tai Fung. Their beef noodle soup apparently was good too. Ambiance: lots of parking space, clean interior and expedient service.

***literally my mom's favorite restaurant*** OVERALL: No lunch specials. Taiwanese cuisine. Great prices. Edible food with more or less its expected flavor profile. Dishes are often dirty with spots. FOOD: ***you must always order the XLB as it's their specialty*** - their pickled Napa cabbage and soups seems to be rocking as well (their meatballs are homemade) - their sautéed items needs improvement (it's not very authentic or tasty, it's very MSG filled...for example, no cumin seeds in a cumin dish) - string beans aren't the fresh and crisp kind, but the kind of near past old stage SERVICE: Immediately speaks Mandarin. Very to the point. Very attentive. Would subconsciously rush you out when they see you are at your last bite or having a conversation, they will slip the bill on your table. Does not charge for bag or to go containers. AMBIANCE: Lunch does not seem very busy vs dinner and weekends likely due to no lunch specials. Mostly Mandarin speaking folks dining in. Casual. Great for large groups and parties. Located in the newer Newark / Stevenson plaza. Private parking lot. Would I come back? I wouldn't come here if I had a choice, but am frequently dragged here.

Another update. Our family came to visit during Christmas time and they requested to come back here. We actually hadn't planned on coming here when they initially came a couple years ago but we were thwarted at a busier spot so we decided why not bring them to our go-to spot. So it did give them a good impression that they asked to come here again specifically for their Dong po pork with mini buns. So we came again but this time it was packed but we didn't wait too long to get seated. Then it was just a matter of ordering everything and getting all the food. Unfortunately they did mess up one of our orders which has also happened in the past. It's okay. We'll eat anything but it was a bummer though. But the quality has still been pretty much the same. We're still always comparing other places to this spot for the XLBs. There is a bathroom, but there's only one. So if someone is in there for a while, you'll have to wait. It was a bit difficult to brush my teeth in there though. There's also a lot of seating inside of various sizes that can be combined or taken apart depending on your party size which is nice. They're fast with their food so you won't wait long to be fed. Overall, we're still coming back here often whenever we're craving xlbs or just comfort food.

Went with the fam to eat some soup dumplings. Came on a Saturday night, was fairly busy but we were able to be seated quickly. It was pretty crowded but service was good. I definitely see it as a nice casual spot for a cozy meal! We ordered 3 soup dumplings (loofah and shrimp, pork, pork and crab meat), the thin green onion pancakes, shrimp fried rice, and the crab meat seafood combo tofu clay pot. The soup dumplings and green onion pancakes were the standouts--juicy, savory soup dumplings paired with the vinegar ginger sauce were good, and the green onion pancakes were easy to eat, not too thick and still having some crisp to them, with little bits of scallion flavor coming through. Prices were reasonable and portions were filling! Overall, good place for soup dumplings and other Taiwanese dim sum foods.

Been here for a few times. The soup dumplings are always good. We tried all three kinds - the pork, pork & crab, loofah squash & shrimp. Dumping wrapping is thin and each steamer has 6 dumplings. Service is fast. It's nice that there are no bones in the drunken chicken and the three-cup chicken dishes. The fish filet with sweet and sour sauce is a bit strange since they added tomato sauce in it which isn't what we expected. The weekend is pretty busy and expect to wait if you go there around lunch time. Note that you'll need to walk all the way inside towards their counter to put down your name on the waiting list.

Super delicious cabbage and beef with 沙茶 (satay) sauce! Definitely recommend trying their xiao long bao -- that first bite when you sip the soup is so satisfying!

Food here is so good, the soup dumplings, pork with bun, green onion pancake. The service was really quick. Good size restaurant for group too, great place for breakfast and lunch, that's why we kept coming back

Came a long way just to check this place out--feels like I stepped on a landmine. Boneless Drunk Chicken - 3/5 Possibly to make the portion look bigger, the restaurant sliced the chicken thigh meat very thin. But this just made the texture unappealing, and it tasted overly salty. Prawns Fried Rice - 3/5 Overall, too salty and greasy. There's a strong soy sauce flavor that becomes overwhelming by the end. After finishing, my mouth felt oddly numb--really unpleasant. Corn Soup - 4/5 The soup was alright, but nothing particularly impressive. Juicy Dumplings with Loofah and Shrimp - 4/5 Unlike traditional soup dumplings, these didn't have much broth inside. Still, the unique combo of loofah and shrimp gave it a fresh and tasty flavor. The ambiance and service were decent, but the flavors weren't good enough to make me want to come back.

I have been very happy with the food here every time I came here. A star is taken out because the waitress placed a wrong order for me, but she didn't offered to replace it with the dish I ordered. Sakura shrimp fried rice is my favorite. It was not too salty and not dry as other restaurants that offered this dish. I also like the dried pickled radish omelet. It was juicy and tasty with rice. Sautéed a-Choy with garlic is good too. I was amazed with a wide range selection of vegetables here. 25 veggies dishes to choose from? I seldom see restaurants with that wide range of selection. Juicy pork dumplings (6 pieces) is not bad, but not the best that I ate before. Yi-lan green onion pancakes (thick 4 pcs) was the wrong order the waitress placed. Since it tasted not bad, I just let it go. :) Overall, I love love love the food here. Hope the server won't give me wrong order again next time.

Pretty solid experience here, it gets pretty busy here during lunch but if you come early enough you'll likely be able to grab a table. Most of the food options are solid, I haven't seen a place with braised beef soup with glass noodles and it's such a delicious dish. If you like the classic noodles, they also have that as an option. They're known for their dumplings and the Xiao Long Bao is delicious, they make sure everyone has ginger, soy sauce and vinegar. It is a bit milder in taste and the skin on the dumplings are on the thicker side. The shumai here doesn't use fish eggs and really well balanced in pork + shrimp.

Not bad braised pork rice !! My daughter loved it !! I got the shrimp soup dumplings was delicious too !! The red beans pancakes is not recommend for to go order !!

Came here with family for lunch. Really solid and delicious Chinese comfort food! My favorite are the beef wraps, since the crunchy and thick green onion pancakes wrapping thin beef slices is such a winner. The soup dumplings are also fantastic!

This place is a rite of passage for experiencing delicious Taiwanese food if you are ever around Fremont! We will make the half-hour drive from the South Bay just to take friends and family who have not yet been graced with this delectable cuisine. On our most recent visit, we ordered the Juicy Pork Dumplings, Tasty TW Ground Pork Rice, Bell Pepper Beef Fried Rice, and Three Cup Chicken Pot. Juicy Pork Dumplings (4/5): These little soup dumplings will bust a tasty load of liquid pork goodness into your mouth on the first bite! Each dumpling packs a surprisingly large amount of soup, and the pork filling itself is seasoned well. The dough is a little too thick, however. Not the best soup dumplings I've ever had, but it's up there. Tasty TW Ground Pork Rice (4/5): This is their braised pork over rice dish, or lu rou fan. The braised ground pork is fatty and tender, with its gluttonous grease leaking all over the rice and blessing each individual grain with its savory essence. Comes with a braised egg too. Bell Pepper Beef Fried Rice (5/5): This is a very well-made fried rice! The rice isn't soggy -- you're able to discern separate grains in your mouth, and it's also savory and seasoned well. The beef isn't chewy, there's a generous amount of eggs, and the bell peppers and onions add the perfect crunch and bite. Three Cup Chicken Pot (5/5): This dish harmonizes flavors of soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger with notes of basil and green onions to create a mouth-watering symphony of chicken! The flavor of the juicy chicken in this dish is legit -- one bite and I'm transported back to my childhood like that scene with Anton Ego in Ratatouille! I'm impressed that the quality of the food here is so high despite the menu being as big as it is. The prices are relatively affordable for the amount and quality of food you get as well!

We ordered a variety of dishes, and all of them were fantastic. As my friend mentioned, a little bit saucier than you'd typically find in China, but still good. And we ordered everything extra spicy. The "Premium stir-fried beef with yellow peppers (with broth, Angus beef with brisket fat)" was a great saucy start to the meal, it had a nice sour flavor to go with the mild-medium heat and was very fresh tasting. "Husband and Wife Lung Slices" was good, standard and a smidge oily, but tasty. The tendons (there are no lungs, just beef and beef tendons) were cooked nicely, with just a hint of chew but tender. Again mild-medium "Stone Pot Flavored Frog" is where things started to get really good. This was one of the best dishes of the night, and the best frog I've ever had. So tender, with a nice crispy exterior, and so much flavor. This was delicious. If you've never tried frog, this is the one to get. A nice break from the heat was "Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard Greens". I was told that this was a bit leaner than what you'd expect in China, but for me the meltingly soft, rich pork belly and chewy greens made into little mantou-tacos was great. It has a nice sweet/sour flavor and zero heat. Now, by far the spiciest dish we ordered was "Double Pepper Chicken Noodles". Delicious noodles, fresh chilies, great almost crispy texture from the wok, but this was firmly in medium-hot category. Everyone started to sweat and get runny noses eating this one. But the flavor was addictive. Some notes - the parking lot is big, but you may have to walk a bit. This is because this restaurant on a Saturday night was absolutely packed. I came around 6:30 and there were 9 tables on the waitlist ahead of me. I wouldn't say it moved quickly, and the area to wait in is cramped. So best bet is to come early or go wait somewhere else. They have an online waitlist that sends a text when your table is ready, so there's no need to stick around being jostled by people entering and exiting. Service was efficient. My friend ordered (in Mandarin) so I didn't follow what was happening, but the food arrived very hot and very quickly, and they nicely pack up your leftovers themselves. Overall - fantastic. I found some new favorites, had some good versions of things I already like, and while it certainly isn't cheap it was worth it. Oddly enough they added an 18% tip automatically. Fair enough, I would normally tip 20% for dinner but if 18% works I'm not complaining. Unfortunately the location isn't convenient for me and the food would be a bit challenging for most of my friends, so I probably won't be back soon. But anyone who wants some authentic and spicy and interesting Chinese dishes would be happy coming here.

If I were to sum up my meal in one word, I can do it easily: salty. Every dish I've tried today was…read moreincredibly salty. Though I prefer my food a little bit more flavorful, Ping's Bistro really shot every single flavor up. The Steamed pork belly with preserved vegetables was served first, and without a doubt, is one of the spiciest. It's a good size for sharing, but the preserved vegetables on the bottom was mushy and came in a very small portion. Though supposed to be a part of the dish, seemed to be thrown in just for some extra flavor. Though I selected mild spiciness for the Spicy Boiled Fish, it was still REALLY spicy. Maybe it's my spice intolerance, but this dish lights a fire in your mouth. Also, this dish is mala, so it numbs your mouth. Some people may enjoy this sensation, but it's a pass for me. The fish was really soft and tender though. The fish was my favorite part of the Spicy Boiled Fish. Not only there is fish underneath, it was surprising to see other ingredients like lotus, vermicelli noodles, and much more. The salted egg covered pork was extremely salty and oily. I was surprised to know it was boneless, and I felt like the salted egg crust is too thin, which let the taste of the pork overthrow any type of salted egg taste. The Country Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus was again one of my preferred dishes, though it was extremely oily. I really liked the egg, black fungus, and bell peppers in this dish. The eggs and black fungus were soaked with flavor and the bell peppers balanced out the heaviness. The pork was also alright, but more on the tougher side. If you were to come to Ping's Bistro, I would advise you to order the Country Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus. The floors were really sticky, but other than that, everything was alright. The water was poured messily, but I guess it's no big thing. The staff were really quiet and avoided interaction. When they serve your dish, they never wait an extra second before they leave for any questions or requests. They just drop the dish and zoom away. From my review, just remember: saltiness. I'm not convinced that I'll come back again, but I'm glad I tried it out.

While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef. We had some leftovers to go and the staff provided us some extra sauce to go so that's a big plus. Great food here and definitely will be back to try more of the other menu items for the full experience.

We ordered sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, house chow fun, and walnut prawns with egg rolls. Sweet and sour chicken was average--not good or bad. Chicken chow mein was in a pool of soy sauce, way too salty. House chow fun was supposed to have shrimp--it literally had two. This too was drenched in soy sauce. Lastly, the walnut prawns were not bad, but again, we can get those anywhere else--no need to come back here for them. Overall, probably will not be back for their food. It is really sad because we really enjoyed the service.

One of my favorite if not my FAVORITE place for Chinese noodles! They have everything from Lanzhou…read morelamian to Youpo mian to Liangpi! The cuisine is more western China focused with the Chinese hamburger (肉夹馍) and big plate chicken (大盘鸡). Parking is ample in the plaza, and service is very fast. You can see the kitchen and its workflows from the outside, sort of like what you see at Marugame. Spoiler alert, the noodles really are handpulled and the kitchen is very clean! I ordered a Lanzhou Beef noodle soup and Chili Oil noodle. The broth in the Lanzhou noodle was very savory and perfectly seasoned. They also respected my comment for mild spicy, and it was one of the only times I drank almost all the soup since I did not taste artificial powders or too much white pepper. The Chili Oil noodle was also ordered with mild spice, and the noodles were so chewy and perfect, I can't wait to come back here already! We just wished the chili oil noodle had more meats, since there were like only a 2 or 3 slices of beef. Otherwise, portion sizes were also big for the price point, and the quality was beyond my expectations. Since it was our first time here, we were a little cautious and just ordered what we needed. But next time I'll definitely try the big plate chicken and pig ears!
