We waited about 25 minutes on a Saturday night-and there was a Driller's game, concert, and prom going on. Not a bad wait time for everything that was happening! They also have the system where they'll text you when your table is ready so you don't need to wait right there. My mom ordered the Cobb salad and it was HUGE! One of the biggest salads I've ever seen. She enjoyed it but wished the salad was in smaller pieces so she didn't have to cut the lettuce. I ordered the mac-n-cheese and added bacon. This place used to be great, but sadly the service has gone downhill terribly. The server just threw the menus on the table, acted frustrated after asking for some water as we sat there for 15 minutes not being seen, proceeded to fill up the dog water bowl and let the dog lick her hands before serving us food, & bringing us our check and proceeding to apologize for forgetting an ordered beverage and said "no worries I didn't charge you for it". Popped into this delightful spot for an after work beverage and was pleased to see that the beer menu spans pages and pages and it's small print. Organized by type, prices and ABV clearly listed, it's hard to go wrong at McNellie's. And they have food too. Sandwiches and salads, appetizers and desserts. And it all looks great. We came here on a Saturday evening around 630 for dinner. Just visiting Tulsa, we scoured Yelp for a fun, local spot for dinner. This spot is located in downtown Tulsa and had great reviews, so we decided to check it out. The service was... Meh. It left a lot to be desired. We needed refills throughout the evening and our waiter was no where to be found. We ordered the fried curds for an appetizer. They were delicious. You could taste the freshness of the cheese and the breading was light and airy. I ordered the burger (add cheese & bacon) and fries. They asked me how I would like it cooked medium. However, when I got my meal, it was cooked well. Not super flavorful or juicy. But the fries were good and I loved the homemade ranch dressing. My hubby ordered the restaurant week dinner (ribeye with mashed potatoes and gravy & asparagus). It came with a house salad and bread pudding. It wasn't worth $35. And he was pretty disappointed. Ok first this was our first time coming. I've heard such great things about this place I had to try it for myself. My wife ordered the party melt and I ordered the Memphis burger. While we waited we tried the roasted garlic hummus. So good. As for our main course..... well my wife's patty melt came out with no grilled onions and my Memphis burger came out with no pulled pork just these giant chunk or pork that I had no idea what to do with. Our waitress, bless her heart was very apologetic as well as the manager. Maybe next time will be better. At least they tried to remedy the situation. Update: steakhouse burger that came out has nasty part in the lettuce was dry with little to no flavor. Are about 3 bites and sent it away. What a waist of the night. We always want to try the local watering holes when we're able, and McNellie's was a very short walk from our hotel. The weather that day was freaking cold, so cozying up with a pint and some pub food sounded like a great idea. Decorated inside to look like an authentic Irish Pub, the atmosphere is very welcoming and homey. Our waitress, Emily, was very attentive and prompt, which we always appreciate. To warm up our cold, exhausted-from-hiking bones, I had a snakebite, while my husband went for a Jameson and a blacksmith, or two. Both were delivered quickly. For entrees, I had the Albuquerque Turkey while he had the St. Patty's Melt. Both were good, though not remarkable. They were cooked well and tasted house made. The lure of this place is most certainly the atmosphere, and as such, it does a good job of being what you want it to be. It's laid back pub food with no pretensions. Road a Bird over from the Doubletree, right at a mile. Very warm atmosphere with all the eclectic decorations. Found a spot at the bar and was greeted by the bartender. Ordered a Black and Tan. Very nice beer offerings with both tap and can/bottles. Ordered the creamy artichoke dip served with soft pita. The dip was very Rick and light in texture with pieces of artichoke hearts. Had the fish and chips for my entree. Was a little surprised that there was only one piece of fish however it was a large filet. All and it was just the right portion. This place is horrible and has nothing for veg@ns. After several friends insisted that this spot now featured a veg@n burger, I used FaceBook Messenger to ask McNellie's directly. They responded that this was true, see my photo to view the convo. Believing this communication, I suggested a large group of folks from work grab a happy hour drink and some food from McNellie's South. So we go and I try to order the veg@n burger, called the "Impossible Burger." After 30 minutes (not exaggerating), and several inquiries with our waiter, he informs me that they don't have the burger at the south side location. I was with about 12 others, all omnivores, that were in various stages of eating, ordering, drinking, etc., but they all offered to cancel orders, tab out and go to our usual happy hour spot that does have veg@n options, beer, wine, and booze. That was very nice of them but I stuck around. I figured, fair enough, I should have known that the south Tulsa location would not have veg@n food. Fast forward to last night and I suggest to a couple friends we go to McNellie's downtown to grab some adult beverages and dinner to celebrate Presidents' Day Eve. When I inquire about ordering the Impossible Burger, I am informed that the veg@n burger is not something they carry regularly and that they did not have it right then. So we left and walked to a different place with veg@n burgers, beers, wine, and booze. A magical place that is willing to exchange veg@n goods for money, plus adult style beverages. Like, don't carry veg@n food, that's fine. That is one's decision as a business owner. But to misrepresent your veg@n menu when asked after is ridiculous! I really just want to give my money to a place that is willing to give me veg@n items in exchange. So, great business strategy? McNellie's conned me into the restaurant twice. Once they got my money and the money of twelve of my friends and they didn't have to deliver on the false assurance of veg@n food- score one for McNellie's. They didn't get any ducats from us the second time, so that's a draw. I got a recommendation from a local that this was THE place to try various craft beers in Tulsa, so I had to see what it was all about. They do have a great beer list, both in bottles and draught. I tried a beer from Marshall Brewing, an OK company and it was pretty good. The people I was with had their IPA and they really liked it. The atmosphere is quitessential Irish pub, and part of the menu reflects that as well. I got the Take Me Back to Tulsa Club. It had a ton of meat on it, but the bread was so buttered and soggy from the BBQ sauce on it that the sandwich fell apart in my hands. I had to eat it with a knife and fork. Boo on that! I would recommend adding avocado to the sandwich too. The other people I ate with thought their food was pretty good, but it wasn't anything amazing; just your basic hearty, Irish, pub food. read more

We dropped by late to have a beer because their selection is always expanding and the late night atmosphere is relaxed.  Each month they print new menus with their beer specials, pint night information and weekly beer geek offerings.  All of the new to them beers are highlighted in a special font on the menu.  That makes it easy to pick one I haven't tried!  The beer selection may always be changing and growing but the staff seems to be generally consistent.  They definitely have a Cheers vibe. read more

Fun pub that's great for groups. It was pretty empty when we went on memorial weekend but I imagine it can get really busy. The food came out so quick and service was very friendly. I would give this place MORE than 5 stars if I could! Literally one of my absolute FAVORITE restaurant/pubs in Tulsa! The staff is amazing! And, you should know that I am writing this review after JUST receiving HALF the order I placed (and paid for) through DoorDash! Why write such a great review when my order wasn't correct?!? Well, let me tell you why! We all know how awful it is to not get want you pay for, and then you call the restaurant to tell them and they give you some half a$$ apology and offer a minuscule coupon to use on your next visit...That's not McNellie's. McNellie's cares about their customers, not just because they are here today, but because they want you to eat here tomorrow, and the next day and the next day...They want you to feel like family, not just a customer in a drive-thru line! If you want to know what it's like to stop in and eat at a place "where everybody knows your name...and they're always glad you came," McNellie's is probably a great place to check out! My old review of McNellie's stated that they have never let me down. This, unfortunately, is no longer true. In the last year or so, Ive been let down consistently. The first let-down is the tiny table that I always get seated at. It's an afterthought table--placed right in the middle of traffic but still fits so they can get a few more people in. The table is uncomfortable because you're in the middle of traffic and because the legs of the table are either between your legs or sit tightly around your legs. It's an awful spot and an awful table and they just need to get rid of it. Every time I would go in, I would get placed at this table. I finally requested a different table and, after a sigh from the hostess, was placed at the table near the kitchen. I'd rather be by the kitchen or the bathroom than that awful tiny table ever again. This is only the beginning of my list of complaints. Let's talk about the time that my boyfriend ordered an Austin East Cider and the server told us they don't serve those at McNellies. Lo and behold! We pulled out the drink menu and pointed to the VERY FIRST listing, which happened to be exactly what he ordered. He got his drink, because McNellies does, in fact, serve that beverage. Other times I've had to wait what feels like an eternity for the server to come by and take orders. Or I've had to wait, after ordering the brunch mimosa bar, for a very long time before getting the glass so I could go prepare my own drink. I really didn't know what the protocol was for the mimosa bar, and I couldn't get my servers attention to find out. It was especially weird since I didn't have my glass for a long time. Bad service didn't happen just once or twice. It happened consistently and consecutively over 7 or 8 visits. I'm over it, and I really want to give McNellies another chance. They've just let me down too many times with their terrible service. It's a shame, really, because their food and beer selection is as good as it has always been. I'm new to Tulsa, but from what I hear they are an institution. I've never been in the evenings, but this is a great place to go during the day on weekends (which is my preferred time to go to a bar). The service is always really good and it's not that crowded then, but not dead either. On Sundays they have a Bloody Mary bar with a ton of options. The food is good, pretty standard but above average bar food. I do really wish they had a patio though. The only time I want to go to McNellie's but don't, it's because the weather is too perfect to spend inside. They are a part of the McNellie's group, the Tulsa shadow corporation that owns Fassler Hall, Dilly Diner, Dust Bowl, Yokozuna, and several others. So you know what you're going to get..... at least on the surface. Just kidding. There's nothing nefarious going on with them...... That we know of. Dang it, I did it again. Seriously this time , they're just a group that owns several Tulsa bars and Restaurants.... As a front for their secret government experimental weapons tests. Ok, I think that one was over the top enough to clearly be a joke. They do a great job. Please don't come after me and my family. I arrived with high hopes and BOY were they shot down. I've always enjoyed McNellie's but this was a very bad trip. We arrived with a special group over in their reserved room. After 15-20 minutes the waitress finally made it over to our table, we got there early, so I ordered a beer and a dinner along with one of my friends. We had to request our drinks from the waitress 3 times before they finally arrived. My friend received her meal, after the 2 request. I waited...and waited...and waited...spoke to the waitress a 3RD TIME about my meal and waited...finally it was time to go and I had NEVER RECEIVED MY MEAL!! I finally told her to just cancel it, and she seemed put out! I had waited over an HOUR + 15 minutes for my order. They were not overwhelmed. Who knew that you could find an amazing bar that has amazing food? This place is it! They have all sort of exotic liquors, which the bar tenders are happy to tell you all about. You can also get half shots of the more expensive booze for a try, such as Aberlour. The beer menu is so expansive that it is overwhelming. Fortunately, it is categorized and the bartenders, again, will come to your rescue and suggest something you will like. Their meals are way above average for a bar as well.
