I've heard about this place for the longest time! I've lived in Tulsa for a year now and finally got the chance to stop by for dinner. As a lover of all things English, I truly enjoyed my time here. We made a reservation, so we were seated quickly, and our meal was DELICIOUS. I'd never had traditional English food before, and I'm so glad I finally tried it. Everyone was really nice, and the whole place had such a cozy English pub atmosphere with traditional decor that really added to the experience. Can't wait to come back and try more. Cool pub and a cool British vibe as well. We came and was seated immediately. Note that the place isn't big. The staff was friendly, which was nice. I ordered something that was similar to a chicken pot pie. It was pretty tasty. Although I would say the puff pastry gets pretty messy, but maybe I was just an idiot and don't know how to eat it! The "chips" that can with it were good as well. My only complaint was that the dish was small, so if you are starving, you might still be hungry after. The price was a bit steep for what you get, but you do get authentic British food so that's cool. read more

We went in a little late after our kid's hockey game. It was wicked cold out so it was such a welcome place to warm up and have a great meal. We had two hockey players with us and three hockey moms. Adults enjoyed adult beverages. Their boozy coffee drinks are delicious. One of the kids enjoyed their hot chocolate too. We had shepherds pie and crab cakes. The word that comes to mind immediately when walking in is "quaint" but it's even better than quaint! The Taste of the Midlands is a wonderful take on cottage pie. Just throw the peas right in. Location good. Parking yikes. Server He was delightful. Food Please do not make the same mistake I did, if you're going there order a pasty and or pie they are simply outstanding! Seriously the steak and mushroom pie was ridiculously good, please go there for that! The sausage rolls were a complete diamond in the appetizers list and I see why it's listed first. That grilled cheese was sub basic and absolutely uncalled for. Two small slices of frozen bread and a half slice of Kraft processed not cheese, cheese, and not fully melted. Well....much has and hasn't changed from a few years ago. What hasn't changed is the ambiance and little tender loving care would do wonders. The service was solid. Not your ordinary pub/restaurant. Certainly off the beaten path. Ye olde-world English pub with ye olde world menu ta boot. I have heard it's ran by a mother and son who also own the BBC network-I may have just made that up. But I do believe they live on-site. If one likes english pub mainstays like Guinness, bangers-n-mash, and Manchester United on the tele, this place won't disappoint. Step out of the ordinary. Eating at the White Lion is delightful in ambiance, food and service. It's very quaint just as you would expect a British Pub to be. The setting is very intimate but not really crowded. The Baked Brie and Crab Dip are both delicious and I highly recommend both. Love date nights here! read more

Absolutely love this place!! The atmosphere is very small and quaint. (definitely not a place if you're claustrophobic). It's like sitting in a small town pub setting in Europe with friends. The food is pretty authentic with things like "bangers and mash". The owners are always there to welcome you with a smile; as they hustle by to take an order. A return visit after several years to this wonderful, cozy pub in Tulsa! We had not been here for probably 5 or 6 years but decided for our anniversary we would give it a go. We went early (before 5pm) hoping we wouldn't need a reservation, but they asked anyway. We were still seated even though we didn't have one and promptly received our drinks. Hubby had fish and chips with mushy peas and I had the steak and kidney pie with chips and peas. Everything was delicious and the pie was perfect and like my mom always made. The White Lion is a nice and intimate restaurant that offers authentic dishes from Great Britain. I enjoy eating there about twice a year.

My husband and I went for an early dinner right as they opened without reservations. We were seated at a tiny table for 2 and there was only one other couple in the small room to the left. After we ordered our appetizer and my husband ordered his soda, had his glass of water and ordered a glass of wine our waitress offered us a larger table. Now we are ready for a lovely dining experience. I forgot the crab dip is served cold and that's not my preference but it still has amazing flavor. I stepped out of the box and ordered the Taste of Midland with regular peas and chips! It's was exactly what I was craving and they gravy she brought out for his fish and chips made it perfection! I tried mushy peas and they aren't for me. The husband had fish and chips with mashed potatoes. He didn't offer me a bite and cleaned his plate! He said they were cooked just right, not too greasy, perfect. Next time I'll save room for dessert and I'll go back to the baked Brie with green apple it is always fantastic! The ambiance is an old British Pub! Small, quaint, old, with separate rooms and a lot of old small tables and chairs mixed together. The service is the serve you and leave you to your company, not the type to linger so ask for everything you need at once. It's just the vibe so you can have your privacy and enjoy your guests. What a GREAT Pub, they literally turned a house into a British Pub complete with the life size cut outs of the current King and former Queen. We came on a busy Saturday without reservations. We had a bit of a wait. We ordered an appetizer of Welsh Rarebit. It was a simple dish of cheese on toast. (Not really worth the $ 7.50) the bread was wonder style but the cheese lovely and creamy, well melted. I ordered Bangers and Mash... how English can you get? My fiancé preferred Fish and chips. The "bangers" were very mild in flavor with a tender consistency. The Mash was a textbook example of creamy style mashed potatoes and gravy straight out of a Sunday dinner. The accompanying peas were proper English style peas cooked to a firm but yielding consistency. Their flavor was as green as their color. The Chips were properly fried potatoes at home on any American plate. The fish was flaky with a soft texture and mildly fishy flavor. The food (with the exception of the bread) was of good quality but indistinguishable from textbook American food. Return is possible but not likely. read more

The dip was hard, salty and small for $14.95 - then the cheese was 3 wedges - small of cheese that was no better than Walmart. For $15.95, both served with Ritz crackers - they were out of 3 beers too. On a Saturday evening at 7. We ordered the fish and chips which came out - chips cold. Fish was ok but pretty oily and so disappointed with the serving sizes of everything. Needless to say, we won't go back. Oh and we asked for a few more crackers because we were a little hungry (yes, all 4 of us) and the kid said "I didn't hear anyone say please". Are you kidding me?
