Don't walk, run. My friend and I visited this place for their Sunday brunch and it is a must have. Very nice environment with experienced and friendly staff. I had the chicken and waffles which was WORTH IT. It had a glaze on it that was sweet. We held a private event at Hop the Griffin today, a celebration of life. It was so well done, we had a buffet lunch and drinks for about 80. We were so happy with the service and attention to detail to help us make this an upbeat and memorable occasion. I have been to hop the Griffin probably half a dozen times this year in 2023 and it is a great local option. It has some of those awkward, weird things that are off that make it such a great mom and pop shop. There are also some really great things. Great thing number one: the hidden outdoor patio. This is a gem replete with uncomfortable seating a view of pond, breeding mosquitoes and poor drainage with decent sometimes excellent service from the servers inside! Great thing number two: they have really great wine events. They're a little pricey like $60-$70 and they come with a cheese pairing that is not going to be sufficient for dinner but perhaps we could eat first next time and then attend wine pours in the wine tasting, are very generous, and the tables were set gloriously . Beer is the best in Tulsa, by far. Chill atmosphere, food is great. They out perform some of the go-to spots for Tulsa eating. I live in Texas, but make it a point to stop here every time I'm in town. The service is elite and they never leave you waiting on a refill. Try this place if you haven't ever been. Great room for improvement and we will be back. (I just had to qualify that at the beginning of this review because there's such promise here and I wish the owners the best!) We did go on opening weekend, I believe. I love the way that they have turned the old French Hen into a cozy pub and I adore the outdoor seating area. It's quite spacious inside and the pool table and darts add to the pub feel. Service was good. It took us a while to figure out if we ordered at the bar or not. We finally sat down and were waited on pretty quickly. We ordered a pint of the Irish Red Ale and a flight (Mona Tree IPA, Golden Talon, Summer Winds, and Triple Honey). I enjoyed all of the flight samples and probably couldn't pick a favorite from the Mona Tree, the Summer Winds and the Triple Honey. I ended up ordering a pint of the later to further enjoy. The Red Ale was not so much of a hit. It just seemed flat. We did try the pretzel with cheese that was delicious. The longer we stayed, the busier the place got and it did seem like a lot of friends and family were coming in to support the new business. There was an off smell to the place that we really couldn't put our fingers on. Again, I will be back for some outside seating and to sample some more of their food. The menu is limited but sufficient with things like dogs and brats, frito chili pies, nachos and those pretzels! The owners were checking in regularly with us throughout our stay. I had never been here before until I went for a wine tasting. It's about 20 plus minutes from my house so it's not close enough to frequent for me. Everyone was super nice But I wish there had been some more affordable wine choices. Everything they had was kind of pricey and there was no happy hour or house wine. This is my personal preference and I'm aware that it doesn't work for everyone. The wine tasting was nice but the charcuterie board was kind of disappointing. It had some like Hormel deli sliced ham along with the cheese and that was a little disappointing. Again personal preference. I might try another one sometime but probably won't frequent due to distance. But we had fun learning about all the wines. read more

Love Hop the Griffin! Such a cute little place. Service is great, all staff members are so friendly. I'm not a beer drinker, but they have a good sized rotating list of their own brews. A decent wine list with wine flight options, and great cocktails. The food is SO good. Their carnitas are delicious, love the mac and cheese, tacos, pretzel, queso. Plenty of good options. I met up with some friends to hang out on a Thursday evening. The carnitas nachos were amazing. We split a full order, and it filled us both up but didn't leave us feeling overly full. I tried the beer flight and enjoyed all the beers - imperial oatmeal stout, pumpkin seasonal, experimental IPA, hazy IPA, and DIPA. Nock, our bartender was helpful recommending some beers based on my tastes, and all were really good. Everything was clean, not smoky, and welcoming. This is not a "bad" review. It's just not my scene. The interior attempts to have tried some decorations but my overall feeling was sterile. With a fantastic beast like the Griffin, I was hoping the interior lived up to it's name. I tried a Naan Pizza, marinara with cheese and basil. It was forgettable. Other items are on the small menu. The rest of the party had pizzas, too. All of them were served on a white plate, no flair. Did not look that inviting or substantial, either, like mine. I don't hate this place. The food is horrible and the service matches. Something is wrong with the kegs. They pour beer into pitchers because it's 75% foam and then pour into glasses. We sat with empty glass for 15 minutes at the bar. One bartender asked if I wanted another glass of wine, I said yes please. She asked the other bartender to pour for me and he poured it for someone else. There was a drunk woman at the bar cursing who had been over served being obnoxious. I've known about this place since they opened and driven by hundreds of times. It was a mistake on my part. I visited HTG with family from out of town shortly after Christmas. They had seen it on Google maps and wanted to try it. I had a Belgian quad and an oatmeal stout. Both were great and well crafted. The quad, which is hard to brew, was clean and perfect (ok, maybe a tad sweet). Unlike many local beers, it had no off flavors and extremely flavorful. The oatmeal stout was the same but it was a little thin in body for my personal preference. But the flavor was perfect. Mixed drinks were ordered by one person in our party and they thought their drinks were generous and well crafted. They thought they were better than any of the drinks they had in their hometown of Austin, another member of our party, but the IPA was spot on and as good as any he had had in Austin Texas. We are all pretty picky about our beers and drinks and we were pleasantly surprised. All the staff were family members and owners of the establishment. They were extremely cordial and attentive.
