First time at this beautiful spot. Being a procrastinator, there were two seatings left when I got around to making res' ! I jumped on the 4:30, but there were quite a few guests already there. Through Open Table, it appears they start reservations at 4:00, then every 15 minutes to 9:45. I (and my party) felt getting there was a bit of a chore. That they have use of a parking garage is awesome (ask server to validate your ticket). We parked, took the elevator down, then had quite a walk to reach the restaurant, there in the middle of Santa Fe Square. We were greeted warmly. It filled up fast in the middle section of booths. And it got noisy in sync. Personally, I thought the menus could be cleaner. Seriously. And I don't mean the font or size or explanation. I mean hygienically. Such a nice place and the menus basically looked run over. Manhandled. But the font was actually a good size. Our waitress was attentive. My husband asked if there was a house Chardonnay, for me. She said yes and my friend ordered a red. The waitress then began to explain to my friend, who'd just returned from Guatemala, about the glass her red would be served in. I chimed in, "it's Italian!", hoping to spare my friend of an unnecessary explanation. Boy was I (sorta) wrong. My husband actually saw another waitress replace the typical Italian glass with a goblet for an Okie who'd complained. Guess she's never drunk Raki on Crete in the rain. I gratefully accepted my tasting pour. Explained it was unoaked. But said I'd take it anyway. And it was on the menu so I assume I didn't get "house" pricing. Food: We shared the sausage and polenta. I believe any of us would have licked the plate. There was a tangy, giardiniera-like accompaniment that offset the heaviness of the other components. Awesome. My friend ordered the orecchiette. She ate the whole bowl. I had a taste and observed. I know the pasta is house made. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that the orecchiette sizes were inconsistent - a mark of handmade. Also, to me, it was runny. A little moisture okay. But there was a lot IMHO. Hubby ordered the lasagne and continues to talk about it. He said it was delicious. But flat. Observe photo please. I had the mortadella pizza. To me it was ingenious. Gorgeous crust, maybe the best I've ever had and I'm including Italy. The combination of the creamy mortadella, mustard seeds, pistachios, soft threads of cheese. I cannot say enough. Oh, the pops of the mustard seeds. . . .kudos, is not enough. Well, I really wanted to like it. But in all fairness, we just spent time in Bologna recently, arguably the food capital of Italy. I despise parking downtown - so let me get that out of the way, but that had no impact on the rating. We did park in a garage by the restaurant, and they do validate, which is very nice. We sat outside partly because it was really cold inside. Outside was nice but they had a very talented opera soloist... it was nice, but it was just a bit loud. We should have asked for a table further away in the other outdoor section. Cocktails... we both ordered martinis... one just very slightly dirty. It came out as dirty as I have ever seen... no problem but it took a long time to get the replacement. Mine was nice and cold, and at $11 was reasonably priced. We wanted to try several mains ... We ordered carbonara, lasagna, and the wagyu bolognese. Carbonara - that was more like cacio e Pepe... way too much pepper, and microscopic bits of guanciale - almost like bacon bits, not the traditional chunky cubes in traditional carbonara. It was okay, but it was cacio e Pepe in my opinion, not carbonara. Lasagna - it is their twist on it and made in a pizza oven. Nice try, but wasn't for us. It was burnt on top and when I asked, I was told that's how they make it. To me, it was a burnt lasagna flatbread - the char / burn made it taste horrible. Wagyu bolognese - this was decent but I would prefer a traditional tagliatelle... unfortunately the burnt lasagna had altered any expectations at this point. Our server was okay - never asked how our food was though... another expediter did ask. It was our actual anniversary date which I noted on my open table reservation -- no biggie but the table next to us did get a birthday dessert and sparkler/candle. Great place with friendly service and fantastic food! My wife planned a baby shower here for a party of 13, and we were seated in the private room facing the patio. The space worked really well for our group, although the sun was definitely shining in and beating down on us, a little shade would've made the setup even better. Now, the food! We started with the bread service and whipped ricotta, and let me tell you...the bread was by far some of the BEST I've ever had. No kidding! It is an absolute must-try. I ordered the chicken Parmesan, which was a very generous portion and absolutely delicious. But that spaghetti and marinara? Amazing. The sauce is so good it'll have you calling everybody paisan after a few bites. My wife had the Wagyu bolognese, and both of our entrées were fantastic. We also split the kale salad, which I really enjoyed. The brightness of the dressing was exactly what the salad needed. My wife thought it was a little kale-heavy, but I thought it worked, and it's definitely worth ordering to split. The cocktails were also great. Drink service was a little slow, but thankfully they were worth the wait. Overall, we had a great experience. Between the private space, friendly service, excellent food, and those cocktails, this was a great choice for our celebration. And seriously...GET THE BREAD! read more

Great new dinner spot in downtown Tulsa. This restaurant feel like a big city restaurant, because all the dinner slots were taken (lol) we had a reservation for 7:45 and when we entered this place was absolutely packed. We waited a bit for a table which is chill and we're seated within 10 minutes. I got the limoncello spritz which is always a good option. I will say I would like to see a bigger cocktail menu in the future. Moving on to the food, we started off with the whipped ricotta and it was fantastic. We moved on to the Caesar with kale and it was very healthy tasting which I did enjoy. Now the pastas, solid. For the price, I am not made at it. Is it the best pasta I've had in my life... no, but I would come back for those dishes again. The tiramisu literally comes out family style and our server scooped it up table side making it the perfect end to the night. As a whole, you go to Forno Santo for good food, but stay for the vibes. Forno Santo is downtown's newest Italian restaurant located in Santa Fe Square. I came here for lunch with friends. They have limited inside seating during lunch time, only having the pizza parlor open, and with the patio also being an option. You order at the counter, and then bring your food out. It was a bit hot, so we chose to sit inside. The young gentleman that helped us was attentive, helpful and accommodating. I wish I could remember his name. He even gave us a tour of the dinner area as well as the private room. The lunch menu has an assortment of starters, soup & salad, pasta, sandwiches, and pizza. I had the Tuscan kale Caesar salad. It's one of the best salads I've ever had. I also got the Spicy Boy pizza and really enjoyed it. I saw some reviews complaining about the pizza being burnt. My curiosity peaked, turns out, a purposeful "burnt" bottom--known as leopard spotting or char--is a deliberate technique meant to enhance flavor and texture. Known as the "Neapolitan" Standard--high-heat ovens (like wood-fired or stone ovens) rapidly cook the dough, intentionally causing small black spots. This creates complex bitter and toasted notes that balance the sweetness of the sauce and the richness of the cheese. I didn't mind the charring, but my friends have mixed reviews. Wonderful dining experience! The service was outstanding--our server was friendly and attentive. The basil gimlet was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Wagyu Bolognese, which had excellent flavor, though it could have used just a little more sauce. I had the Rigatoni alla Vodka, and it was fantastic--rich, creamy, with just the right amount of spicy kick. The real surprise was the house-made bread. Fresh, warm and incredibly delicious! This was a fun Italian restaurant to go to. For starters, the inside was nice. This Forno Santo had a really good ambiance to it. It's located in a neat spot of downtown Tulsa. The food here was pretty good. I enjoyed my Margarita pizza and my family enjoyed their food as well. Also, the bread was really good. I definitely recommend getting the bread as an appetizer. The bathrooms were clean which was nice. Our waitress was also nice. The only downside to this place were the chairs. They were not comfortable. Also, I kept falling through the back of it. Incredible! This place hits all cylinders from food to ambiance to service, I loved it. We went for girls night and we started with a limoncello martini & the whipped ricotta as appetizer. The bread and ricotta was perfectly balanced. We then decided to split 3 entrees family style: Orecchiette, Wagyu Bolognese & Spicy Boy Pizza. We were divided evenly on which was our favorites. For my birthday, I chose to try a new restaurant in downtown Tulsa. We had heard good things about Forno Santo and I love Italian food! We made a reservation online days prior to our visit, and when we arrived it was very busy outside on a Saturday evening so I was glad we had booked in advance. The waitress took our name and we were seated in a cozy rounded booth area near the bar. Our waiter brought out waters and my husband and I chose our cocktails, both of which were very good! We ordered the bread service and shared the kale Caesar salad. Then, we ordered our entrees. My husband had the wagyu bolognese and I had the chicken Parmesan. The chicken Parmesan portion size was very large so I took home more than half of it. The food was great! But, here's where the 3 stars comes in - no one recognized by saying "Happy Birthday." Also, the next day when I got out my chicken - I started to cut it and there was a large piece of bone on the end with the breading. I'm so glad I didn't try to eat that at the restaurant. But, I have never had chicken parm with a bone in the chicken! It was odd and I just threw it out. I might return here and I might not. If the nervous jitters had been taken care of (the place has only been open two weeks), this would be a five star review. First of all, our server was amazing. (She said it was her first night there too but she had been called over from one of the other McNellie's restaurants. She is a gem and the group is lucky to have her.) Some of the other staff looked a little scared. I started with a Hugo Spritz. It took a while to get our drinks but we were actually waiting for our third so it wasn't a big deal. Once we all were there, we ordered the whipped ricotta. So good. It's a large serving and we could have used a bit more bread. Our server suggested we try a few things and just eat family style. We started with the chopped Italian salad which was huge and was plenty for three. We ordered the margherita pizza, the Bolognese, and lasagna. The pizza was delivered first and was not piping hot but was delicious. The lasagna came out pretty immediate along with an order of chicken parm. We pointed out the mistake (that it wasn't Bolognese) and our server, expediter, and a manager were all sooo apologetic. (BTW, I don't think this was our server's fault.) We got to keep the parm to try. The Bolognese arrived and was totally addictive. The lasagna is not traditional and is served in an inventive way. It was great, too. The chicken parm was more than acceptable and the spaghetti was interesting (in a good way). Needless to say, with four LARGE entrees and only three people, we were stuffed. We took a large sack of leftovers home. I would totally order family style again. Servings are huge. We didn't even think about dessert but we saw the tiramisu being dished out table side. Interesting idea and it looked delicious. Definitely would return. The interior is stellar. We all commented on how we could imagine we were in NYC or Chicago. Give it a try! read more

This place is so chic, and I hope next time we try it, some of the kinks are worked out. Drinks and service were great. Whipped ricotta was sweet but good, just needed more bread alongside. Pizzas were good but needed longer in the oven. Pasta was a mixed bag- the pork jus dish was delicious, the carbonara was very bland, and the Lazagna was a cool concept but was slightly burnt and needed more sauce because it was pretty dry. I will agree with another reviewer that it is extremely loud. The five of us barely had a conversation because you really can't hear yourself think. I will ask to sit outside next time. We got Whipped Ricotta to start, Wagyu Bolognese, Chicken Parmesan, and Carbonara. I would highly recommend the Wagyu Bolognese and the Chicken Parmesan.
