Four of us dined here on a Friday night... they were about 1/2 full. First time visit. Service was really good - attentive and not far when needed. We had a cocktail ... aperol spritz, martini, beer, and wine. Aperol spritz was in a cocktail glass versus a big wine glass, which I am accustomed to. They did make my second in a wine glass upon request. Bread was nice - I asked for some olive tapenade which was yummy. Not for those avoiding salt! We had some calamari to start plus I had stuffed mushrooms since I ordered prix fixe. Calamari was average, and the marinara was bland. The three stuffed mushrooms were generous and tasty - I only ate two as I was already getting full! Entrees were squash ravioli, veal scallopini, sea bass, and lasagna. The fish and veal were reported as good... unfortunately the pasta dishes were so so. Lasagna was super soft - i suspect it is hard to keep lasagna from overcooking through the service evening. Desserts included the chocolate mousse pie and our server generously let us try the lemon dessert which was very refreshing. Italian is hard to pull off... timing is important and unless dishes are made "to order" it can be unpredictable. Biga won't break the bank, but the possibilities for a better than average option are there in my opinion. Maybe it's my fault that I went on a Valentine's Day, but I was very disappointed. First off, they only had one option which was a sixty dollar three course meal. Was told I could not order anything else. I also thought maybe since it was sixty dollars and Valentine's, that the price was for couple. Nope. I was wrong again. And since we didn't have a reservation, which I did not know I needed, they put us at a table right in front of the bathroom doors. If a reservation was required, then I wish they would have turned us away at the door. So basically, I paid a hundred and forty dollars to eat a half of meatball and stare at a bathroom door. Biga was simply not on our radar until a few months ago. It's quickly become one of our favorite Italian restaurants. The atmosphere is basic and more subdued than some other Brookside Italian restaurants. The food is very good with so-so presentation. This evening I'm having Spaghetti and Meatballs from the prix fixe menu, including a house salad and cheesecake for dessert. The salad was cold and there was no brown wilted lettuce to be seen. It had some shaved Parmesan a couple slices of cucumber, couple cherry tomatoes, and lettuce. The dressing was light and just right. The bread that was brought to the table was really great. It was warm had a nice dense crumb and a wonderful crust. The spaghetti and meatballs was great, the meatballs for a rather large, and I ended up taking half the plate of spaghetti home. We had a wonderful time at the Meomi wine dinner! It is always great to see the chef pair the food and then come out , explain it and work the crowd. The bonus was the wine rep was here to explain the different varietals. Meomi has long been one of my favorite Pinot noir but they now have a Chardonnay that's been out a couple years and a brand new Cabernet Sauvignon. All three wines were delicious and have a good price point. Catch one of these wine dinners if you can. read more

Great place!!! First of all, the food is just delicious! I got the chicken stuffed with goat cheese, and it also had cranberries and walnuts. The chicken was good and flavored nicely in its own, but then everything paired together was just awesome! The cheese was also a really great texture/consistency... just the perfect amount of creaminess. The chicken came on a bed of cooked spinach. Normally this isn't something g I'm a huge fan of. I don't mind spinach, but usually I much prefer it if it's in smaller pieces within a dish. But even with that said, I very much enjoyed the spinach. I do t know what it was flavored with... if I remember it was a little citrus tasting? So probably lemon, and I do remember the waiter saying it had garlic. I also tried a few bites of the gnocchi. Incredible!!! So cheesy and creamy but not too much (though I'll admit I do t think I would EVER say there's too much cheese!). The texture of the gnocchi itself was also perfectly soft but not too mushy. The service was also really good here. It felt like they really want to make sure you are comfortable and taken care of. Lastly, the atmosphere was cool. I expected it to be sort of dark and moody, so I was surprised when I walked in and it wasn't that. It definitely felt almost more genuine because of that. And for me, a little less intimidating. Not that low lighting places are bad... just that I appreciated that it was sort of different than the standard Italian place. Attended a wine dinner on July 29th. First let me say, I have attended 3 wine dinners at Duet, a sister restaurant. All three were exceptional and would go back to Duet. I also ate at Biga for my birthday and it was fine. Now my review of the dinner on the 29th. First course was a salad. While the salad itself was okay, it had at most one drop of dressing on one lettuce leaf which left it dry. Second course, orzo was lukewarm and chicken was cold. Third course. Fries were cold, steak was cold, tough and unable to be cut with the dinner knife provided. I asked for steak knife and was told they had none. I observed numerous other guest were left with steak on their plates or to go boxes. I assume they couldn't cut or chew the steak not even sure what cut it was. Dessert was the best thing served. Although it was 1/2 the size of the same thing served at Duet. There were 3 wines offered. I have no problem paying the $50 for the meal if it is edible I so tipped the 20%. Would I ever recommend to friends, absolutely not. There are numerous restaurants which will gladly accept my money and have excellent food. read more

Thought I was in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. We had reservations at 7pm so I waited at the bar and Tommy (I believe that's his name) knows how to mix a drink well. He gets the one star of this review. While sitting there a guy in a man bun and Carol from Tiger King (who I assume are both owners) were barking orders at Tommy in a demeaning tone and one of them asked why he got the orange juice out to which I said, "It's because he's anticipating my next drink order" to which man bun replied "Him?! Highly unlikely." We sat down at 7pm. Menus were laughably vague but they had Osso Buco so I ordered that. What they did to this dish is far worse than the treatment of the calf before they slaughtered it. Looked like it was boiled and now swimming in a broth with a few carrots to show it which stew it came from. The Risotto it came with was a white, bland mound in a sea of broth. I didn't want to be that guy, and the waitress was nice enough to take the plate away to get me spaghetti with meatballs. How they screwed up marinara sauce will forever be a mystery, but they did it. I literally asked the waitress if they had anything that wasn't soup. I ate the meatballs, paid the check, and left as quick as possible feeling unfulfilled. Thanks for the drinks Tommy. Run far away from this place and open a bar. read more

We had a lovely time, w/o reservation on a week night. We were welcomed right in, plenty of seats which rotated more slowly on this eve. Three of us shared a bottle of wine and the prosciutto/burrata/porter peach appetizer w/ basil & pine nuts. Yum. I ordered prix fixe $25 three course. We shared my calamari. I had lasagna, they had eggplant parm' and gnocchi. We shared my dessert. The gnocchi was majorly cheesy and my friend thought it needed more thyme, less cheese & we felt everything needed salt. But that's better than being too salty from the gitgo. We adored our waiter. No rush, perfectly timed. And we were treated to limoncello shots, just as I have been in Sicily. read more

We LOVE Biga. It's been around for a while but is in a location that is sometimes easy to forget. My husband and I went for a Yelp Elite event a few months ago and asked each other "why haven't we been coming here more often?" so we just went again with friends last weekend for dinner. I love that they are family owned and care so personally about everything! Their service is top notch and their food is amazing. We did the $25 Prix Fixe menu-where you get 3 courses for $25-what a deal! I had the Caesar Calamari salad-so yummy, then the Tilapia Piccata-delicious-and the Lemon Zabaglione for dessert. Everything was so so good! And I loved that there were so many choices with the Prix Fixe Menu-5 choices in each course. Our friends also ordered the Prix Fixe and it was fun trying bites of what they ordered. The chocolate cloud and tiramisu were amazing too! Their regular menu has great choices too! Overall a good restaurant. Higher priced than expected. Went here with a big group. The food ordered was tasty and fresh. No real issues noted other than the noise level get a bit high so conversations get louder. The Caprese salad they used large steak tomatoes which are very tasty. The price is a bit higher than expected, but was ok. I dont think I would eat here very often, when I can go to so many other places with better prices and food. read more

The only good news was that the staff was very pleasant. The evening itself was awful. The staff was so shorthanded that we waited almost 1/2 an hour before even getting a glass of water. Our entrees arrived about 1hour and 20 minutes after we sat down. My wife's scallop dish was very undercooked and the veal scallopini I ordered was overcooked and was as tough as shoe leather. I wrote a personal letter to Mr. Curren about our experience and he didn't even have the courtesy to respond. That gives you an idea about how much he cares about his restaurant. We like Biga, however our last visit the food was subpar- just not up to the standard we've had previously. To be specific, the Halibut was soooooo salty I couldn't eat it. I have eaten here a few times during visits to Tulsa, this was the last visit for me. We had a table for four and were expecting a nice dinner but that was quickly derailed by very poor/mean service. The waiter could not be bothered with a simple greeting, a hello or a how are you tonight. From what my dinning partners knew this server had years of experience, perhaps he should quit the business. We went to Biga for a fun and fancy night out and it was the perfect setting for such an evening. We did make a reservation which I would recommend doing especially if you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday night. You can make a reservation by calling or on their website. Our server was great and his recommendations and positive attitude really set the tone for a great dinner. The table was set with a water service so you don't have to wait to get more water which is convenient. The made in house bread was fresh and delicious. The wine menu is just large enough to have something to pair with each course, but not so large that it's overwhelming and same goes for the regular menu. There is a pre-fixe menu where you can get an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $25 which I think is a great deal. My friend had the half portion of the lobster ravioli which is served with a vodka crème sauce that was to die for (she let me taste a bite and dip my bread in the sauce). I decided to skip an appetizer because the bread was so delicious I feared I'd eat too much and not have room for dessert. I had the sausage-ricotta lasagna for dinner and it was so good, I ate every bite which is a rare feat at most Italian restaurants. The flavors of the dish were spot on and it was easy to tell it was all made from scratch. One thing I liked about it was the serving size was just right; they didn't serve you a serving platter size portion to compensate for lack of flavor like some other Italian restaurants tend to do. For dessert, I went with the seasonal option of the peach gelato with walnut shortbread cookies which is made fresh from local porter peaches. It was really scrumptious and not overwhelmingly sweet or rich. My friend had the chocolate cloud and naturally I had to taste a bite. As delicious as my dessert was I have to say the chocolate cloud was probably the best chocolate dessert I may have ever tasted at any restaurant anywhere. The chocolate cloud is to chocolate desserts what the Krispy Kreme donut is to donuts; it melts in your mouth in all the right ways. I will be back to try other dishes, but I will certainly be back to get a chocolate cloud (perhaps even just dessert to go). If you are looking to try something new or have Italian food that is a step above the other Italian options in Tulsa, then you must come give Biga a try!! read more

I came here recently after another Yelp Elite Event across the city to meet my mom. I was OBSESSED with local table when it was in the same location as they had so many incredible local and vegetarian options, so I was excited to try Biga as we live so close. I definitely wasn't disappointed! I was seated quickly at the bar, and service was on point. My glass was never empty, and despite ordering significantly after my family my gnocchi came quickly and was to die for! Delicious and perfect pasta and not the bland white sauce you find at a lot of other local spots. It pits perfectly with their amazing from scratch bread (pretty sure I ate an entire loaf...whoops). I have been here several times over the years and I never get tired of this amazing Italian food!! Pasta is from scratch - not from a dry box... Tuck Curren has had this place for over 15 years and the menu keeps up with the season changes. So fall/winter they offer butternut squash ravioli and heavier/cream based sauces, and spring/summer has lighter sauces and offerings. Please choose the pre-fixe menu - usually get a choice of 5-6 appetizers, 5-6 pastas or entrees, and 5-6 dessert options to choose from - for under $30!! Where else can you get a 3 course (homemade, of course) for under $30? Not many places. My pick: Apple, Walnut & Dried Cherry Salad Ravioli with Sage butter or Stuffed Chicken (stuffed with cheese, herbs and dried cherries Tiramisu or house-made sorbet Look, I'm not a huge coffee person and usually stay away from Tiramisu, but here at Biga, they make their own thick sponge cake instead of using lady fingers. The coffee liqueur doesn't soak the sponge too much - there is still sponge cake with a hint of coffee flavor and the layer of whipped cream and mousse pair well to even out the bitterness of the coffee. read more

I was happy we had reservations because on Saturday night the place was packed. after a couple of drinks we ordered the meatball appetizers which were very tasty. Dinner was followed by stuffed chicken, cauliflower spaghetti and I had the Florentine ribeye. I was surprised at how large the ribeye was. The quality was great, there was little fat and it was cooked to perfection. Of course we had to top off our meal with the chocolate molten lava cake accompanied by a scoop of ice cream. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I've actually heard some pretty mixed reviews. Most of what we had was pretty good but the quality of the food was overshadowed by our experience. We sat the bar, and got fairly slow service but we weren't in a hurry so not a huge deal but there were only 4 other people at the fairly small bar when we got there & 2 left by the time we got our app. I ordered the small portion on lobster ravioli (I do like that they have small & large pasta portions). The small ravioli is 4 ravioli. I ate 2 and thought they didn't taste like lobster. When I actually looked at the 3rd one, I realized it was squash. I told the bartender & I told him that I didn't want a whole other portion. Just 1 or 2 - lol. He brought me out 2 and the sauces were totally different, so not sure how they didn't realize they brought me out the wrong one the first time. Then my husband didn't get a side that he ordered. Then when we got the ticket, they didn't charge us for the side they didn't bring us but they charged us for some we didn't get and then they still charged me for the lobster ravioli which is more than the squash, which they actually brought me. Many places wouldn't have even charged me. I'm ok paying for something I ate but I didn't eat what I ordered/what they charged me for. read more
