I was on business in Tulsa and wanted a place with warm comfort food. Well, McNellies was perfect on a cold Tulsa evening. The place was packed, but food came out large, quick and hot. What else could you want? The carrot cake was the biggest piece of cake I've ever seen. I ate a 1/3 and ate the rest as a midnight snack. The place was decorated with an authentic vintage vibe in an historic Tulsa building. However, the highlight of the evening was the side of green beans. This is one of my go to spots for hanging out on a patio. The food is solid and the atmosphere is always good. There's a pay parking lot and street parking. Any day is a fun day at McNellie's but if you want a deal, go for $5 burger Wednesdays and enjoy with a pint or two! read more

We've been coming here for years as our favorite place to have a beer and great food. We almost always sit at the bar and love the staff who serve at the bar. The music is great and there's an amazing choice of beers. However lately and this afternoon, we sat at the bar and were unable to hear the music or talk normally because there were 2-3 local attorneys sitting that the bar talking at the top of their lungs about their experiences in court and their clients. One was dressed in a suit and was the loudest which was bad enough, but his language was populated with f*** this and mother f***** that. No one was attempting to quiet him down. The only thing worse than an ego-impaired attorney is a loud, drunken one with a tiny appendage. He was also talking a lot of political stuff that no one should have to listen to. We could have removed ourselves from the bar and gone out to the patio, but in the heat, why should we? I know this is a "public house" but if you can't/won't keep tabs on the loud mouths, I guess maybe next, you'll start allowing smoking in the bar. Come on. You can do better. read more

Surprised I haven't ever reviewed this place... My girlfriend Charity and I stopped by with her baby Gracie last night after picking them up from Cleveland Oklahoma. I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled cheese with bacon and fries. She mentioned that the buns on her burger got soggy very fast... After coming here for years, I've learned that the staff is very attentive and bubbly. They all walk super fast and are made up of 90% of females. I even believe I passed by the owner or manger as I was leaving, who thanked us for coming in! The inside of the pub and diner, resembles a England Pub. Downstairs is just dining and drinking, while upstairs has dining, drinking and a large reserved game room. There is also outside seating now, that's been around for a year or two. read more

First time trying this place and it wasn't too bad. We ordered the Reuben sandwich and the French dip. They were both delicious. We had a slight problem with our check due to being a charged a drink that we sent back but they took it off without any problem. Definitely a great place for drinks and sandwiches. Next time we come we will try to sit out on the balcony patio. read more

The beer is good, the food is pretty good for a pub and the ambiance fits the pub environment. There are games and a pool table upstairs with a nice patio. The server caused me to appreciate it less though as she was quite rude. read more

MC Nellie's in downtown Tulsa has always been one of our favorite places to eat. Plus if you want a cocktail you can get that too Custom gourmet hamburgers and other good selections on the menu. Great old time Publix House with wonderful atmosphere. If you go right at meal time rush hours, you'd better have a reservation! Or wait for a table to open. Off hours are the best time of you don't like crowds. Wait staff & other staff are very personable. Helps making your meal even that more enjoyable. I've tried to go to mcnellies a few times but somehow still hadn't made it inside until recently. The inside is cool. Definitely has that pub feeling to it. I also noticed an interesting little private room as I was walking out. And when I say little I really do mean little. It could probably fit no more than like 4 people. But it looks super cute! Like a little wood surrounded dining room. I actually thought the menu had a pretty decent amount of options. A variety of different burgers/ sandwiches, a few salads, and a handful of more classic dishes like meatloaf, chicken pot pie, etc. I ended up getting the South City Chicken. It was really good, but I do definitely wish there was more of it! Especially for the price that it was. It was basically grilled chicken breast topped with pico de Gallo, pepper jack cheese, and avocado. I liked that the avocado (especially considering pico was also involved) was mashed up a bit, so it was more like guac! It came with a side (on the menu it says veggies, but the waiter asked what side I wanted despite the veggies being the sort of default). I went with the Mac and cheese. I'm glad I did because not only was it yummy but it also "beefed" up the meal a bit... carbs and cheese for the win!!! They were shells in a more liquidy thin cheese (but in a good way). They reminded me of my mom's homemade version so that was nice. I also asked for ranch which went really well with the chicken! I was very happy that (from what I could tell) I wasn't charged for "changing" the side from what was listed in the menu (veggies), nor for the ranch. We were a pretty big group, and our waiter was very nice and very efficient. Probably the main reason for not 5 stars is bang for buck.. but again the food itself was good, as were the workers, and it's a cool atmosphere. read more

My last review is from 2011 and it's been 7 years since I've been back to Tulsa!!! Ahhhh the nostalgia! I always wonder how I'll feel visiting old restaurants now that I'm a vegetarian. Thankfully at McNelie's, I FEEL GREAT! They are smart cookies and have the impossible burger as an option which made me smile really big and giggle like a fool. And you know what, it was delicious!!!!! They also had another veggie option but I think my husband and I were so cray for the impossible that we each got one. Their mashed potatoes with gravy is veggetarian and also so effing good. And their sweet potato fries are really yummy. and so is their beer. I loved all the options of beer and the long list of where they come from. Of course we got a flight because that's just the best way to do it! Well done McNellie's, you have continued to flourish into a wonderful, vegetarian friendly restaurant and I applaud you. But why is it that upstairs is smoking now? BBQ nachos & fried pickles were pretty good but I must say the Mac and cheese left much to be desired (kind of gritty/grainy). There was six of us and four of us got fish and chips, haddock being the fish. And two got the blackened chicken macaroni and cheese and said nothing other than it was the bomb! They were admittedly short on servers but handled everyone in a timely, pleasant manner. No food complaints except, again, it would have been nice to have a warmed bun. Huge sandwiches.
