My family decided to visit the Magic Time Machine in Dallas, over the weekend, to celebratemy nieces 7th birthday. When we arrived, the entry was packed, but It didn't take long to get to the front. We were told the wait time was an hour, which we were fine with. Since we had children in our group, one being an autistic 4 year old, we decided to check out the arcade. We got to the small arcade area, that was crowded, and right next to the bar. Kids played some games and my sister, brother-in-law and I decided to get a drink. I asked for tea, which they didn't have upstairs, so I decided not to get anything since I don't drink alcohol. my sister got a soda, which was a really small plastic cup. My brother-in-law ordered a beer. The bar tender said he didn't have any glasses and had to find some. I watched the bar tender grab some dirty glasses off of a table and bring them to the bar, where he emptied them. I never saw him walk to a sink to clean them, but I saw him wipe the glass with a towel laying at the bar. So, I figured he was serving out of dirty glasses. He then made the drink for my brother-in-law. I told my brother-in-law what I saw, and he declined the drink. The bar tender got annoyed and insisted he pay the 5 dollars for the beer. Shortly after, my sister received a text, that wanted her to download an app. I walked downstairs to see if it was because our table was ready. I was told no, so I started back upstairs. As I was on the second set of stairs, a group of kids ran past me, one pushed me, knocking me off balance. As I was trying to regain my balance, a second kid pushed past me, knocking me down. I fell, hurting my leg and wrist. The kids looked back, but kept going. I know kids are kids, but there is more to to this. Once I got back up, I asked the kids where their parents were, they said they were there alone. I walked downstairs, hurting and frustrated, to let staff know unattended kids were running around upstairs, and they knocked me down, injuring me. I went back up to my family, and about 10 minutes later, saw the parent. I confronted the mother and told her what happened. No apologies, or anything. I know this isn't that Restaurants fault, I'm getting to their part. About 5 minute later, our table was ready. I figured I would stay and give it a shot.
Our waitress came quickly, she brought our drinks immediately and took our orders. We loved her. After taking our orders, she took us to the "salad" bar, which was over crowded and low on supplies, so I got a small salad. While there, I see the same kids as before, running around pushing people, while their mom was at the salad bar. I went to sit down. While waiting for our food, these same kids kept running around, pushing even our waitress, who asked them to settle down several times. The last straw was when they were pushing against our waitress for a signature, after she told them to hold on a second, and the kids pushed against my autistic nephews high chair, which he got scared and my sister had to remove him. I was worried they would eventually knock him out. At that point, I told my sister we should cancel our order and go somewhere else, I was hurting, my nephew was bumped into and frightened ( if you know anything about kids with autism, you know they don't understand what's going on and things like this is traumatic). The waitress heard me, and asked what was going on. I told her everything, so she told us she was annoyed with them but they couldn't say anything. So she got her manager.
The manager came and made me report the incident because I got hurt. But, he seemed annoyed that I wanted to complain. He just kept making excuses, saying this is a family establishment and they can't make parents discipline their kids. I told him that those kids were out of control and already caused an injury, I had to tell the parent, but they are still running around pushing people, including other kids. I told him they are going to cause someone else to get hurt. The Manager just kept making excuses. I told him we wanted to cancel our food, so we can leave. He said we can have our food if we wanted it. We did take it, and the waitress still sang happy Birthday to my niece, so I did tip the waitress. Keep in mind, there are signs saying no running. Staff was running with them. I called the Corporate and got the voicemail of a man named Gary, who was apparently over that division. He did call me back several times, but I was at work and did not get his message until after hours. His message did not include an extension, so I had to wait the next day. during business hours to call him back. When I finally reached him, he was just as rude as the Manager, if not worse. I told him they allowed people to get injured by not enforcing rules. They did not care about the safety of their Customers, but more about their Revenue. This place does not care if you get injured as long as they get money. One star is one too many. read more
