The young lady suggested making it a half dozen. I had been making a pick up, so I did a quick search for donuts near my pick up point off of Peoria Avenue. Lucky donuts showed up in my search at about 4 1/2 stars, and I thought "how fortuitous!" The staff was very friendly and chatty. To be honest, the trays of donuts looked like every other donut shop. I bought a dozen for the cargo people, and a Boston cream and a honey bun for me. Even though I am fasting one meal a day, I broke my fast. Oh my God. Light, airy, these donuts leave a little oil on the bag like a good donut should. Seriously awesome, awesome, awesome donuts. I thought this was just an okay donut place. Their bread was stale and rough on the tongue, but their flavor variety is decent. I appreciated that their donuts had less of an oil flavor compared to other places I really disliked such as Lamars or The Local Donut (shocking, right?). While I enjoyed the coconut Boston creme donut, I would not revisit this place. The Pb & J donut was a novel idea, but it had too much peanut butter. I think the last time I actually enjoyed a donut was at Novel Ice Cream even though they're not actually a donut place, so I would recommend that you give that place a try. read more

The donuts were fresh, presented well, and they even sell Thrifty icecream which is my favorite for over 35 years! Honestly, the best buttermilk bar I have ever had in my life. Mind you, I do not consume donuts that often, so I only eat them when they are worth it. This place is beyond worth it!
