Great variety, but I got a classic- chocolate with sprinkles. They offer munchkins (personal favorite) as well. Not sure how much this classic differentiates itself from others, but I'd recommend vs others I've tried (bosa). read more

I am very picky about doughnuts! My other half and our nephews when they visit will eat anything from a 5 star bakeries to supermarket doughnuts (thank heavens for the gym) when I pick up doughnuts from Rainbow I'll just get an assortment that gets devoured throughout the weekend, for me it's all about the chocolate cake doughnuts ....shhhhh! I get them in a separate bag and hide them in the kitchen! The only ones I'll eat! read more

I walk in at 3:55pm. Lady mopping floor. Stopped and said"ok what you want!" Very strong tone. I said I am excited to try. I hear so much about this place. Then she pointed to case and said "OK what you want! She looked angry. No gloves to start my order. After mopping. I expected her to wear some. Very strong bad attitude. So I said I changed my mind. She sarcastically "Ok". So never ordered. Disappointed. Really wanted to try this.. read more

I LOVE DONUTS! I LOVE Rainbow Donuts! Stopped in after an early-ish flight to grab a couple donuts, and OMG...SO YUMMY! The donuts are light, airy, perfectly fresh, and the frosting is super delish. We ordered 4 donuts (glazed, maple, chocolate iced, and sugar) since we were on our way to an event. They have all the usual donuts, and then some. I cannot describe how good these were. To be honest, I wish we would've gotten more to snack on later that night. Rainbow Donuts are better than our favorite local donut shop at home. Plus, service is great, and it's super clean. We will definitely be back! read more

Stopped by Rainbow Donuts at 1342 McDowell this morning. Purchased 4 donuts for my sweetie who just had eye surgery. She is a donut connoisseur. She loved them! Okay I had one, excellent. Very fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend. read more

I'm new to AZ and leaving my hometown was TOUGH as heck because I knew I was going to leave my favorite donut shop. Every state I go, I compare other donut shops to my first donut shop love. I'm so happy to say this hits closest to home. I typically order the same thing.. a plain chocolate donut and the only thing I seek in every donut is the right amount of fluffiness. This hits home. read more

Solid donut shop. Nothing fancy no bells and whistles, but reliable. I think it's a tad expensive, but what place isn't! The food is surprisingly good here too for a donut shop! The breakfast sandwiches are good! read more

I don't understand the positive reviews for this bakery. The donuts tasted like they were fried in old oil, the chocolate was anemic looking (and tasting), the coffee was terrible. I will not be back read more

Not just your average donut shop! Has really good food and drinks. One stop breakfast shop. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious and spot on for donuts. Have any donut you can imagine! Definitely a great place for breakfast lovers!! read more

Get there early, they run out of my favorites. Traditional donuts made right. Of course it's busy in the mornings.

Donuts were ok, but nothing to write home about. Didn't have a very big selection, would not go back.

Wonderful donuts. Our favorite traditional type of donuts in AZ. The split cream filled is bomb but you have to get there early as they make limited quantities and sells out by 8! read more

Gotta love these owner on premises places--what a sweet woman who waited on me and gave me an apple-filled bear claw, which had nice fresh doughiness, but the filling tasted more like pie filling from a can, but I liked the crumbly bit topping over the too-sticky glazes most places always put on bear claws. This one actually looked more like a claw too with discernible appendages that were fun to pull off one by one for ease of eating. Unfortunately, I wanted to try some of the more unique donuts I'd read about, esp. the maple-bacon, but they were all out by the time I arrived at 11:00 am.m so my choices had to be from the more usual items. Prices best if you order more, so would be best to plan to share. read more

I have been to this location a few times. The first time I tried rainbow donuts was because I heard so many good things about this place. When I looked at the pictures on yelp, I wasn't impressed but when I tried them, they were reallllly good! Rainbow donuts is probably my favorite donut place in Phoenix area. You like Thai Tea? Then you need to get your bum down and rainbow and buy a cup! Have to admit, I'm a fan of bosa's donuts and breakfast sandwiches more than rainbow. Actually, I'm good with Rainbow'd donuts. It's the sausage breakfast sandwich I'll pass on. The sausage seems more like hot dog. But you want Thai tea .. This is your place!!! read more

Such tasty donuts!! Great local donut shop. Had several options and reasonably priced!

It smells like death when you walk in. It's some funk smell!!!!! Rainbow donut would get 5 stars if they didn't smell gross. We came into to get some donuts at 1pm They don't have much left SOOO I'm going to assume that's a great sign right? The donuts here are surprisingly pretty good. read more

The ONLY donut shop I go to in Phoenix. Rainbow Donuts has some of the best donuts in the city mainly because they taste balanced. Some places over do it with waxy coatings or the breading is too heavy, NONE OF THAT HERE! It is locally owned by a family who puts their life into the shop. The fact that they open @ 4am solidifies them as BEST OF PHOENIX! Wonderful people Rainbow also has an extensive menu of coffee, breakfast & lunch sandwiches, as well as boba tea. read more

You know those type of donuts that someone brings to work that come in a plain little box but are the best damn donuts you've ever had the pleasure of putting in your mouth? Yeah, this is definitely THAT place. Although the building itself looks a little derpy and outdated, I can pretty much guarantee that you won't be disappointed for picking up a box for yourself and/or your coworkers. They open at the crack of dawn, and have a vast amount of delicious donuts to choose from. Whether you stick with the classic sugar or glazed donuts or go for the spunky maple bacon donuts, your mouth will explode with happiness. This isn't a pretentious or social media happy place either, so you can grab a dozen for less than $10! They also offer other foods and drinks, but you know we're all here for those heavenly donuts. Get in here early so you can have a large selection to choose from! You'll be the office hero for bringing these suckers into work, too! :) read more

Our family did a fun staycation in Phoenix over winter break and stayed at an Airbnb a block from rainbow donuts. We didn't plan that, but it was a nice coincidence. Rainbow donuts box says, "best donuts in arizona." I don't know if I would agree, but this it's a great local spot that you'd love to have in your neighborhood. We got a variety of raised and cake donuts and they were all delicious. Nothing overly "fancy" like other places that put half a vending machine on a donut... yuck! But high quality versions of all the classic donuts. Our favorite was the maple, buttermilk donut. A great balance of crunchy, tender, sweet and salty. It's probably a blessing I don't live close to rainbow or I'd be here way to often. read more

9/7/18 I was excited to try after reading the reviews. I ordered 1 1 /2 dozen donuts and a bacon, egg and cheese croissant. The Apple fritter was surprising DRY, needless to say I was disappointed since so many reviews raved about it! I tried the maple bacon donut it was eh. The BEST part was the croissant! My coworkers enjoyed them so that was good, but overall I wouldn't be back for donuts, definitely a croissant sandwich tho! read more

It took me a while to bring myself to stop by this place. From the outside it looks questionable. I finally went for a splurge on my bday this year and dove into their huge apple fritter. I go into a sugar coma afterwards but I don't care, it's way too good - so soft and crunchy and appley all at the same time. I stop by every once in a while when I'm feeling naughty. The only other thing I've tried was the croissant ham & egg bfast sandwich... it makes a great hangover bfast. I'd recommend bringing cash though, they charge for using cc. About $10 bucks covers everything the hubs and I want including drinks. read more

Best doughnuts I have ever had in my life...and they're right here in A.Z. *Rainbow gets (5/5) stars *BoSa Donuts are (3.5/5) stars *Krispy Kreme is pretty good @ (2/5) stars *Dunkin' = negative stars like (-5/5). I literally threw it out to the pigeons. They should be called Dunkin' Don't's. They taste like bread. My favorite doughnut flavor is Bavarian Cream-filled. Dunkin only has vanilla fill and it tastes like cheap vanilla frosting. Krispy Kreme Bavarian cream is good, but tastes like vanilla pudding. KK is also available at gas stations if that tells you anything. I was loving BoSa Bavarian cream for years because it actually tastes like Bavarian cream. Then... I ate at Rainbow Donut. Rainbow tastes like the real deal...like gourmet chef-made desserts. Their Bavarian cream tastes fresh, not from a mix or expensive can. I've had other flavors, too, and they're just as authentic. The raspberry filling tastes like...well, raspberry--not canned goo from Walmart. The Buttermilk doughnuts are rich and to-die-for and worth every calorie. Blueberry & apple filled are yummy as well. read more
