Ube, black sesame & raspberry, Vietnamese coffee mochi donuts
    Haneen O.

I love mochi donuts! I wish more places made them cuz they are my favorite type of fried dough. We were next door getting boba and I wanted to pop in and see what flavors they had. We had the place to ourselves and I perused their display case. They had some interesting flavors and I only wanted 3, but their menu prices reflected 6 or 12 ($18 and $30 respectively). I asked if 3 would be $9, and the employee said yes. I chose their ube, Vietnamese coffee, and black sesame with raspberry. Other flavors included gochujang caramel, almond joy, churro, and blueberry crumble. It was hard choosing flavors cuz they all sounded great. I was rung up for 3 single donuts ($3.50 ea) and asked if that was correct. The employee said yes, as only the half dozen and dozen are discounted. I was tempted to get another 3 donuts but decided against it. We sampled the donuts after finishing our early dinner and the texture was spot on: light, chewy, and delicious. They're so fun and easy to eat too; you can pick off the balls and share them (if you want). Each of the toppings should differentiate the tastes, since the donut base is the same, but honestly none of them had strong flavors which was disappointing. The black sesame seeds did were the most flavorful, but not all of the balls had the seeds on them. Since I enjoy these donuts so much, I'd come back again, although not too often due to the price point.

When it's open and I'm next door, I always have to grab a little sweet treat here to pair with my tea! I am a simple person, and I typically opt for the powdered sugar or the churro and they always hit the spot. This specific day was cute because they were celebrating their anniversary so they had a fun picture station and a promo on their boxes. I love the vibes in here, very clean and open, but definitely a to-go spot as there is no seating at all. The service is always so great, the staff are an absolute delight, and offer lots of free samples to try! My only thing is that their hours seem to be quite limited, I'm always here when they're closed, so I think they close quite early.

What can I say other than perfection! The perfect balance or light, airy, sweet, crisp, and doughy! I have been 2x and both times have been great. The quality is consistent and the owner is very kind, giving me a sample of the Ube flavor doughnut which wasn't my initial flavor choice but I hav now gotten it both times. Pictured is my mom who is very picky and loved the Vietnamese Coffee flavor. The first time I went I only got 1 doughnut which was supposed to be for my daughter as I'm not much of a sweets person. I ended up thinking I would take just a bite and that was a mistake because before I knew it I didn't have a doughnut left to give her! The doughnuts are fried in beef shortening which gives them a full rich flavor. They are not greasy and ever so fluffy for being mochi! I can't recommend this place enough. Even if sweets are not your thing, you will be pleasantly surprised as to the balance these doughnuts have. I'm a fan and will always make a point to stop by when I'm in town.

Second time here, better than mochinut by far, atmosphere is so nice and calm. And the donuts are crazy good. Had fun flavors, and I think they switch it out once in a while? The worker and the owner (?) were so nice and personable, they were completely unbothered that I came in right when they opened. Store was clean and they have some bottled asian drinks and well as merch and nick nacks for sale. Came to get my boyfriend a bday treat, it's not cheap so it's a great gift to bring and the presentation is adorable! I'll be making this a regular spot

They're good BUT they are always closed whenever I feel a hankering for a donut. I have stopped by randomly whenever I am in the area and they're always closed except for those few blissful times. Idk if I just only want donuts at inopportune moments but I am not able to frequent this establishment as much as I please.

Ube, calamansi, lychee, genmaicha, banana foster
    Maja D.

My friends brought mochi donuts over this past weekend and I've had mochi donuts before but these ones are probably the freshest I've had! We tried the ube, calamansi, genmaicha, lychee and banana foster. The ube and calamansi are Filipino flavors and they are absolutely mouth wateringly delicious! The genmaicha flavor was not as strong but it was still good. Banana foster didn't have as much banana flavoring to it but it's good that it isn't overpowering. However, the lychee tasted awful like perfume. That was super unpleasant cause I've had other baked goods with lychee flavoring and it was never this yucky. I did go back to the store and tried the carrot cake and that definitely was delightful! I would just say that the price per donut of $3.75 in the store which is not like on their website which I think was $2 and some change... is pretty pricey! Granted if you get more it's cheaper but like half a dozen for $20 is insane hahaha Delicious but pricey and I'd say still try it if you haven't! The texture of a mochi donut is heaven!

Superb, friendly and courteous service by, I'm assuming, the Owner. Products are top tier. Highly highly recommend.

Not sure how I had never had a mochi donut before, but this place was the best and worst place to go for my first time. Best because of HOW UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS AND FRESH THEY WERE! And worst! Because I live over A THOUSAND MILES AWAY and can't go here on the regular and also no other mochi donut will be able to compare!! :( I'm not sure if I was speaking to the owner, but he was giving owner vibes and was so nice and naturally customer service friendly. Building an authentic relationship with their customers. Really loved visiting this shop. Their merch is so cute too! Unfortunately sold out of everything in my size. They are that cute! * French toast * strawberry cheesecake? * white chocolate coconut * churro * pistachio * ube Loved them all but most especially the churro and pistachio!

This cute little donut and coffee shot is off the chart! I stopped in and had a purple colored Ube donut and was so happy I did! Many different colors and flavors, all good! They also have a cute little shopping area to grab some gear while you are there!!! Definitely a must try!!! Grade: A+

Very cute and uncluttered. A simple donut show will extraordinary donuts with unique flavors. I very much enjoyed my rose water and pistachio donut while my sister loved her Vietnamese coffee donut. Each donut was fairly priced at $3 a donut and the texture was on point!

SO yummy! We came here randomly today since we were craving something sweet. This shop is super cute -- very minimalistic and offers some super cute items! Stickers, candles, long-sleeved shirts and more! We tried ube, caramel coffee, strawberry matcha and key lime pie. So far, we have tried the Ube and caramel coffee -- both were so good! Mochi donuts have this chewy, light texture that really makes these shine brighter than any other donuts. We were also a fan of the assortment of flavors offered. Service was fast. The shop was clean and aesthetically pleasing. Will definitely be back when our sweet tooth sings again!

    Brittney S.

The mochi donuts here have some of the best textures I've had in a long time--chewy, soft, and perfectly satisfying. I visited late in the day, and while they had run out of some options, I still got to try a few flavors. The staff was incredibly helpful, patiently explaining the flavor choices. Definitely worth a visit for anyone craving a unique treat!

Savory Everything bagel mochi dot doughnut

These donuts are perfection. I had never had a mochi doughnut before, but I had heard people rave about them. I can't believe I slept on it for this long. But instead of regretting things I missed out on in the past I am launching headfirst in the future by enjoying not only their incredible seasonal delicacies such as the everything bagel mochi dot and staples such as the Ube donut. I didn't know a doughnut could taste this way. If you like perfectly crispy on the outside while being fluffy and soft on the inside and an ever so slight chewiness, this donut is for you. You get all the great qualities of a doughnut without the excessive doughiness. A breath of fresh air that almost melts in your mouth. But there really is no surprise once you talk to the ownership. What we're dealing with here is an artist who chose their medium as a breakfast pastry. You need to be aware that all of the small details that add up to a perfect whole have been meticulously thought out and crafted beforehand through trial and error. The authentic recipes and attention to detail are a direct reflection of the visionaries behind the restaurant and if you're lucky enough to catch them during a slow moment, chatting with the food artists accentuates the overall experience even more. It must be emphasized that the recipes are something that would make anyone feel at home (even Japanese locals based on the moving stories the owner told us). The service and ambience was beyond compare. The owner walked us through every single flavor that they had and some of the inspiration that went behind it. In conclusion, do yourself a favor, put down the phone, and pick up a doughn at Mochidot Donuts.

How much for a dozen assorted?

Hi Buzzy! Donuts are $3.00 but when you buy a dozen it drops the price to $2.50/per donut so $30 plus tax.

This location is much smaller and has far fewer options. The Scottsdale location has an authentic French bakery feel, while this Downtown Phoenix location felt more hipster and lacked the same charm. More importantly, nearly every interaction with the staff made me feel like I was inconveniencing them simply by ordering. The employee who initially helped me looked irritated throughout our interaction. When she couldn't hear me, she sharply said that she "can't hear" me and repeatedly gave me odd, unpleasant looks as though I were saying something unreasonable. I ordered a quiche and flatbread to eat there, along with several pastries to take home. At the Scottsdale location, my pastries had been placed together in one box, so I asked for the same. She appeared annoyed and instead put each item into an individual box, with the croissants in a paper bag. It wasn't what I wanted, but by then I already felt like such a nuisance that I didn't correct her. When I asked for a larger bag to carry everything, she returned with two different sizes and asked which I wanted. I said both, and she again looked irritated by my answer. The cashier was pleasant, but one of our three drinks was made hot even though I clearly ordered them iced. Once again, I felt too uncomfortable to ask for them to be remade. Since the decaf tea was for my three-year-old, I did ask another employee for a cup of ice, and even that simple request seemed to irritate her. As we were leaving, several employees were behind the counter, and I heard one tell the others something like, "Go do something. Clean something. Look busy." The staff generally seemed miserable to be there, and customers could feel that atmosphere. The food didn't make up for the experience. The quiche was good, and the flatbread was decent but nothing special. Both éclairs tasted off, although the coffee one was slightly better than the chocolate. My daughter enjoyed her chocolate croissant, and the chocolate-pistachio croissant was good but overly sweet. The macarons were okay but nothing special. I spent $86 on three drinks, a quiche, a flatbread, two éclairs, two croissants, and three macarons, and I didn't leave satisfied with either the food or the experience. JL Patisserie has an excellent reputation, and the original Scottsdale location lived up to it. This one did not. Between the limited selection, overly hipster atmosphere, inconsistent food, incorrect drinks, and staff who made ordinary requests feel like a burden, I left uncomfortable and disappointed. I can't imagine Jenna would be happy to have her name associated with this kind of experience. I can't wait to return to the original Scottsdale location.

I got a blended chai, asiago bagel with cream cheese, and cinnamon roll. I like super sweet drinks and read that the chai can be spicy so I asked for it to be sweetened; I might try it without next time because it was plenty sweet and the best chai I've had in Phoenix. Also the best bagel I've had here - fresh, super cheesy, perfect balance between soft and cheesy. The cinnamon roll was because they didn't have cupcakes but it worked out. It was soft and smothered in incredible cream cheese frosting. I live within a block of 4 coffee shops downtown and will happily drive here from now on for my weekend treat. Plus, from their Instagram, I support their values and advocacy. A new favorite!

The front area…read morealready has a cute area full of accessible outlets, but if you turn the corner, there's a full room of tables and outlets for coworking. Amazing!!! Not to mention, plenty of parking in the back, easily accessible and near the entrance. I ordered a brown sugar sage latte with oat milk. I forgot to ask for half sweet, but no need for the special order because the flavor was well balanced and not overly sweet! Well crafted flavors, I'd totally get it again. Working here was awesome too. Music was not too loud or distracting. Everyone here spoke at a respectful volume. I'm coming back next time!

Fantastic Atmosphere and Workspace in Midtown, but Mind the Peak Hours…read more My friend and I visited this cafe on a mid-week afternoon looking for a productive spot to get some remote work done, and it proved to be an excellent choice. Logistically, midtown traffic in this area is a well-known hurdle, but the dedicated parking lot located directly behind the building makes arriving by car much easier. Inside, the design and atmosphere are an absolute vibe. The mismatched furniture, abundance of indoor plants, and view of the green canopy outside provide a perfect, refreshing escape from the summer heat. The menu is varied and high-quality. I ordered a matcha latte, which was excellent and refreshing, while my friend opted for a lunch sandwich and a latte. For true coffee enthusiasts, they also sell specialty house-roasted coffee beans retail, including a Guatemalan Antigua and another select house blend. The lounge offers plenty of comfortable seating tailored for focus and productivity. While the pricing is slightly higher than your average coffee shop, the exceptional atmosphere and amenities justify the cost. One quick tip for remote workers: The environment shifts noticeably after 4:00 PM. The space can become quite loud with patrons taking phone calls or conducting 1-on-1 meetings at adjacent tables. If you plan to work through the late afternoon, I highly recommend bringing a pair of noise-canceling headphones to remain undisturbed.
