I got a lemon cronut, churro, plain cake and strawberry frosted with Fruity Pebbles. The donuts and churro were packaged in brown paper bags instead of the typical donut box. The churro looked really tempting and appeared to be about the same size as the ones Costco used to sell. Unfortunately it tasted a tad stale. The lemon cronut had a lot of lemon filling with croissant layers and was glazed. The donut layers were more on the tender side rather than crisp and flaky. First, EVERYONE who walks in is immediately greeted by the staff. We ordered a sandwich and burrito, and the women helping me were both so sweet and generous! They gifted me two donuts with my order, a regular glazed and a pumpkin spice donut. My partner enjoyed the glazed donut and I really liked the pumpkin donut! Both yummy. Incompetent staff, lack of any customer service. My wife and I went in here on national donut day to treat ourselves to a half dozen. As a treat we both got cronuts which cost a bit more. We noticed the cronuts didn't have any topping in them as they normally do. They reassured me that there was filling inside. She got one with topping I said it's okay as long as there the Nutella filling inside. We got home. I bit into my cronut, ate the whole thing. Not any filling whatsoever. I call to inform them and there was no conversation about, "hey we can offer you a free cronut next time." or, "we can offer you a refund." or anything really. I, did, however see a toasted coconut cream filled one that called my attention. There were only 2 left when I went in, so they had to be good, right? I was feeling nice, so I got the second one for roomie and was on my way. I had also gotten a large avocado smoothie with boba. Got home, I discovered that the nice lady threw in some donut holes, too. I didn't order nor pay for those, but that was a cute little bonus. I ended up giving them to roomie as well, and he said everything he ate tasted good. The ham/cheese/jalapeno croissant was nice and fresh, too. I was searching for a good donut shop and I read all the positive reviews about Rainbow donuts. So I thought I would give them a try. Well, I was not impressed. I ordered 2 donuts and a medium coffee and it came to $5.53. WOW, are you joking! $5.53 for 2 donuts & a coffee... Another business that cuts back literally 1-2 cents worth of food costs per item so at the end of the year, they can pocket a couple hundred extra bucks. SBL and I have been on a donut mission to try and find the donuts we like the most in the city. We have been to a few and today we went to the one we always passed up which was Rainbow Donuts. I don't know why we passed it up especially in comparison to some of the joints we have frequented the past few months. Every Sunday it's a new adventure tho. Today I'd like to focus on Rainbow Donuts and their ability to make pretty much the perfect donut. I'm not one of those people who like the crazy donuts with the 10 pounds of frosting and the creative chunks of art crammed on top for aesthetics. I like a chocolate long John or a perfectly made cruller. I'm not simple by any means, I just want a normal donut to go with my iced mocha. Today we tried a glazed cruller, a glazed red velvet cake donut and a chocolate long John. All 3 did not disappoint. They were fluffy, airy and tasted like exactly what you think they should in your head. Mini me loved the donut holes and my SBL (sexy bearded lover) thought this place was strait up legit. Out of the 6 donut places we have tried so far Rainbow has made its way to the top of the list. Will it remain king of the hill? Stopped on a late Saturday morning to find the place void of any customers. A little skeptical we went in because our only other option for donuts was the QT across the street. Was greeted by a woman who asked if we wanted a dozen. We opted for a half dozen. $6.91 was our total. The maple bacon donut was extremely fresh. Wonderful, the maple glaze was sweet but the bacon salty. Perfection. Apple fritter crunchy on the outside soft and gooey on the inside. My son really liked his chocolate long john. All of our donuts were fresh and tasty except the raised pink frosted sprinkle. We think it was a day old. The customer service could have been a little friendlier but overall was a good donut experience and we will return. read more
